Naira redesign policy was a disaster that Buhari superintended over as a military dictator. Even though he saw the brutal outcomes of the policy, he still repeated it 40 years later. As it turns out, there was no larger vision for either our elections or democratic processes that drove the agenda. There was no gain for democratic institutions to which they were committed, it was just another one of the sadistic ideas that Buhari cranks out of his sociopathic mind each time he feels that Nigerians have not suffered enough. If there was no profound objective to be derived from the whole redesign policy, and he himself could advocate people taking money from their corrupt politicians, why did he not just leave people to collect their N5000? Why break things in the guise of trying to fix them? That was the sort of ineptitude that defined Buhari’s regime. Several policies unleashed severe suffering but were hardly followed by any bigger plan to make the outcome meaningful. They banned food importation to stimulate local agriculture, but all we have to show for the economic ingenuity is the soaring costs of food prices. He closed the borders for almost two years to galvanise local manufacturing, making life even more unaffordable. After accumulating losses and hardship, they re-opened them. They could not point out anything remarkable they achieved through it. They said those ideas were why countries like China flourished, but ended up proving that half education is bad especially when running a country. In not wanting to deal with either the complexities of planning or the messiness of human behaviour, Buhari’s regime treated social engineering as a process that could be automated. For instance, to make Nigeria a cashless economy, his administration restored far less cash into circulation than they took out in the form of the old notes. They imagined they could force people to use electronic means without first ensuring that the infrastructure to support such a massive scale of transaction was in place. That is his standard approach to governance: throw people into a desert and expect them to either stimulate their creative impulses and invent food, or eat sand and die. Even his anti-corruption agenda was half-hearted. With too many Faustian bargains he had made to get to power, the best anti-corruption agencies achieved under him was to pursue the small fry while the real thieves of the Nigerian patrimony sashayed freely. Last Friday, while giving his farewell message at the final Sallah homage at the Presidential Villa in the FCT, he reportedly said, “Having been a governor, minister, and the president twice, I think God has given us an incredible opportunity to serve as your president. And I thank God for that. So, please whoever feels I have done wrong to, we are all humans. There is no doubt I hurt some people and I wish you will pardon me. And those that think that I have hurt them so much, please pardon me.” Here are two things he should note: First, we do not think or feel we have been hurt by his leadership, no. Those words suggest that the visceral impacts of his punitive leadership are simply a matter of individual perspective rather than objective reality. We have receipts that substantially demonstrate that he stole eight years from us. From rising and multidimensional poverty to out-of-school children rates, insecurity, corruption, and overall diminished quality of life, Buhari’s failure is not a matter of mere opinion or emotions. We live the insalubrious effects. Second, saying we are all humans is fallacious. Who would look at the past eight years of his inhumane administration and not wonder if Buhari has a drop of humanity in him? When you look at Buhari, when you study his characteristic nonchalance to the high hopes and aspirations of Nigerians that his administration serially frustrated through their ineptitude, you cannot but understand why humans invented the concept of Satan. Some people’s wickedness is so unique that you need idioms of the supernatural to explain that degree of malevolence. Under Buhari’s watch, people were routinely kidnapped, and there was at least an instance where a community had to organise a fundraising to get money to retrieve their children abducted from school; entire communities were imperiled by rampaging herdsmen; prisons were serially attacked; terrorists and bandits killed poorly-armed security personnel in such high numbers that their bosses allegedly resorted to burying them secretly in order to hide the casualty rates; even the Nigerian Defence Academy was breached, and an Airforce Fighter jet shot down. Despite all the restlessness that defined his tenure, the man gaslit Nigerians by insisting we were doing better than ever before. How does that lack of fellow feeling qualify him to be categorised as “human”? Buhari admitted he got all he wanted by becoming the president, but what of Nigerians? What did they get in return? Now he says he will no longer be burdened by the country’s issues. If over-solicited after May 29, he promised to relocate to Niger republic across the border. He might have said that as a joke, but that is in fact quintessential Buhari. He has a pattern of expecting others to do things he ought to do because he is lazy and inept. He is never responsible for anything. He got into power by pretending to be poor because he was incorruptible even though his election was sponsored by people whose hands were soiled by public corruption. He achieved little, and now expects Nigerians to clean up his failures. For him to ascribe his failures to the fallibility of humanity when he barely even tried is another failure in itself. As someone who has had the privilege of living off Nigeria’s resources his entire adult life, Buhari failed spectacularly because he took and took and took but never gave back. He has not only failed as a leader, but also as a human being. He does not deserve forgiveness from even an all-merciful God. 15 Likes |

