Please fellow Nigerians we should not fight over it, here is the New IG:

The new IG

Onovo Ogbonnaya Onovo hails from Nkanu area of Enugu State. He is reputed to possess one of the best track records in police investigations among his contemporaries.
Born on February 7, 1953, the Nkanu Local Government, Enugu State-born man is the youngest Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) in the country.
The Political Science degree holder from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He is a member of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos. He was also appointed Chairman, Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and he proved his mettle during his tenure. While at the NDLEA, he reformed it and appointed only qualified staff, notwithstanding the tribe. Also, during his days as DIG Investigations, he excelled and received both verbal and written commendations from Nigeria and beyond. He has many things that counted for him in the quest for a new police helmsman. For instance, nobody from the South-East has been appointed as IGP since the end of the civil war.

Daddy don't handover, Duke's daughter begs

CALABAR —NINE year old daughter of former governor of Cross River State, little Dona Duke in an emotion laden voice appealed to his father, Mr. Donald Duke not to handover to Senator Liyel Imoke at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar where the handover took place.

Minutes before the swearing in of the new governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, little Dona who apparently was aware of the implication of her father handing over to senator Liyel Imoke who is a family friend thought it was all family affair that could be settled within the confines of the family.
She turned to her father, Mr. Donald Duke and said, “Daddy, do not handover to him” which set everyone bursting into laughter.

While recalling the incident at the executive council chambers during the handing over of notes by former governor, Mr. Donald Duke to Senator Liyel Imoke, the new governor, Mr. Imoke told Mr. Donald Duke that he was still part of the administration and that the new administration would still welcome his brilliant ideas, wisdom and advice”.

He then recalled once again how little Dona had pleaded with her father earlier on that “Daddy, do not handover to him.”

Imoke lauded Mr. Donald Duke for his achievements in the last eight years, saying, “Mr. Donald Duke came in as governor eight years ago with unbelievable drive. Oftentimes when we achieve great success we soon forget how it all began. Today, eight years later, Cross River State is on the map of the world. Donald Duke is on the lips of every Nigerian. He has served, but we want him to know that we need his total support as we move forward.”

Obasanjo gets hero's welcome in Abeokuta

By Kolade Larewaju

ABEOKUTA — FORMER President Olusegun Obasanjo arrived Abeokuta, his home town, yesterday, to a tumultuous welcome with the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, telling him that his tenure ended with unprecedented achievements.

Chief Obasanjo, whose presence at the inauguration of Governor Olugbenga Daniel for a second term added colour to the event, uttered no word.
On hand to welcome him at the MKO Stadium were traditional rulers, chiefs, members of his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and school children.

Accompanied by his daughter, Iyabo; Chief James Ibori, former governor of Delta State; Chief Wale Babalakin among others, Obasanjo arrived in a Presidential helicopter at the Navy Secondary School, Onikoko, Abeokuta at about 4.00 p.m. and was received by Governor Daniel and other dignitaries.
He was driven to the MKO Abiola Stadium, venue of the inauguration of Governor Daniel, at about 4.12 p.m. and then driven round the stadium with Governor Daniel in an open-roof Land Rover.

Dressed in a white agbada like his host, Governor Gbenga, former President Obasanjo wore a green Aso-Oke cap said to be that of his alma mater, Baptist Boys’ High School, Abeokuta.
Not one word was uttered by the former President who sat in the air-conditioned State Box of the stadium throughout the inauguration programme which lasted over two hours.

The Alake of Egbaland, Oba Gbadebo, eulogising Obasanjo in his speech on the occasion described him as an illustrious son who has done both the Egba and the state proud.

According to him, his tenure ended with unprecedented achievements which he listed to include the introduction of GSM, the payment of Nigeria’s foreign debt, removal of the nation from the status of pariah states and making it a united and stable country.

He said: “Nigeria is no longer a debtor nation as you met it. You have done your best. You cannot please everybody. We should take solace in the fact that you cannot please the world. You have done your best and we shall continue to be proud of you.”

At about 4.55 p.m., Governor Daniel took his Oath of Office just after his Deputy, Alhaja Salimot Badru.
In his address, Governor Daniel said during his first tenure he had recreated the state from what used to be called a “civil service” state into an emerging industrial centre. “We have brought hitherto unimaginable development in agriculture, education, healthcare delivery, infrastructure development, road construction and maintenance, employment generation etc.

“We shall not be fettered or hindered by any tradition that has not allowed our state to take full advantage of its potentials. We are committed to breaking all the rules that will not allow us to fully actualise our dream of recreating Ogun State for better, but this will be without compromising the virtues of fairness, equity, accountability and transparency,” he said.

