WinMagnate: Hmmm..you are a truly nice person, most people who suffered what we suffered would have allowed them to drink from the same calabash we did lol. Everything he says is 100% true, things have improved since the start of this month, but that was exactly how he started June before the over 70% failure rate. But to be fair to Ariwodo, I am in other paid VIPs and it's the same for most of them. Only one VIP consistently gave me a 70% win rate last month, though he has started terribly this month and now sef Ariwodo is out perfoming him. Sha the month just started. Forget any online hype, I'd advise anyone to stay away from paid VIPs unless someone you trust vouches for them. 4 Likes |

eseka12: Chairman, first appreciation for all you do 🙌. Now, I think you should reconsider your Galatasaray and maybe even Fenerbache picks. The Turkish league does not use goal difference to decide if teams are tied, they use head to head. This mean if Fernerbache wins, they win the league if Gala fails to get a point in there next match. Also the team Gala is playing in their next match needs a draw to be sure they survive relegation due to the same Head to Head rule. This mean a 0-0 in Gala's next match favours both teams involved (Gala & Konya) Again, appreciation for all you do 🙌. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Also after cashing out you can still play the 5 remanining games with 100k if you believe so much in them. With those odds you have their it could get you another N2m. 3 Likes |

OLamylove: There is no shortcut to peace of mind in this country. I followed Ceejay's manifesto years ago, and I have only grown and had peace since then, spending less than a quarter of what others around me have to have for 24hrs light. Read and understand the first few pages and then visit the market. Most of the contacts/sellers are still there and helpful. Thats if you are in Lagos. Anyway, tell us your load and budget and people will chip in with advice |

tipsy242: We have had bad stories on here of people who connected inverters directly to stabilizers, and most people here would discourage you not to do that. Personally I use an old skool rugged indian inverter (mpower/luminous) which acts as my own stabilzer lol....I have had high and low voltage that damaged all equipment in my building and (I can still remember my neighbors screams in the night), the worst it ever did to my inverter was blow the fuse in the inverter, which is easily changeable for me. Anyway Famicare tends to be more Chinese so if you want to protect your inverter, I'd recommend using those simple voltage cutout sockets (3k). Also for your battery issue, it seems normal as long as you are putting good load on it. Give us an idea of the load you put on it so we can be sure and also is it sealed or wet. Indian batteries tend to drop voltage like that when they are not charging but it is normal as long as its adequate load causing it. |

HenryDion: No one wants to be a lab rat but this solar journey is not for people who expect just to get everything working out of the box and put in zero effort, though by coming here and asking the questions you have asked you do not seem to be one sha. That quote you dropped is high to adequate; but can you get more for the money you are about to spend- the answer is a loud "Yes". Doing this however will involve checking out the real market (like Ceejay advised) and going through this thread which always helps. Anyway, on your Addo battery, I was about to say a loud "No" but google seems to suggest they are an indian brand/ marketer and they use rebadged Amaron batteries, which if you have paid attention on the solar threads on here is a good thing. So if you really want no stress, visit there office and see if they look serious, the items they have quoted for you will carry your stated load sufficiently (though having more battery power can never be a bad thing). But I repeat, that your budget can more than solve your stated power needs, Just do a little more personal research and you would end up more satisfied. 1 Like |

Namzy: Oga Namzy, there was little wrong about the assumption- he is correct in this aspect below: airsaylongcome:. Funnily your post actually confirms he was correct. The fact remains that if both the 300W and 400W panels are exactly the same physical size and are able to fill/occupy the same exact physical space, they both receive the same amount of energy here (sunlight/irradiation) by default, however one (the 400w), is able to convert and produce more power than the other, for reasons we don't need to delve in. Simply put, if they were car engines, we poured 50 liters in both of them while one produced more power than the other; however the fact remains we still poured the same amount of fuel in both of them but one did more with it. Probably not the best analogy but the easiest I could use here. You are however 100% right in your explanations to him and to to how the concept of efficiency should be looked at. 2 Likes |

saint2ace: Lol @ the watching a movie bit bro, I believe its a compliment. I was certain you were the lucky person who came before me and scooped away most of the Quantas, he said the person was also a nairalander and was the person who even made him sell cheaper. Funnily I use the Wanlesanhe to charge the Quanta's and it usually takes it to 14.2v with no issues noticed. I once tried to go higher with the charger in manual mode and instantly I stopped once I started smelling acid. Even my solar is set to take it to 14.4 and not noticed any degradation yet. I can't remember where i read that it's a good thing to take used LA batteries above their manufacturer voltage.... apparently helps to fight sulphation. Good battery brands make sense, a word is enough for the wise on this. 3 Likes |

