Every year, millions of students sit for the Joint Admission Matriculation Board, examination, but only a few students are privilege to gain admission into the University.

After many trials some give up on the course they want to study or even on school; imagine someone who is passionate about Law, who wants to become a lawyer, later apply for a different course that is different from Law.

This have been the issued on ground for many years till when the Government intervene in the issue, with a program called Interim Joint Matriculation Board, known as IJMB to save the students.

So if you were not given admission, due to one reason or another, maybe you have tried Jamb examination over and over, or you have given up, I am here to tell you that, it is not the end of the world, there is still hope, and IJMB is the way.

WHAT IS IJMB

The Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) was established in 1976 by the Interim Common Services Agency of the old Northern Regional Government of Nigeria.

It is organized so as to create a means for students to gain admission in the University at any time of their life, as this result does not expire unlike jamb result, without the use of Jamb.

This program was organized due to the high rate of students who were not given admission into the University, due to low jamb score, or maybe have high score, but due to one reason or another, are not given. In order to curb this problem, the Government has to come up with this solution for the students.

This program is organized in various Universities in a period of 9 calendar months. After the completion of the program by the individual, the student who passes their examination excellently is awarded a certificate into two-hundred levels into their dream course of study in any university they choose.

The program started in Ahmadu Bello in Zaria. Today the IJMB body has set up different centre in many Universities, in order to make it accessible by many Nigerians.

Note: The program is not a course in the University, but a program organized in IJMB centre, and those who pass are given the privilege into university into the course they wanted, and have applied for in the course of the IJMB program.

REQUIREMENTS FOR IJMB
8 passports
Ordinary level result
Awaiting results is also accepted
It also requires your full time (This is because it is a full time program)
WAEC, NECO, GCE, and NABTEB (Any one you have gotten is also accepted, with a minimum of 5 credits)

Note: In most courses like medicine and surgery, most University will not accept two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, and NABTEB.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

The IJMB program is 9 months program.
Registration begins November and ends in April. After the registration ends, lectures take place, which is scheduled to begin between March and April and run through the whole year.

The examination begins from January or the first week of February the next year. The examination is conducted for a period of three weeks, after which results are released by the end of April.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR IJMB

The IJMB has made it so easy, that wherever you are you can register for this program, as the registration is an online process. You can also go their centres
To register for the IJMB program, you will have to go to IJMB registration portal.

HOW MUCH DOES THE IJMB PROGRAM COST

The IJMB program cost varies with the different study centres. The total fees due to different centres are N168, 000 and N258, 000.

The standard fee at Illorin centre is N168, 000 only.

The fees are for: school fees, hostel accommodation, textbooks and other materials.

The fees are can be paid in installment, so as to make it easy for everyone. Note that the fees are non refundable, so before you pay make sure you are ready for the program.

HOW TO USE THE RESULT TO GAIN ADMISSION INTO ANY UNIVERSITY

We know, we have various university in Nigeria; private or federal Universities.

The process you need to take to gain admission into any of the approved University includes:
1. Visit the nearest Jamb office to get the Direct Entry (DE) form. You can alternatively; you can visit the Jamb website, and click on the Direct Form link to go that page or portal.

2. Fill the hardcopy form you took from the office or the softcopy form on the website. The details you will fill on it, must tally with the details of your IJMB result.

3. In the form you have the option of choosing your preferred University. You have the option to choose six your choice University.

The fact, that you attended lectures wrote the exam, does not guarantees your desired course, so you need a early preparation with help of syllabus which is normally available after payment of acceptance fee payment, a good study centre and the grace of God for you, for you to make it.

1.Make a list.

Learn to to create a list of you plans for each day. Creating a to-do list of when and where of what you are going to do, is an important key towards management of your time.

This will help you to accomplish your plans for each day.

The to-do list should involve your sequence of your plans for each day.

This could be like for instance, between 8am to 10am I will be in class, between 10am to 12pm I will be in the library.

2.Start your day early

4.Avoid procrastination

Learn to avoid procrastination, as good as possible.

Nothing steals your hour than procrastination. If you must manage the hours of your day, learn to develop a sense of urgency.

Avoid the habit of I will do it later, I still have some weeks.
Most students fall prey to procrastination.

The time they would have use for studying, due to indiscipline, inability to control their day, postpone their study for any unnecessary thing that have occupied them.

This category of Students end up increasing their work load, and pages to study, which they may not be able to cover, resulting to their failure in their examination.

5.Focus on one thing at a time

Focus one task at a time. Do not use the time to study Mathematics, for Chemistry or for physics.
Please do not rush things, even if you feel you, you are able to study different books at the same time.

6.Take out time to rest

Take out time out your plans to sleep, eat and rest. In time management, taking out time to rest, can not be ruled out.
