Education / Social Media, The Other Side: A Bad Influence by bonasco10: 4:27pm On Aug 29, 2022
THE SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCE

The influence of social media (SM) technology is wild and far reaching. It's vast and globalistic attributes is one that have brought both joy and pain, love and acrimony, a facade of peace and a backdrop of anarchy and many more to the world.

While it has been all fun, free and full with varieties - SM has shown over time that the magnitude of its potential to be effectively weaponised (or used as a tool of influence) is exponentially inundating.

No matter the jurisdiction of application, the potential factor to exploit and influence are embedded.

Social media for all its benefits tend to have pushed us farther apart from reality.
We became interconnected across the globe ; yet we are more distant than ever in human history.
People fancy taking a picture than saving a life that's in danger.
We have had more evidences to show, yet witnessed so little justice.
We have more opinions but lack understanding and are more divided than ever before in history.
Yes we have made work easy with Sm, yet we have complained the most.
People now leave in the virtual world more than they do in the real world.
We live in the most prosperous times in human history, yet we have the highest rate of depression and suicide.
We claim to love but we can only show it when there is a camera.
The family time has been replaced with the "Phone time".
We have more standards yet less value than ever before.
We demand privacy yet we give out our private life all on SM just for validation. How ironic eeh.

These absurdities and many more have been accelerated in numbers beyond measure solely by the propagation and indulgence in social media. Imagine how effective weaponising SM has been and can still be.

As Tristan said (Social dilemma) that, "Social media isn't the existential threat. But that it triggers the user who then becomes an existent threat to society".

It's Level of influence is robust and highly effective. The scary part is that this can happen sub-consiously with the user oblivious of the apparent influence it's having on them.
Reason why a lot of people on SM don't even know they're are toxic even when it's evidently so.

I look at SM and all I see are these traits all over the place. People with no opinions of their own, people seeking validation from others, fakeness in extreme measures, the penchant for mockery even on seemingly serious issues, the need to be right and never acknowledged failings, hate and disdain for opposition opinion and all that. And many more absurdity that pollute the human mind. That's the risks involved in using social media.

And just as Maxi said "These things have, and are threatening the fabric of our society. It's hard to have an opinion apart from another without passing off as an enemy. I mean, it's no longer acceptable to be differently opinionated. The toxicity is at an all time high.

The propagandas that have been carried out through social media have had dire human consequences".

These are typical of the concerns I share. The rate at which the influence of SM is manifesting could prove devastating for our entire societal existence.
I fear for the coming generations and what will be of their lives.
These effects are more psychological than physical. The physical only being the manifestation of what's been psychologically imprinted/projected into the mind.

Social media apps and products are designed to keep for as long as possible. Therefore they are purposely designed to be "Addictive". Yes! SM can be an addiction. They are made to ensure that you come back for more.
These can be done through several psychology driven features.
The features portray a facade that is different from the actual purpose of ensuring you remain committed to usage. Features like :

- The "Like button ()
- Comment
- Retweet
- Continuous up to down scrolling
- the "A is typing...." Etc..

These are all tools to keep you there or to make you return back.
The "like" button plays on the psychology of humans to seek validation or approval (or disapproval) for their looks, comments etc. Therefore, the more the likes, the more you are incentivized to post more of your content.
This is why a lot people can't tell the difference between the social media world and the real world. And same reason people have to be fake, people are more depressed because they can't handle rejection, people get bullied, people lack self confidence etc...
And while you're at it, you give up all your data and personal information to the whole world. So much for a generation that always scream "I want my privacy". Lolzz.

The covid pandemic exposed a lot of things to me.
Every top world Billionaires double or tripled their net worths during the pandemic.
This is to tell you that people spend more while they're at home than when they leave their homes everyday. In other words these large corporations make more money when you're at home.

So the algorithms of SM is designed to keep you engaged to it for as long as possible. The more engaged you are, the more time you spend on them, the more money they make.
If you're not paying for the product, then " you are the product".

