President Donald Trump on Thursday told a law enforcement crowd in New York he was OK with police officers being a little less gentle in their handling of the people they take into custody.

The remarks received applause, including from rows of white-gloved officers standing behind the president as he spoke.
Trump, earlier in his speech, also praised federal immigration officers he also characterized as "rough guys."
"The laws are so horrendously stacked against us, because for years and years, they have been made to protect the criminal," Trump added. "Not the opposite. You do something wrong, you are in more jeopardy than they are. These laws are stacked against you."

The speech was held in Ronkonkoma in Suffolk County. In November, former Suffolk County Police Chief James Burke was sentencedto 46 months in prison after beating a shackled suspect.

Even China's economic growth only happened through accession into the WTO and its trade with the United States.

If you look at a list of countries by gdp per capita (a measure of economic prosperity) , the top 50 have close economic ties with the United States. Do you seriously want your country to be more like Cuba (that doesn't bow to the US) or more like Japan (that bows to the US)?

History has shown over and over and over again that it is better to have a beneficial relationship with the USA than to simply antagonise it, just so you can look like a champ on the world stage.
