This is my story, i applied for tourist visa through an agent. He handed me the visa which is genuine but didnt give me my passport, i ask for the passport he told me the company which am going to work in dubai is holding the passport. That i should send a scanned copy of my flight ticket to them in dubai for them to release my passport. Pls am asking, is that how company do, i never buy flight ticket because i dnt want story. I need advise pls

I laugh in Swahili ;DI just hope it’s not what I’m thinking. Someone is going to use your passport to exit Dubai. Many Nigerians are in Dubai stucked over there over visa overstay. They need a new comer’s passport to exit back to Nigeria. I have been there. That’s what they do. If you overstay your visa in Dubai without an employment, all your overstay days attract fines. Most visa overstay cannot pay hence they cannot get out and so they need someone else’s fresh passport to exit. I hope he has not sold your passport to such people

I was at Point of entry in the United States just 3 months ago. I swear we werein the the queue for hours! Why because, Infront of us were Chinese students over a hundred of them yes over a hundred! All of them were holding F1 student form at immigration. Guess what?! 90% of them could not speak a word in English. It was so bad that they announced on the speaker severally that Chinese translators should come to window this and that.
I just looked at it and said so they are accepting these people because they stand to gain?! Imagine admitting people in to study who do not understand a word in the language of instruction.
The way things are going around the world it is becoming clearer and clearer that we have no other option than to fix our own country and remain in it.

The question you need to ask yourself is, how many Chinese students violate their visa after their study. They mostly go back to China to develop China. Most of them are children of rich Chinese tycoons. But that cannot be said about Nigerians. No Nigerian wants to leave the US after study.

Dear poster, my advice for you is to return home in peace. Do you have a skill? You can even start sending applications for jobs back home. Teaching jobs are abundant here although the salary may not be what you will like but you'll have enough time for your kids, you won't be hiding like a thief or prisoner, you'll have support from family and friends which your kids need. For example where i live, a small community of less than 2000 there are more than 15 creches and schools, as in many options to keep your kids while you work. You can still sell stuffs online dear. Don't believe anyone that tells you will not survive or become suicidal. I know for you to even get the visa in the first place, you were not suffering, go back to your life. From there, you can sponsor your kids abroad when you deem fit.

Which kind advice be this. To come and be looking for all these mushroom school jobs that owe their teachers month after month. School pupils parents are not helping the matter, owing their children school fees too. I have someone running a private school. The school closed at last since parents were not paying.

I live in the U.S and have been for more than a decade. Again, yes there is a "difficult " path way for them and I have seen people that have gone through it successfully. Worse come to worse, if they committed a felony prior to trying to legalize themselves, if the state Governor pardons them, they are back on track.

Try and schedule an appointment with an immigration lawyer near you, some of them have free 1 hr appointment . They will answer more of your questions.

Something to keep in mind though, people are not always honest about their immigration movements, why they are stuck in the process or why they didn't do what you think they should have done.

Since as a US Citizen, I am not going to approach the embassy with known fraudulaent paperwork. What is the correct process/approach to getting this corrected? Also, what is the cost I should be looking at.

The agent thought he could get her a visa just by increasing her age. People don’t know it’s gonna hunt them in the future. Another example I think.

Even at that, Marriage is not an assurance that your children will take care of you at old age, some people children were married to bad wives who will make their kids neglect them. And again marriage is not an assurance that your wife will see you till your old age.

My advice for OP is to live his life as he wants, don't make any decision that u don't like because it will be you, you and you at the end of the day, another thing is if u are going that part, I'll advise u relocate to a sane country like USA where no one cares or sees marriage as an achievement. Hey nairalanders, what do you think? Is this normal? Marriage doesn't appeal to me at all same as having kids, I prefer having dogs even now i have 2 of them and as soon as I get a job and make enough money I plan on getting 3 more making them 5 in number. I know most people, the first thing they want to do as soon as they get a job is to get married and have kids but not me, I'm also not interested in having a girlfriend, though I used to have one back then when I was in the university but we were forced to leave each other being that she had to go back to her country and I had to come back to Nigeria.
After that I got another girl here in Nigeria, but I had to leave her because she was too expensive and she was draining me financially. After that, I just lost interest in relationships and I decided to be single, I decided that even if I feel the need to lay with a woman I can just go to an ashawo hotel or get a steady woman who I can be calling any time I need company. I think this is the lifestyle that suits me especially in this harsh economy, its easier for me. If I get married and have kids imagine all the money I'm going to have to be spending, excess groceries, all kinds of bills, school fees and the list goes on.
At least having a steady woman to call like maybe once a week can't be as expensive as getting married and supporting a wife.
Also having dogs can't be as expensive as raising kids, with dogs all I need to do is to buy their feed, their grooming products and pay for their medical bills and probably training fees too but with kids and a wife imagine all the bills, the lists keep compiling and they never end.
What is your take on this? What do you think?

If you were in places like the US where you can be transferred to assisted living facilities for seniors(old people), where they are well being taken care of, that might be okay for you to remain unmarried with no kids for the rest of your life.

But in Nigerian situation, by the time you are old, no matter how much money you have, it will then dawn on you that you should have got married with kids. You don’t want to live in solitude at the ripe age of your life with no one you can call your own that you can talk to. By that time, everyone you know today, your siblings and relations would abandon you because they too would be living the last part of their life. Only your children and your old wife will be all you got.