The lockdown saw SM garner the peak of its use. Because people were stuck with it. And activities on SM platforms was a great influence. Did you ever wonder why it seem like everything on the social media space got off worse just after the pandemic? People where influence consciously or subconsciously

The effective way to combat these influences is to be aware of their existence in the first place. Self awareness. One must know when the boundaries are been exceeded and curtain them abruptly.
The more self-aware people are, the better their chances at the fight against this psychological shortchange by social media giants.

Parenting will be doubly hard for our generation. It's going to have to take the rod more than ever. Otherwise, weak men is what will be of our next generation. And we know weak men bring hard times.

Instead of spending countless hours on SM platforms, read Books. Generations before did that and they were the best inventors and builders of the the modern world we enjoy today. We can do same for our future generations.
BE AWARE!

Crime / First Bank: Teamapt - Is My Account Comprised? by bonasco10: 12:42pm On Nov 20, 2021
Hello, Nairalanders.

Since this morning I received two debit alerts; one was a 75,600 and the second 25,300 debit.
Now the description is what's baffling. It says:

"fbn/teamapt limited/la//ng"

But the funny thing is, I get this debits but my balance is still up to book (the debits don't actually reflect on it).
I did a little digging online and found out that "TEAMAPT LTD" is actually a financial body/firm in Nigeria.
I hope it's an error and not something serious. My fear now is, could someone be taking a loan on my behalf? Why am I getting this debit almost after every transaction I did?

Pls I want to know if anyone has encountered this problem before. I was thinking of blocking my acct for now to prevent stories.

I hope this is the right section for this. Otherwise, mods pls push it.

Politics / Tanzania President Cancels 'killer Chinese Loan' Worth $10 Bn "Only For Drunks" by bonasco10: 2:47pm On Apr 28, 2020
Tanzania President John Magufuli has cancelled a Chinese loan worth $10 billion signed by his predecessor Jakaya Kikwete to construct a port at Mbegani creek in Bagamoyo over terms and conditions that, he said, beat the logic. Magufuli said that the terms of the Chinese loan agreement could only be accepted by a drunken man.

His predecessor, Jakaya Kikwete had signed the deal with Chinese investors to build the port on condition that they will get 30 years to guarantee on the loan and 99 years uninterrupted lease, according to local media reports.

Another shocking demand made by the Chinese and accepted by Kikwete administration was that the Tanzanian government will have absolutely no power to raise concerns on whoever invests in the port during that period.

Dubbed as the "killer Chinese loan", several organisations and African citizens had demanded the then President to cancle the agreement. They had warned that the move will have dire consequences but their concerns were overlooked and the deal was signed.

However, after coming to power, President Magufuli initiated the renegotiation process and pressed the investors to bring down the lease period to 33 years instead of 99 years signed by the previous government.

Magufuli administration also made it clear that there will be no tax or utility exemption for the Chinese investors and they will need government approval to start new operations at the port. However, the investors didn't meet the deadline issued by the Magufuli government, hence, the agreement got cancelled.

CHINA'S DEBT TRAP

China has often been accused of luring the poor African countries in its debt-trap by providing them loans for much-needed infrastructure projects and then control them when they fail to pay off their debts.

Recently, the Kenyan government had also raised the issue that China was planning to take over one of the country's key seaports after the African country failed to clear its debts. Bejing also got Sri Lanka's Hambantota port on the lease after the island nation failed to clear part of a massive loan.

Politics / Why Namdi Kanu May Be Right About Buhari And Jubril by bonasco10: 1:36pm On Nov 11, 2018
One would wonder why the leader of the indegineous people of Biafra (IPOB), Namdi Kanu would assertion that the president is not Buhari but rather Junril of Sudan.
Well here are some facts and intriguing details that would suggest so or at least raise suspicions:

1. Buhari went for surgery in January.
2. The story was that he didn’t quite make it and was brain-dead.
3. Aisha came back crying in April.
4. Aisha was later barred by Mamman Daura and Abba Kyari from seeing Buhari.
5. In June/July, Buhari started receiving visitors in London.
6. Story was that he was always laughing (methinks his double was still learning the ropes and was always laughing to hide what he didn’t know).
7. Buhari supposedly arrived Nigeria in July.
8. The Buhari wasn’t holding meetings or seen in public.
9. The Buhari became more vicious (even beyond his own evil threshold).
10. Nnamdi Kanu alleged he was Jubrin, buhari’s look-alike from Sudan and not Buhari.
11. FFK had a private interview alleging it was a double (buhari’s look-alike, Jubrin from Sudan)
masquerading as president buhari.
12. AIT was threatened with calamity should the interview be aired.
13. The interview was docked and AIT paid.
14. Ango Abdulahi had earlier alleged he was a double Buhari.
15. The Army was sent to attack Nnamdi Kanu and kill him so that the information will be buried, unfortunately for the Army Nnamdi Kanu disappeared and appeared in Israel.
16. The attack was most unwise and was too risky to the country, yet it happened (the cabal wants
the story dead by whatever means).
17. The IPOB attack backfired, even Orji Uzo Kanu who was contracted to execute Nnamdi Kanu’s assassination now dumped by APC and barred from traveling out of Nigeria because of the failed contract.
18. The world powers commenced asking questions.
19. The London surgeons are being questioned.
20. America, UK, France are smelling blood and seek engagements.
21. Buhari or Jubrin/Cabal are vulnerable and pull out of most global organizations.
22. The alleged double (buhari’s look-alike, Jubrin from Sudan) doesn’t look up the few times he’s in public.
23. The alleged double seems 15yrs younger.
24. The alleged double is somewhat shorter than the twin.
25. The alleged double has a different earlobe.
26. The alleged double has a hairline a distance away from the ears.
27. The alleged double is darker brown.
28. No one undergoing chemotherapy would have facial hair intact at the time.
29. The new Buhari sees without glasses.
30. The new one has a different nose; beaked like an Arab’s.
31. Remembered the Rat invested President’s office saga that made him stay away from his office ??…. It was all a cabal lie! The real reason was because the fingerprint of the new Buhari couldn’t open the door of the Real PMB, the Cabal cooked the story in other to buy more time and use the avenue to remove the old security doors and replace with new ones. You could remember that everything in the president’s office was removed and replaced with new one before the fake Buhari entered.
32. Zahra complains to the minister and not her “father”.
32. The Army is suddenly very powerful and
extremely dumb!
33. All Buhari children and his wife are no more in Aso Rock, the wife is under Oath not to say the truth or she will be killed by the Cabal.
34. UK and USA know the truth but used the opportunity to negotiate for more economic interest with the capal.
35. In other to satisfy external interest and embezzle more money by the Cabal, Nigerian economy is now the Headquarters of poverty in the world according to global rating index.

The Cabal is not interested in improving the economy of Nigeria, they are like Yahoo boys or a kidnapper who has kidnapped the entire economy. Since the fake Buhari entered, have you witnessed a major project going on in Nigeria. You only hear of promises and 1000 lies from Lai Muhammad. You will discover everything here to be true.

I'm very sad for his demise and I'm more pissed by this report that he resisted when asked for the car keys.. First off, he is my parish priest I'm from amucha.
What you should know about Fr Jude is that he is one of the most outspoken priest I've ever know. He fears no authority, his willingness to call out evil or wrong is second to non. He is very fearless and soccum to no one. He tells you as it is right in your face.
This is a clear case of assassination noting more. What is car that he will refuse to give. He was shot more than 9 times. It's clearly an assassination. Pls correct that impression.
RIP Fr Jude. Last I spoke with him was February this year.

So it didn't occur to you to explain what the "double intake" education system mean?

Half education is worse than not knowing at all.

If you are a good student and have a nack for knowledge you would research on it your self.

Sports / No C.ronaldo!! Real Have Lowest Attendance In 10 Years by bonasco10: 8:35am On Aug 20, 2018
Los Blancos had their worst home crowd since before the CR7 era, but got the result they wanted on the pitch with Gareth Bale finding the net. The post-Cristiano Ronaldo era at Real Madrid began the way the pre-Cristiano Ronaldo era ended, with a half-full Santiago Bernabeu.
Goals from Dani Carvajal and Gareth Bale against Getafe got Julen Lopetegui's side off to the perfect start in the 2018-19 La Liga season, but the lack of home fans was as conspicious as the absence of their former talisman.
Just 48,466 people came through the turnstiles for the first home game of the season, which should have attracted both hardcore fans and football tourists to see some of the biggest names in world football.

