Myself and my 14 yrs daughter got our B1/B2 visas this morning, The VO’s were calm and patient, there are refusals though, from my view most people that were refused were first timers and those who doesn’t have strong ties here. Some weren’t listening well to VO’s questions and some too nervous to say what they didn’t ask them.
My details;
VO: Can l have your passport!
Me: Yes pls, l handed it over

Me: 2 times, this is my third application

VO; started typing on his computer for about three minutes, the next , he pushed my passport into his drawer and brought out a white paper. Your visa is approved! You shd pick up your passport..,,..,

Get an affidavit for name change, which must have legal documents backing the affidavit. Divorce certificate.
In the application, there is a place for any previous names, she should fill it truthfully.
Since she listed him as spouse previously, she has to get a divorce certificate. The US will want to know what happened to that legal union as (mis)represented previously to them.

Pls help my sister with your advice, she has been to the US on two occasions on two different US visas, she wants to renew again. The issue is that, on the two previous visas, she used her boyfriend’s name as spouse, she claimed married but never presented any marriage certificate, she also did not bears her boyfriend’s surname, unfortunately the relationship ended two years ago, now she’s married and she’s afraid to change the old spouse name on her form to her present husband’s name due to fear of denial.

I picked my two years visits visa, six months for my 21 years old undergraduate daughter and thirteen years old sec school daughter six months visa today.

It takes 12 days to process. We submitted and did biometrics on the 14th October.

Apologies for delayed response. Everybody has been quite bizi I guess. This is the end of the year and so, deliveries tied to a deadline need to be concluded before year-end hence, the delay in people's response to your case. Now, concerning your ties in canada...did you submit any invite and what's the status of the person inviting you...does he/she have enough funds to host you and did you submit proofs alongside your application? If your intended travel was on tourism, you don't need any invite but you must state clearly in your itinerary, places and events of interest you wanted to attend. Hope you did all these. If you've not exceeded your stay while in the UK and US and you've got a good job, you might just have to relax, for now and reapply a few months later because the current economic situation of our country isn't funny at all. Applicants, who have not abused visa privileges in their entire lives and haven't been refused visas in the past just like you, were refused Canada visa in recent times. I remember that banker with his family who submitted quite impressive documents alongside their applications with valid US visa on their passports. They were still refused eventually. In the past, case-specific applications wouldn't have issues. Even if the event an applicant was going to attend had passed, he/she would still get a Canada visa, if the VO is satisfied with the visa application but in recent times, a case-specific application was refused. It's not funny. I read it here that the reason for refusal was that, the event he was going for, had passed. I had applied to attend a training in the past and a decision was made a few days after the end of the training. I still got my visa and the training was rescheduled by our manufacturer due to this... I got 4 years multiple. A lot of applicants here who wanted to go for tourism, conferences and annual leave were issued visas after their intended missions had passed. All these happened this year. If you earn 2m monthly, as a family person, it's just 3,225USD and might not be considered to be enough for a family visa application because you're expected to have responsibilities and bills to settle out of the salary, on a monthly basis. Try and work on your finances and leave enough balances in your account before you reapply. While the US VO might consider your travel history in approving your visa application without dwelling much on your asset and finances in most cases, Canada will go beyond that. Your ties, personal assets and finance and travel history are considered as key factors by CIC in the course of their decisions in most cases . In my opinion, don't sound desperate by reapplying immediately. Try and give them some time. I've not tried applying for canada visa from USA but some said it had worked for them. You and spouse may reapply here in Nigeria since you work here. It's nothing to worry about. That you were refused now doesn't mean you won't be granted a visa when next you reapply. Just be honest with your documents, work on some weak areas and leave the rest in the hands of God. Cheers.

sometimes consulars need stubborn applicant...i wld av prefer you hold on to the appeal ...if its taking too much time, all u av to do is to send them a comprehensive emotional letter.....cos the visiting visa applicatn might seems to them like you want to get in at all cost...let me share my case with u, i apply online to visit my wife and daughter and dey refuse me, i was mad cos reason was travel hist and econmy ties of which av bn all over d world except canada,china & australia..i reapply via paper apps with letter indirectly asking dem to aplgz to me as i was refused wrongly....my visa was issued in 3wks...they knw dat if you are in you av means of gettn a permit....hwever i wish you postv respons on ur apps ..