It's a condition called Foreign Accent Syndrome. Foreign accent syndrome (FAS) is a rare motor speech disorder that causes you to suddenly develop a new accent. It’s most common after a head injury, stroke, or some other type of damage to the brain. The condition might occur due to lesions (when skin or membrane begins peeling off) in the speech production network of the brain, or may also be considered a neuropsychiatric condition. Some factors that might cause foreign accent syndrome include: a blow to the head or face, surgery to the face or brain, MS, brain tumors, migraine. If he suddenly woke up speaking with a foreign accent, he should seek medical attention immediately because it may be a sign that something has gone wrong with his brain. 1 Like |

Japan is a culturally homogenous country where 97% of the population belong to the same ethnic group, so the issues of mutual distrust and suspicion which exists in Nigeria are non existent in Japan. They also have their own religious and spiritual ethics and values. Shintoism and Buddhism are still widely practiced as religions in the country. Skyview01: 5 Likes 3 Shares |

Your problem is that you are disease and yet you have somehow stupidly come to the conclusion that you are the cure. All I asked you was what was the origin of your moral standards? Are your moral standards objective or are they subjective? That's a very simple question which should require a very simple answer, but your single digit, pebble sized brain began to short circuit and malfunction. I NEVER asked you to believe the Bible because believe it or not, some people are actually cursed and the Bible will never add any value to their lives. You might actually be one of these people. I can't say you are because I'm not God and I don't call the shots on who goes to heaven and who goes to hell. The whole substance and theme of my line of questioning is based entirely on ethics and morality, not religion. So I'll repeat my question one more time: Are your moral standards objective or subjective? oldienavie: 3 Likes |

If you're an atheist, then there's nothing wrong with being an armed robber. But I'm not an atheist because I have an objective moral standard which is God. By objective I mean a standard of morality that exists independently and outside of my influence. I don't get to determine what is right or wrong, only God can do that. atheistandproud: 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Yes, but where does your moral code come from? A lot of what you call a broken family system is as a result of personal choices made on an individual basis. So a woman who chooses to have children, but who doesn't want to get married has made a moral choice to do so. Also, a father who packs up one day and abandons the mother of his children because he no longer wants the moral obligation of providing for them, has also made a personal choice to do so. From your perspective as an atheist, is there anything wrong with these choices? atheistandproud: 2 Likes |

