Family / How To Deal With Failure by Buildingthelife(m): 3:40pm On Feb 21, 2015
Though failure is not our desire, but I must tell you that it is inescapable and must occur at one point in your life (feel free to quote me anywhere). Before I start with the basis, meditate on these quotes, as it would quicken and broaden your mind on failure.

“The ability to fail is our nature, the question is, do we fail and stop trying, or do we fail and try to bounce back”. The answer to these questions would determine if we conquer it, or it conquers us – Clinton Odumah

“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve. The fear of failure” – Paulo Coelho

“You make a decision that you are going to move on. It won’t happen automatically. You will have to stand up and say, “I don’t care how hard this is, I don’t care how disappointed I am, I’m not going to let this get the best of me. I’m moving on with my life”. – Joel Osteen

“When you fail, bounce back and try again, for with this, failure becomes a friend rather than a fear, the good thing is friends help”. – Clinton Odumah.

How do you feel after reading those quotes? I’m guessing charged up. Alright let’s proceed.

Failure is a spontaneous occurrence that has to be dealt with before it takes the wheel in our life. At some time in your life, you’re bound to fail (believe me), but it is up to you to learn from your mistakes (not complete)

Family / How To Eliminate Shyness And Develop Self- Confidence by Buildingthelife(m): 10:44pm On Feb 20, 2015
Take it from someone who was once drowned in the feeling of apprehension and awkwardness during social encounters, or better still one with a P.HD in diffidence (being shy), there is nothing that gives you an upper hand than boldness. Although shyness is in-born, with practice it can be eliminated. You probably feel like dissolving in class when asked a question (not because you don’t know the answer, but because you are not bold), or you feel like walking into the earth when you walk pass pretty ladies or handsome guys as the case may be, or even looking someone straight up and having a simple conversation seems to be like an exam set by Einstein, then the word “shy” defines you. Well, it doesn’t always have to be like this, if I could be self-confident, I don’t see anyone who can’t.

I remember vividly back in high school, if I were to take a walk down the students hall, my walking pattern would change to something hilarious, or when going up to make a speech, my whole body would vibrate continuously, courtesy of diffidence. Well, all that has changed now. If you are struggling to overcome this feeling of awkwardness, you are few minutes away from discovering how to eliminate it. Ensure that you read to the end.

Understand and accept the fact that you are shy: This is the first step to eliminating shyness. Understand that you are painfully shy, and make it clear to yourself that you are shy and accept the fact. The more you try to resist it, the more it prevails. I know for a fact that you cannot resist what is in-born; but you can nurture it and learn to manage it at first, and then follow the next steps outlined.

Track the scenarios when this feeling envelops you: It is important that you take note of the situations when you get this feeling. Find out what situations trigger it. Track the root. Do you feel shy around pretty ladies, or in class, or even among relatives and friends. Knowing the various occasions when you would shiver even when the sun is up, when your body would vibrate profusely as if you just ran a marathon, or when your posture would change as though you were in a beauty pageant. Knowing these triggers will make you aware and prepared of what is to come. During the time of preparations, you could practice what to say and the answers to give to every question asked. This way you learn control over diffidence a little.

Challenge your thoughts: About 70% of the reasons you are shy is because of the negative ideas we allow into our minds. If you think; ‘No, I can’t talk with that man, his not my class’, or ‘no I can’t be in a meeting, where I have to sit in front’, and although you know for sure that talking to that man, or being in that meeting would most likely be of help to you, you still abstain from it because of your thoughts. Challenge negative thoughts and rewire your brain to think positively, if you are to develop self-confidence.

Try to mix up with people: Of course, shy people are not the most social, so this stage is often difficult for some. Like back then, I would send a friend of mine to help get a certain persons’ contact that I would like to commune with. I would often say whatever I want over the internet or via the phone and act as if I never knew the person the next day. Well, quite expected, as I continued with the conversation online, it gradually turned into a relationship, and transferred to a face to face dialogue. So, find what method works for you and mix up with people. This would give your self-confidence a huge boost.

Watch television shows and read books: It is not a debate, shy people don’t know how to start a conversation, maybe a few, but they can barely keep the conversation going, now that’s where television shows and books come to play. Television shows would give you interesting topics you could invite to your conversation and make you look cool. This way, there doesn’t need to be that odd 5-10 seconds of silence during the conversation. Reading books is also another way you could integrate great ideas and keep your conversation flowing.

