Sorry, is it possible to send naira to my sister in the US and in turn, she sends dollars to my domiciliary account at the official rate? its same as buying dollar from the black market. There is no way your sister will give you dollar at bank rate.but if she can do that, very good I must say.send naira into her naira account, then she can send dollar equivalent into your domiciliary account. NOTE: what I mean by her naira account is her Nigeria bank account. Maybe she has some dollar she want to send home. You can buy from her. But I doubt if she will sell to you at bank rate. |

signature2012: A family friend will be getting PPR soon.Their passport will be expiring by December. They have applied for renewal and they have the new International Passport.
Do they need to inform IRCC or wait till they get passport request ?
They are thinking if they get Passport request, they will submit the old and new passport.
I suggested they inform IRCC via Webform about their new Passport. Has anyone been in this position? Kindly advise please… They should inform the IRCC immediately through webform. Its very important |

Bibitayo2: Thank you. Will I buy the dollars at the official or black market rate?
Sorry for my questions. I am just uninformed about this. no bank sells dollar unless for PTA/BTA. Therefore you need to buy your dollar from the black market and fund your account. |

Bibitayo2: Thank you... How do I do that, pls? go to your bank and open a domiciliary account.( dollar account) then buy dollar and pay into it,that's all. If they need POF ,you can print your dollar account statement and show them. |

Bibitayo2: Please when setting aside the POF, is it ideal to use the official rate or the black market rate? To me I prefer to keep POF in dollars. Inflation can affect your local currency. You may keep your POF in your local currency, in the next 1 year, exchange rate will affect your money, then it becomes a challenge. 1 Like |

Does one need to pay transmission fees for dependents below 14years since they didn't do biometrics? Honestly I don't know about this... 1 Like |

Pateda26: Hallelujah! It's RFV...
Not too long but a roller coaster daunting but eventful journey.
My siblings in Canada have been on my case to relocate but for some weird reasons I rather prefer to just do visit and come back. Until I got married and my wife became so scared of naija wahala. Easily my people were able to make her start the process.
She applied in mid month of Dec 2020, for our ECA and used etx for transcript, we both have masters from UNN but surprisingly, her WES was completed in first week of Jan 2021 while mine was eventually completed in June 2021. That delay got me involved because of transcript issues and that's how my interest started, coupled with the lack of foreseeable end to insecurity and above all the kids future.
My wife's first and only IELTS result came ending of June, 2021 with just an average score of 7 (I didn't write IELTS). This was enough to enter the pool. We both have more than a decade work experience from a single organization.
As at when we joined pool our CRS was a paltry 347! Before we got nomination it dipped to 327 due to birthdays, lol. So cos of the low score we dont visit the EE portal, we were focused on getting PNP.
So just as the EE profile was created, an EOI was submitted for SINP and within few days we got an ITA. At this point, I now put on my researching cap and carried Canada immigration matter as case study especially SINP.
I realised since we didn't have POF ready and SINP has a rigid 3months old POF rule, we had to painfully ignore the ITA and went all out to gather fund. When it expired we were now set and ready to receive another ITA. Unfortunately, the rules have changed! SINP draws paused and eventually health professionals need to get job offer to be considered!
In between this period of dilemma, we took a stroll into the EE profile and found notification of interest (NOI) sitting pretty but now old in the account!
AINP sent us NOI end of September, 2021 but we didn't get to see it until mid November! It was a rush of emotions. We noticed that, we didn't accept to click getting mail option. So we couldn't get mail from EE portal and since we weren't expecting any miracle we just abandoned the account.
AINP usually gives 2weeks for applicants to accept their NOI else it goes invalid. Well, we sent an acceptance using the link provided and also followed it up with a letter of clemency, stating why we missed it.
Fortunately, after 48hours, we got a response that we can continue with the same application under same stream. That was the first miracle for me in this process.
Unfortunately, cos of the experience we have had with SINP as regards health professionals and Canadian licensing. We opted to fill in another NOC that does not require license during the submission of application. This was even recommended by the licensing authority of my wife profession in Canada, cos licensing can take some time and makes immigration process long.
So after we submitted AINP application in Jan 2022, by march most of the applicants we submitted same month have been nominated but ours was not touched. We knew that our delay was cos we did not apply with the NOC upon which we got NOI. We didn't know what to do. We were scared to make any move to avoid disqualification.
On a fateful night, kidnappers came and made attempt close to our home, the gunshots were terrible! It was in a prone position, lights off, shivering, that I drafted a letter of change of NOC for my wife to send to AINP. We gave them reasons why we had to deviate from the original NOC based on the recommendation of a regulatory body over there. We showed all evidence, dropped links to the website quoted and prayed. This was around April 10, 2022.
About 2weeks after, my wife was called by AINP, for some fact check. The agent is a Nigerian so the talk flowed well. He asked for her NOC, and she told him the initial NOC filled and that she sent a mail for change to the main NOC. The officer said,he's calling cos of the mail (our second miracle) and fortunately for us, the reference letter submitted was in favour of the new NOC as well.
Nomination came the following day as my birthday gift, after we sent the payslips he asked immediately.
Unfortunately, EE draw happened that same day before we could link the nomination to EE. So early may ITA arrived and we submitted application using same documents used for AINP. Our reference letter was about 6months old, spouse foreign work experience was clicked but since I had collected my reference when we applied for my wife's, so I just uploaded it as asked. Thank God mine wasn't assessed cos the job duties no too rhyme at all with my chosen NOC. We didn't see IRCC guideline when we were making request for reference letter. We only wrote it as our usual routine came to mind.
My wife's reference letter was better off but can be better. Remember we wrote her letter to have semblance with that initial NOC we filled during AINP?
It was when we got nomination that I joined this group. I had a lot of struggle within me to change the reference letter but cos of the tussle involved in getting it from work. We just decided to use it because we didn't want to delay any further. I was not comfortable with some entries too on our marriage certificate.
Anyways, I remember in one of my queries when the amiable @Graciouswords advised that I should look for WhatsApp group of my AOR and join to know when eligibility is passed for people around me. That advice was the bombard. Those WhatsApp groups are real tension relievers.
My journey from AOR to RFV is about 86days
AOR May 29 MED Aug 19 BIL Completed Aug 22 RFV Aug 23
If this is not God's grace I wonder what is?
Thanks You Jesus!!!
PS: Pls to submit passport in Nigeria to VFS where biometrics was done, do one need to go online to do anything? Are we making any transmission payment for dependents who didn't capture for biometrics? The recent announcement that one can walk in to submit passport physically in Nigeria, does it mean that passport are now being stamped in Naija also? Is someone residing in naija but outside Lag and Abj supposed to just courier passport 2way to Abuja/Lagos and that's all, even with below 14years old dependents? Pls what's the process?
I wish everyone still waiting for the golden mail Godspeed and
Congratulations bro! For your passport submission, go to any of the VFS you did your Biometric and submit your passport, it's Free. You can just work in,no appointment needed but for VSF Abuja, Passport submission starts from 8am and end at 10am,Monday to Friday.i don't know about Lagos Office. 3 Likes |

