Career / Re: Life As A Consultant... by CallmeX: 10:31pm On Aug 13, 2020
@Marxxx many thanks for this thread. I’m looking to get into Mckinsey, preferably this year.

I studied Business Administration in Unilag and finished with a 2:1. During my time in school I interned at KPMG in the Management Consulting Department and in the prior year I was a Programmes Management Intern at Prof. Pat Utomi’s NGO. I juggled my academics with leadership responsibilities as I was founder and president of a student association, which I established to solve the problem of the unpreparedness of undergraduates for the realities of life after school. My team and I sourced for, and linked paying members of the association with internship opportunities. I also led the organization and facilitation of career oriented seminars and workshops.

Right after school, just before the commencement of the mandatory youth service program, I worked as a Junior Facility & Engagement Manager at the 2019 Presidential Campaign Office. I served and currently work at one of the biggest Record Labels in Nigeria (as music and the business of it happens to be one of my major interests.) Currently, I’m also a contributory writer at Business Day.

From my background above, I showcase a range of versatility, and it can be deduced that I have three major interests namely;
1. Leadership/Governance
2. Music/Art
3. Management/Business

Despite the fact I just concluded my NYSC, I believe I’m a good fit for the consulting industry and I’m currently burning the midnight oil on practicing the Mckinsey PST and improving by the hour, however I need your advice on if it is better to practice the PST simultaneously with case study interviews or to focus solely on the PST till I make it past that hurdle in recruitment stages?

Keenly looking forward to your response

Why does no one mention AIICO capital MMF? I noticed that they seem to always have the highest return out of all the MMFs.

Where did you get the rates please?

Where did you get the rates please?

Dfavouredone:
Good afternoon to the mutual fund gurus. I have patiently read this thread from the beginning. But I will like to ask some few questions.

1. I observed that the interest rate of top mutual fund managers does not differ too much, so besides the rate, which of:
(a) ARM
(b) Stanbic IBTC or
(c) Investment One, is more suitable to invest in base on:

(i) Good customer service
(ii) Transparency
(iii) Ease of tracking your investment
(iv) Ease to top-up more funds and cash out and
(v) Pay tax-free interest and quick compounding interest to original capital (not waiting till quarterly).

2. Secondly, people here have constantly held the position that Balanced Fund is a better investment choice than MMF for long-term investment even though the interest rate for Balanced Fund is lesser than MMF, can someone explain why. I have attached and asteric the interest rate for both Balanced Fund and MMF for two mutual fund managers (ARM and Stanbic) as at today.

To help me get quality advice, my investment plan is long-term (Maybe 7yrs and compounding the interest) and maybe spread 5m across different of fund type.

Experience gurus, help me with advice to help me optimised my portfolio. THanks

I agree with you, for the past 6months I split my investment between mutual funds and stock, for stocks I buy stocks with names/fundamental, although am putting more in stocks than mutual funds (personal reasons though) but am happy cos i know very soon I will be smiling to the bank, "after rain comes sunshine" the bears will not stay forever

How do I invest in the stock market please?

Oga 13% is good o! Do you have an idea what some people have suffered in the stock market? -25% to -50% is not too strange...if you can avearge 8% profit on the stock market, you are seen as a mini god. I hate to think I am investing my money with a company that is not customer centric though...so maybe they might have some work to do there.

Back to you, you have a lot of work to do also...you have invested money...now you need to know what your money is doing and from your statement above, you are doing badly at that. Ernie rings that in regualary here...infact i think another name for KGIF is MPR grin

Going forward, send them a nice email about the challenges you have with their requirements, they might be able to offer you a way out of the wahala. Hard copies of E-dividends seems too old skool though.

What does MPR mean?

Hello. Can I check the fund performance in percentage for stanbic ibtc mutual funds asset classes even though I only have my investment portfolio in mmf. is there a way to view investment performance for other asset classes you haven't invested in?

How can I check the fund performance rate for all mutual funds asset classes apart from the one I subscribed for? Also what does fund price entail?

I have been running a test on both. I put exactly the same amount in both funds and the growth of GIF is relatively similar to MMF but does slightly better by a margin. Given time the gap would widen. GIF over MMF because there's also the yearly dividend.

There's alot more money to be made if you spread your investment across the other funds long term.

What is the dividend rate please

Am currently investing in two money investments ...money market fund and guaranteed investment fund......

...........for money market fund....minimum investment is 50k per each addition.
for guaranteed investment fund. ...minimum investment is 20k per each addition...

For the factsheet....Google their website and contact their customer care services. .for more information.

I'm contemplating switching from stanbic mmf to Guaranteed Investment Fund. What is the current interest rate for the guaranteed investment fund?
