Amnesty International says Nigerian soldiers killed at least 17 people during a recent gathering of Biafran separatists in the country’s southeast. The military is denying the allegations.

Supporters of the Indigenous People of Biafra gathered in the city of Onitsha and surrounding communities late last month to commemorate the date when southeastern Nigeria seceded and became the short-lived Republic of Biafra.IPOB, as the group is known, was planning a march to mark the anniversary. Amnesty International says the night before the event, the military raided a church where Biafra supporters were sleeping. Soldiers allegedly fired tear gas and live bullets at hundreds of people, killing at least one person.

The following day, Amnesty says soldiers shot people gathered at a bus station and also fired on protesters blocking a junction in Onitsha, killing a bystander.

Makmid Kamara, project coordinator for Amnesty International, says the shooting victims were unarmed.

We think these shootings amount to extrajudicial killings and a lot of the shootings were indiscriminate, said Kamara.

Army denies report

Nigeria’s army denied the Amnesty report. In a statement, it said members of IPOB engaged in “violent protests” that killed two police officers and wounded soldiers.

IPOB said at least 50 of its members were killed in the incident. Amnesty said it can only confirm the deaths of 17, but that they believe the bodies of those killed were taken somewhere by the military.

Agitation by separatists in Nigeria’s southeast has been on the rise in recent months. The arrest of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu last October further inflamed tensions. In February, two people were killed during a protest in the southeastern city of Aba.

Nigeria’s military has come under fire from human rights groups for other incidents as well. A year ago, Amnesty International accused the military of killing thousands suspected of ties with Boko Haram insurgents in the northeast.

Human Rights Watch criticized the army in December for killing hundreds of members of a Shi’ite sect in the northern city of Zaria.

Nigeria’s military has generally denied these charges, saying their soldiers respect lives and property.

Kamara said the recent incidences show that rule of law is eroding in Nigeria.

“In the case of the IPOB, or the pro-Biafra supporters, we are extremely worried that the heavy-handedness of the Nigerian military force is leading to increased level of impunity,” said Kamara.

The report says many of those killed and injured are still being held by the military.

The Federal House of Representatives has passed for second reading, the bill seeking to alter sections 65, 106, 131 and 177 of the 1999 constitution to reduce the age qualification for candidates seeking elective offices in the country.

The bill is seeking to reduce the qualification into the office of President from ages 40 to 30 years, office of Governor from 35 to 30 years, the Senate from 35 to 30 years and the federal and state houses of assembly from 30 to 25 years.

According to the sponsor, Hon Tony Nwulu, many countries across the globe have called for a reduction in age qualification into elected offices. He also said that it will give room for the youths to participate in democratic processes.

He said: Countries like the United Kingdom parliament decided in 2006 to lower their age of candidacy from 21 to 18, which had existed since the parliamentary elections Act 1695.

An age candidacy of 25 would encourage greater youth participation in politics. This desire itself could be viewed as a sufficient warrant for young people to participate, demonstrates a willingness to engage and fulfill the burdens of office.

Speaking on Independent candidacy, Nwulu stressed the need to open up space for lawmakers to come in as independent candidates.

It is pertinent now to amend the constitution to make room for independent candidates to widen the democratic processes in our elections, and above all to encourage our young ones to fully participate in all elective offices, Nwulu said.

The House adopted the bill after it was put to a voice vote by the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara and was referred to the adhoc committee on Constitutional Review.

Barcelona is angrily at the banning of Blaugrana fans from flying the “estelada” Catalan nationalist flags at Sunday’s Copa del Rey final against Sevilla in Madrid.

According to ESPN, the club says its fans’ “freedom of expression” is being denied.

Spain’s “King’s Cup” final is often a scene of political protest, such as when Barca and Athletic Bilbao fans loudly whistled the national anthem and King Felipe VI at the Camp Nou last year.

Authorities in the Spanish capital have decided to clamp down on such possible behaviour ahead of the 2016 final, being played at Atletico Madrid’s Estadio Vicente Calderon, with government delegate Concepcion Dancausa invoking a law against symbols or banners that “incite, foment or support violent or terrorist behaviour.”