MaameU: Hi my Future Canadian Family, I have been seeing people provide advise on the list of essential items to take to Canada but I have not seen any mention of which shipping company to use. Please which shipping company is best for shipping items to Canada? Is shipping cheaper than paying for extra luggage? Your suggestion will be very helpful. lol..boss do you want to go to Canada with your car, furnitures and home appliances Hahaha. Anyways if I were you,I will just manage the 23kg(×2) the airline will give you or pay for extra 23kg.This is better, than going through the stress of shipping things to Abroad ...Shipping things from Abroad to your country is more easier than shipping from your country to Abroad..with your kg,you can concentrate more on food items that can take you up to 6 months or more.(non perishable items that you can preserve easily) forget about Rice, salt, groundnut oil or things you can buy from the supermarkets Abroad.you can take few of your clothes, but more of Winter wears... 3 Likes 1 Share |

BelovedQuerida: Hi everyone. I want to share my good news (maybe?) and also ask some questions. By way of background, sometime in Feb 2020 (just before lockdown), I joined Nairaland because my EE application had just been refused for allegedly ‘claiming points for a professional degree in law’ even though my WES assessment of same indicates that it is a ‘bachelor degree in law’, and I needed all the assistance I could get. Indeed, God sent me angels from here who answered my questions and encouraged me to apply for a reconsideration/review. My application was eventually re-opened less than a month later and the hope was that we would receive PPR soon. That didn’t happen (full details on why later). So all through the covid lockdown, 2021 and half way through 2022, we heard nothing, despite several web forms raised and emails sent to addresses I obtained from the net.
Sometime in June, we received a request to redo our medical exams. From then on, we received a couple more requests and finally just last week, we received the ‘Ready for Visa Email’. I did not see it until after 2 days because it was sent to the first email registered with my account (which I changed after the initial rejection because my poor heart couldn’t take any more disappointments) and not the one currently listed on my account.
So now to my questions: 1. Even though we have received PPR email, there is no update on my CIC account - I read somewhere that this happens. Confirmations will put my mind at rest. 2. Which of the countries should we send our passports to and what is the process (submission, payment, etc)? I heard Accra and Kenya are fast, however, I have not been able to figure out the fees payable. My passport and my son’s will expire next year March, so we really need the passports stamped, so we can do first landing possibly before the end of the year, so please help.
PS: AOR was May 2019 - so almost 39 months (3 yrs and 3 months). Hope that encourages someone, however, I do not wish it for anyone. I will share my full story when we get the COPR. Thanks in advance ! Congratulations ☺on your PPR. If you did your Biometric in lagos or Abuja. Go to the same VFS and submit your passport, it's free.no other charges required. They will help you send it to Accra for your COPR.Read your PPR letter carefully, you will understand this...Goodluck! 3 Likes |