taiwooguns33: Ok this is going to be long, but I should have dropped this post ages ago. Late last year I was in the need of some new batteries as my gels had died prematurely and my experiment of using car batteries as backup was becoming spent. Luckily for me, one of the top posters on the top alternative energy thread on NL posted that he had some used batteries for sale. A hoard of Quanta and Genus batteries. My instinct was to seal the deal on the Quantas as universal (including international) feedback on them has been positive, the only issue was the said poster felt that the Quantas were "average" and he could only vouch for the Genus. I got to his house, as lovers of AE we gisted a bit. He brought out a device, I am almost certain it is better than the one you posted and tested the batteries for me. The Genus passed the test with flying colours while the Quantas performed poorly. He then taught me a very important lesson about "Resistance" which is one of the main parameters these devices use to tell you if a battery is good or not. In simple terms for us here, Resistance is how well a battery holds a load without dropping voltage i.e. if I put 12 amps on a 200amp battery that has been fully charged and reads 13v.... roughly it should maintain 12.7-12.8v (12.7 is a full battery) for at least 30 mins or more. So long and short, the measure of voltage drop when load is applied. The Quantas failed miserably in this. So I went ahead, against my instinct, and only got 2 of the Quantas and then 2 Genus as my host had been kind enough to educate me and give me the history of the batteries (the Genus were clearly newer and seemed to have also been charged regularly with Solar, and the Quantas looked abandoned). The price of the Genus was almost double the Quanta because he could vouch for them. In fact he was kind enough to still give me a discount on the Quantas further. Easily my best experience buying batteries. Once I got home, for the first few days, my Walensehe was exclusively charging the "Average" Quantas individually. I had about 2 ammeters at that time so I was easily able to measure amps going into the battery and amps going out. Within 2 days I was messaging my host that the scrap Quantas were easily giving me 100amps individually and staying above 12.2v. I thanked him profusely. After a week or 2 I decided to try my "genius" Genus batteies which I now wanted to sell seeing as the 2 Amarons are quite sufficient for my power needs. Once again I tetsted individually. I slapped 12amps of load on it and again it was doing perfect, voltage not even flickering and staying above 12.8v. I felt so blessed. Not up to 2 hours I heard a strange cry......my inverter was screaming .....I checked all my devices and I couldn't believe what I saw. Voltage on my Genus was saying 10.5....I checked load, still the same 12 amps and finally I checked my cumulative amps 16amps!! 16amps from a 200 amp battery that had passed all tests and I bought at a premium!! I was stunned. I quickly tested the second one and the exact same behaviour was noticed. It cut off at around 17amps. I don't think any batterys have shocked me as badly as this did. Now i did not inform my gracious host about this as it clearly was not his fault. These are the dangers of buying used batteries, they are a gamble, and you must always be ready to sell as scrap. But the lessons learned are tremendous. I also blamed myself a bit and I would tell you why. You see I did not want to buy the brand Genus, as i had previous experience of it. A friend that I had introduced to the inverter world earlier bought 2 brand new batteries from the main distributor Simba and within 6 months he was calling in warranty and they replaced one for him. I put it down to the fact that the cheap inverter he got from Simba could have poorly charged it. A few months later the whole system became pointless. That was my experience of Genus and why I showed hesitation in buying them. So to answer your question, no test is superior to a properly run load test.... and clearly a properly run load test for Hours and not a few seconds as these devices do! 4 months later, I am still enjoying my Quantas- even added solar and the Genus bank (now connected together in parallel) can now produce 60amps ( from 400 oh, lol) but only about 50 amps if put on that same load of 12 amps. @ saint2ace How far? Did you also buy the Genus or only the Quanta? 3 Likes 1 Share |

mvphenryeto5: I dont get it, what is the relationship between your initial question of Luminous snd the trailer truck battery you mentioned?? Anyway just to double down on Valto's advice, the new Luminous batteries being supplied in Nigeria by Simba group keep giving people serious tales of woe.... infact I am sure they are one of the main parties responsible for why so many Nigerians feel buying batteries and inverters are a waste as they are the main player in the market. 2 Likes |

ceejay80s: Sorry Ceejay, usually here later in the night, so my responses won't be regular. So remember, I mainly bought it to fix my Ritar 150AH which turned out irredeemable, it's done well on my AGM Calcium car battery, but even that has not been put back in my car for testing as its currently parked and immobile. Now I've used it mainly for my gel 200AH batteries and it takes it ages to get to the preset of 14.4v....infact only one gel battery has completed the full cycle with the charger, with the other one staying on and endless float charge of 0.2A. Recently I am cautious with leaving the charger too long on my gel batteries as I'm afraid it could overcharge the batteries as a consistent float of 14.4v for gel "might" not be a good thing for the chemistry. My inverter and my 20amp suoer charger are happy to float my batteries at 13.6-13.8v. My belief (which you all can correct me on) is that this kind of charging algorithm maybe more suitable for AGM,FLA and Lithium. However I am very happy with the charger as it is quite reliable, seems to do well with NEPA light and is not heavy on a generator. Also the always on voltmeter display is very very helpful. My gel batteries currently parallel sit at 13.4v (truly 13.2v) once NEPA is off. Even when load is added it takes it a while (sometimes 2 -3 hours) before it drops to 12.9 (truly 12.7). So I am happy, though I can't 100% say if it is the charger, the batteries or the gel chemistry. 1 Like |

