Business / Re: Comparing The Nigerian Naira And The Benin Republic Cefa by bykes(m): 5:55pm On May 14, 2021
Mathematically they they’re are almost equivalent but residing in both countries you will agree with me that the spending power is very different. Naira has more value in Nigeria and has no value in Benin for instance you can get a hotel for 6k naira fully air conditioned in Nigeria but in Benin a hotel of 13000cefa doesn’t have air condition. A big bottle of water in Nigeria cost about 170naira but 500cefa in Cotonou. There’s higher standard of living in Benin. I think there minimum wage is high to cushion the effect

Traditional laws are sacrosanct. For instance if you wed your wife in court and still go further to marry another wife traditionally having not ended the first, you have committed bigamy. Ask layers. This is how strong tradition is. Davido stand the chance of loosing his son to Chioma’s father if he hasn’t paid her bride price even if his DNA 999%. Everyone is saying 21st century but forgetting our laws and constitution are made in 20th century
Romance / My Girlfriend Laughs Out Loud Whenever I Ask Her For Sex by bykes(m): 4:34pm On May 26, 2017
I have been cohabiting with my girlfriend since two years now and we love each other. I have noticed to my bewilderment that each time I ask her for sex, she starts laughing out seriously before allowing me. She has never refused me sex for once but the weird laugh turns me off immediately. When I say laugh, I don't mean smiles or something close to it but laughing out so loud that gets me turned off at once. Pls I need your advice. I have talked to her about it but seems she can't help it. Pls I need your advice because it's affecting our relationship seriously.

Politics / FG Declares Boko Haram As Terrorists by bykes(m): 5:51am On Jun 05, 2013
After postponing the inevitable for more than a year, President Goodluck Jonathan Tuesday finally approved the proscription of the Islamic terrorist groups, Boko Haram and Ansaru, and authorised the gazetting of an order declaring the groups’ activities illegal and acts of terrorism.

THISDAY had exclusively reported Tuesday that the president was about to issue a Proscriptive Order, effectively declaring Boko Haram a “terrorist organisation”, a designation the federal government had lobbied the United States (US) government not to use when it froze the US-based assets belonging to the leader of the sect, Abubakar Shekau and three other members of the group, a year ago.

The proscriptive order coincided with a statement by the US government Tuesday night that Shekau could be tried in the US, when caught.

The order, which has been gazetted as the Terrorism (Prevention) (Proscription Order) Notice 2013 affects both Boko Haram (Jamaatu Ahlis-Sunna Liddaawati Wal Jihad) and Ansaru (Jama’atu Ansarul Muslimina Fi Biladis Sudan), was approved by Jonathan pursuant to Section 2 of the Terrorism Prevention Act, 2011 (As Amended).

A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President, Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, explained that the Act “officially brings the activities of both groups within the purview of the Terrorism Prevention Act and any persons associated with the two groups can now be legally prosecuted and sentenced to penalties specified in the Act”.

The proscription order, Abati emphasised, warns the general public that any person “participating in any form of activities involving or concerning the collective intentions of the said groups will be violating the provisions of the Terrorism Prevention Act”.

Accordingly, Section 5 (1) of the Act prescribes a term of imprisonment of not less than 20 years for any person who knowingly, in any manner, directly or indirectly, solicits or renders support for the commission of an act of terrorism or to a terrorist group.

The statement added: “For the purposes of subsection (1) of Section 5, 'support' includes - (a) incitement to commit a terrorist act through the internet, or any electronic means or through the use of printed materials or through the dissemination of terrorist information; (b) receipt or provision of material assistance, weapons including biological, chemical or nuclear weapons, explosives, training, transportation, false documentation or identification to terrorists or terrorist groups; (c) receipt or provision of information or moral assistance, including invitation to adhere to a terrorist or terrorist group; (d) entering or remaining in a country for the benefit of, or at the direction of or in association with a terrorist group; or (e) the provision of, or making available, such financial or other related services prohibited under this Act or as may be prescribed by regulations made pursuant to this Act.”

In the meantime, the US government, which placed a $7 million (N1.1 billion) bounty on Shekau on Monday, Tuesday said the Boko Haram leader could be tried in the US, when caught.

Kurt Rice, the US acting Assistant Director of Diplomatic Security Threat Investigations and Analysis Directorate, said this at a joint tele-news conference with David Gilmour, Deputy Assistant Secretary for African Affairs.

The tele-conference was aired to audiences in Abuja, Accra, Dakar, Lagos and Niamey.

Rice’s comments came a day after the US offered a $23 million (about N3.6 billion) reward for information on the location of five leaders of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) and Boko Haram.

All the suspects named in the first US Rewards for Justice Programme for the sub-region were accused of being the mastermind of different cases of kidnap of foreigners and terror activities in West Africa.

Politics / Nearly 200 Killed In Latest Fighting by bykes(m): 7:23am On Apr 22, 2013
fighting between Nigeria's military and the armed group Boko Haram has left at least 185 people dead in a fishing community in the nation's far northeast, officials said on Sunday.

The fighting in Baga began on Friday and lasted for hours, sending people fleeing into the arid scrublands surrounding the community on Lake Chad, according to the AP news agency.

By Sunday, when government officials finally felt safe enough to see the destruction, homes, businesses and vehicles were burned throughout the area.

The assault marks a significant escalation in a long-running insurgency in the predominantly Muslim north, where Boko Haram has mounted a coordinated assault on soldiers using military-grade weaponry

Authorities had found and buried at least 185 bodies as of Sunday afternoon, said Lawan Kole, a local government official in Baga. Officials could not offer a breakdown of civilian casualties versus those of soldiers and fighters.

Many of the bodies had been burned beyond recognition in fires that razed whole sections of the town, residents said.gadier General Austin Edokpaye said the Boko Haram fighters used heavy machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades in the assault, which began after soldiers surrounded a mosque they believed housed members of the group.

Brigadier General Edokpaye said they used civilians as human shields during the fighting, implying that soldiers opened fire in neighbourhoods where they knew civilians lived.

"When we reinforced and returned to the scene the terrorists came out with heavy firepower, including [rocket-propelled grenades], which usually has a conflagration effect," the general said.

However, local residents who spoke to a journalist who accompanied the state officials said soldiers purposefully set the fires during the attack.

Dr. John Adewale Abolurin is an educationist and a visionary leader, he is one of the most educated security chiefs in the country. He has written nothing less than 10 books on security and personally monitors the NSCDC ICT. Check his records and achievements with NSCDC so far.
