Simple: They're local champions that thrive in lawlessness and disorder, the kind seen in Nigeria. They get claustrophobic in organized societies with actual laws and regulations so they don't bother making the trip. Countries like Yemen, Pakistan, and Afghanistan are more likely the places you see them vacationing to.
I don't think you know what you talking about. Right now I can think of like 10 families living in the UK and not in any of the countries u listed above. I can think of lots of families in the US as well. You clearly just know the local ones that are lawless just like most Nigerians. And The hausas are the lawful Nigerians in the UK. You can't see them doing any dodgy thing and you can't see them living there illegally. Stop being a bigot pls! And ofcourse you can mistake them for East Africans or even black Arabs.

Very good for them. These are the people ruining our reputation abroad. I can expose such people myself. It's really sad.

Interesting topic. One very important thing is yea a typical hausa person will hardly do any dodgy thing or go to whatever length just to get a UK or US visa. Believe me maybe like 98% of them (or maybe even more) in the UK or US live there legally. Plus they so much love their home so they wouldn't go somewhere and never come back to their family.

Surely UK immigration system is tough on UK citizens who married non-UK citizen, the financial requirement is the killer, but will he be better off in Nigeria? Will get that job and live a better life? Its a tough one but maybe he should give it a year with job hunt and see how it goes
*sigh* Thanks for the advice bro. We spoke about it and he said yea he will try get a better job and then we apply for the spouse visa. No more applying for a visitor visa, he will be coming to Nigeria to see me whenever he gets the chance....just like he was doing when we were dating. And we ready to apply will come here for advice again isA smiley

In your current situation getting a visa will be a tough task, you can't get a visa with help from your daddy or your husband's parents. It will really help if your hubby get a better job, get a place of his own while you register your business and inject money into it so as to have a stronger tie to Nigeria. Your hubby can be visiting you in Nigeria while both of you work things out.
Thank you. It's going to be so difficult for us but it's all good...I hope it's for the best. And yea my Dad trying so hard to see if there is any way he can help. I told him he can't do nothing.lol Will try get a job to keep my mind off things. Seriously getting frustrated with this UK thing and thinking of how to convince him to just come back to Nigeria.

I just realized that your husband's account is guilty of Money Lodgement, therefore, i am of the opinion that you can't get a visa with such.
No there is nothing like that. The only money that goes into his account is his salary which we provided payslips for that.

Thank you. My father in-law is a Doctor and doing very okay. But as u said i think we shud keep him out of it. So now that my husband works full time and earns £1400, and he will have at least £5000 or more in his account when we apply next month, do u think that will be enuff? And again do you think it's worth applying again or? I need ur advice pls.
Here are the issues raised by the ECO
1. On the basis of evidence provided, you appear to have no dependent relatives and little in the way of personal income or assets in your own country.
2. Your spouse’s 31 October – 30 November 2014 bank statement shows periods of low balances and is overdrawn in a number of occasions. It is clear that funds in this account are subject to financial commitments. I am therefore not satisfied that his finances are as comfortable as you state or that funds held in this account are available for the purpose of your proposed visit.
3. In light of all the above I consider that you have failed to show sufficiently strong family, social or economic ties to satisfy me, on the balance of probabilities, that you intend to live the United Kingdom on completion of a short visit. Therefore, on the balance of probabilities, I am not satisfied that you will be maintained and accommodated in the UK without working or having recourse to public funds or are able to meet the cost of return or onward journey.

The two plots of land would be described as properties that stand in isolation, therefore, they do not represent tie.
Your joblessness wouldn't have been a problem had it been that the conditions of your husband's employment and his financial state is satisfying.
You are not required to provide your father in-law's bank statement even if he is accommodating you, yet, it is not a bad idea for your father in-law to get involved, but then, this will discredit your own husband and the application may be subjected to more questions especially if your father in-law is not very financially comfortable.

Hey guys @justwise @Vicjustice . My brother just collected my Documents and it's rejected. I saw it coming though so....Btw my husband is so worried about it and he said we should re - apply. I told him we not going to do that till I get advice from you guys.lol I haven't seen the rejection letter yet but my brother told me they raise issues bout me not having strong ties to Nigeria plus my husbands bank statement plus they think he doesn't earn enough (£700) to take care of me for 5 months while I'm there blah blah. After all he stated in his later that he was doing part time job before but he is now working full time and he earns around£1400. And btw @Vicjustice they didn't say anything that shows they doubt our marriage. Nways now the thing is I have 2 plots of land in my name which was given to me by my dad, and I live in a rented property which was rented for me and in my name for 2 years starting July this year. Do u think that can be a strong tie even though I do not work? And do you think having £5000 pounds in my husbands account will be enuff? And because my husband lives with his parents in London, do you think we should include his dad's bank statement since he is providing accommodation for me while I'm there. And since I do not work, do I have to provide my own bank statement?

Hello nairalanders, I summit my application on 5th of December and on 15th I received a survey mail from UkVI and I also received a mail from tpcontact that UKVI have assessed my application and decision has been made,I ll be contact next few days to pick up my documents at my selected visa application center.

Pls have been nervous because its too fast due to stories have been reading on this nairaland.
I was refuse visa last month and I apply again this month .

Pls guru's tell me faith in this .
I'm nervous too. Submitted on the 4th and nothing till I decided to contact UKVI on the 15th. They said a decision has been made but my documents will take some time before it reaches me cos of administrative blah blah blah. Still waiting but my status hasn't changed on the teleperformance website and no message from them yet. Anyone in such situation?

I'm happy you were but 5months is far too much by any standard. stating 3-4 weeks is safer, its 6 months multiple entry visa if given, so you can always visit as much as you want.
5 months is far more than 90days allowed on one single visit.
Honestly i wish you the very best.
Okay. Thank you.....will let you know what ever insha Allah.

Oh noo!! I wish you did not say that, 5 months? You are basically telling them that you are running away to stay with your hubby because you don't have a lot to do in Nigeria.

Like you correctly pointed out...your application will be judged based on your tie to Nigeria and the ability to afford the trip....at the moment you did not meet the requirement for both.

I totally understand your situation though, i have friends who found themselves in such situation, separated from their families because of UK tight spouse visa policies.

I am really worried myself. It's so unfortunate I only got to know about this thread just after I have submitted my application. I submitted last week Thursday and right now I'm just waiting for feedback. I said 5 months because I didn't want to say 2 or 3 months and then stay more than that. I was just being honest with the whole application thing. I just hope I hear a positive feedback. I got interviewed and I was really honest when answering the questions. It's definitely going to be so difficult for both of us if I don't get it. But hey what can I do....I just pray it turns out well, fingers crossed

Hi @justwise. I'm new on here and this is my 1st post. Been going through this thread n I can see u have been of great help to people, Kudos to u bro. My issue is I got married to a British citizen in early August in Nigeria. Being away from each other immediately after marriage is a bit difficult for us (he had to go back to uk for work) and we haven't reached the requirements for spouse visa so we decided to apply for a visitor visa so I can go have time with him, celebrate his 30th birthday amd new year with him n his family. I do not work but I do small Scale business where I buy and sell fabrics at home. I depend on my husband financially so he is going to be my sponsor. My husband sent me his 2 months payslip as well as his bank statement (unfortunately 1 month). I have mentioned in my application that I intend to apply for a spouse visa when I get back to Nigeria so I wouldn't wanna jeopardise my chances by over staying. I have all the necessary supporting documents including out wedding pictures and the rest but my worries is I dunno if they will give me a visa cos of I don't work plus don't have any family responsibilities which is ties with Nigeria. And then I said I will be there for 5 months....What are my chances pls?
