You want an idea and suddenly, everyone want it. With little research am sure you will know where to source for cheap food in Abuja. If you're the type that eat food, it won't be difficult to know food business. Don't tell me you can't start with 10k unless you don't want to do it.

Check the below market in Abuja and thank me later.

1: Karimo market: It is around that kado side: that is you can ask take kado area to get there or just ask questions and hopefully people will direct you/. It is a Tuesday and Friday market but people come more on Tuesdays

2: Kado fish market: As the name says, it's a fish market but they sell other things like chicken, turkey, shrimps, isam/perinwinkle, catfish etc. and at very cheap prices that is if you shine your eyes o.

3: Fruit market in maraba: it's called fruits market because they sell all things fruits and vegetables at cheap prices. you can buy your tomatoes, pepper, onions in baskets, carrots, spring onions etc and there you can do sharing, so you don't need to buy one whole basket. Just give some women 20 naira and they will share your part for you.

4: Suleja market: This market is very far o but if you still want, you can give it a try but i don't really recommend it cause of the distance.

5: Kabusa Market: this one is located around the Lokogoma axis of Abuja and it's a Saturday market.

6: Goza market: I hope i pronounced it well...This market is after kuje but before airport. The market day is on Fridays. Things are very cheap there but when you go in the evening, people say things are more cheaper because the sellers just want to sell their things off and return back to their villages.

Deidei market: This located in dei dei area of Abuja after kubwa if you are taking the high way, and it's just like fruit market. you can buy tomatoes, pepper, onions in baskets too and at a very cheap rate. I don't think it has a market day or time. just that going early makes you buy cheaper cause you are not in a hurry to do other things.

Please give me a breakdown of how i can start with 10k.

Though i have not imported before but according to my research i found out that even if items are very cheap in china, the shipping fee eats all the profit u are suppose to make. And sometimes u might import something from china only to find out that its even cheaper in Lagos.
Also for some of us living outside lagos are to pay extra money inorder to get our goods wen it gets to lagos therefore adding more expenses.
SO how can a norvice make good profit from this business?

My advice to every one here is, if u know that u ar importing things that has weight like clothing pls use sea shipping dont even try air cargo because it will drain all ur profit. I have made the mistake so i dont want any body to start biting teeth after importation.

Well, generally, most people focus on light weight products. The reason is very obvious... it is cost much less for light weight products during shipping. The higher the weight, the higher the cost of shipping. It is that simple.

You don't have to know how many piece I deal on as that makes no sense IMO... it is best to start with what you can cope with. Basically, I usually start by TESTING... at this stage, I usually import just a few pieces. Once I confirm the demand, I go back and import a lot of it. Start small and scale up. It is manageable that way.

Reasonable profit has to do with your pricing structure. You can decide how much profit that you would want to make . I made a profit of 5k for each product sold. 5000x100 = 500,000. With aggressive marketing and FOLLOW UPS on the phone it is possible. you don't have to be lazy. Take note of the caps... I say this because you will experience some popping disappointments if you do not follow up. This is because of courier companies in Nigeria who employ lazy staff with bogus lie. They lie that the person was not reachable but they NEVER called on delivery of the products and so, they had to return the products back. So what do you , you pick up the phone can call your prospects to confirm the status of delivery. In most cases, they buyers often told us that they never called or came to deliver the products. It sucks

But then, Nigerian factor will always have its spot the in scheme of our existence in this country.

It may amaze you to also know that some other guys make as much as 2-3M per month in this same importation. One guy did over 25M this year. but they didn't start today. it was a gradual process.

Among the products u have imported so far, what was the weight and how many pieces of it, and how much did the shipping company charged?
I asked because sometimes goods might be cheap on the Chinese site but wen u pay the shipping fee, then u will realise that the amount per goods bought is costlier than the price others are selling. Then at this point it will be difficult to sell or u sell at lost.

How do I make reasonable profit from importation?
