Hello House, Please I need this information for my BIL. He sent me this... At the interview for visa we mentioned vacation at Washington and we plan to stay for just 2weeks. Now I'm planning to change and come to either California or even Texas. My thought is won't they query why not Washington? I would appreciate any advice to him. Thanks. |

@TWoods I see why you have plenty "common enemies" here on this platform. Even when you pass a valid or vital information you do it in a very unpolite and most times rude way. I had to go read your past posts and in most cases you are either attacking or defending, never really communicating. I think you should work on it. You can make comments without making people feel slighted or insulted. 8 Likes |

TWoods: In my opinion, all I've read here and people's experience, this forum has being very educative and affirmative about how to truthfully go about your visa application and interview process. If you read carefully the experience that people share lately, you will notice that people's orientation about lying during these processes have changed. The forum has succeeded in dissuading people here who care to listen from going for their interview with the intention to lie about their pregnancy status. In my view, if some of us sent or are planning to send a letter of Intent, it is most likely because we made a honest mistake or took a late decision that we do not what to hunt us down or tarnish our image and also to maintain our integrity. I also think the reply we get from the embassy though generic, its a direct response to our inquiry and suffices as evidence that you try to correct the 'intended misrepresentation', and I must agree with you, it isn't and shouldn't be 'standard procedure'. Just my 2cent. 5 Likes |

TWoods: I appreciate your polite insult, and I'll just ignore it. I believe she sent another post shortly after the one you quoted, and it read something like... veegurl:In addition, If you read my post on my experience at Houston POE, you will see that the reply I received about my change of intention from the US embassy, just last month (May 2017) also saved the day for me. Then again, what do I know really, I just have itchy fingers. 8 Likes |

TWoods: This information is not correct. The need to inform the embassy about your change of intent always comes after you have gone for your interview and/or already have your visa. So which interview again are you referring to? If you send the email to LagosNIV@state.gov you will get a reply. It usually comes in this format after a couple of days...(This is what you print as evidence). Thank you for your inquiry. Please note that there is no legal requirement to inform us that you are seeking to give birth in the United States or that your purpose of travel has changed. The Customs and Border Protection, a branch of USCIS, determines a traveler’s eligibility of entry to the U.S, you should be prepared to demonstrate to the immigration officer at the port of entry why you are seeking medical treatment and that you have logistical and financial plans for the treatment. You should show the border protection agents upon arrival in the U.S. your detailed birth plan, which would include correspondence with your doctor, the cost of the delivery, any receipts showing prepayments for care and evidence that you have the ability to pay for all costs while in the U.S. up to and including your living expenses. We recommend that you review the regulations on non-immigrant aliens entering the United States for purposes of childbirth at https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/882/~/visit-the-u.s.-while-pregnant-and-the-risks-involved and plan accordingly. Please you should not stay in the U.S. longer than you are permitted by Customs and Border Protection at the port of entry. The Department of Homeland Security at the port of entry will determine your eligibility to enter the United States on any travel. If you choose to give birth in the U.S., we advise you to bring evidence of payment, both when you enter the U.S. on this visit, and at your future U.S. visa interviews. Iong post alert: In the spirit of giving back, I'd like to share my experience at the dreaded Houston POE. Even though I feel hurt that since I join this forum, the 2 post I had posted for inquiries have been deleted, and I really don't why. It's all good, cos I still was diligent in reading the threads and equipping myself. I got my visa on a vigin passport in Feb 2017 and didn't know I was pregnant until weeks later, and when asked by the Vo then I said I wasn't. Was doing research online and bumped on this platform, where I keenly followed the Change of Intent info. I sent my change of intent sometime in April as I was planning to travel in June. Got the reply..."I'm not obligated to tell them, but be able to prove at POE I can handle my bills etc" To cut the long story...Got to the airport(Abuja) June 4 while checking in at Lufthansa, the lady asked if I was pregnant I said yes, she asked if I had my fit to fly, I said yes, she said I'll need the port healthy cert. I told her I'm only 22 weeks and according to their online info, I wouldn't need that except from 35weeks, she insisted. I went to the portal and the lady said it was 2k, I said I thought it was 1k5, she said no, I just gave her the 2k. She took my temperature and BP and gave me the receipt. Finished everything and we took off by 10:20pm for Frankfurt. Food was horrible- I begin purge for plane. Thank God I sat close to the lavatory. 4hrs layover and we were Houston bound - I no gree chop again, just asked for their dry bread, butter with Coke. Landed at Houston June 5 around 1:30pm US time (just like I read here) target one young innocent looking CBP guy and stayed on his queue... CBP- Good afternoon ma'am, passport plz? Me- Good afternoon (hands it) Cbp- why are you in the US Me- Vacation and Childbirth (looking a bit disoriented and was signalling for a colleague) Cbp- How long are you staying Me- 5months Me - I have made some deposit at the hospital and I have correspondence with my doctor. Cpb- plz let me have them. (Still calling his colleauge) Me- (hands them to him) At this time the colleague comes and he explains to him- This is her 1st time in the US and she plans to give birth, these are correspondence with her doctor and deposit receipt... Cbp2 - who will you be staying with Me- my sister in Dallas. Cbp2 - Are you giving birth in Dallas Me- Yes, Baylor Scott and White Hospital is also in Dallas. Cbp2- during your interview, did you start this intention? Me- no, because I didn't know at the time, but I sent a change of intent letter (reaching for the reply) and this was the reply I got. He takes his time to read it and hands it back. Cbp2 - I see you have paid $1000 deposit, how much is everything going to cost u? Me- about $6k5 Cbp2 - V or Cs Me- V. Cbp1- I see you have $8k5 with you. Me- yes, should I show you. Cbp2- yes, but be careful, you don't want to call any attention to yourself. Showed them in my purse Cbp2- all 100bills Me- yes. CBP 2- How did you get all this cash Me- part of my savings from salary and most from my husband. Cbp2- is your husband joining you Me- yes, much later Cbp1- what do you do? Me- Program and Communications Officer with.... Cbp1- Your husband? Me- He is bleep bleep at..... Cbp1- plz place your fingers on the machine CBP2- make sure you keep all your receipt, cos we will request for it the next time you come. Also, do not accept any medicare here cos it will affect you visa and return to the states. Welcome to the US (CBP1 was stamping my passport already) Went to find my United Airline for my connecting flight to Dallas Forth Worth. After plenty delay, I reach home finially. A word of advice - be confident and carry plenty money. Ps: Don't blame your family, friends and relatives abroad. They dont have the info you want because they don't need it (their life na easy one as citizens), and you have to politely educate them, before you become Mrs know know and oversabi for their own country. My sisters will tell me, "we no know ooo", do your research and we will help you verify here. many thanks to everyone who has contributed on this platform . Your experiences has help naive JJC like me. We're expecting our baby 1St week in October. First appointment is this weekend. Keep us in your prayers. 13 Likes |