Dress smart: Like everyone knows, the way you dress, is the way you’ll be addressed, and the way you are addressed gives you that sense of boldness or low self esteem. Always try your best to look smart and you’d just be surprised how high you’d raise your shoulders without having to shake.

Practice standing tall: Just next to your dressing is your posture. We all know walking with your head bowed down to the ground depicts shyness. This is why this issue should be noted. Practice walking upright with your head held up high.. (not complete)

This issue has made many people lose diverse job opportunities. Many actions caused by nervousness or a sense of ‘know it all’ can make potential employers decline your application. The reason for failing job interviews does not depend only on your deficient qualification, your character and choice of words is another criterion to watch, if you are to scale through an interview. Most people put humour to their work, and forget that the tone in which they voice out words matters a lot. Well, are you tired of failing interviews? One of these outlined below has probably been your stumbling block, Seat back and read this article till the very last full stop, adjust with these points and see how your next interview takes a turn.

I’m Sorry, I’m Late: You are late to an interview? (*surprised)

I’m Nervous: This statement is not fancied by interviewers. No company wants a person who lacks self confidence. You may be nervous, it’s allowed, but don’t show that you are, and most importantly never voice it out. If you can’t hide your nervousness, I advice you practice in that department before going for an interview. In the organization I used to work, I’ve seen people shiver, shake and mutter during interviews, trust me they never get to see that office again. Treat this issue.

Please When Would This Interview Be Over? : Never give the impression of being in a hurry, you would just be simply saying to the interviewer that you have another job, and need a job with extra value. No employer accepts this. I had once been interviewed in a computer café, and at the same time trying to beat time to another organization to submit my credentials, guess what? I got neither of the jobs. In short, never put a tight schedule around your interview hours.

I and My Former Boss Didn’t Get Along Well: The kind of questions that would be thrown at you and the kind of answers you give could throw you out the door in no time. Moreover, the interviewer would think you are a pain in the butt to work it.
When Are My Days Off? : If you start to make a list of this type of questions and throw it at the interviewers, you won’t even make it to the stage of submitting your passports and filling the employment, talk less about having your free time. It sends a wrong message across to the interviewer (he/she would think of you as the lazy type). Your focus should rather be to outline the measures you would take to improve the company’s productivity, even if it means working overtime. That’s what your employers expect.

I Left My Ex-company because I was poorly paid: Although this I a good reason to leave a company or organization, this issue should not be explained to the interviewer.

How Much Is My Salary: You are definitely going to get paid for your work, bringing up this issue early, sends a red signal to the interviewer. I advice you wait for this issue to be brought up by the interviewers.

I Don’t Have Much Experience: If you say this, you would be admitting that you are not worth the job. Be confident in yourself, the job you intend to have is going to be an experience, ain’t it?

I Really Need This Job: Do not send a sense of desperation to the interviewers. You should rather make them feel that the job really needs you, for what you are worth, you should get the job.

F-words: I strongly advice that you keep your lingual strictly on PG.

I Got Fired From My Ex-job: A person who says this at a job interview could as well kiss his dreams of working there goodbye. No company wants someone who was fired from a previous job.

SECRETS: HOW TO BE YOUNG AND WEALTHY

First of all, before going on, I have to change this philosophy that says money is the root of all evil. The love of money is the root of evil and not money itself.

Now that being said, I’ll conclude, “the root of all happiness is money” (well, believe it or not). It is of no doubt that money is of great importance in everyone’s life. But, the problem is how to get the cash flow pumping. Now, let me tell you this without an atom of doubt, Money is easy to get, and the economy of a particular country isn’t a criterion for you being cash deficit. In African countries mostly, the ratio of the poor to the rich is way off the balance, as many people are comfortably drowning in the pool of poverty, one thing most Africans fail to realize is that wealth is not to be achieved by the matured ones, the educated ones or those in the government only, for heaven’s sake wealth is looking for who is ready to tap into it. And talking about achievements, a young millionaire is definitely one to mention. I am going to be sharing with you my friend, some ideas and secrets that if you apply them, your bank account is going to have a huge boost. If you are just going to read this and not going to put it to practice, I think it’s better you leave this article. (I’m sure you won’t, because you need to be classy). Now, let’s kick it.

