There're still thousands of us Imolites resident here in the state who know that Uche Nwosu is the best man for the job. We're not e-worriors that engage in unnecessary social media rantings , we engage in grassroots mobilization to pass our message waiting to surprise you garrulous folks on the election day.

IMO needs a virgin politician who will bring about generational change in the polity of the state that's what Uche represents not recycling old and expired politicians cum retired fraudsters like Hope and Arararume.

I know you'll quote me and call me names but if I were you I'd not bother because in don't engage in infantile social media rantings neither do I reply insolent comments.

Abagworo:
Could this be the reason for his actions?
My brother I'm shocked by what that midget of a chairman is doing to us here in IMO.

Owelle made a mistake by supporting that man. He would have supported another convention but mobilized his colleague governors to relect Oyegun while he will oust Izunaso.

Oshiomole's loyalty lies with Tinubu who had a prearrenged pact with him to retire all the powerful governors in the party, to make way for his 2023 presidential ambition without much opposition.

But I believe Uche will still reclaim his mandate through judicial process. It will only take a little time.

Oshiomole is a hypocritical, sanctimonious and pretencious corrupt politician, hiding under the guise of phantom and non existent cloak of integrity to manoeuvre his way to the top.But I'm happy people eventually are seeing him as the rogue he is.

Owelle will surely laugh last because that Benin midget whose sole aim of becoming the chairman is to do the bidding of his paymaster (Tinubu) while amassing more wealth from desperate aspirants to enrich his pocket more even after looting Edo treasury dry thereby throwing the poor state into a pitiable state of indebtedness is too small to truncate his political trajectory. He has won tougher battles than this in his political escapedes.

Let's watch keenly as events unfold.

Politics / Apga Is A Ponzi Scheme - Ohakim. by cascarino(m): 6:11pm On Oct 31, 2018
By Chidi Nkwopara, OWERRI.
Former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, has said that “the travesty in All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has shown that what APGA leadership was doing all along, was a ponzi scheme, a scam of the highest order, to defraud fellow Igbo men and women, of their hard earned money”.

Ohakim, who made the allegation while reacting to a press statement authored by the APGA National Youth Leader, wondered why the National Chairman of the party, Victor Ike Oye, authorized such “junk and bucket of lies” against his person to be released to the Nigerian public.

“While we do not want to continually engage in a matter of yesteryears that is totally false, Mr Victor Oye and his cohorts, should know that talking about Ohakim beating a Reverend Father has become an over-used cliché, and nobody takes such people serious”, Ohakim said.
On the vexed issue of the party’s gubernatorial primary, Chief Ohakim said that no such thing took place in Imo State, adding that a court of competent jurisdiction was handling the matter.

“If the governorship primary election held, why would 14 governorship aspirants out of 15, go to court against the party, over this matter. Or, can anyone contest election against himself? Nigerians should sustain no fears because we are well armed with evidences”, Ohakim said.

He recalled how the party set up a committee of prominent Igbo sons, including a serving Commissioner in Willie Obiano’s administration, to woo him to the party.

“We met for a period of eight months and I was given all assurances of a free and fair primary, yet I was denied the opportunity to contest ordinary primary election. It baffles me, therefore, that the National Chairman of APGA could be talking about Ohakim not having capacity and beating a Reverend Father, when he knows that it is not true”, Ohakim said.

While saying that it was rather disturbing that even in Anambra State, no prominent contestant got the party’s ticket, Chief Ohakim also said that Ndigbo and Nigerians in general want to know what offence Chief Ifeanyi Ubah committed that made the party deny him the waiver to run for election but granted waiver to Ifeanyi Araraume, who joined the party only one week to the primary election, if the party was not a ponzi scheme.

“What of the wife of the revered Igbo leader, late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Ambassador Lady Bianca Ojukwu? What offence did she commit that made them deny her the ticket of the party, after they had lured her to run for the election when she did not want to, if the party was not a fraud cartel? She was simply used to raise the stake”, Ohakim said.

Continuing, the former Governor said: “APGA, which had less than N5 million in its account before the primaries, now hires private jet for the use of the National Chairman. Now, the party that was begging yesterday can now afford to abuse everybody.

“People know that Governor Obiano may be the last governor of the party, and in 2019, not only will the party lose massively in Anambra State, it will lose massively in Imo State also and everywhere else in Igboland because the party has killed its Igbo nationalism and idealism”, Ohakim fumed.

Politics / Imo Apc: Court Refuses To Substitute Nwosu's Name. by cascarino(m): 9:18am On Oct 18, 2018
A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Bwari, Abuja has consolidated two suits filed by Mr. Uche Nwosu and Senator Hope Uzodinma in the dispute arising from the Imo State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship election primary.

It declined to substitute Nwosu’s name as pleaded by Uzodinma.

Nwozu won the primary conducted by APC-approved panel while Uzodinma was proclaimed winner of the primary conducted by a faction.

Justice Othman Musa adjourned to October 23 for the APC and INEC to show cause why the reliefs sought by Uzodinma in a motion ex-parte, which the court heard on October 9, but declined to grant, should not be granted.