Catalan regional president Carles Puigdemont and Barcelona mayor Ada Colau have both said they will not attend the final in protest.

Barca has issued an official statement reacting to the government’s ruling, saying such actions were an attack on their fans’ universal and fundamental human rights.

Business has boomed in Donald Trump’s financial empire during the time he has run for president, according to an analysis of his federal disclosure forms.

The documents, including a lengthy filing released Wednesday and one from last July, show that revenue has increased by what Trump campaign statements say is almost­ $190­­ million, with gains coming from golf courses to branded merchandise to book royalties.

At his tony Florida resort Mar-a-Lago, revenue nearly doubled, climbing from about $16 million in 2014 and the first half of 2015 to about $30 million since the start of his campaign, according to the forms.

The flood of cash highlights one of the most unusual aspects of Trump’s candidacy — the potential that a private businessman can benefit financially from a run for the White House. And it shows how his fortunes have evolved since last year, when his controversial comments about immigration and Muslims threatened to tarnish his business brand even if they boosted his political campaign.

Trump announced the new filing Tuesday, saying he is “proud” that it “is the largest in the history of the FEC.” Government officials declined to confirm Trump’s assertion.

Presidential candidates are required to provide, under oath, an annual financial disclosure listing their business interests.

To gauge the effect of the campaign on Trump’s companies, The Washington Post compared his two disclosure forms, which were released by the Federal Election Commission.

Last year’s form reported that Trump’s holdings brought in revenue of $362 million in 2014 and the first half of 2015, the campaign said in a statement.

The form released Wednesday — which the campaign said shows revenue spiking to $557 million — covers a shorter period of time but encompasses the life of his presidential campaign, from July 2015 until Monday.
The new disclosure comes amid swirling questions about Trump’s income and net worth. This week, he reiterated his past claim that he was worth more than $10 billion, although he has not provided independent evidence to back up the claim.

His refusal to release his tax returns, which would provide detailed information about his income, has drawn fire from some Republican critics and likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Wednesday’s disclosure did little to shed light on his actual income.

While Trump’s campaign issued a statement referring to the form as a tally of his personal “income,” it is actually a list of his companies’ gross revenue — a figure that does not factor in the costs of paying employees and running the companies. In addition, the FEC form does not account for debt interest payments, a potentially significant expenditure for Trump, who lists five loans of over $50 million each.

When asked if Trump believed the campaign had been good for business, campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks said, “Mr. Trump and the Trump Organization has always owned and operated the most successful and iconic properties.”

Trump said this week he used the added revenue to fund “construction projects at various multimillion-dollar developments,” reduce his debt and fund his campaign.

The revenue jump appeared especially pronounced at Trump’s golf courses.

At Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Fla., where in March the mogul used his Super Tuesday victory speech to promote Trump Steaks and other products, revenue jumped from $12 million to $18 million, Trump reported.

He said revenue at his course in Bedminster, N.J., increased from $16 million to $21 million. And, he said, it jumped from $14 million to $17 million at his Virginia course.

Trump National Doral, a four-course golf complex near Miami, was again the Trump empire’s largest gross moneymaker, with revenue exploding from $50 million to $132 million, according to Trump’s disclosures.

Although a number of companies that licensed Trump’s name for consumer products announced they were cutting ties because of his campaign trail rhetoric, Trump nevertheless reported his revenue from licensing deals was little changed in the past year.
For instance, he reported that he received from $1 million to $5 million from Trump-branded mattresses over the past 12 months, although Serta Mattress announced last July that it was winding down its Trump line. A spokeswoman for Serta said the company’s contract with Trump ended Dec. 31, 2015, and that, typically in licensing deals, “royalties are paid in periodic installments over the course of the contract.”

Some aspects of Trump’s business empire have sagged during his campaign.

Revenue from his menswear line, which was pulled from the shelves of Macy’s after his campaign began, declined. In 2015, he reported that it earned between $1 million and $5 million, whereas he now reports it brought in between $100,000 and $1 million.