The last time, Real played in front of such a paltry Santiago Bernabeu crowd was the final home game of the 2008-09 season, which came during a five-game losing streak that was started by the historic 6-2 Clasico defeat to Pep Guardiola's Barcelona, who had both Thierry Henry and Lionel Messi scoring braces.
After that loss, Los Blancos slumped to second place in the table and decided to take the risk of breaking the world transfer record to sign a certain Portuguese attacker from Manchester United. Ronaldo moved to Madrid in June 2009, spending the next nine seasons at the club where he won four Champions League titles but just two Ligas.

With Ronaldo now gone to Juventus, fans failed to turn up for Madrid's first game of the season, with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's shadow cast large over the empty seats in the stadium.
No replacement has been brought in to provide firepower in attack. Nobody can replace Ronaldo's record of 450 goals in 438 games for Real Madrid, but new head coach Lopetegui had to rely upon the familiar faces of Marco Asensio, Karim Benzema and Bale to lead the line up front.

Real Madrid may have not gotten the attendance they wanted for the opening game, but they got the three points needed to ensure they compete for the title again. The fans have not yet forgotten Ronaldo, but more victories can help the transition and get the crowds back to Santiago Bernabeu.

Outrage as Buhari’s Ear Infection gulps Nigeria’s £50 million

Buhari is aged and can not return power to the North – Arewa Youth Integrity Forum 0 22.Dec
Tompolo Finally Surrender, as Niger Delta Avengers Release Deadly Threat Message 1 07.Jun
Senate Principal Officers: Much ado about nothing 0 02.May
A top source at the Presidency, has claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari’s foreign medical trip to London has already gulped more than 20 million British pounds.

The total cost of the trip, which includes, aviation fuel, accommodation cost, allowances for aides and medical treatment, amounts to about 50 Million pounds, the source confirmed. ‎

In what many described as reckless expenditure, this is coming at a time when the presidency has earmarked billions of naira for the State House Clinic, in the 2016 budget.

Reacting, a political scientist criticised Buhari, for embarking on a medical trip to the United Kingdom, UK.

He said, that such money that was used for Buhari’s foreign medical trip, could have been used to developed the Nation’s health infrastructures.

Recall, that the trip came against current economic woes, and revenue short falls, which have made it difficult for many State Governors to pay salaries of civil servants.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, had earlier announced that Buhari would be travelling to the United Kingdom for vacation and medical treatment, due to an Ear Infection.

Adesina, said that the trip would take 10 days, and that the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, would be acting as President.

Speaking on the state of the nation, a political commentator from the University of Jos, Lukeman Saka, said, “this is the government that had been canvassing for the blockage of wastage in the act of governance, now using public funds to fund a foreign medical trip”.

He added, that such development has exposed the ineptitude of the Nation’s leadership towards the growth of health facilities in the country.

Saka added that,”if the Nation’s health facilities have been developed, I don’t think there would be need for President Buhari to abandon all health institutions in the country and therefore travel to the UK, to seek medical attention”.

Saka, further pointed out, “I want to say that, there are many federal medical centers here in Nigeria, and even the one built by the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio. It is a specialist hospital, President Buhari should have used this local hospital, instead of travelling abroad for medical attention.”

“This shows that, our leaders are not ready to patronise our own hospitals. This is uncalled for, this is a serious problem, and this will not improve health care delivery in Nigeria.

“It is high time we learn to encourage ourselves to use our own health facilities, instead of travelling overseas, because the money that would be used for foreign medical trips, could have been used here to move our health institutions forward”.

Saka, therefore advised President Buhari to shun all acts capable of affecting the health development in the country, in the habit of seeking foreign medical trips, moreso, that Nigeria is blessed with well experienced medical personnel that could attend to his ear problem here.