The reliefs include an order directing the APC to forward his name (Uzodimma) to INEC as the party’s governorship candidate for Imo State, and an order restraining INEC from continuing to process or publish any other person’s name, except the name of Uzodimma, as Imo State governorship candidate of the APC in the 2019 election.

The judge also directed that parties in the suit should amend their documents to reflect the names of those make parties yesterday. He also directed that all necessary documents should be filed before the next date.

In his suit, Nwosu sought to compel APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accept him as the party’s governorship candidate while Uzodinman is seeking a similar request in his suit.

The consolidation, Nwosu’s lawyer, Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN) said, was directed by the Chief Judge of the FCT High Court, Justice Ishaq Bello, upon the request by his (Ogunwumiju’s) client to avoid conflicting judgments, because the cases are on the same issue. Ogunwumiju said his client;s case was earlier before Justice Valentine Ashi before Justice Bello’s directive.

Justice Musa, after consolidating both suits, also granted Nwosu’s application to be made a party in the suit by Uzodinma. Adeniyi Akintola (SAN) argued the application for Nwosu, which wwas not opposed by Uzodinma’s lawyer, Joe Agi (SAN).

Justice Musa also granted another application filed by Okere Uzochukwu and Alozie Okechukwu (for themselves and on behalf of APC members, who voted for Owerri zone candidates at the APC’s governorship election conducted by the Alhaji Ahmed Gulak-led panel).

Lawyer to Uzochukwu and Okechukwu, Mr. Okere Nnamdi, while arguing the application, said his clients were necessary parties to the case because its outcome would affect them.

He said his client’s grouse was that APC’s decision to select its governorship candidate from the same Orlu zone, where Governor Okorocha comes from, violates the constitutional provisions of section 14(4) and 224, which direct that political parties must conduct their affairs to reflect equity and fairness among all.

The judge however rejected the application by and Chitex Ventures limited and Chima Akuzie, whose lawyer, Oluwatosin Ojaomo told the court that Uzodinma was indebted to his clients to the tune of N200million.

Ojaomo, who noted that there was a subsisting arrest warrant issued by an Abuja court against Uzodinma, said he (Uzodinma) was planning to use the N200m owed his clients to contest the forthcoming governorship election/

The lawyer added that a criminal matter had been instituted against Uzodinma for allegedly issuing a dud cheque of N200m to his clients.

The proceedings were held up for about one hour owning to a major disagreement between Akintola and Agi.

At a point, both lawyers were standing and speaking at the same time, thereby occasioning rowdy proceedings.

The hot exchange between the lawyers lasted for some minuites and created a rowdy atmosphere, in the midst of which the judge stood up and went into his chambers.

Other senior lawyers in court, including Damian Dodo, Kenneth Njemanze and Ogunwumiju (all SANs) later intervened and appealed to the feuding lawyers to allow peace to reign.

After successfully reconciling both warring lawyers, the senior lawyers, seven in all, later went to apologise to the judge in his chambers.

When proceedings resumed about one hour later, Dodo apologised to the judge in the open court.

Dodo said: “My Lord, I apologise for the incident that led to the abrupt rising of the court. I undertake that we will not to allow this to happen again.”

The judge accepted the apology and proceeded with the court's business.

Are you clearly telling me that if they keep, SALAH and MESSI, you will judiciously go for SALAH...
That’s if you are asked to BUY one of these 2 players...
Did you read my comment before quoting me? My last paragraph answered this question you just asked.

Messi is miles ahead of Salah in football. But going by their performances in the season under review ( i.e 2017/2018) Salah's performance dwarfed that of Messi.

Pls, try to read and understand comments before quoting because I don't have strength to engage in arguments this morning.

EVILFOREST:

Please ask him what SALAH has lifted so far...??
Ask him the trophy SALAH has carried,,,??
Some people type entirely with their fingers, forgetting it should synchronize with their upper centres
Oga, the award is not about who lifted the most trophy. Its mostly an award given based on individual performance (brilliance).if it's all about trophy then it should be given to Rafael Varane of France and Real Madrid who lifted both the World Cup and Champions League, the two biggest trophies in football.

Going by that Salah performed better than Messi last season. Salah scored a record 32 epl goals last season - which is unheard of since the inception of the premier league. Even the almighty CR7 could not do that during his premier league days despite taking more penalties than Salah.

On the other hand Messi scored 34 LA liga goals last season - which is not unusual considering the fact that the likes of Suarez, CR7, and even Messi himself have all scored above 40 LA Liga goals in recent seasons. But it's still quite impressive.

Coming to Champions League Salah netted 10 and took his team to the finals while Messi scored a paltry 6 and he was eliminated in the quarter finals along with his team. So, Salah performed better than Messi in the Champions League league last season.

Even the match against AS Roma last season clearly differentiated the duo. While Messi was totally anonymous in both legs as Roma humiliated Barcelona, Salah rose up to the occasion and scored two beautiful goals and provided a further two assists to take his team to the final last season.

While Salah is definitely not yet on the same level with Messi, his performance last season eclipsed that of the diminutive Argantian and as such his place in the FIFA best three is very much justified and well deserved QED.

