Business / Re: Starting Printing Publishing Biz by Bulga(m): 3:44pm On Feb 22, 2007
Why don't you be more specific by stating the print unit you intend to specialize on. That may attract the attention of the knowledgeable folks you are talking about.
Business / Re: Starting Printing Publishing Biz by Bulga(m): 1:35pm On Feb 22, 2007
In order to be successful, you need to be knowledgeable about printing press. If you have only cash I suggest you partner with a jobless printer. The kind of services you intend to offer will determine the machines you will go for. I do not know much about printing business in Nigeria, but investigating about Lithographic and Screen printing over there won't be bad. Mind you, it is very expensive to establish a modern printing press.

Please post the info of the natural products that solved your brother's problem here so that every Nairalander will know, learn or discuss about it.

@ Babwilms
Your problem could be Chronic Sinusitis. The following link will educate you more about runny nose.

I looked at the website of TAHITIAN NONI and did not understand why their company or office address (an identifiable physical address) is not there. If I were you, I won't have anything to do with the TAHITIAN NONI Juice. Brother, shine your eyes very well. A lot of things are happening on the Internet.

Dating And Meet-up Zone / Re: Females In Aberdeen by Bulga(m): 4:09pm On Feb 19, 2007
If you are looking for a Nigerian chick then I must let you know that Aberdeen is full of Nigerians both males & females. I guess it's because of the uni that offers Oil & gas courses. I even believe you can find more Nigerians over there than in Glasgow which is the biggest city in Scotland. I heard that Nigerians have their own church over there. I suggest you investigate about the church and go there every Sunday. By so doing, you will surely find a chick who will become yours.

That's my 2 cents
Romance / Re: Are Virgins Still Respected? by Bulga(m): 1:05pm On Feb 01, 2007
There was a girl I tried to disvirgin, that was some years back in Nigeria. Guys, the game was very tough. My magic stick nearly broke into two and the girl was in pain and struggled to push me off. I finally gave up and told her we should try the game another day. But from that day I made up my mind that I will never try such a thing again. I love chicks very much, but virgin is not my thing. I am not interested to marry or befriend any.

Why don't you talk to a dentist about the problem.

I do not know how dental services work in Nigeria, but in Europe it is normal to visit dental hygienist every 6 months to have your teeth cleaned proffessionally.

Presidency pleads for mercy over teenager condemned in Singapore

source: http://odili.net/news/source/2007/jan/24/65.html

THE Federal Government has written to the government of Singapore, asking it to temper justice with mercy over the fate of a Nigerian teenager, Iwuchukwu Amara Tochi, sentenced to death after being found guilty of alleged trafficking of 727.03 grams of heroin into the country.

In a telegraph sent by the Attorney General of Federation and Justice Minister, Bayo Ojo (SAN), to the Singaporean government, Nigeria urged the government of Singapore to commute the death sentence on Tochi to imprisonment.

The Guardian learnt that President Olusegun Obasanjo had also written to his Singaporean counterpart, asking that the capital punishment be commuted to a jail term.

The telegraph sent by the Justice Minister reads: "The attention of the Federal Government of Nigeria has been drawn to a very worrisome report concerning one of her citizens, 19-year-old Iwuchukwu Amara Tochi, who was convicted and sentenced to death by the High Court in Singapore for allegedly transporting 727.03 grams of heroin into Singapore and is now awaiting execution with the said sentence having been affirmed by the Court of Appeal in Singapore.

"There has been equal concern shown in my country by civil societies and particularly the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) over the offence, entire trial and procedure adopted leading to the death sentence.

"In a nutshell, a lot of concern has been expressed over the following:

* that the international standard of fair trial and due safeguards were not complied with;

* that the procedure for the trial was fraught with contradictions and cannot be said to be dependable and reliable;

* that the executions (in Singapore) are discriminatory based on political and racial considerations;

* that the trial exhibits an oppressive standard of proof which makes an accused guilty until his innocence is proved contrary to the orthodox and internationally acceptable principle;

* in the instant case, the trial judge also acknowledged in the judgment leading to the conviction that there was doubt and that the accused did not have the knowledge of the fact that he was in possession of the drug, heroin. The doubt expressed by the judge should have been resolved in favour of the accused; and that

# the fact that 19-year-old Iwuchukwu Amara is a non-Singaporean citizen, a first offender and circumstances leading to his sentence should make the Singaporean Government commute his death sentence to imprisonment.

"The Federal Republic of Nigeria has enjoyed a very cordial relationship with Singapore, especially in the areas of trade, commerce and diplomatic relations. I am not in doubt that this relationship will continue for a very long time to come.

"As the Chief Law Officer of the Federation of Nigeria, I wish to call your attention to the contradictions contained in the judgment, the basis of the death sentence handed down to this young Nigerian. I also want to mention that should these legal irregularities and contradictions be realised or discovered in the future, it will be too late to seek correction as the accused would have made the supreme sacrifice.

"It is for the above reasons that I apply for an urgent Presidential clemency on behalf of the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the death sentence of Mr. Iwuchukwu Amara Tochi to be commuted to a term of imprisonment.

