Foreign Affairs / Re: Police: Only 26 Of The Rescued 2,000 Illegal Miners Are South African by calaway(m): 7:05pm On Jan 20
TONYE001:

My previous posts already noted a very high likelihood of SAn government involvement. There are corrupt government officials all over. I even called for the prosecution of all involved, whether SAn or not.

My only query was why you had to quote SAn history in the face of this incident of illegal mining. I am of the opinion that there was no need for that. Those arrested, whether their country contributed to SAn's current freedom or not, should be prosecuted per the law.

You are over thinking....... Take the quote for what it is. I did have never mentioned punishment or pardon for anybody.

because they gave them freedom means they should come back to ruin them?. Does not make sense. We keept on shouting that majority of thr Fulani bandits are not Nigerians and hoping the Nigerian Army deals with them harshly. We do not doubt that there are Nigerian elements enabling them. It's the same way the SAns are complaining too many immigrants being a bother. I don't see Namibia on the list and I don't often see SAns complain about them. Africans orientations need to change. You cannot go to someone else's land and be a bad ambassador of your own people. If you want to do as you please, go do it at home.
oga what did immigrants do this time?

People like you are the types that will help a man and then want to sleep with his wife and daughters and when the man reacts violently, you start rambling about how you have helped him in the past.

Use ur head na......how can a government come around to tell you that a market that operates in broad daylight with over 2000 stalls is illegal because there was a fire and the traders are foreign nationals that need rescue.

The shame is on you for making stupid and inane comments without using your God given brain. You lack basic common sense, if not not you won't be posting rubbish.

Go to your Yoruba house of assembly and promote the language, not the Nigerian senate or house of representatives with people from different ethnic groups.

Shame
Politics / Re: Adigun Abass Struggles To Speak English In The House Of Representatives by calaway(m): 11:59am On Jan 20
Mordson:

Do you even know what you're saying? Nigeria has over 250 languages and has English as the official language that every person who attained the barest minimum of Waec should speak and understand, yet you want close to 469 members of the Senate and house of representatives to each speak their native language freely? Have you considered the cost of employing translators and interpreters to translate between one language to the other and the added inconvenience and loss of time it can present? Why not everyone simply speak English which most Nigerians can understand?

Do you guys just make shallow comments without thinking deeply just for fun or what?

is it not a shame on you that your nation is not able to promote its indigenous lingua. Shame

Trying to grab the point here... especially as regards the OP.

OP reports criminal elements stealing the commonwealth of a nation. Please, help me understand your quote. Hope you're not attacking SAs for rightfully defending what is theirs?

Most likely, I misunderstood your post.

No the point is there was a time the black man in SA could not own or operate a mines but now that is changed. No I sincerely doubt that the mines in question is actually illegal but I will argue that it is operated by officials who are not giving government their over the table dues but because they have authority over mining in SA they operate those mines, I say this cos 2000+ miners were trapped meaning there must be more employees who r not on duty and so a figure of 3000-5000 staff can be assumed as the total number of staff. Now the question is, can the logistics and activities of even a mere 1000 men especially in mining ever go unnoticed by the SA monitoring and compliance authority? Can a mining operation this size fly under the radar?
The answer is a resounding NO. Those people were legally employed and had no inclination that they were involved in illegal mining.
The Truth about this matter is not divulged yet and once again foreigners are the scape goat.

Typical Nigerian

Get u wretched mind out of the gutter....and appreciate the larger picture. Now Africans can operate their own mines which was not the case B4 so preserve the freedom by enforcing proper management and accountability.

Indeed how times have changed. Africans engaged in all sorts of criminality in SA. Stats don't lie.
SAns also engage in criminality to a larger proportion like every where else........but SA must be thankful for the freedom and preserve it.

Wow how time has changed a lot of things......I remember when there was apartheid in SA it was very painful for Nigerians to bear including my baby self, Nigeria led a global crusade to liberate our black brothers.....when the chips are down really we only have each other....it was an uphill task as the western world turned a blind and even supported the oppression of our brothers in their own land including Israel..... Nigeria sponsored the education of very many SAns and even ensured their well being. That was why after Mandela was sworn in as president his first official tour was to Nigeria to say THANK YOU......young SAns will never know what their grandparents went through and the sacrifices and role Nigeria made and played for the life of freedom they enjoy today.

I know the SAn youth of today don't even know Eddy grant or sunny okosun they are oblivious of the huge efforts Nigeria put in for the freedom they enjoy today.

Not just Yoruba....every Nigerian language should be freely spoken and accepted as official communication in the National Assembly with state effort to ensure interpretation to all and sundary.....if you don't understand a person 's position ask and observe.

All these excuses some make for Nigerian politicians is part of the reason why all sorts of ill-bred, semi-illiterate and certificate forging characters find their way into politics and governance, and begin to run the show for the rest of us! Did Awo struggle with reading and spoken english when he was in politics and gov’t!? Why then do we treat with levity the fact that more than 6 decades later, we still have a member of the House of Reps struggling to read like a kid in primary one!? Awo would be spinning in his grave!
You have a point but u must bear mind that not all good leaders will be educated in Western ideals, wisdom and tact is a more important branch of education and it is mostly informal, a person the people want to represent them should be given the opportunity to do so.

Bandirao:

Honestly with due respect sir this is not true. What is the definition of Nigerian in the first place? I used to think Nigeria was created in 1914 after the British amalgamated northern and southern protectorate of Nigeria right?
And everytribe who is in the area that become Nigeria before the British is Nigerian, so what is your point?
And by the way the Fulani are Nigeria since 1300s when they came to borno as envoys of Mali empire and later the Fulani began settling in the Hausa kingdoms.
What is more every body in Nigeria is a migrant human society didn't start in Nigeria everybody immigrated to the area, in remote prehistoric times the area we know as Nigeria is populated by bantu people before they migrated southward, and as far as I know the Fulani are not even the last settlers in Nigeria for example tiv came to Nigeria only in 18th century, but I don't hear anyone saying they are not Nigerians,.

Feel free to write the history of your family as far as Nigeria's history is concerned you are a well rounded liar and so can never deliver anything close to accurate history. Even hausa are very close to expelling Fulani from their midst. Your cannot be evil and entitled as you attach your self to others. The useless British will pay for their sins in Africa in due course.
