THE CRUSADES

The term "crusade" is also used to describe religiously motivated campaigns conducted between 1100 and 1600 in territories outside the Levant[5] usually against pagans, heretics, and peoples under the ban of excommunication[6] for a mixture of religious, economic, and political reasons.[7]

Atleast he(SLS) is smarter and intelligent than our retardEEN (GEJ).
SLS FOR PRESIDENT
COME 2O15

Please just a question, I am not particular about this debate. But I am seeing a pattern in GEJ criticism.
GEJ has a Ph.D in a science specialization from a Nigerian University, that was what we read.
I know how tough it is to do that because Nigerian professors are hard to please.

But here I read a lot of people calling GEJ "retarded". And it is becoming a coming tag on him.
Please why do most (or some people in NL) think GEJ is retarded?

Abeg I am not his proponent o, just that I wondering, for I expect everyone to hail his IQ or something.

SO ITS ONLY MEN A MURDERER IS PUT TO JUSTICE THAT YOU START SEEING BARBARISM.

SO ITS NOT BARBARIC TOO TO COMMIT A MURDER?

TEXAS STATE JUST IMPLEMENTED A CAPITAL PUNISHMENT ON  A MURDERER, THAT'S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING, INJECTION OR WHATEVER.

IMAGINE YOU ARE DEPENDENT ON THE MURDERED MAN,  YOU WILL CRY BARBARISM IF THE KILLER IS CONVICTED ?

@ DisGuy Please while writing here, no personalization or insults. Lets stay with the topic

As per the British schools and other private schools swelling in sizes, they are getting filled because of the general decadence in public schools' standards -Just like private universities are doing.
And many Nigerian British schools still use corporal punishment to some extent (though not always, and not necessarily cane). You can find out from those working there especially those ones in Lekki.

Extreme caning is barbaric, no doubt. Canes should be rarely used in a good settings, we all agree. Sparing the rod too is madness as well.

WHAT ABOUT THE STATE FINDING OUT THE MENTAL STABILITY OF TEACHER?

However, the home still has the ultimate say in the upbringing of a child. That, I hold!
Education / Re: Lagos State Outlaws Flogging Of Students & Apprentices. by camaldina(m): 9:24pm On Jul 08, 2011
Imagine a class of 23, year 10 (equivalent of your ss1 maybe). 8 are already fathers, mothers or expectant fathers or mothers.
Why? Freedom!
Freedom at home, freedom to do anything even at tender age.
[/b

That is just a typical class. Some are worse.

I have also taught in Nigerian Schools before teaching in the USA.
(Even though it was a no-cane British system)
Hell - that is the word to describe their youth when it comes to morals.
Nigerians at home think because our economy is bad, everything is bad about country,
No!
Lets fix corruption out from our politics, that is all. Our morals is far head.

Spare rod, spoil the child, destroy the society.

Sorry, can your police chase criminals (just teenagers) with choppers?

WHILE NOT FIND A MIDDLE COURSE INSTEAD OF IGNORANT EXTREMISM IN ALL WE DO?

Extreme use of cane is dangerous and yet,  its total absence is also evil.

Imagine Nigeria with its huge poverty having this kind of American social problem,

If the Western Countries are economically more developed than Africa, I believe they lack one thing: a family culture, which emanated from our strict childhood upbringing.

MAYBE YOU HAVEN'T SEEN ENOUGH  TEENAGE PREGNANCY AND OTHER YOUTH CRIME.

Then the Mathematics for instance, We do it all as 1. They break it down here. When U teach in here, U get employed as either an algebra teacher or geometry teacher or calculus teacher, not just as a Math teacher.

In 9ja, one man teaches all. A math teacher is a math teacher.

And that is the way they streamline the classes to the students. Fewer subjects, more time, narrowly specialized experts teaching each.
Education / Re: The Nigerian Standard Of Education Is High by camaldina(m): 3:54am On Jun 28, 2011
For all I know, California has some of the most expensive schools in the USA. I have never seen any program where foreign graduate students pay $100/credit as you claimed. Maybe you can show us 1. However, not getting personal sha.