Yar'Adua asks Ehindero to step aside

By Kingsley Omonobi
Posted to the Web: Wednesday, May 30, 2007

ABUJA —TWENTY-four hours after he told Ehindero to remain until he chooses the next Inspector General of Police, President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua yesterday directed that the most senior Deputy Inspector General of Police, take over the running of the Police force immediately.

Presidency sources told Vanguard in Abuja, that President Yar’Adua gave the directive shortly after being sworn in after discovering that the former directive did not go down well in certain quarters.
The decision to hand over to the next in command, is also to prevent any vacuum in the force pending when a new IG is appointed.

The president who insisted that he wanted to take his time to study those recommended to him for the IG position would allow the acting IG to remain in the position for three months as he has vowed to pick a new IGP that will fight criminals to a stand still, and lift up the image of the police and provide adequate security for the country.

DIG Ogbona Onovo, who was in charge of Administration is the second in command to Ehindero. There is also DIG Mike Okiro who is in charge of Supplies. They are the most senior DIG’s in the police force.
Meanwhile, the outgoing IG, Sunday Gabriel Ehindero, will now be officially pulled out on Friday at Eagle Square Abuja, signifying the end of his 36 years service to the nation.

Romance / Love And Lust by BillGatesFan(m): 10:08am On May 29, 2007
"What is this thing called love?" a popular song asks. A good question, in the material world,on the basest level, love is nothing but lust. It is not really love. Love is much, much more. Love's actions are not based on the temporary gratification of the senses. Love becomes lust the moment you make it a means for the satisfaction of Animal needsd," said Gandhi.

That is lust, and that is what usually goes under the name" love" in this world. But real love is far different. The Greeks wisely distinguised between the two in their Language: eros, physical love,or lust; and agape, spiritual love.

In this world," I love you" usually means" I lust for you." There is raw lust and romanticized lust. When certain sentiments surround the sex drive, people call it" Romance. " By definition, romance has little to do with reality. So-called romance sweeps people off their feet with a storm of emotions. people want romantic attachments,In a romance affair, there is the glitter of excitement and adventure. "At last!" people think. " I've finally met the person I've been looking for, the love of my life."

The Sex drive is so strong that under the grip of lust, one feels that he wantrs to possess the sex object forever and ever. When a man lusts after a woman,he experiences a whole range of so-called romantic emotions. He feels tender, intimate, protective, solicitous, gallant." You make me feel like a man," he says. " won't you be mine? I can't live without you."

The woman, wanting to be Possessed, to belong to a man, says," Yes, I'm yours. I'll never love anyone but you."

Sex can break up families and jeopardize one's health, wealth, and reputation.Men have not hesitated to sacrifice everything for sexual passion. even wars have been started over sex. Still, the mind's rationalizations are so convincing and the sex drive so strong that people will convice themselves of anything, say anything, and risk everything-just to have sex.
Romance / Marital Laws by BillGatesFan(m): 9:47am On May 29, 2007
Once upon a time,a newly wedded disciple asked his Guru,

" How many times should I have sex with my wife?"

"You must not allow semen to flow more than once in your lifetime," the Guru replied.

"But thats impossible!" The disciple said, "Impossible!"

"Yes, materially speaking, that is so," said the Guru,"but with the help of GOD and the spiritual master, all things are possible."

"But only once," The disciple lamented."Why, I should have never married!"

Seeing that his disciple was becoming very morose, the Guru said,"well, considering that this is the Dark Age of Kali, the very utmost that can be allowed is once a month. Sex should take place when the woman is most fertile,in order to beget progeny. more than once a month will kill your spiritual life."END

Now fellow brother and sisters in the house, I ask you all today, girls can you marry such a man that can only touch you once a month? and Men can you be seeing your beautiful woman everyday and control yourself to follow such rule?

Blessed and Glorious is one who has Vowed to observe celibacy for the rest of his life! Twice blessed and glorious is he who sincerely struggles to uproot lust and attain real purity! Thrice blessed and glorious is he who has completely conquered lust and attained pure devotional service! All glories, all glories, all glories to such Victorious souls!May they forever inspire us.

Foods in the mode of goodness increases the duration of life, purify one's existence and give strength, health, happiness, and satisfaction.Such nourishing foods are sweet, juicy, fattening, and palatable.

Foods that are too bitter, too sour, salty, pungent, dry, and hot,are liked by people in the mode of passion.Such foods cause pain, distress, and disease.

Foods cooked more that three hours before being eaten, which are tasteless, stale, putrid, decomposed, and unclean, are foods liked by people in the mode of Ignorance

I won't attend Yar'Adua's inauguration—Atiku

By Emmanuel Aziken
Posted to the Web: Monday, May 28, 2007

ABUJA —VICE President Atiku Abubakar said, yesterday, from the United States of America (USA) that he would not dignify the inauguration of Alhaji Umaru Yar'Adua as President tomorrow with his presence for what he called the electoral fraud that produced him (Yar'Adua).

