Music/Radio / “i’m Coming Again” – Tonto Dikeh Set To Release New Song Featuring Terry G by busoye19: 4:01pm On Nov 30, 2012
Tonto Dikeh has definitely emerged from all the scathing criticisms that greeted her first two singles, a much stronger person.

Not only has the actress-cum-singer gone on to grant interviews on her ‘music career’, she has been scheduled to perform at the Rhythm Unplugged concert on December 23. And just yesterday, we reported that Nigezie, will be sponsoring her new video.

Buoyed by all these, Miss Dikeh, is set to release new material. She revealed this on Twitter, where she confirmed she was working with eccentric artiste and music producer, Terry G, in the studio.

The Akpako Master himself confirmed it, tweeting “Recording a hit sound at the moment with @tontolet… Y’all gonna luv this one.. GBES!!”

Tonto added: “Greater surprizes** Hehehehehehe, Ya’ll better burn all ya speakerz oo**I’m coming again n stronger, No dullin*I rule it*”

Family / Court Reads Ojukwu’s Will: “his Estate And Monies Belong To Bianca” by busoye19: 3:41pm On Nov 30, 2012
Daily Post has gathered that the Enugu High Court, today disclosed content of the will of the late Nkemba of Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu.

The deceased before he died, willed majority of his estate and monies to his widow, Bianca.

Ojukwu who led Igbo during the Biafra war which lasted three years (1967-1970), died last November in the United Kingdom after a prolonged illness. He was age 78.

The late military officer, was given a state burial by the Federal Government, although some elites were against the idea, accusing Ojukwu of planning to secede from the country.

He contested presidency in 2003, under the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Family / Parents Learn Of Daughter’s Death On Facebook by busoye19: 7:11am On Nov 30, 2012
The parents of a south Georgia college student first learned from Facebook that their daughter had been found dead in a dormitory study room shortly before Thanksgiving. Now, they hope that Facebook and other social media sites can help solve the death of 17-year-old Jasmine Benjamin, which police are investigating as a homicide.

The Valdosta State University freshman was found unresponsive on a study room couch on Nov. 18. A family friend forwarded the Facebook post about the teen’s death to her parents before they were officially notified by authorities, said A. Thomas Stubbs, an attorney for the victim’s mother, Judith Brogdon, and her stepfather, James Jackson. But many questions remain unanswered about how she died.

The family has hired a private investigator, and a new Facebook site has been set up in hopes that students and others might share tips.

While some Facebook comments have already been turned over to law enforcement officers, the family hopes friends, classmates or others who noticed suspicious comments will also alert authorities. “Anything that reveals a little more information than what’s publicly known about her death, those are the kind of comments police are looking for as someone who might warrant a closer examination,” Stubbs said.

Also of interest are “unusual comments or unusually timed comments about her death,” he said. Police detectives have canvassed dormitories and interviewed several students on the campus, located about 250 miles south of the family’s home in Gwinnett County, outside Atlanta.

Benjamin wanted to follow the career path of her mother and become a nurse. Police say they’re treating the case as a homicide, though autopsy results are not complete and they can’t say for certain whether she was killed. There were no obvious signs of a crime when her body was found, but an autopsy raised questions, authorities have said.

“We’re providing what resources are necessary to assist Valdosta State University police in solving this crime,” Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman John Bankhead said. “The crime lab is expediting evidence from this incident.”

Shortly after Benjamin’s parents learned of her death from Facebook, Lawrenceville police officers knocked on the doors of the family home to inform them officially that their daughter was dead, Stubbs said. “As frustrating as that may be for the family to learn that way, they understand it’s a different world,” Stubbs said.

The family has yet to learn the possible timeframe of when their daughter died, and police have not shared any theories about how she was killed, Stubbs said. “We know that they have looked at the phone records, video records that they can find in the school,” he said. Beyond that, they’ve been going through legal procedures that are required to obtain records from Facebook Inc.

The family hired Martinelli Investigations Inc. of Lawrenceville to assist in the investigation. Private investigator Robin Martinelli said Wednesday that any video near the scene, even if may seem insignificant, could prove helpful in the investigation. “It wouldn’t matter if it was two weeks before, two hours before or 20 minutes before,” she said.