Politics / Meet The Beautiful Children Of Rochas Okorocha! by cascarino(m): 5:14pm On Sep 21, 2018
Governor Rochas Okorocha has given his state and country many great things during his service. However, one of his greatest gifts to the world is arguably his kids. Today, we are going to tell you about Rochas Okorocha children. Who are they? What do they do? Let’s find out together. We are certain that you will find something new about each of them from this post.

Rochas Okorocha children
As Mr. Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha is quite a well-known individual, we will not bore you with the details from his biography and cut straight to the chase. Without further ado, here is all we know about his children.

Governor Okorocha daughters
Rochas Okorocha daughters
Owelle Rochas Okorocha is a very lucky man, as he is the proud father of three wonderful, smart and stunning daughters. Continue reading to find out more about them.

Uloma Rochas Nwosu
Okorocha’s eldest daughter (and the eldest child in the family) is a highly educated enterprising young woman. She has three degrees: one is in Associate Clinical Psychology from the Everest College Dallas, another is in Clinical Psychology from University of Texas, and the third is in Business Administration from the University of Abuja.

In August 2017, Uloma launched her own project called Elfreeda Foundation to offer help for homeless people. Apart from that, she is also the CEO of the House of Freeda (a shopping centre) and Director General at the Rochas Foundation, a non-profit organisation created by her father to help vulnerable people and children in need. You can follow her on Instagram @ulomarochas to find out more about her endeavours.

In January of 2013, Uloma married Uche Nwosu, Rochas Okorocha’s Lands Commissioner. They had a church wedding at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Owerri and a traditional wedding in Ogboko. By the end of the year, on December 21, 2013 to be exact, she gave birth to adorable baby twins named Russell and Ryan at a hospital in Texas.

Uju Okorocha
Unlike her sister, Uju seems to lead a much quieter life. She barely uses her social media (Instagram @urochanwuks), and it is hard to find anything useful about her. That said, we do know that she is the Director of the Reach Out and Touch Program, a subsidiary of her father’s foundation.

She also appeared in the news not that long ago because of her scandalous appointment to the Federal College of Education board. Her father was not informed about this appointment, which was why he (and apparently the rest of the family) rejected it. Rochas Okorocha claimed that his daughter did not need it.

Apart from all that, Uju is a married woman. In October of 2014, she married the son of Professor Anthony Anwuka, Dr. Uzoma Anwuka. They had a traditional ceremony on October 9 in Ogboko and a proper wedding on October 11 at the Saint Joseph Catholic Chaplaincy in Owerri. In October, 2015, she gave birth to a lovely boy named Jidenna Anthony, which meant that Rochas Okorocha became a grandpa for the third time.

Uchechi Rochas Okorocha
We have finally got to the youngest daughter in the Okorocha family, and, to be honest, she made herself extra hard to find, as she mostly goes by Ucy. Nevertheless, we were able to find out that she studied Social Policy and Law at the University of York, as well as International Relations and Law at the Southern Methodist University.

Ucy is on the Board of Directors of Rochas Foundation and the Director General of the Rochas Foundation College of Africa (another subsidiary of Rochas Foundation). Her LinkedIn profile also states that she is the Director of Lamonde UK Ltd. and Managing Director of Peek a Boo Stores.

Despite being quite the catch, she is still not married and does not have any children. However, it seems like all of her love goes to her little nephews, whom she adores, by the looks of it. You can find lots of pictures and videos with them on her Instagram (@ucyr).

While we have told you all we know about the daughters of Rochas Okorocha, we still have the sons to talk about, so stick around, if you want to learn more about them.

Gov. Okorocha sons
Rochas Okorocha sons
As they say, good things come in threes, as, in addition to having three daughters, Mr. Okorocha also has three sons! As they are younger than their sisters and (to our knowledge) also unmarried, there is much less to say about the Okorocha brothers. Nevertheless, let’s get to know them a little bit closer.

Ahamefula Brendan Rochas
The eldest Okorocha son is a University of Manchester graduate. He received a first-class degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2015. Aham is an entrepreneur; he runs Aham Rochas Group and ARO Foundation (subsidiary of Rochas Foundation). Find him on Instagram @ahamrochas.

Unfortunately, Ahamefula had to spend this New Year’s Eve at the hospital. During Christmas, he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Thankfully, he is all well now, but he gave his family and friends quite a scare!

Amen Amarachi Rochas
Second son of Rochas Okorocha has recently graduated from university. Last year, he received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, United States. Previously, he attended Lead British International School in Abuja, Nigeria.

Along with the rest of his family, Amen is involved in the work of Rochas Foundation, where he is the Director of Internal & External Resources. He has an Instagram account (@amen.r), but he rarely uses it.

Amamchi Rochas
Very little is known about the youngest Rochas Okorocha son. We were able to find out that he attended Baptist High School in Jos and Richland High School. During his high school years, the young man played football. If his private Instagram account (@amam_r) is anything to be believed, Amam is currently attending Samford University.

The Okorocha siblings provide a wonderful example that money does not always corrupt young minds. Sometimes, it enables them to do great things for the good of others. We tip our hats to you and your wife, sir, for raising such great children, and may your grandchildren be just as great!

