Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano has expressed his readiness to begin the dualization of majors roads in the three metropolitan cities in the state ,namely Onitsha ,Nnewi and Awka as according to him, this project has been factored In the 2018 budget.

The Governor who spoke at the Prof Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka during an emergency Townhall meeting he held with major stakeholders in the state, ascertained that dualization of majors roads in the three metropolitan cities in the state ,namely Onitsha ,Nnewi and Awka has been factored In the 2018 budget which will be presented to state Assembly December this year.

The meeting attracted traditional rulers and Presidents-General of Communities in the State, religious leaders as well as opinion influencers in the state.

Governor Obiano used the event to brief the people on the outcome of recent Southeast Governors Forum meeting held at Enugu after which he said that other stakeholders that attended the forums includes the representative of our national Assembly members,Sen Ike Ekweremadu , Ohaneze Ndigbo was represented by its President General-John Nnia Nwodo, has formally appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to withdraw the military from the South East ,and allow police do their constitutional duty of ensuring law and order.

He noted that the Southeast Governors Forum was championing the cause for restructuring of the country, adding that at their behest, several meetings have been held to discuss and articulate what is required in the restructuring process.

Gov Obiano debunked insinuations that the Operation Python Dance is targeted at annihilating Ndigbo, and asserted that it is a routine military operation and not a permanent one, recalling that last year, the Operation helped the state beef up its security drive especially during Christmas.

He appealed to the stakeholders to take the message down to the grassroot to inform their wards who are involved in the agitations to desist henceforth so as to safeguard their lives.

Miss Orient Foundation Worldwide, a Nigerian-based beauty pageant organization has officially endorsed Miss Orient Ghana Beauty pageant as a yearly beauty pageant in Ghana

The Ghanaian organization, “Good of today, Best of tomorrow”, is a registered Ghanaian brand which won the franchise for Miss Orient Ghana Beauty pageant.

Founder and President of Miss Orient Foundation Worldwide, Charles Umege, while announcing the endorsement, said this franchise came after the Ghanaian brand fulfilled all conditions attached.

Umege further observed that winners in the Miss Orient Ghana Beauty pageant are expected to represent Ghana yearly in Miss Global Orient Advocate pageant.

He congratulated the Chief Executive Officer, of the Ghanaian Organization, Rosemberth Jane for working had to ensure that the franchise was given to the company and also helping to expand Miss Orient Foundation Worldwide network in Africa.

“We officially welcome Miss Orient Ghana pageant into the family of Miss Orient Foundation Worldwide,” Umege said.

It was an innovation of some sort. Instead of the usual face-to-face or group discussions with the pubic on why they should always keep the environment clean, the 400 level students of Mass Communication, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), 2016 class, decided to attract public attention on environment through another means.


They practiced a popular dance called Calypso Mexico for about two months and on the D-day, sometime in September 2016, about 100 students dressed in different attires representing different professions, including different uniforms of various departments in the institution to perform for environment.

The aim was to show that people in every profession should be concerned about environmental sanitation. The attires reflected the following: doctors, nurses, lawyers, engineers, market women, native doctor, Priests, Reverend sisters, students of various departments, micky and miny mouse to represent children, among others.