Officials at the university say the wiring for a surveillance system in the dormitory where Benjamin died was already installed. Theresa Boyd, director of communications at the school, said the cameras were on backorder and had not yet arrived when Benjamin died.

The cameras are now being installed in residence hall elevators, Boyd said. Martinelli said she’s confident that police are working diligently to follow up on leads, but private investigators can often provide valuable assistance, she said. “On any homicide, they’re going to work around the clock aggressively every minute, and they’re doing that,” she said.

She said Jasmine Benjamin was a strong student who showed great potential. “Her favorite color was purple, her nickname was Jazzy,” she said. “She wanted to help people, plain and simple,” her stepfather, James Jackson, told WSB-TV. “That was her goal in life. That’s all she talked about since she was young — ‘I want to be able to help people.’”

Valdosta State campus police, city police and the GBI were working together to conduct interviews and collect evidence, the university said in a statement Tuesday. University officials said they couldn’t release any further information.

Martinelli hopes students away at college keep in touch with their parents — and give them the passwords to social networking sites and their cell phones in case anything happens. “If you have passcodes to your computer, your phone, please tell your parents,” she said. “Don’t tell everybody in the world, but tell your parents your passcodes.”

She said some of the best advice parents can give students is this: “They should listen to their gut,” she said. “If they walk into a situation and it’s not feeling right, leave.”

Politics / Court Dismisses Ibb’s $12.4bn Gulf Oil Windfall Suit by busoye19: 5:58pm On Nov 29, 2012
A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the suit filed by civil society groups against the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, and the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.
The judge, Justice Gabriel Kolawole, delivered the ruling on Thursday in Abuja. He said the applicants lack the locus standi to institute the case.
Justice Kolawole however said the plaintiffs should not be seen as busy bodies but patriotic citizens.
Six civil society groups, including the Socio-Economic and Accountability Project (SERAP), sued the Attorney- General of the Federation (AGF) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) over the much publicised $12.4 billion oil windfall, which the country recorded between 1988 and 1992, while former military President, Retired General Ibrahim Babangida, was in power.
The groups wanted the court to compel the government to release a report of a probe panel headed by Pius Okigbo which probed the spending of the money by the government.
The Federal Government raised many arguments against the suit including: that the report was missing, only the AGF could demand for such a report, and the court had no jurisdiction to entertain the suit.

Foreign Affairs / Obama To Host Romney Over Private Lunch by busoye19: 9:51am On Nov 29, 2012
Massachusetts governor, who was convinced even on election day that he would be the 45th US President, but was outwitted by Obama’s political machine.

The president has in the past appeared magnanimous to former foes, notably when he asked Hillary Clinton – who he defeated in a Democratic primary – to join his “team of rivals” first-term cabinet as secretary of state.

It is unclear whether the meeting is just for appearances’ sake as he seeks to heal political wounds of a divisive election or if he has any specific task in mind for Romney and, if he did, whether the Republican would accept.

Obama said in his first post-election press conference earlier this month that, despite an acrimonious campaign that saw his team lambast the Republican’s character, he hoped to work with  Romney on some issues.

“There are certain aspects of Governor Romney’s record and his ideas that I think could be very helpful,” Obama said on November 14, adding that Romney had done a “terrific job” running the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics in 2002.

“He presented some ideas during the course of the campaign that I actually agree with. So it would be interesting to talk to him about something like that.” he said.