And btw: Anambra people aren't the only people's that dislike Rochas Awusa. That worthless sellout bastard in no way represent Igbo and he can go to hell for all we care.
Talk for yourself. Rochas remains the most popular politician in Imo state inspite of all the hate campaign against him. If Imo about the only homogeneous Igbo State of up to five million people are OK with him how then did you come to the conclusion that no Igboman supports him?

Weather you like it or not he is still the most popular Igbo politician alive and one with the brightest chance of clinching the presidency - and he will achieve that at the fullness of time. Maybe you're one of the people I prophesied that will die of heart attack.

I was telling somebody the other day that hating on Rochas is like someone hating on Cristiano Ronaldo - the more you hate them the more they excel in life and break new grounds. People like that all you can do in life is to like them or at least pretend to be indifferent about their existence because they're specially gifted and will always prosper.

P. S : Don't buy into that narrative that nobody likes Rochas anymore because that's fallacious. Those of you outside Imo state always believe and act that way but reverse is the case in reality. This was what played out at one sky bank branch here in Imo state last week when one boy started making fun of the governor with unfounded accusations the whole people lining up in the atm shunned him at once that he felt embarrassed

I was the only one there that stood by him. He told me that he thought the man is unpopular down here that where he's resident at Abuja it is a routine for people to make mockery of him. It was there that he found out first hand that most of the people in the state still support Rochas despite all the online and offline criticisms targeted at him by haters - this is why he still wins any election that's conducted in the state.

My brother these people's feelings of insecurity are astounding! They've even made me regret opening this thread.

Do you know this is exactly why I pray Rochas succeeds in becoming the president of this country one day? Observe keenly who his haters and critics are you will realize it's this same people that are having complex problems.

An average Imolite is not mad at Rochas even though there are some of his policies we may not like. But the people that have made it a point of duty to always criticize him even when he's right are these same hate filled creatures.

They're all doing this because they've seen that he's a star and he's the Igbo man with the brightest chance of becoming Nigeria's president. So, they all connived to pull him down by portraying him in bad light to make him appear to outsiders and unsuspecting citizens as the worst leader there's in Nigeria, which you and I know is not the case.

That's why I'm mad at Imolites that join them in that unholy crusade. We claim to be the most learned people in Nigeria but some of us have failed to decipher their game plan.

They're the main people that Rochas talks about when he says that there exists a conspiracy by some Igbos to pull him down. That's why I've made the decision never to criticize Rochas again in any social media forum. Some of them will die of heart attack if he succeeds in ascending to the Presidency one day.

Chinedu Echeruo is a young Igbo entrepreneur of Imo State origin who developed and sold hopsport.com to apple for a billion dollars, thus becoming a dollar billionaire in the process. He also sold another of his technological inventions tripology.com for millions of dollars. You can read more about him in the link above.

So, saying that nobody in Imo State is worth more than $500m is a huge insult to the state.

Pascal Dozie is the founder and biggest shareholder of Diamond bank plc, until recently he was the chairman of mtn Nig. He is the chairman of African Capital Alliance the parent company of protea hotel and other real estate establishments. He is arguably the richest Igboman alive.

Nobody stops you from bragging with and promoting your state but dear you don't have to run others down while you're at it - at that point it turns to inferiority complex.

If you're indifferent about this thread all you can do is to ignore it. Again if you feel challenged about it all you should do is to open a thread about your own state and try to promote it in your own little way. And not to start making disparaging remarks about it thereby insulting the good people of the state.

I hope you will have the wisdom to comprehend what I just wrote without trying to drag me low to the level of throwing tantrums and making insolent remarks.

Rochas okorocha is just comfortable, he's never a millionaire, not at all. Rochas has no known business you can mention of, that's why you couldn't mentioned any.
Owning a foundation doesn't mean you're rich, he used that foundation to dupe oyinbo people of their cash in the name of helping its people. If you know, you know
I know Rochas more than you. He made his first one million dollars in 1986 at the age of about 27. His real fortune came through real estate. He has lots of landed properties in Jos, Kano, and Owerri. Till date he is still the number one real estate owner at Abuja. Do you know that he's the one that leased Wadata house out to PDP? He is the richest Nigerian Governor today.

You might not like Rochas as a politician but the fact remains that he's aguably the the richest Igboman alive.

Okorocha commends Oyegun for cancelling Imo APC LG congresses
vanguardngr.com May 12, 2018 12:57 PM
The Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has commended the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun for cancelling the conduct of the Local Government Congresses of the Party in the State, which should have, under normal scenario, taken place today.

Odigie-Oyegun, on Friday confirmed the postponement of the today’s Imo local government congress just as the state secretariat of the APC was set ablaze by unknown persons.

Speaking on the postponement Odigie-Oyegun said: ‘Yes, the party has shifted the Local Government Congress in Imo pending the report of the Appeal Committee’

According to Sam Onwuemeodo, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, in a statement he signed on Saturday said that ‘the best option, considering the fact that the APC Ward Congresses have not been held in the State because the queer-characters in the so-called coalition made away with the Sensitive materials meant for the Venture.’

Also, he said that the moment they got the hint of the possible postponement of the Local Government Congresses, they deployed their thugs to go and set the party’s state secretariat ablaze, under the heavy rain that had fallen in Owerri on Friday, May 11, 2018 evening.