ceejay80s: Oyinbo don go far . However I think our boys are still reviving them back for sale. The last time I sold off my SLA battery in Oshodi I stayed in the market longer to buy other things. Lo and behold an hour later I was told that the person who bought it had tested it by charging it only to find out water was coming out of it. This was definitely true as I had added distilled water to it in a last ditch attempt to revive it. He subsequently paid me lower money than what we agreed because of this. So I am quite sure most buyers are reselling those batteries. |

ceejay80s: Yeah the fan is always on, no matter how little the current is which is a bit unusual. Besides the 0.2v issue, the charger is pretty ok, though I still don't understand the manual charging and how it works as it seems to be still doing smart charging, though it allows you to adjust the voltage. The main reason I bought it was to revive 2 batteries. My car battery, which now seems to be ok but more importantly my 5 year old tokunbo Ritar telecom which it took almost a week to get full. Once I tried the load test the voltage dropped drastically and I then decided to use the manual charging to make things faster.... within a few hours the battery was swelling and smelling and I had to shut it down. The funny thing is that I gave it a day and the swelling disappeared like magic lol. I tried a load test and it failed again. I might still use it on that battery for a month (in smart mode). The on-display voltage is useful to me though as I use it offline to monitor my inverter's (India) charger as I blame it for spoiling my Ritar. Chinese seem to know more about charging than these Indians |

ceejay80s: I wanted to mention Anyanwu but he's still owing me a 30amp charger oooo lol ... but he's definitely better than most of those Arena guys. About the Walasanhe charger Ceejay, I bought it after your recommendation but noticed my unit is usually .2 volts higher than my multimeter.... so I usually turn my load off at the 12.5v reading it gives which I take as 12.3v (which should still represent 50% DOD). Have you tried independently testing the reading to confirm yours isn't off too? |

micynute94: I think most people have kept quiet on your post because of your budget, which is sad because the aim of this thread originally was to show great things could still be achieved even within a small budget. Anyway my advice will be on what I know. I currently run my laptop from about 8am to 7pm everyday, usually with NEPA only coming in the evening. I have 2 seconddhand 200A gel batteries (3 months old now) , and funnily I run them on a 12v system one week at a time (meaning I alternate, I have chosen not to parallel them yet as I have been testing their capacity). My single battery load with the laptop and energy efficient lights I run never gets below a healthy 12.3 volts with the said load for that duration. Simply put, I think you should get a 200Ah battery because of oversizing. Now since I discovered this thread almost 5 years ago I have used 4 batteries in total (all 2nd hand). A great Ritar 150Ah telecom battery which I bought by following Ceejays initial manifesto word for word (30k @ that time). That lasted me till early this year before it started dying off. 2 years into using that battery I got another great deal for a used Fullriver 200Ah battery. It did not last for up to 2 weeks before I realised it was pointless. However I lost almost no money on it because of the price I bought it for(18k) and i disposed of it after 6 months . Then earlier this year another good deal for these 2 batteries came up and I jumped on it, afraid (50% success at that time), but knowing I had little choice as my faithful Ritar was dying fast. These 2 200AH gel have been excellent and yes they are Ritar Batteries again but different chemistry from the earlier telecom Ritar. The moral of my story is in 5 years I have had a 75% success rate with used batteries and in total not spent up to N140k which is the price for a single top of the line Ritar or Fullriver. So I have achieved 550AH easily below my budget. Your challenge is the battery. Once you get a good battery everything else is an appendage. Don't be scared of your budget, look for deals.... your best bet are decommissioned battery banks for telecoms, hotels or banks. Trusted 2nd hand battery sellers are now rare but still an option. If you consider a new battery it will clear your 80k budget and honestly from my experience it isn't guaranteed that you wont experience battery failure. That's my 2 cents. Ooo and before I forget, I have a power hungry Dell laptop that takes 65 -70w... but thats only when charging. Test your laptop again and you will see that when the battery is full the laptop takes only half the power to run, mine takes 25w on power saving. So your consumption on an inverter is even less than you think. 5 Likes |

Every few months we go through this cycle. Nzeogwu was a patriot and probably one of the greatest patriots we ever had in this country. The 1966 was never envisioned by him or the other idealist to be an Igbo coup or a power grab by the Igbo; but unfortunately for him and later the Igbo as a whole, a lot of his Igbo collabarators showed the typical selfish Nigeria tendencies which ensured it will always be seen as an Igbo Coup and power grab. Nzeogwu had by far the hardest job of all the coup plotters and completed it masterfully and successfully like only a true idealist moved by genuine passion could. While his selfish brothers allowed their tribalistic nature to get the best of them and come up will silly stories of crosses and bishops not allowing them to execute the easiset of objectives in their own backyard. The only moral of the Nzeogwu story and his subsequent death and rejection by his tribe is to choose your friends more wisely. He will always remain my greatest young Nigerian of that era. Even the snake and northern puppet OBJ cannot say bad things about him. Infact no northern officer that knew him at that time ever did. It's his kith and kin that betrayed him in life that keep spoiling his memory in death |