Crime / Re: Shocked Father Narrates How His Daughter’s Fiancé Bathed Her With Acid by busoye19: 9:37am On Nov 29, 2012
Crime / Shocked Father Narrates How His Daughter’s Fiancé Bathed Her With Acid by busoye19: 9:32am On Nov 29, 2012
For 22-year old Chika Egbo, student of the Enugu State College of Education, life will never be the same again as her estranged lover, David Sulaimon, has bathed her with acid – destroying every visible skin from her chest upwards.
Chika who is currently receiving treatment at the Burns Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, had met Sulaimon sometime last year and they immediately struck a chord to the extent of planning marriage.
Chika’s father, Matthew Egbo, a Taraba State-based businessman, narrated the incident that led to his daughter’s state – the story brought tears to his eyes as he lamented that his daughter would never be normal again.
According to Matthew, after agreeing to give his daughter’s hand in marriage to Sulaimon, he requested him to bring his parents for proper introduction, but the suitor said his father was ill and needed to be taken abroad for treatment. He also said his mother was abroad.
However, a date of June 25 was agreed on and Sulaimon brought seven men and four women dressed in Yoruba attire to the Matthew’s hometown, Enugu, where the introduction was held.
“But around November last year, my wife travelled from Taraba to Enugu and Chika told her she was pregnant” Matthew narrated. But Chika told her parents they should not be alarmed since she and Sulaiman had agreed to get married.
Chika was instructed to go to Lagos and tell Sulaiman’s relations about the pregnancy.
But when she got back from Lagos, Chika told her father that she discovered that most of what Sulaiman had told her about his parents were lies. While his supposedly ‘ill’ father was not only hale and hearty, he denied knowledge of any plans by his son to get married. Likewise, Sulaimon’s mother was not abroad as claimed – she received Chika well and even expressed joy that her son had found someone to marry.
That would be the last time the Matthew’s family heard anything from Sulaimon nor his family until she put to bed a baby girl on May 4. Chika still informed Sulaimon of her safe delivery but he gave series of excuses why he could not visit her.
He reportedly told her he was facing some challenges and did not have the wherewithal to take care of the baby at the moment.
After a few months and Chika’s baby girl was weaned, her parents took the decision to take care of the baby so she could continue with her education.
It wasn’t till November that Sulaimon began to request that he needed to see his baby, but Matthew told him to bring his parents to come and iron things out.
Chika was said to have insisted she did not want to have anything to do with the young man anymore.
But on November 5, Chika travelled to Lagos after Sulaimon had informed her that his mother wanted to see her. The unsuspecting girl left Enugu without informing her parents. That would later turn out to be a move she’ll rue for life.
From what Matthew gathered, soon as Chika got to Igando, Lagos, Sulaimon met her and she demanded that he should take her to his mother who wanted to see her.
“What we gathered from the little she could mumble to us was that Sulaimon went behind a house and as they were about to pick an okada to his mother’s house, he brought out a polythene.
“But when they stopped at a point and Chika thought they were going to proceed to his mother’s house, he just opened a container in the polythene he was carrying and emptied its content on her head.
“She told us when she realised that what Sulaimon poured on her had began eating into her skin, she raised the alarm and called for help.”
It was learnt that passersby and sympathisers, who had been alerted to the young woman’s plight, pursued the fleeing Sulaimon and when he was apprehended, they took him to Ikotun Police Station.
“Till now, I still don’t know why he did what he did,” Matthew said.
Divisional Police Officer of Ikotun, Mr. Augustin Akika, confirmed the incident, but said the suspect had been transferred to the state Criminal Investigations Department, Yaba.

Politics / “CAN Ready To Sue Boko Haram” – Pastor Oritsejafor by busoye19: 9:07am On Nov 29, 2012
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on Wednesday said it has concluded plans to drag the radical Islamic group, Boko Haram, before the International Criminal Court.

The doubt however, is how the umbrella body of Christians will pursue the charges against a generally faceless group.

Speaking on Wednesday at the opening of the National Executive Council Meeting of the Association in Awka, the Anambra State capital, CAN President Ayo Oritsejafor, also noted that it was high time the Federal Government pronounced the group a terrorist organisation.

The nation’s Christians’ leader said: “We at CAN are strongly considering pressing charges against the Boko Haram sect for crimes committed against Christians at the International Criminal Cour,t and we will commence soon.”

“The Federal Government should designate the Boko Haram sect as a foreign terrorist group.”

“We will not encourage Christians to carry arms, but we have always called on Christians and the churches to defend and protect themselves. The way the sect is succeeding in its attacks, it is obvious that it is not done yet.”

Oritsejafor who is also the Founder of Word of Life Bible Church, asked Northern Governors to do more in tackling the uprising of the sect.