He also said that ‘it is also necessary to point out that all those in the sick coalition in the state are electoral liabilities. They are all serial election losers. Chief Ifeanyi Araraume had run for governorship in 2007, 2011, and 2015 and failed in all. Infact, he never won even in his Isiala Mbano LGA, in all the elections.’

‘Chief Okay Ikoro has never crossed the level of Party Primaries. TOE Ekechi had contested election four times and in all, he lost his deposits. Hope Uzodinma defeated Osita Izunaso for Orlu Senatorial Seat. Eze Madumere has not won election even as a councillor until Rochas took him. Ben Uwajumogu was just made Senator by Governor Rochas Okorocha.’

‘Their target is to destroy APC but they must be resisted by owners of the Party in the State. They are food-is-ready Politicians. Otherwise, why won’t they look for a virgin Party and file behind one of them as Candidate and let us see how far they can go.

‘If they were popular, why did they avoid coming to the field for the Ward Congresses, but decided to run away with the Sensitive materials for the exercise.

‘The fact remains that they must not be allowed to destroy APC like they did almost all the other Parties in the State ‘ the statement said'

Did you read my take well?

Rochas Okorocha is not from Orlu per se. His Ogboko community is in Ideato South, in Orlu zone. A hill separates Ogboko from Orlu.
Ancient inter communal disagreements crowd the minds of Rochas Okorocha when it concerns his Ogboko and Orlu.

Ironically, nearly 1/4 of the population of Orlu urban lga are people from his Ogboko and rest of Ideato.

Most of them can't afford to rent a room in Owerri

What an insult!
It will take Orlu more than five decades to meet up with Ideato nation when it comes to politics and business even education assuming Ideato remains static.

I've been observing how you're busy derailing this beautiful thread with all sorts of unprintable words and unpleasant pictures because of your disdain for the incumbent government.

You've been making so many disparaging remarks about the person of the governor of Imo state because of sheer resentment. That doesn't bother me but what I will not tolerate is dragging the peace loving people of Ideato into this your madness.

Rochas built roads at Owerri you criticize. He built a university and hotel at Idea to you're not happy. He is building a mini stadium at Okigwe you still are complaining.

To you every development in the state and the money for capital projects should be concentrated at Orlu. Only then will the government be considered to be a success by your own standard.

Talk about clannishness!