I was refused unjustly and lm really bittered about it. l applied to visit and check my son in school, hes been there for three years without seeing any of his family member, lm fully responsible for his studies, l am a single mom and stated it that l not go by my maiden name since lm single. I don't have to lie about that. l got a written letter signed by his dad giving consent to the trip with his younger sister. lm fully employed by Fed. Govt with a good salary, l have travelled to US and Uk and still have a valid US visa, l have Assets and also my statement as at the period of application was 2.8m with other cooperative letters, bank, and pensions statement. they refused based on family ties in Canada and home country, and personal assets and financial status ( I have other two girls here in Nigeria, l applied with one of them whos presently a 300L student, she had letter of introduction from her school and l provided her password on her school' site for their perusal). I submitted my employment letter, 4 promotion letters, pay slips, leave letter from my org, properties documents with my street naming approval, poultry business details as per time, letter of invitation from my son, his sch ID, Study permit approval, His Data page, Visas. I have different name with my son which has been there since l applied for his study visa. I don't know what exactly is the problem and how l can go about it.

Hi borvick, I believe the thought of renewing your passport is a good one. firstly, the canadians will not issue a visa exceeding your passport validity so you may see yourself going to manor house again sooner than later for a renewal.
secondly, you mentioned you want to apply in August, what if by the time they approve and request for your passport, you dont have up to six months on it? i dont see why you cant renew and apply at the earliest possible time and i think you should apply online so invase it doesnt come out on time, it doesnt ruin your US trip.
thirdly, which i think is worthy to note, you plan to travel to the US in November while your passport expires April which brings it within the six months mark depending on dates, have you checked with CBP and your Airline to make sure this will not be an issue as a lot of carriers will refuse to airlift you if you fall short of 6months or more validity on your passport?

then on your application, i honestly believe that, if you are compact and intellectual with it, it may come out well. the most important thing to note here is that your son has a profile and you must have been listed there so lying about anything will certainly ruin your application. these VOs compare stories and documentation a lot. the docs i believe you need;
your sons admission letter
your sons birth certificate showing your name clearly
your sons study permit/ student visa
any evidence of payment of his school fees
evidence of your source of income and tax clearance
accommodation plan clearly showing duration of visit
flight reservation showing destination(which should be your son's city of residence), arrival and departure dates but do not pay a dime
an invitation letter from him if he is an adult but dont fret over this. any other relevant docs

if i was making this application, i will make sure not to mumble documentation because it is easier and faster for a VO to refuse an application than to request for addition clarification/documentation. write a well detailed letter of explanation(but not more than 2 pages) introducing yourself and relationship with your son, use separate paragraphs to address each category of your travel ;introduction and relationship, income, accomodation, transportation, ties to home country, visa refusals to other countries and why you feel they may have refused you unjustly because they will find out anyway. dont ever listen to people that tell you have excess documents so far the documents are meaningful. attach the first 4 documents i listed to your explanation letter as one upload and make sure to upload all documents in the right places and note that you may have to upload some documents in more than one place. best of luck with your application and I hope you see your son soon.

Quick Note: you did not mention if you are a single mum or anything about family so put that into consideration. the VO may also wonder why your son wouldnt get a visa and meet you in the US instead so make sure to have an explanation to that.

On the surface, your chances may be high even though we're not visa officers. Go about renewing your passport now, let them know you have trips to make by the time your current passport is left with less than 6 months validity, they understand. If possible too and you are sure of the US trip, purchase your US return ticket now and add it to your application by the time you are applying. Let your flight reservation reflect US-Canada return to show you will be flying in from the US. All other documents pertaining your proposed accommodation, job, finances, assets, your son's proof of academics and relationship to you, payments and all, etc....

I applied for study permit for him UG in St Marys University Halifax. Having been denied five times. US visa with schorlahip. I want to thank God today that his application was approved to study in Canada though without scholarship.

I pray that as many who still trust in Him will never be put to shame.