Now, common sense, how does opening a book or otherwise help in balancing an account.

Talking about ease of making O-level for instance, the British and West African Curriculum both make a child to pass either WAEC or IGCSE or whatever. These are very detailed all-encompassing exams.

In California, what do they have to take to get HSD (high school diploma), the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE) plus your school credits. CASHEE is an exam that can be taken from year 10 upwards with only 3 subsets. Each failed part can be retaken in subsequent years. I've been involved in both school systems and have always marveled at the difference.
Education / Re: The Nigerian Standard Of Education Is High by camaldina(m): 2:45am On Jun 28, 2011
Error Sir, THEY DO OPEN BOOK HERE O
I have written both tests and exams here (California) in my MBA class where everything was allowed though the course was accountancy :open book, open lap top, i phone, internet, anything, but no talking sha.

With my tough Unilag upbringing, it was easy for me to have an A in accountancy (and even top the class) with moderate effort despite I had never studied accounting b4.

Although in sincerity, I had written an open book test b4 while in 9ja doing M.Sc. I guess the lecturer allowed us because it a mathematical modelling course.

In addition, do not compare the lecturers in both countries. Some talk theories alone with hardened faces while other give real life examples (with personal experiences) in a friendly atmosphere.
Romance / Re: Nigerian + American = Undateable? by camaldina(m): 3:52pm On Jun 21, 2011
Look, Nigerian men in the US think Nigerian-American girls are as loose and ill-cultured as any typical American lady. Never forget that we are a very cultured and conservative group, even when we have PhDs.

For instance, I was amazed seeing female smokers so common among Americans (both black and white) whereas it is an unwritten taboo in Africa  that smoking is only for a few male. I can not imagine myself or any relative of mine sleeping with a girl that smokes on the same bed. In-fact, I avoid sitting beside known female smokers in my classroom.

Look, a Nigerian man in the USA can date American girls for years, but he knows actually where to pick his wife when he really want to make a family. We hate women drown in Western craziness as wives or mother of our children.

NB: What you call women liberation is what we actually see as Western craziness.

Politics / Re: Jigawa State Govt Bans Daily Trust Newspaper by camaldina(m): 5:41pm On May 26, 2011
The governor can only ban the journalist if he can prove it legally that he constitute a security threat to him, otherwise all he is doing now is illegality. Why didn't Obama ban Al-Jazeerah from covering his public outing? Nigerian tyrants have been surviving for long because we the masses (including some of the so-called educated youth) foolishly find excuses for their actions and inaction based ethnic and religious sentiments.

For all I know, hunger hurt everyone the same. Let criticize a bad leader be it from your village or your beyond.

If the newspaper is misrepresenting the truth in the governor's opinion, let him go to court.

Politics / Re: Row Over CBN Clause In Banking Rule - Sanusi Requiring "Sharia-Compliance"!!! by camaldina(m): 9:15am On May 23, 2011
NIFI or any non-interest financial system can be embraced and patronized by anyone that desires so: Muslims or Non-Muslims. Islamic banks exist in Western countries (including the all secular UK) more secular than Nigeria:http://www.islamic-bank.com/

Even in the USA, the federal reserve advocates a near-zero interest rate always. Making the present Fed Chairman, Bernanke, to keep having a growing list of critics especially among the academicians (including one of my professors here in California). Some economists have always argue that high interest is a like a poison to an economy.

Lamido's only mistake was to narrow the only type of interest-free system in Nigeria to the Islamic Banking system. Of-course in any country where Islamic banks occur, they are regulated by a central bank's unit filled with specially trained specialists.

Because of Nigeria's peculiarity (with its deep islamaphobia) however, the CBN ought to make provision for the licensing of other secular non-interest based financial institutions  if the market demand for it.

Statistically  though, the most popular interest-free banks all over the world have always been owned and run by the Muslims.

With people like Ystranger around, Nigeria needs not worry about the quality of its literacy system

I thought being able to read and write improves perception while simultaneously eliminating dogmatism.

But in this case, I have been wrong.