Travel / Exploring The Tourism Potentials Of South Eastern Nigeria by cascarino(m): 3:46pm On Apr 02, 2018
visit to the South East could not have been so comprehensive than to traverse the entire breadth of the sub-region – Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States. A rare peek into the region’s travel and tourism potentials revealed the numerous treasures that are locked up within. Courtesy of the South East zone of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), the trip offered the opportunity on how best to communicate South East’s innate tourism potentials. Omolola Itayemi writes
One could not have made it to all the locations in a short three days if not for the availability of the services of ABC Transport. As we moved from city to city, state to state, one thing was clear: South East Travel and Tourism is ready to take off under the s tewardship of Ngozi Ngoka, VP FTAN, South East.
Enugu, town of the red earth
Enugu was home to Nigeria’s first coalmines, which were built in 1908, one of Nigeria’s major exports at the time. The British developed the city to their own immediate requirement. Development of Enugu, which means ‘town on a hill’, literally started from the top of the hills where the coalmines were built. To access the colliery, from the main town, one had to go from the base, up the Milliken hill, through a windy twisting road that is celebrating its centennial this year. It has been said that many a too-fast driver had overshot the road down the steep slopes that flank one side of the road. The wonder though is that vestiges of this road built exactly 100 years ago by Engineer Milliken still remain in the main. The construction of the road is an evidence of sheer genius that was deployed at the time. At the valley below is the Iva valley camp, named after the main contractor who supplied labour for the mines.
You can’t miss the predominant red earth of Enugu. It has been there for thousands of years and will be there for years to come.
The demystification of the shrines
If you are accessing the Milliken hill directly from the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, you will go through Abakpa, which was the colloquial name for an Army settlement. The barracks of the 82nd Division of the Nigerian Army is, indeed, located along the route, but not before one has driven past the installations of the Nigerian Air Force. In any case, any tourist into Enugu must stop over at the Museum of National Unity, a fairly, well-kept repository of our national history.
Nature’s best kept secrets
Beyond the Milliken Hill, further into Enugu State towards Udi, is the Ogba Cave, which during wars, including the civil war, served as refuge for fleeing country dwellers. A grove of almond and melon trees houses the cave. The entrance to the cave is uneven but accessible and even motorable up to a particular point where one is forced to alight and approach by foot. The trees in the grove harbour chirping birds and lend to the supernatural ambience that surrounds the cave. To enter the cave, one must take of his shoes altogether and descend a slippery slope into the mouth of the cave. The cave is made of the silica rock and has been said to be so from the beginning of time. A stream leads from the cave and serves as a source of potable water for the community. This stream leads to the Ogbakaba waterfall, which is one of nature’s best-kept secrets.
Cascading waters pound the rocks and give up a continuous, thunderous roar. Simple walkways, though fragile, have been built to skirt the waterfalls to help interested sightseers go from one end of the waterfall to the other.
And how best to end the day, than to settle into a bowl of abacha (cassava flakes), ugba (stripped locust beans) and bush meat or roasted chicken washed down with frothing sweet palm wine.
Owerri, the centre of ‘enjoyment’
Owerri is known as the centre of Igbo Catholicism but today, it can be called the centre of “enjoyment.” It is home to over 300 new 2-star, 3-star hotels, over 20,000 hotel rooms, built within a span of 10 years.
Why is there this new flourish of hospitality at Owerri? What most of the tourism operators at Owerri say is that Owerri is a major travel hub in the South-east. Most road travellers from Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and even Rivers State traverse Owerri to get to their ultimate destinations. Then, Owerri boasts of the Sam Mbakwe Airport which makes it easier to connect to Lagos and Abuja. Then, in terms of business, the South East is a major pull for business such that thousands of business transactions are enacted daily resulting in the flurry of overnight stays at the city’s hotels.
Dr. Etofolam Osuji, Chairman/CEO, Maranatha Suites, a retired public accountant, boasts his hotel records a 50+% average occupancy rate. The same can be said of Emmanuel Nwachuckwu, General Manager of Villa Garden Hotel, Owerri, who says the hotel records up to 90% occupancy at peak seasons.
Full Moon Hotel boasts 69 rooms and an average occupancy rate of 43%. Full Moon Hotel boasts a whole range of facilities and services from swimming pool to conference facilities and has regular buffet. The hotels all try to outdo themselves in providing leisure and hospitality services for inbound travellers.
It is whispered though that the underlying allure for most inbound travellers to Owerri are the fair ones from the five higher educational institutions domiciled in the state.
The myth of the Ogbunike
Anambra is home to great towns including Awka, Onitsha, Obosi, Ogbunike, Oko and Nkpor. Its residents all try to outdo themselves in showing hospitality to visitors. And when they do, it’s the full complement of food, drinks and board.
The Igwe of Ogbunike, himself, Igwe Osita Umenyiora, personified this show of hospitality as he received us at his palace. Mere mortals, though we were, he welcomed us with the kolanuts, garden eggs, food and drinks, highly elaborate, especially at the short notice of our coming.
Our main interest was the Ogbunike cave and waterfall. And our main tourist guide was the Igwe himself! He took pains to tell us about the cave and the descent to it – 312 steps! No mean feat for the faint-hearted. He was spot on in this description for the going down and coming up is a real cardio-vascular workout. Drops of water trickle from the roof. We are told that during the rainy season, it stops. Obviously, this phenomenon is something for scientists to clear up. Like the Ogba cave near Enugu, the Ogbunike cave was haven for the many who fled to it in times of strife.
The entrance to the cave is a large opening. The Igwe tells that his Palace throne room was designed to simulate the cave opening. Inside the cave are many chambers and they can be located on many levels.
Even though the Igwe assures us that there are no real spiritual linkages one could draw to the cave, it is reported that many religious persons including pastors and priests go into cave and take sanctuary as they fast and commune with God.
The Igwe’s throne room is worth mentioning. The stuffing of wild animals like the bear and the tiger adorn the approach to the throne. Other objects add to give the throne room a stately appearance and leave the visitor gasping in wonder.
War, never again
While the articles at the Enugu museum of National Unity fill one with a nostalgic feeling for the ancient times, the stories and relics at the National War Museum at Umuahia, fill one with abhorrence for war. Objects of war like guns, aircraft, the famous Ogbunigwe (Biafran bomb), tanks, personnel carriers and watercraft are on display at the museum. Also on display are the old transmitters of the defunct Radio Biafra which operated from a bunker located below the outpost of the Biafran which is now the museum.
From the outpost, a trench was dug all the way to the last command headquarters of the then Supreme Commander of Biafra, ‘General’ Odumegwu Ojukwu, where a bunker was also built (Ojukwu bunker) and from where Biafran strategy was cultivated. The civil and structural engineering of the bunker is elaborate.
Nevertheless, it is not the objects of war that fill one with revulsion of war; it is the sheer waste of genius and talent for a cause, which, unfortunately, has come to nothing, that fills one with such regret. That such an opportunity for such gratuitous contribution of aptitude to a national cause has now given way to a somewhat certain hopelessness, which may not be re-enacted for many years to come.
Never again, should there be such a war. War is simply not good.
Like joke, the statues make sense
Is it possible to leave the South East without paying homage to the statues? Certainly not! The Owerri statues have caused many tongues to wag especially as people wonder the function of statues in these lean times. But when you get to Owerri, you don’t want to miss them. Every tourist makes a beeline for the statues, which are mounted in the Owerri Recreational Park, which also has man-made caves and other recreational pieces. The brainchild of the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, the statues are those of outstanding men and women of African descent from Africa and diaspora. They include the Rt. Honourable, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Owelle of Onitsha, and Martin Luther King. Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and Nelson Mandela also have mounts here as well Mrs. Ellen Sirleaf-Johnson and Mr. Jacob Zuma. Nana Akufo Addo is also here. It is a great effort and it will pull in a lot of people to Owerri.
The normal early morning greeting is, “I boo la chi? (Have you woken up?)” But today’s Owerri greeting is, “Awoo la chi? (Have you been moulded?)” It is because there are two empty mounts. Who would occupy those mounts? Could it be you?