In a message to compatriots styled as his valedictory, the out-going Vice President expressed regrets that the transition was turning into a mournful affair occasioned by the suppression of democracy in the land.

Atiku, the presidential candidate of the Action Congress (AC) in the last election, said he was going ahead to challenge the results of the presidential election in the tribunal in the hope of ensuring that the country was not allowed to sink into the abyss as a result of the last election.

In an unusual departure from recent utterances, the out-going Vice President did not mention President Olusegun Obasanjo once in the 607 worded message, but referred to the altercations between the two of them as having truncated the delivery of democracy dividend. He regretted that useful energies that should have been applied into developing the nation were channelled into harassing him and his aides.
The message:

“Dear Compatriots,

“It is with a great sense of responsibility and concern for the future of our country that I address you at this critical point of our national history.

“I regret that I will not be present at Eagle Square on May 29 to participate in the handover ceremony. I shall not dignify such a hollow ritual with my presence. Like many Nigerians, I will sit at home and meditate over what has befallen our nation and pray that God will disperse these dark clouds gathering over our beloved country.

“All is not well with our country and those who think otherwise cannot really claim to love her. Democracy is in the throes of death in Nigeria and evil forces have laid siege to our country, threatening to unleash unspeakable horrors on our future.

“It is, therefore, not surprising that our nation is at present enveloped in gloom and a sense of foreboding. A transition that should have been marked with pomp and gaiety is now being mourned by most Nigerians. Yet, those who brought us to this sorry pass want to accept this odious situation.

They keep reminding us about the so-called landmark achievement of transiting from one civilian administration to another. And we are left wondering why self-proclaimed people of integrity and honour will want to celebrate a dubious a landmark achievement.

“My position on the April elections is well-known. I do not mind repeating the fact that the April polls were substantially not free, fair and credible.

“If we, as patriots, fail to challenge the travesty that was foisted on the nation in April by a vile and desperate cabal, Nigerian democracy will wither and die. Tyranny will take over, our basic freedoms and rights will vanish and our collective values will be trampled upon without a whimper from a traumatised and cowed populace. Nigeria will again be scorned and shunned by the civilised world.

Our democracy will shrink and sink deeper into depression as a consequence of this isolation and our poverty and misery will deepen. It is to forestall these catastrophic consequences of a deeply flawed election that we have gone to court to ask for the nullification of the presidential election.

“When I left the shores of Nigeria on April 25 for a scheduled check on my injured knee, I did not envisage that it would take such a long time. My knee is healing well and I shall soon return to the country as soon as my doctors certify me fit enough to resume normal life in Nigeria. I am grateful to Nigerians for their prayers, support and well wishes.

“I thank you all for the opportunity to serve as Vice President in the past eight years. I had wished and indeed, worked, for a happy ending of this dispensation. It is regrettable that this has not been the case. I found myself in a peculiar situation in which I had to fight for my political and physical survival.

This needless persecution of my aides, supporters and myself distracted government from the delivery of democracy dividends to Nigerians. I know Nigeria deserves a better deal and how I wish that this passion to improve the lot of every Nigerian was shared by my persecutors who elevated such persecution to a state obligation.

“As we meditate for the survival of democracy in our country, let us be of good cheer because after darkness comes the dawn. May God answer our prayers for the sustenance of democracy in our country.
“I thank you and may God bless you all.”

With respect to God telling Adam and Eve to multiply the earth, that was God's instruction to them at the begining (old testament), Jesus's instruction is for all to be fishers of men, bringing the Gospel to all and sundry (multiplication in the new testament)

@2dye4: From the above post you posted I can see that you don't believe that GOD THE SAME YESTERDAY,TODAY AND FOREVER. Let me tell you something today that your churches can't tell you, whatever God told Adam and Eve in the beggining is still effective today and till eternity. Are you telling me here that the Old testament is no LONGER the WORD of GOD?

Jesus said :I do not come to abolish the law but to fulfill them. same teaching, why are you trying to blaspherm the BIBLE?

Yes your right about the multiplication in the new testament, that way why Jesus did not marry, and he told his Disciples, IF YOU LOVE ME FOLLOW MY COMMANDMENT AND EXAMPLES. One of Jesus examples is that he was a 100% CELIBATE, Now how many so called christains today are celibate,?thereby following the footsteps of Jesus?

May I remind you that the WORD CHRISTIAN comes from the WORD CHRIST. Christian means Christ like. Are you one?

I challenge you to prove me wrong. All the same thanks for knowing JUST a bit of the Bible. grin grin grin One love keeps us together.
