Health / Avoid Losing Weight In Ramadan by bosco4all: 5:54pm On Jul 28, 2013
While some people gain weight during the holy month of Ramadan, others struggle to keep their weight from falling off the normal range. In fact, fasting could be quite a challenge for maintaining a healthy body weight. Especially, if your food intake is not enough to meet the minimum caloric requirements for the basic needs of the body.

Should you worry about weight loss during fasting?

You need not worry, unless your weight is at the borderline of the normal range or lower than the normal value. You can find out if you are underweight by calculating your BMI. To do this, divide your weight by the square of your height; if you get a number of 18.5 or less then you your weight is below normal and you should prevent any further weight loss.

Quite simply, if your height was 1.64m, the square of that would be 1.64x1.64, which is 2.69. Now divide your weight, 50kg for example by 2.6 and you get 18.5. This is your BMI. And going below that is not recommended.

Why do some people lose weight during Ramadan?

Sometimes fasting could last up to 13 hours or more. During this time the body needs glucose which serves as its energy source and is necessary for its proper functioning. Glucose from food could last up to a maximum of 5 hours, after that the body tends to use its fat stores in order to provide the necessary energy. And not restoring these reserves after fasting would result in weight loss

Ways to avoid losing weight:

Have your Iftar in two stages: Some people can get full just by eating salad and soup, resulting in them having just a little bit of the main dish. This usually ends up with inadequate caloric intake and might lead to weight loss. You should instead try to have your Iftar meal in two sessions. First have dates, soup and salad. Then go for Maghreb Prayer and come back to have your main dish. In this way you would have given your stomach enough time to prepare for the main dish.

Good to Remember: If you feel full quickly during Ramadan, then make sure you drink water between your meals and not with them. Have 1 glass at the beginning of Iftar, wait a couple of minutes then enjoy your meal. The rest (6-7 glasses of water or fluids) can be divided within your non-fasting hours but only 2 hours after food.

Enrich your dishes with healthy calories: Sprinkle a generous amount of olive oil to your salad, or slice some olives on your baked, low fat cheese sambosa. You can also add some nuts over your salads and Ramadan desserts.
Have an extra nutritious snack between your Iftar and Suhour: When you are out for the evening, have mankoushe with a glass of laban, a bowl of hummus (balila) with a glass of fruit cocktail juice or simply a cheese sandwich and a glass of milk. Remember to take your sweets after this snack so you fill up on nutritious foods first.

Make sure to have your Suhour: It will be very difficult to meet your nutritional requirements with just one meal. This is why it is absolutely essential to have a proper Suhour to provide your body with the additional calories vital for your wellbeing, and to prevent any undesirable weight loss. For example, you can have a bowl of foul mudammas sprinkled with a generous quantity of olive oil, a small loaf of brown Arabic bread, some olives, a glass of milk and a bowl of fruit salad in fruit syrup.

In conclusion, there are many ways to boost your calories and avoid losing weight during this month. You can do that by adding healthy nutrient- and calorie-dense ingredients to the foods you are eating. These include healthy oils, nuts, avocados and olives. Also remember to remain physically active during this month since this will help stimulate your appetite.

Banana is a food that is low in calories, in fat, high in fiber and vitamins and this makes it a good source of food for losing some weight. This nutritious food can be eaten as breakfast or as a snack, and it can also be complemented with a nice dessert.

Calories
Banana contains large mount of magnesium, vitaminB6, potassium and it is low in calories. An average ripe banana which ranges from 7 to 8 inches long contains 105 calories. This was a study published by the Discovery Health website and the U.S. Department of agriculture national nutrient database.
So, base on a 2000 calories per day diet, eating several bananas can provide numerous nutrients which account for a fraction of the daily caloric intake.

Fat
Banana contains low fat and do not have much protein. The USDA database reports that a large ripe banana has less than half a gram of fat. If for instance there are 9 calories per gram of fat, you can eat many bananas a day and it won't lead to any bad fat that can lead to weight gain.

Glycemic Index
Apart from its nutrients, bananas also have a low glycemic index which help with weight loss. Glycemic index is the ranking of how quickly carbohydrates from food are released into the body. Foods that have low glycemic index scores release carbs slowly into the body. This prevents drops and spikes in your blood sugar levels as fluctuations signal your body to eat more than you should. The
Glycemic Index Foundation’s website lists ripe yellow bananas with a glycemic index of 51-----which is a low value on a scale where anything above 70 is considered high and anything under 55 is low.

Fiber
Bananas are rich in dietary fiber which makes you feel fuller longer enough so that you won't overeat at your next meal or makes you go for an unhealthy snack. A large banana contains about 4 grams of dietary fiber per servings which can makeup for the daily recommended of at least 25 grams.

With these benefits, ensure you don't miss banana as part of your healthy food which is very good source for those who desire to lose some weight.

The attitude of all the people have changed over the last 3 or 4 decades. Everyone needs fast solution. This not the case with some subjects. Everyone has this way of thinking in every aspect of their lives.

Whether it’s moneymaking, or to get a promotion or to find a solution for a particular problem, all needs fast and easy ways. No one is ready to work hard to achieve the aim in a healthy and proper way. This attitude can be seen in most of the ladies when comes to fitness.

Every woman is conscious about their belly fat. They consider that part as the most problematic area. Therefore, every woman wants a fast solution to this problem. They all need easy ways and they want to get it within a short span of time.

Now I have a question, how many days did you take to deposit this much of fats in your body? We all know it took several months sometimes years. Then how can you burn those fats within a week or a few days.

It’s a big blunder and false promises that most of the fitness centers and medical advertisements offer for ladies. They will just steal your money and your body will remain the same as before. You must understand the fact that it is not at all possible to lose that belly fat or any fats from your body within a few days.

There are so many factors depends on it. But I won’t say it is impossible. But you will not get within a week or a few days. You have to do many intense exercises followed by a clean and healthy diet.

You must realize that it’s not possible to get a flat belly overnight. Getting a flat belly is not a miracle, it’s a reality and you just have to work for it! Follow right workout routine and dieting plan, keep going till you start to get a result, and belive me – you would not stop it after that.

There is nothing more motivated, than a satisfied result. Yes, hard work and dedication are the keys to a flat belly. There are no other easy ways.

Arm fat is a very general issue, especially for some women after childbirth or after losing some amount of weight. Arm fat is difficult to lose, and dieting alone would not combat arm fat. I have seen several people who lost weight but still had a lot of arm fat. Here are some tips on losing arm fat:
1-Drink lots of water: Water keeps your skin hydrated, keeps you hydrated and increases your metabolism by flushing out toxins from the body. Remember if you exercise then you would definitely need more water for weight loss. Research done found that drinking at least 2 litres of water every day is needed to flush out toxins from the body.
2-Push-ups: Push ups are very great exercises that help you burn your arm fat. They are extremely good for arm fat burning. Alternatively, using your 5 kg dumbbells for the biceps and triceps would also be really helpful.
3-Also your diet needs to be in check. You need a calorie deficit to also help your body burn fat from its fat stores. Your arm fat is also one of the stores.
4-Regular cardio exercise every day for at least 30 minutes per day.