Politics / Proscription Of IPOB And Torture Of It's Members Illegal - ACHPR. by cascarino(m): 2:36am On Mar 13, 2018
The African Commission on Human and People’s Rights (ACHPR) has stated that the declaration of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist group, the attacks by Federal Government agencies on its members constitute a prima facie violation of the African Charter. The position of the commission, based in Banjul, The Gambia, was contained in a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari. Dated March 8 and signed by Soyata Maiga, ACHPR Chairperson, the letter was a response to the request from IPOB’s lawyers, Adulbert Legal Services, in favor of Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the group, and its members all over the world.
In a letter signed by Mr. Aloy Ejimakor, for Adulbert Legal Services, the lawyers had requested ACHPR to invoke its Rule 98 (i) to grant provisional measures calling on the Nigerian government not to take any further actions inimical to Mr. Kanu and IPOB members pending ACHPR’s decision on the matter brought by IPOB.
Conveying the commission’s decision to President Buhari, the ACHPR Chairperson wrote: “I would like to draw Your Excellency’s kind attention that at its 37th Ordinary Session held from 21 November to 5 December 2005 in Banjul, The Gambia, the Commission adopted Resolution 88 on the Protection of Human Rights and the Rule of Law in the Fight against Terrorism in Africa, which calls on African States to ensure that the measures taken to combat terrorism fully comply with their obligations under the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights and other international human rights treaties, including the right to life, the prohibition of arbitrary arrests and detention, the right to a fair hearing, the prohibition of torture and other cruel, inhuman and degrading penalties and treatment and the right to seek asylum.”
The ACHPR stated that if the allegations made by Mr. Kanu and IPOB through their lawyers are true, they would amount to a great cause for concern, as they would constitute gross violation of the provisions of the African Charter, particularly of Articles 2,3,4,5,6,7, 9,10,11,12,14,19, 20 as other regional and international human rights laws and standards.
“In view of the above, the Commission respectfully requests Your Excellency to intervene in the matter and ensure that the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria adopts Provisional Measures: Not to take any further action so as to avoid irreparable damage to the victim (Mr. Kanu), IPOB and its members, pending the decision of the commission on this communication,” wrote the commission’s Chairperson.
The ACHPR also requested the Federal Government to report back on the implementation of the provisional measures granted within 15 days of receipt of the letter, in accordance with Rule 98(4) of its Rules of Procedure.
“I would like to inform Your Excellency that as part of my responsibility, I am required to report to each Ordinary Session of the Commission on the actions that I have taken in my capacity as the Chairperson and as a member of the Commission. In that regard, the content of this letter as well as any response received from Your Excellency will be included in my report to the 62nd Ordinary Session of the Commission from 25 April to 9 May 2018, in Nouakchott, the Islamic Republic of Mauritania as well as, in my Activity Report to the African Union Policy Organs,” the Chairperson told President Buhari.
Lawyers to Mr. Kanu and IPOB, according to documents exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, filed complaints at the ACHPR on 14 December 2017 through Adulbert Legal Services.
According to the statement of complaints, the legal firm stated that on 14 October 2015, the IPOB leader was arrested in Lagos, a few days after he arrived from the United Kingdom, and was charged with offences related to his broadcasts on the London-based radio Biafra and agitation for a referendum on the creation of a separate state of Biafra from Nigeria.
The lawyers averred that during Mr. Kanu’s pre-trial detention, he was granted bail many times by the Federal High Court, but the Federal Government disregarded the court orders and continued to detain him. After 18 months in detention, said the lawyers, Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court granted the IPOB leader bail. On his release on bail, he returned to his hometown of Afara-Ukwu in Umuahia, capital of Abia State, where he awaited the date for his next court appearance slated for October 17, 2017
The lawyers maintained that since his release from detention, no new charges have been filed against him and the court has not ordered his arrest. Yet, they stated, between 12 September and 15 September 2017, the Federal Government ordered soldiers of the Nigerian Army to surround his home in Afara-Ukwu, where they launched a series of attacks, using live ammunition.
The lawyers complained that Mr. Kanu, his parents, siblings, children, women, elderly people and many visitors to the home were trapped in the premises for the two days the attacks lasted. The attacks, they further averred, led to many deaths, injuries and extensive damage to his home. Also, they told the ACHPR that soldiers arrested many other people and took them to destinations unknown.
Those arrested, alleged the lawyers, have not been heard from by their families and friends, while the Nigerian Army has failed to disclose if Mr. Kanu himself was killed, wounded or taken into custody. The Army, they further told the ACHPR, published a statement, declaring IPOB a terrorist organization as a justification for the inappropriate use of the lethal force against Mr. Kanu and IPOB members as well as unlawfully subjecting Abia State and other states in the South-East to military occupation, through Operation Python Dance 11, since 10 September, 2017.
In their capacity as legal representatives to Mr. Kanu and IPOB, they wrote separate petitions to the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami, and Senate President, Mr. Bukola Saraki, in protest against the military occupation and attacks on Mr. Kanu and IPOB members as well as the “unconstitutional and dangerous declaration of IPOB as a terrorist organization”.
They noted that the Senate President publicly declared that it is unconstitutional for the Nigerian Army to declare IPOB a terrorist organization.
The lawyers found it curious that on 21 September 2017, Justice Abdul Kararati of the Federal High Court made an ex parte order (without prior notice to IPOB), declaring IPOB a terrorist organization and ordering its proscription on account of an ex parte application (without notice) brought before the court on 20 September 2017 by the Attorney-General of the Federation.
This, contended the lawyers, was in contravention of a previous and subsisting final order declaring that IPOB is not a terrorist organization and that its members have not in any way breached Nigeria’s Terrorism Prevention Act.
In addition, they claimed that the Attorney General of the Federation took formal and executory steps to gazette IPOB as a terrorist organization.
“These steps include declaring as criminals/ terrorists the millions of IPOB members worldwide, declaring as criminal/ terrorist the leader of IPOB, interdiction and confiscation of monies, bank accounts and property of IPOB, its members and its leader; the impending prosecution of millions of IPOB members in Nigeria, that IPOB is an unlawful society and the inability of IPOB members to participate in civic and political affairs, stigmatization of millions of IPOB members worldwide, wholesome defamation of IPOB members as terrorists worldwide and other negative impacts yet to be determined,” said the legal firm.
It maintained that IPOB is a non-violent group that operates in the open and in accordance with the law as well as being universally respected in many countries of the world where it is registered as a lawful organization. It equally maintained that Mr. Kanu is non-violent and was never convicted of any crime in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, where he has variously resided since attaining adulthood, prior to his trial in Nigeria. The law firm stated that some members of the international community, most prominently, the United States and the United Kingdom publicly rejected the court order designating IPOB a terrorist organization.
It told the ACHPR that the designation of IPOB as a terrorist group by the Nigerian government is discriminatory because there are other non-Igbo organizations in Nigeria, with some violent and others not, which have been agitating for members of their ethnic groups, and have not been declared as terrorist organizations.
“These organizations include the Arewa Youths (mainly Hausa/ Fulani ethnic stock), the Odua People’s Congress (mainly of Yoruba ethnic stock), Miyeti Allah or Fulani herdsmen (mainly of Fulani ethnic stock), Niger Delta Avengers (mainly Ijaw ethnic stock),” said the lawyers.
The designation of IPOB as a terrorist organization, said the law firm, has emboldened the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to harass, intimidate, arrest or even kill or torture IPOB members and any member of the Igbo ethnic group suspected to be an IPOB member. The legal representatives submitted that Mr. Kanu if he is alive and well, is at the risk of killed on sight by the Nigerian Army or other security agencies, which still have checkpoints in Afara-Ukwu, and all the five states of the South-East.
They further stated that millions of IPOB members outside Nigeria run the risk of being harassed, intimidated, interdicted, arrested or even killed as terrorists if the return to Nigeria upon their return to Nigeria. According to the lawyers, money, bank accounts, other monetary instruments, chattels and real properties belonging to Mr. Kanu IPOB and its members are at the risk of being confiscated by the Federal Government.
Based on the allegedly wrong characterization of IPOB, the law firm told ACHPR that its members in or outside Nigeria need protection so that no further action should be carried out by the Nigerian Government to cause damage to them. It alleged that the Nigerian government has violated Articles 2, 3,4,5,6,7,9,10 11,12, 14, 19 and 20 of the African Charter.
It, therefore, requested the ACHPR to invoke its powers under Rule 98 of its Rules of Procedure and urge the Federal Government not to take any further step against IPOB until the commission decides the case. In another request for a provisional measure, the law firm urged ACHPR to adopt other urgent measures necessary to case to protect Mr. Kanu and IPOB.