Hello house, plz I need clarification on sometime. I'm flying Lufthansa next month and I'll be 22 weeks pregnant then. Please has anyone flew Lufthansa recently and what do I need to send, take or hold for the airline? Also will I need to do the medical clearance at the airport too? Any other advice will be appreciated. I'm taking a fit to fly from my doctor though, just in case. |

Hello House, I've been a loyal reader of this thread since a friend recommended it recently, and i would appreciate your advice as I am yet to read any similar experience. Warning: Long post! DH and I got our visa in Feb 2017 and when asked I said I wasn't pregnant, because hospital result showed at that time that I wasn't (even though we have being trying). During the interview, the lady said I could go give birth but must keep all my documents(I guess this is routine statement). A few weeks later another hospital confirmed I've been pregnant since January. We had lost our first pregnancy due to hospital carelessness and negligence, and the hospitals we starting their drama again. DH and I did not initially think of having our baby (our 1st) in US until late April and we have decided. I have family in Dallas, Houston and North Carolina, and my sister has helped secure a hospital in Dallas were we plan to use. Please note that: 1. This will be my first trip to the US (in fact, my visa was stamped on a virgin passport). 2. Our vacation trip wasn't until later in the year, now the plan is to go give birth. 3. I'm planning to travel in June( flight with lufthansa has been secured) and stay till after I give birth sometime in October. I've read about the letter change of intent and experiences at POE. My fear now: 1. Is it not to late now to send the "change of intent" letter (as I will be leaving in June) and considering the fact that this is my first time, how easy will that be granted? 2. I want to carry enough cash to pay my bills and I want to tell the CBP at POE that I plan to give birth and return ( I'm staying that long to have better prenatal care cos of previous experience ) to Nigeria. We have discussed the option of going and coming and going again, and that will involve a lot of cash, and I no get that kind money ibeg. Your constructive advise will be appreciated. Thanks in anticipation. |