Commissions at Trump’s New York modeling agency, Trump Model Management, fell by about $300,000, the forms show. Royalties for the accessory and skin-care lines of Trump’s wife, Melania, dropped from up to $1 million to less than $50,000.

Trump’s new report shows that he has invested in companies that he has criticized on the campaign trail, including with stock holdings in Ford, Apple and Disney.

Trump reported making up to $20,000 from interest on bonds he holds in the makers of Carrier air conditioners and Oreo cookies, both of which he has blasted for shipping American manufacturing jobs overseas.

The report says he received more than $100,000 in income from dividends and capital gains as a shareholder in Apple. Trump called for a boycott of the tech giant because of its reluctance to cooperate with efforts to break into the phones of alleged terrorists.

Trump also owns between $50,000 and $100,000 worth of Amazon stock. He has criticized the company and chief executive Jeffrey P. Bezos for “getting away with murder tax-wise” and for having a “huge antitrust problem.” Bezos also owns The Washington Post.

Trump reported that he earned $49.3 million from the sale of the Miss Universe pageant to the talent agency WME-IMG. The terms of the sale were not disclosed when it was announced in September 2015, the culmination of a fight between Trump and NBC that erupted after the start of his campaign when NBC announced it would no longer air the annual event.
Trump listed board positions on 564 different entities, most of them small partnerships or one-owner companies tied to Trump real estate. Trump said he also collected $168,584 as part of a pension from the Screen Actors Guild.

The report showed that his marquee project to build a luxury hotel down the street from the White House has prompted Trump to tack on some additional debt — a loan of $170 million from Deutsche Bank.

The disclosure also showed that Trump had over the last year opened new advisory, licensing and management corporations for ventures in foreign cities such as Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and Kolkata, India.

The filing adds another chapter to the shifting story of Trump’s wealth. Last June, when Trump descended the escalators of Trump Tower to say he was “really rich” and would run for president, his aides passed around a one-page summary asserting he was worth more than $8.7 billion.

A month later, Trump’s campaign released a new statement, saying Trump’s net worth was now “in excess of TEN BILLION DOLLARS.”

When Trump submitted his FEC disclosure last July, his campaign released a statement saying the document “was not designed for a man of Mr. Trump’s massive wealth.”

Kashim Shettima, who was represented by the Secretary to the Borno State Government, Usman Jidda Shuwa at the inauguration of the new management committee responsible for scrutinizing sources of all cattle and delay slaughter of certified cattle for claims, said the insurgents resorted to the new order because they now lack capacity to attack and loot banks, towns and other traditional methods of sourcing funds for their murderous activities.

Our security agencies have reasonably established that most of the cattle being traded at the markets were the direct proceeds of cattle rustling perpetrated by Boko Haram insurgents which were sold at prohibitive costs to unsuspecting customers through some unscrupulous middlemen who use underhand ploy to deliberately disguise the transactions as legitimate.
The money realised from such transactions would then be channeled to fund the deadly activities of the insurgents. Consequently, the insurgents, through these nefarious transactions, felt they had discovered new sources of resuscitating their already battered and degraded infrastructure, with a view to recommencing their atrocities, which have since been irredeemably halted by the Military.

As a result of the situation, Shettima said, he was putting in place a committee made up of representatives of the military, the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Security, youth volunteers involved in counter insurgency operations popularly known as the Civilian JTF, Government officials and credible representatives of unions of traders and Butchers to takeover the markets so that activities in the market would resume due to public demands for meat but under a sanitized system.

Shettima announced a ban on importation of cattle into the State for the time being and also suspend the sale of dried meat.

The Governor said he would hold members of the committee responsible if trading of stolen cattle continues in any market.

For her first ever fashion shoot, she didn’t do badly at all! Thanks to Damilola from her agency @fewmodels for giving her tips on poses and expression. This is just the beginning. It’s no news that Olajumoke’s story literally broke the internet last week, and we were reminded about how amazing God’s grace is and that he’s still in the business of turning lives around and blessing us. I’d wanted to do a Christmas postcard but my schedule last quarter of 2015 was beyond hectic (Not complaining o! Lol). So I decided to do a Valentine postcard instead…Not a lookbook/collection as a lot of blogs have reported. I mentioned in my post last week that I’ll definitely be booking her and I don’t regret it one bit! It was a pleasure working with her and seeing her transform, taking instructions, moving like she’s been doing it all her life….She’s a natural.