If they refuse to appear in the US court, will the US judge order their arrest in Nigeria?
That will be contempt of court. The US will assume they're guilty and will confiscate all their properties and cash in the States.

The assets will be converted to cash and proceeds will be used to compensate the victims and their families.

They will also be banned from stepping their feet in America. IPOB will then use the verdict as a precedence when they get to the ICC.

You have read the man's profile and seen that he has spent all his life and education in the North but in your attempt at achievement by proxy and vicarious living,
you are shouting Igbo this, Imo that.

That man is more Northerner than Igbo. In a more serious country, his state of origin would be in the North since he practically spent all his life there.

With all that said, I must state categorically that you are an idiot for resorting to insults without provocation on my part. May a Dangote truck make a mince meal out of your retarded brain and may crankshaft oil and cement pour into your rotten corpse as you exit the world and make it a better place with your absence. Your inability to reason and moronic behavior is symptomatic of the silly and obtuse behavior we have come to expect from people from your part of the country.
If that's the case why did you Nigerians call the Jan 1966 coup an Igbo coup while it was led by Chukwuma Kaduna Nzogwu a man who was born and raised in the north?

You even went ahead and massacred over 30000 innocent Igbo traders resident in the north who don't even know who Nzogwu is.

Gen Rogers has now achieved a great fit, you suddenly have turned to a lecturer by telling us why the man is more of a northerner than an Igbo man because of 'environment'.

I bet you are one of those that are still calling the coup an Igbo coup. NIGERIANS ARE HYPOCRITES OF THE FIRST ORDER!