THE MINDSET:millionaire-mindset This is the first and most important criteria, as it is impossible to become wealthy without thinking like one. Its usually referred to as “The Millionaire Mindset”. Research has showed us that if everybody in a country is given an equal sum of money, the rich would get richer and the poor, poorer. Now, why is this so? This reason is very simple, while the rich would invest the sum of money, so he/she could acquire more wealth, the poor with a minute mentality would just consider his/her immediate needs, and treat them without considering what tomorrow holds. Now, you see the mindset here don’t you?

The way you see life and the way you see yourself is what determines what you get out of life. It is of great necessity that you think big always. At the age of thirteen, I was able to draft out the purpose and objectives for my life, I had these animated videos with the words “I must get rich, poverty is not an option” on every page. At that age, there was little I could do about it, but take my studies seriously, as I grew older, so did my thoughts, I was able to build up knowledge and worked in line with my aim, and trust me, I am getting the harvest. So, get out from the poverty mindset and develop that millionaire mindset.

THE WILL POWER:will power Now, it is also important that you know this, “no self-made millionaire got rich overnight”. Getting rich is not a quick scheme; it takes zeal and continuous effort. Think of it as a trip, and during this trip, you are likely to stumble upon rocks, if you fall, get up and continue. This is what willpower denotes. If you fall and decide to get up and go back to where you started, you are definitely a broken record. I’ll be using Donald Trump (an American business mogul

11 Businesses You Can Start With Little Or No Money
by Clinton Odumah

This is a popular sought topic on search engines; this is because starting a business with little capital is what most people dream of. Starting and running a business is not just about the profit, it also greatly depends on the technical skills, industry expertise and of course your vision and willpower to succeed. So, I came up with the list outlined below on different businesses you may want to start up now, with concrete insight on how to run them.

Clothes Sales: With a wide range of new fashion designs emanating from the fashion industry, this business has grown a lot. There are thus, several options to tap into this market. You first and foremost determine the type of clothes to sell, and the name of your brand, then you a get a shop in an open environment, whereby the shop advertises itself. The next step is to find business brokers and promote your business both online and offline.
Cell phone Accessories Retail: Yes! With the cell phone market growing immensely, GSM accessories are thus in high demand all over the world. It is perfect for people looking for low startup capital businesses, as you need not necessarily be a shop owner before this business can be setup. With a capital as low as N20,000 you can get your first stock.

Photography: I know what you are thinking, but before you skip this, think about your financial need. This a very high income earning job you need to start with little capital. During high school graduations, college matriculations or convocations, weddings or birthdays, you would be glad you read this article. If you don’t know how to handle a camera, you can get a tutor or better still hire someone who is familiar with it. All you need is a camera, the film, the printing machine and you are ready to go.
Driving: Hold on my friend, before you crucify me, I am not suggesting you become a taxi driver, you have your self esteem to protect. Now see reasons with me, you may have a car, that you use to cruise around the town, that does nothing but make you spend for fuel and engine repairs, why don’t you make it produce money rather than milk you of the little cents you have. You probably live in a street where your neighbours have children that go to school, why don’t you volunteer to drop them off for extra cash? Or go to a supermarket, a small company like a bakery and offer to be their delivery man.

Now here is another brilliant idea, start a driving school. Teach other people the skill you got.

Tutoring: Being a tutor is very honourable, you got the knowledge about certain subjects; pass down that knowledge to people for a token. Take home lessons with adults and children, and get yourself from the no-money zone.

Barbing Saloon: You don’t necessarily need to have barbing skills to own a hair salon; you could always hire someone to do it for you. A little capital is just what you need.

Software Installation/Phone Pimping: Here in Nigeria, this has become a routine many youths undergo to have that extra cash. Install software, upload themes, music, videos and pictures into phones and p.c’s for money. Little capital is needed for this business.

Recharge Card Printing: There is no doubt that this has transformed many individuals. As people continue to buy millions of recharge card vouchers every day, this business has continued to make people rich. You can start with a capital of N 10,000This is one area I personally have invested into. I’ll be sharing soon with you guys the items you need and how you can start this business.

Ghost Writing: This is a very lucrative business for just anyone with the skill of writing. Ghost writing is popularly called Freelance Writing. You can write articles for website owners or companies and get paid.

How do you get this contract? There are certain websites that connects employers with employees. Such Websites include elance.com, indeed.com, simplyhired.com, freelancewriting.com. These sites are open to just anyone, sign up and find a job. I got my first freelancing job at...
