Religion / Re: Is It Right For A Church To Invite Comedian To Crack Joke On The 'pulpit' ? by bkgabriel: 5:56pm On Nov 12, 2020 |
donnie: Hi Donnie, you must understand, the Word of God says: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the POWER OF GOD to SALVATION to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16. Yes Christianity is not a religion, it is about a King and His kingdom. I just have a couple of questions for you: - Does the entertainment brought on the pulpit have the power to save a man? What's the essence of laughing at church only to return with the issues you came to church with or return with something worse? - As funny as Jesus was, He never cracked a joke. He said what He meant and meant what He said, that's why His words endure till now. We quote Jesus' words and demons are cast out. Can we quote the word of comedians to have those words powerful enough to drive out demons? We're talking about real problems here and need real solutions. We have boko haram, unemployment, corruption, End SARS the list is endless. We need to get back to basics. To what Jesus and the Apostles laid down for us, to what the bible says, not go with what's trending. We need real power to solve real problems. You must also remember Paul says: And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power. 1Corinthians 2:4 - Can the entertainment by the comedians demonstrate the Spirit and power? If they can, let them ride on. If not, we're just joking to think the world will not run us over with what we're putting out. Why won't the world call us non-essential. During Covid-19, they opened banks, bars etc, but locked down the church because in their eyes, the church is a non-essential. Anyways, the things they locked down are the things that addressed themselves as non-essentials. For the way you dress is the way you'll be addressed. The true church will rise to profer solutions to this dying world. These ones will properly define what the Church is to the world such that when they think of the church, they'll think of solutions rather than non-essential. 1, Blow you the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD comes, for it is near at hand; 2, A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread on the mountains: a great people and a strong; there has not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. 3, A fire devours before them; and behind them a flame burns: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yes, and nothing shall escape them. 4, The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. 5, Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devours the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array. 6, Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness. 7, They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks: 8, Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall on the sword, they shall not be wounded. 9, They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run on the wall, they shall climb up on the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief. 10, The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: 11, And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executes his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it? - Joel 2:1-11 Finally For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. 1Corinthians 4:20. Power to effect changes on the earth. |
