Politics / Re: How Can Nigerian Youth Help With Nigeria Rapid Development? by BukiBuki(f): 5:58pm On Nov 28, 2011 |
I was talking with a few of my Nigerian friends and I quickly realized that there are 3 types of people in the nation: 1. Those who seek selfish gain through corrupt actions 2. Those who seek the good of their compatriots with earnest & good actions 3. Those who sit in the middle and say, "Nothing will ever change." The 3rd type is the most dangerous sect in our country. Which one are you? The solution begins with answering that question. Until we personally decide to be the 2nd type of person, Nigeria will stay stagnant like the minds of the 3rd type of people. We are more than the corrupt sect. |

*dhtml: Where was I? I was in school. I was at work. I was with my friends living life. I understand that you're very proud of all your hard work here on Nairaland insulting people. That's sure to get you very far in this field. Call me when you move into your new office in Silicon Valley, yea? I just joined a few days ago and this would be much more fun place to trade ideas with people if not for some that feel better about their resumes when they push all their colleagues away with insults. What's the point of that when you can build partnerships with people that could be the next big bosses in our field? Will they now remember you and give you a job after you've finished insulting them? |

mxxpunkxx: It's fine if you don't believe me. The only people that I really have to impress are my professors and my bosses. when I write code for my bosses, I don't pay one cent of tuition for graduate school; when I write code for my professors, I get a degree in Computer Science. Why should I waste my time trying to prove that I know how to program to someone who is not employing me but only wants to insult me? A "hello world" program is something that any Joe off the street can google, copy, and paste on this forum. Think it through before insulting others (especially when no one was trying to offend you). Good luck in life, my friend. |
Webmasters / Re: I Want To Learn Web Designing! by BukiBuki(f): 11:05pm On Nov 23, 2011 |
You can learn that for free on http://www.w3schools.com/ In fact, you can learn pretty much any trade if you search it out on the web. |

Hey guys. I'm a female programmer from Nigeria. I'm in graduate school at the University of Mississippi. A few people in this thread have said that women's brains are not wired for Math and programming. That's a actually myth; please educate yourself on that. Ada Lovelace, a woman, is considered the world's first computer programmer. Google her for a few minutes; she's on wikipedia. Anyway, to the point. I've programmed in Pascal, java, C, C++, html, php, javascript and other random languages. I've taken a class on multi-paradigm programming, though, so I can program in any language for which I know the paradigm and have a manual. I work as a graduate assistant in web development and I have been a teaching assistant for an introductory programming class. Guys, please don't keep perpetuating ideas that are not even backed up by history or research. Just ten minutes googling and you'll know programming and mathematics (even music and linguistics, which are related fields by the way) are actually a matter of pattern recognition and symbol placement. It has nothing to do with whether one is male or female. |