“We call on the Governors of the 19 Northern states to come together and hold a meeting to know the fate of their people who are being killed in the north.”

“Without the measures put in place by the Southern Governors, there will be reprisal attacks every day. So why shouldn’t the Northern Governors put in the same measures?” Oritsejafor queried.

Education / 26-year-old Plumber’s Son Emerges Futa’s Best Student by busoye19: 6:05pm On Nov 27, 2012
The family of Mr. Nurudeen Adegoke, were highly elated on Saturday as their 26-year-old son of a plumber graduated with a first class degree in Mathematics and as the overall best graduating student at the 24th convocation ceremony of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Ondo State, on Saturday.

Adegoke said being a son of a plumber did not deter him from achieving success.

He emphasized that the road that leads to success is challenging but thanked God for seeing him through while assisting him to achieve his heart desires as he had to put in personal efforts to get himself through his degree programme.

He said, “I really worked very hard. No unserious student can survive the rigour at the Mathematical Science department from where I graduated. I was very prayerful too.

“Right from my first day in FUTA, I was determined, focused and diligent. I was humble too because humility is very essential in anything one is doing.

“I was at the Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke, for my Ordinary National Diploma in Statistics. I got direct admission to FUTA, doing everything on my own.

“My dad is a plumber while my mother is a petty trader. I am really from a humble background. Being the first child of my family, I made up my mind to be serious and hardworking so that I could help my
parents in taking care of the academic needs of my younger ones.

“I always had it at the back of my mind that I must pass very well if I really wanted my certificate to be useful to me and I was always prayerful and focused.

“I used to get involved in tutorials. I didn’t play with my academics. I am not sure I had any social life because I didn’t want any form of distraction,” Adegoke added.

He urged students not to play with their studies and always have it at the back of their minds that they have to pass very well.

DailyPost gathered that 15 out of the 1,960 students that graduated had a first class degree, 561 were in the second class upper division, 998 graduates were in the second class lower division; 331 in the third class; while 55 of them graduated with a pass.

Jobs/Vacancies / First Batch Of Dangote Truck Drivers To Graduate In January 2013 by busoye19: 3:43pm On Nov 27, 2012
The Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Aminu Yusuf, Monday disclosed that the first batch of the 2,000 Dangote graduate drivers trainees will conclude their training in January, 2013.

Yusuf in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), stated the training would be done in batches of 100 participants on quarterly basis.

The programme which is spread over a period of four years would end in 2016.

The DG also disclosed that the institute was carrying out the training in conjunction with the Federal Vehicle Inspection Officers and the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).

“These graduates, which include women from the Dangote Group, will undergo a three -month training because they have no knowledge of driving before being certified as drivers.

“They have graduated from different universities but have never driven vehicles before.”

“After being certified as drivers at the end of the training, they will be licensed immediately.”

“These drivers will be different from other drivers because they are not illiterates and their training is sound,’’ he said.

He said the institute was determined to provide human capital development in the transport industry.

“It is our inherent duty to provide human capacity for the entire transport industry through training and retraining, orientation skills and development and professional training.

“We feel that we should extend our services to lower cadre especially our middle level and top management training institute.’’

The NITT boss further said: “But because of frequent demands from organisations for customised training programmes for drivers, we have now designed and customised such programmes.’’

Yusuf, a Transport expert, was recently conferred with the Dr Kwame Nkrumah African distinguished Public Service Order of merit Award 2012.

Politics / Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon Speaks On Nigeria’s Independence Celebrations by busoye19: 11:32pm On Oct 01, 2012
“As we celebrate our flag and shambolic autarky at 52, we must realize that Nigeria is still more of a geographic contrivance as has been rightly posited by Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Not with our centrifugal excrescences preponderating over our centripetal proclivities. It’s a matter for mental pabulum that we are daily drifting into our ethnic cocoons. We still remain one country with disparate ethnic agendas and I can say it for the umpteenth time again that we must sit down in a sovereign national colloquy to discuss the basis for our nationhood. Anything short of this is just vacuous scahiamachy.”