"While I anticipate your compassionate treatment of this request, please accept the assurances of my highest esteem regards."
Travel / Re: Cheap Flights From London To Abuja by Bulga(m): 9:58am On Jan 23, 2007
Orbitz, Masterfare and others are travel agents and they must add their own commission. So are they truly cheap?

I Believe that buying flight ticket directly from Airline's website is the best way to get a cheap flight to anywhere in the world. This way you will avoid Airline's over-the-counter commission and travel agent's commission. (Please correct me if am wrong). That's how I buy my own flight tickets. But you need a credit card. If you don't have one, you may use your friend's own and give the person the cash.

I suggest you look at British Airways website and see what they have to offer: (www.britishairways.com)
Family / Re: Can You Marry A Former Prostitute? by Bulga(m): 2:42am On Jan 18, 2007
@ fynewaka
I know what I want in life and the kind of upbringing I would like to give my kids. I won't befriend any chick I know that she is or was a prostitute talkless of marrying one. I don't care about repentance this time and I don't want to know what forced the person into the dirty business. The worst mistake one can make is to marry out of pity. I have no cogent reason to marry someone who carries such a stigma when there are so many chicks on earth. I am fully aware that nothing is perfect, but I will do my best to find myself a decent girl. Tell me, who doesn't like decency?

Hi, I tried sending a mail to Weev but it was rejected. I am very sad about that.

It's all about Glasgow, Scotland. I heard that the city is a very rough place. Does anyone know how save it is for an African to live and study there? What of the ability to socialise? Is it multicultural city?

Somebody, advise please!

Thanks

How come you are so wise? I guess you are a guy, If not I will do my best to befriend you and see if we can take the relationship to a serious level smiley. We need more people you here.

@ Deejnr,

In my own case, I am a Bulgarian citizen (originally from Nigeria). I am making moves to relocate to the UK very soon. And am thinking of living in Glasgow, Scotland, but I know nobody over there. Is there someone who could just be of help by introducing me to the kind of life over there.

Let me know if you can so that I will provide you with my email address.

Thanks in advance.
Nairaland / General / Re: Pls Help With My Marriage by Bulga(m): 5:14am On Jan 01, 2007
I am sorry for your situation. But, women, women, women, I do not understand why womenfolk find it difficult to relate with one another. Whatever being the case, note that confrontation will do you no good, and if you stick to it you will be the loser at the end. You better bring your mind together and find a way to make Peace with those chicks. Diplomacy is the best weapon you can use to win the war.

I wish you a Happy New Year!

Take care

I guess you are talking about beauty contest. Facially you look beautiful. But the picture you posted here shows only your face. It's not good enough for one to weigh whether you are good for a beauty contest. I suggest you post a better picture.

By the way, I wish you a Happy New Year!

This topic is interesting for me because am making moves to study Printing (HND) at Glasgow Metropolitan College. After that I will proceed to study one year degree 'top-up' course at the University of the Arts London. I am curious to know what it's like for an African to live and study in Glasgow, Scotland. And, does any one know the African population over there?

I wish all Nairalanders Happy New Year.
Career / Nursing or Printing Technology? by Bulga(m): 4:13pm On Dec 11, 2006
I am planning to pursue a career in nursing or printing industry in the UK. I have equal likeness for both, so I do not know the one to choose. I would like to start one of them by acquiring a bachelors degree in it's field.

My friends told me that nursing is the bomb because I will get a better financial support while studying and a better salary when I start working. But I am a little bit afraid of choosing nursing because a lot of people are now rushing into it and I guess the profession will be saturated in the next few years and that may be when I will graduate because the course takes 3-4 years to complete.

As for printing technology, it means that at the end I may become a printer or lithographer. The pay may not be that good but I will have the chance of becoming selfemployed in Europe. And when I am tired of living in the western world I can easily go back to Nigeria and set up a decent printing business.

Good people of Nairaland, please let me know the best way I should follow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I thank you all for the responses and the support am getting. They mean a lot to me.

At present, I am conducting careful research that will enable me to choose a course (access or vocational) and an institution I will study at. Besides, I have packed my belongings, I am waiting for January to relocate to London. So there's no element of procrastination.

Once again, thanks. I will keep following this thread so any advice you give will still be highly appreciated.

How Can A Drop-Out Go Back & Acquire Higher Education?

Hello Nairalanders,

I just learned of this forum from a friend. Wow, it's very interesting and educative. You are doing a great job.

I would like you guys to please advice me on what to do. I was not privileged enough to acquire good education because of poverty. I dropped out of secondary school without taking WAEC examinations because I was angry at life and I wanted to make a better life for myself and my family.

After dropping out of school I managed to travel to Bulgaria. Initially, I did menial jobs. At a time, I developed business relationships with some traders in Nigeria and some other African countries and started supplying them with goods. So money started coming in and my family back home started smiling.

To make a long story short, I am now 33 year old and a holder of Bulgarian passport. As from January 2007 Bulgaria will become a member of the European Union. So I would like to relocate to the UK to see if I can go back to school.

Please advice me on how I can brush myself up and acquire higher education over there.

Thanks in advance.