Dandy1: I couldn't find a suitable sub-forum for this topic, so I used the general. Kindly patiently read through, if there's anyone that can help - please kindly reach out.
I'm going to be apt and sincere here. So I ordered a musical studio equipment on the Aliexpress 11:11 sales day. The total sum I paid for the item at checkout was $280(114k naira). Free shipping was part of the deal, so it was mouth watering. Normally, I would have used the service of Nairaland trusted shipping agents like Justi4jesu, but she doesn't do Aliexpress the last time I checked.
Fast forward to today, I was called to come pick up my parcel at the local post office. The item was stated on the listing to be shipped through 'Aliexpress standard shipping', I don't know how it ended up in the care of EMS. I reached there, and some sort of invoice was brought out. The attending agent looked at the papers for a moment and told me I would be paying about 39,600 for the clearance. What!!!
I couldn't believe my ears, so I told her to please pass me the document for observation. I saw the estimated value of the item was put at #202,000 naira. How come? It stated on the paper that the custom duty was 10%,which is #20,000. Plus all other trumped up charges, it summed up to #39,600. Plus 1k5 for shipping from Lagos, over 40k. That's about $100, using the current official exchange rate.
I bought a $280 dollar item and I'm being charged $100 for collection? That's like 43% of the value. Even if I am stinkingly rich, which I am not; it's insane to pay such amount. It's like buying a 1milli worth car and paying 430k to clear it. I am an obedient citizen and all, but inflating the price of the item I bought just to cash out big through tariff screams corruption to me. I am very sure just a fraction of the amount will be remitted to government coffers.
Please if there's anybody who has an idea how to go about beating down this obviously outrageous charges, kindly help out. I can print out the issued invoice on the bought item as proof of price if there's a need. Thanks.
Lalasticlala and other mods, I will be glad if this can make front page for more awareness of this unjust situation. Thanks the next end anything that will happen in Nigeria should be ENDCUSTOM. They are worst than Ebola..take heart bro |

Thinktwicemybro: *CBN FX ISSUE: MY SUGGESTIONS*
Like it or not 90% of Nigerians are fraudulent and love quick money. I applaud the CBN from banning black market because they are the once increasing the dollar for no reason. This are my suggestions.
1. Banks should now have dollar account for customers. 2. Customers should be able to transfer naira to that dollar account and it will credit using the official rate of #410 3. Restrictions should be placed on that dollar account by which customers cannot witdraw more than a certain amount at a time. 4. Traveling customers who want BTA and PTA should transfer the money directly from their dollar account to their foreign account but the money will be in ledger and will be fully credited when the airline operator confirms the persons arrival to the country. 5. CBN should lunch payment on arrival policy for those who want to import goods. 6. Those who want to import large goods should inform the CBN, lodge the money into CBN, who will then pay for the goods once they arrive Nigeria. 7. Anything that can be produced in Nigeria should no longer be imported.
Greetings sir.from what you wrote above, its obvious that you are not a businessman,if by mistake you are,it's clear to me that you don't buy things from the international market. Again, I noticed you are not a frequent traveller because your analysis on how the bank should give PTA/BTA to customers can be rated 10/100.do you know how much banks charge you when you withdraw dollar from ATM abroad? I guess you don't know lol Bro honestly speaking our banking system is corrupt .our top government officials are all criminals.they contributed to this predicament we are into right now. Again you mentioned about bank releasing the dollar to the importer when the goods arrived nigeria , then how will the person source for dollars to buy the goods abroad before it arrives nigeria. Lol. 2 Likes |

Honestly the way this thing is going, I'm 100% sure dollar will hit 600 before December. The system is too corrupt.banks are hoarding dollar and the BDCs are hoarding dollar too.go to bank you can't get dollar because the staff are hoarding it for their customers who will dash them huge money after approving your BTA/PTA. Imagine since Monday I applied for PTA,until now no show because the staff handling my application know I will not give her shishi if I get the PTA.