In October 2016, the Nigerian government inaugurated the first of its proposed 37 mega solar power projects in the country at the University of Ibadan. This project which was initiated in partnership with the German Government through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) was aimed at getting the university off the national grid. The University of Ibadan’s solar power plant once operational, would generate 10 megawatts of renewable electricity for the institution. The power plants were expected to generate enough electricity for universities to enjoy 24 hours uninterrupted power supply through clean and renewable energy, and the University of Ibadan Solar Power project was billed to be the pilot for the first phase of the project. If it had been executed, the project would have saved Nigeria’s premier University, an annual expenditure of over N100 million in electricity bills and contributed largely to the fight against climate change. The project would also have served as a good opportunity for practical learning and research for students of various departments of the university’s faculties of technology and agriculture. The former vice-chancellor of the University had in a 2016 interview said that the project completion time was estimated at six months. Development News Nigeria Investigation however reveals that six years after the launch, the project remains non-existent. The move to power Nigeria’s tertiary institutions with solar power is a project of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) under it ‘Energizing Education Programme’, EEP. EEP is now in its second phase and according to details on the Rural Electrification Agency’s website, phase one of the project was expected to deliver 28.5 megawatts to nine federal universities and a teaching hospital. On the current status of EEP Phase 1, the REA also noted that all project sites have received complete “mobilisation payment” and” full second payment” from the sovereign green bond fund and the federal government. Interestingly, the agency’s website did not list University of Ibadan as one of the project sites for Phase 1. This is despite media coverage of the groundbreaking ceremony held in 2016. Universities listed for phase one are; Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi state; Bayero University, Kano state (BUK), Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Delta state; Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife; University of Lagos (UNILAG); Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Anambra state; Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS); Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Gubi Campus, Bauchi. There is also no mention of University of Ibadan for Phase two of the project. Project Site Overtaken by Weeds During a visit to the site of the project where the groundbreaking ceremony was held in October 2016, DNNigeria observed that the place has been taken over by weeds. All the solar panels used during the inauguration were no longer there. The only indication that such a ceremony was held and that it was the project site is the plaque. DNNigeria observed that a portion of the project site has become a dump site. Procurement Violation DNNigeria investigation also revealed that the project which was estimated at N5.4 billion was awarded in violation of the Public Procurement Act of 2007. There was no budgetary provision for the contract and that violates section 16 (1b) of the procurement law. It states that “Subject to any exemption allowed by this Act, all public procurement shall be conducted based only on procurement plans supported by prior budgetary appropriations …” Also, the company, Dantata Solar Limited was incorporated in 2016, the same year that the contract was awarded, contrary to a minimum of three years of operation with tax clearance that is required of any company for such contract. Silence from Stakeholders When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the University of Ibadan, Adejoke Akinpelu bluntly refused to speak on the project. Akinpelu later directed the reporter to the university’s Electrical Engineer Faloseyi Segun who declined to comment on the project. The contractor Dantata Solar Limited, Rural Electrification Agency and Federal Ministry of Education did not respond to requests for comment. You didn't provide an answer, so I'll keep asking it. Your entire position is that when it comes to the salvation offered by Christ, there is a distinction between Gentiles and Jews. So what does this Scripture mean? Colossians 3.11 As a result, there is no longer any distinction between Gentiles and Jews, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarians, savages, slaves, and free, but Christ is all, Christ is in all. Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has expressed readiness to supply minimum of 20 hours of uninterrupted electricity within its network areas in 2023. The Managing Director, Dr Tinuade Sanda, who made this known to newsmen on Thursday in Lagos, said this is non-negotiable as the power grid keeps doing the needful. Sanda added that efforts are ongoing towards the completion of the installation of transformers within the communities. This was just as she hinted on improved metering for the consumers, assuring continued fixing of tripping feeders. While touching on energy theft, The MD assured that the completion of the metering will foster energy audit that would consequently provide a lasting solution to the theft issue. She noted that outsourced companies had been engaged to drive down the losses in those areas. “We want to work towards ensuring minimum 20 hours electricity supply as we continue to get electricity from the power grid. “Installation is still ongoing and we have done 80 out of 150. We are moving closer and closer to our consumers. We tend to decentralize more so that our consumers can reach us. “We will continue to address our frequent tripping feeders. “We want to complete all our DT metering. If we complete that, it will help us do our energy audit and the theft will be resolved. “One of the Initiatives is to put stickers in such areas. In the process, we found places were there were theft. We also engaged with outsourced companies to help drive down losses in those areas. Meanwhile, Tinuade stated that the Federal Government invested heavily in Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to address the grid system; hence, it is different from Nigerians experienced. https://tribuneonlineng.com/ekedc-projects-minimum-of-20hrs-supply-within-network-areas-in-2023/ Mynd44 Lalasticlala |

Now your'e just clutching at straws because when He says all the rest of the human race, it simply means all those who did not have a covenant with Yaweh under the Old Testament which existed between Yaweh and the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The fact is that under the New Testament, there is no longer any distinction based on ancestry. Colossians 3.11 As a result, there is no longer any distinction between Gentiles and Jews, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarians, savages, slaves, and free, but Christ is all, Christ is in all. In Wednesday, a Kaduna magistrates’ court ordered that a 23-year-old bricklayer, Abubakar Badamasi, accused of sodomising a minor, be remanded in prison custody. Mr Badamasi was charged with an unnatural offence. Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel, who did not take the plea of Mr Badamasi for lack of jurisdiction, ordered that he be remanded in prison custody, pending legal advice. Mr Emmanuel, who adjourned the case until February 6, ordered that the case file be returned to the director of public prosecution. The prosecutor, Chidi Leo, told the court that the matter was initially reported to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kabala Doki, on December 22. According to him, Mr Badamasi lured the six-year-old into an uncompleted building in the area and sodomised him. The prosecutor added that Mr Badamasi gave the victim biscuits, N100 and instructed him not to tell anyone about what had transpired. Mr Leo further said Mr Badamasi was arrested after the six-year-old told his mother what happened. (NAN) https://gazettengr.com/bricklayer-sodomises-six-year-old-boy/ Mynd44 Lalasticlala |