Jumoke’s story has forced me to look closer at my surroundings. There’s absolutely no doubt she is blessed but there are a lot of Olajumokes around us…Hardworking and just want to feed and help their families. You might not be able to get that pepper seller a modeling contract, but the next time she says the price for her pepper is ₦100, please don’t price it to ₦30. I’ve been guilty of this, trust me. To think that someone around me works/walks in the sun all day and her profit at the end of the day is at most ₦500.

The World Health Organization on Monday declared a “public health emergency of international concern” Monday over the Zika virus and the health problems that doctors fear it is causing.
The agency said the emergency is warranted because of how fast the mosquito-borne virus is spreading and its suspected link to an alarming spike in babies born with abnormally small heads.

The event took place in mid-2014, in the incident, anonymous hackers flooded the Internet with private nude photographs of major celebrities, including Jennifer Lawrence, Kim Kardashian, Kate Upton and Kirsten Dunst.

The Fappening was the result of the hack of thousands of Apple’s iCloud accounts, including those belonging to Hollywood actresses, models and major celebrities.



Main Culprit Behind The Fappening

However, now two years later, new court documents reveal the name of the FBI’s top suspected hacker: Ed Majerczyk.

In October of 2014, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) raided the home of Ed Majerczyk, a Chicago man believed to be the chief culprit behind a series of 2014 leaked celebrity nude photos that came to be known as ‘The Fappening’ or ‘Celebgate’.


The man allegedly suspected of illegally accessing iCloud accounts from his home in Chicago. Also, the FBI found some sexual photographs lifted from Jennifer Lawrence, among his alleged social engineering exploits, according to court documents obtained by Gawker.
Here’s How The Fappening Happened

Majerczyk’s name came up after the federal agents raided the Chicago home of Emilio Herrera, who was alleged to have breached thousands of Apple’s iCloud accounts, including more than 100 celebrity victims.

The court documents show Majerczyk inevitably gained access to victim’s iCloud accounts after posing as an Apple Technical Assistant employee, resulting in the stealing of the nude photos of very famous actresses and subsequently leaking them to the Internet.
The FBI says Majerczyk, through a series of bogus email accounts like ‘appleprivacysecurity@gmail.com’ created a phishing dragnet that duped very famous victims into providing him with their passwords through some pretty elementary tricks…, Gawker reported.
How Did Jennifer Lawrence Hack?

Lawrence – who called the leak a “sex crime” – lost access to her iCloud account and then received a fake support email from appleprivacysecurity@gmail.com. The message reads as follows:
Your Apple ID was used to login into iCloud from an unrecognized device on Wednesday, August 20th, 2014. Operating System: iOS 5.4 Location: Moscow, Russia (IP=95.108.142.138) If this was you please disregard this message. If this wasn’t you for your protection, we recommend you change your password immediately. In order to make sure it is you changing the password, we have given you a one-time passcode, 0184737, to use when resetting your password at http://applesecurity.serveuser.com/. We apologize for the inconvenience and any concerns about your privacy. Apple Privacy Protection.
Lawrence then forwarded the phishing email to her assistant that could have given the hacker full access to her iCloud account.
The court documents show that Majerczyk used the combination of deceptive web domains and fake security warnings appear as if they originated from Apple in order to gain access to other Hollywood stars iCloud accounts.

According to the FBI, Majerczyk breached 330 unique iCloud accounts from his home a total of over 600 times in 2014. And once breached, Majerczyk downloaded the entirety of a victim’s iPhone camera roll and uploaded it on 4chan.

A report by the Sun-Times notes that the overwhelming majority of the victim’s iCloud accounts accessed by Majerczyk were from outside of Illinois.

The FBI investigation is ongoing. So let’s wait and watch what comes next.
