Career / Re: FG Set To Sack 3,500 Staff by blackRagna: 7:13pm On Feb 14, 2017 |
yommen: no. for example, the 66 people listed in the ministry of communication are 99% young people who have been working since 2015. most of them just got married. some left their father's homes to start a new life in Abuja only to get this news after 2 years. mind you, the documentation process before these people started receiving salary included verification of authenticity of appointment and approval from the civil service commission before they are captured in the IPPIS. Now they turn to just throw off 3,500 people with an average of 4 dependants per person. 2 Likes |

This information would be on front page if the father mother brother sister cousin of any of the nairaland mods were affected by this mass sack. if it was Tonto or Big Brother Nigeria or some crap that doesn't impact negatively or positively in the life of Nigerians, then it would have been put on front page for Nigerians to be aware. 1 Like |

cobadit: Let us take the Ministry Of Communication for example. There are 66 people who are about to lose their job. When they were employed, the ministry sent the names of these people to the FEDERAL CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION for the COMMISSION to verify that the letters of appointment presented by these new people are actually from the FEDERAL CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION. The FEDERAL CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION replied to say the letters were actually from the FEDERAL CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION and were authentic. Now they turn around -after 2 years when most of these people who had to leave everything behind and relocate to Abuja for this job - and try to cut them off from their jobs . Just like that. Most of these people are young men and women with parents and children and siblings who depend on them financially. The effect of this mass sacking goes deep into the society. |

So I got to work on Monday and was greeted by the news about a list of 66 people to be sacked from the Federal Ministry of Communication and their names deleted from the IPPIS, which would stop their salary. This was a directive from the chairman of the FEDERAL CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION. They said that FEDERAL CHARACTER was not followed in the employment of the 66 people to be sacked. Let me point out that some names which are supposed to be in the list had been removed or mischievously omitted because they are belong to children of the high and mighty in the society. This is also happening in other ministries too and it would affect not less than 500 people. Over 200 people in The ministry of Education are to be sacked too. These are young people who have families and other people who depend on them for their livelihood, even in this harsh times when the salary can hardly take care of basic needs. It is very sad. Is this what we were promised ? The present government promised Nigerians jobs and youth empowerment but they come in and seek to take jobs away from Nigerians. Is the sacking of these civil servants really the way forward for the country right now ? Is this the best thing our chairman of the FEDERAL CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION could come up with ? If federal character was not followed in the employment of these people, can it not be addressed in subsequent employments rather than cutting off the livelihood of people who rather work than stay at home and be idle ? Many of these people had to leave their comfort zones in order to take up the job offer. they came to Abuja and have started a new life and some have even gotten married within the 2 years they started working and now chairman of the FEDERAL CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION thinks it is a nice idea to put a whole lot of people into a shocking state of confusion and instability. Where is the human face in all of this ? How does this help in the progress of our country ? Bloggers and Social media news people, you are invited to the office of the chairman of the FEDERAL CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION and the Federal Ministry of Communication, Abuja to look into this matter and let Nigerians Know what is happening.
