my brother who am i to contest with anybody,i am also learning sir
Chief, what if you're running a recirculating aquaculture system? What should be the stocking density per 1,000litres?
Thanks

Thank you sir. I appreciate.
geesampower:

I sincerely apologize for my late reply.
Absolutely yes. But when you say round the clock, then that would require a battery back up, charge controller and extra solar panels that would cater for the backup charging.
There are grundfos, sunpumps, lorentz pumps that would get the job done

Thank you for the response boss. So in essence no grid tied pump can deliver such flowrate at such low wattage. So what do you advise then? Can a solar pump deliver such flowrate? If yes,how much will the setup cost- cost of solar pump and solar system to power same. The pump will run non-stop. Thank you once again
geesampower:

I am really sorry sir. There is no pump either dc or ac that can deliver that flowrate at that wattage.
And very few pumps use ac and dc interchangeably, so this highly limits your options.
To get that flow-rate you need a pump of at least 2hp and that would require about 2500watts of electricity or more if the pump is not using a BLDC motor.

Hello boss,
I have followed your various posts on solar powered pumps and solar power for home use. I have the following questions on pumps and solar:
1. Is there any low head (20feets) high flow rate (15-20,000ltr/hr) pump that can be powered by both power grid and DC(inverter tie solar) with low wattage less than 400watts? How much does it cost and what is the rating and flowrate?
2. If there is any, and i want to run same for 24hrs none stop (recirculating aquaculture system), how much will such a solar system cost to run the pump only?
I appreciate and anticipate a swift response. Regards

Can see someone posted a cost of N10m above.
Hope he is just kidding.

Hello my ogas, great job you're doing, please i'm a newbie here(agric section) though i'm not new to fish farming...i need a little networking with Oga Lagbaja, i switched to recirculating aquaculture system some months back and i stumbled on his 2013 post about a certain kind of pump - resun pump which he said can deliver 13,000ltr/hr and consumes about 200watts. Please help a brother, i'm in dire need of this kind of pump at the moment. Please help me draw Mr Lagbaja's attention to my post.
Regards

While construction is still ongoing in the earthen nursery and concrete hatchery, we have concluded construction in the wooden vat hatchery and spawning has commenced.. pix below.

One of the aerator stones in action in one of the hatchery vat, we use combined system of aerating the vat and flow-through.. its very perfect for fries constant oxygen and fresh water..

One of the bio-disc immersed in the vats few minute before spawning to energize the water... it gives 80-90 percent of hatching and wellness to fries..

Energizing the water used for mixing the eggs and sperm with a bio disc.

Dissecting the male and removal of the milt (sperm sack)

The milt is placed for 5 minutes on a container with the energized water this helps to energize the milt because original bio disc contains scaler energy so it transmit this energy to and the living materials around it.

Already striped female eggs ready for fertilization..

When I say 1kg of melange, I do not mean a single table size catfish. When buyers buy, they buy per kg ( 3 or 4 fishes makes a kg of melange) so it makes business sense to estimate cost per kg of melange instead of unit cost of melange. It is erroneous to estimate a unit cost of melange as you did because no 2 persons sell melange at same average size.
Hello chairman, please you once mention a certain kind of pump when you discussed about recirculating aquaculture system and it's advantage over other methods in a 2013 post...Resun pump with capacity to pump 13,000ltrs/hr, if you recollect, please where can i get the pump,i find it appropriate for my RAS based on the low energy requirement. I have looked around Ibadan and none seem close to that. Thanks
