Nigerian celebrities are well known for their eccentric taste in fashion and they are not left behind as regards the denim on denim trend as most of them have stylishly donned the ensemble.

Denim is a durable cotton twill textile, typically used to make jeans, overalls, and other clothing. It was traditionally colored blue with indigo dye to make blue jeans, although “jean” formerly denoted a different, lighter, cotton fabric.

Celebrities / Marriage Or No Marriage, I Am With My Children — 9ice by celestine540(f): 11:42am On Mar 25, 2017
*Says ‘Gongo Aso’, announced him as a musician

Abolore Akande, popularly known as 9ice has come a long way in the Nigerian music industry, having gained recognition in 2005, after releasing his first single, “Little Money”. Since then, the ‘Alakpomeji’ crooner’ has not slowed down in his quest to be on top of his game. Recently, he signed a new deal with Temple Management Company, TMC, which marked a new beginning in his musical career. But beyond this, 9ice craves for happiness in all ramifications. He believes that not having children from one woman can deprive him of his happiness. In this engaging interview , 9ice speaks about what gives him happiness, his music, new management and marriage.

You recently signed a deal with Temple Management Company, how are you enjoying the new experience?
Like you said, it’s a new experience for me. So far so good, I’m welcoming all the ideas and experiences. I’m loving it.

You once lamented the difficulties associated with an artiste managing himself. Now that you have a management in place, how far do you intend to go in your career?
An artiste will go far because he has all the time to creatively create a new sound. Now, he has people that monitor your image out there, book shows for you and ensure that you dress in a particular way. So, the artiste’s sole priority is to make music unlike before, where you have to be your own manager, your own booking agent and promoter. My sole priority now is to create good sounds.

When you were managing yourself, what was it like?
It was hectic but also, fun. This is because it was a new industry that was growing up then. So, to find myself in that situation at that time was new to me even though I was having fun.

What motivated you to go into politics?
We tried politicians, they failed us, the media failed us too. We have not tried pastors and entertainers. So, if a press man is qualified to be a politician, what stops me from going into politics. Am I not a Nigerian? I can vote and be voted for. So, what’s wrong with my going into politics?“

It’s unusual seeing a musician going into politics.
Well, to see a musician at my level going into politics is new in Nigeria. But we are being used by politicians as tools for their campaign. So, I will rather campaign for myself and do what I need to do because I know how to deliver and I have my name to protect. So, why do I need to campaign for another person.

“What was the experience like?
I learnt a lot of lessons and I can tell you that it will take God Almighty to reposition Nigeria. Yes, I can say that I would have won my primaries if they had allowed my Local Government to vote. In spite of that, I defeated about three sitting commissioners. I came second during the primaries, so, it was a wonderful experience for me. I don’t have any regrets, but going into politics taught me a lot of things. That’s why I said earlier that it would take God Almighty to reposition Nigeria.

Did you go into politics because music at the time wasn’t as challenging as it used to be?
Yes, it wasn’t and I said it loud and clear. Music wasn’t challenging any more, in terms of the drive, the motivation and the passion. Those days, you hear someone’s songs and you want to become a better singer. It wasn’t like that any more. People dance to the beats. We listen to music because we want to learn something, not because one wants to dance to the rhythm. That’s my school of thought. So, music wasn’t challenging to me at the time I went into politics. When I was coming up, it was challenging then.

What’s your greatest hit that each time you listen to it, you feel like remixing the song?
It’s the song I titled, “Any Time.” It talks about my life and experiences. While I was growing up, the things I experienced in my life; how I scaled through the hurdles of becoming a man. I am planning to do a remix of the song with Youssou N’Dour.

There’s a statement credited to you that you wished all your children came from the same mother. Are you regretting your marital life?
There are so many things anybody can wish himself in life. I can wish to be the governor of Lagos State. Need is different from want.

But does it mean that you have not been lucky, in terms of marriage?
I am very lucky and I am happy with what I have. Being married does not mean that you are going to be happy, unless we want to deceive ourselves.

Supposing your ex -wife, Toni comes back to you, will you give her another chance?
She’s with me and we are both happy. She’s living her life while I’m living my own life. Happiness is the most important thing. Don’t let your family push you into doing anything you don’t like. If you want to stay in marriage, all well and good. But if you think not getting married gives your happiness, don’t marry. It is not by force that one must marry. God is not going to punish anybody who refused to get married.

So, how do you run your home?
How I run my home is different from how you run your own home. I might not be the one running the home. It might be the mothers of my kids who are running the home in my absence and they are doing it perfectly well. And the glory will come to me. When it comes to marital issues, it is a game of luck. Nobody can come and tell me that I’m perfect that’s why I’m married. We all know how it’s being done. People have issues in marriage everyday. What I want in my life is happiness and I’m having it now. And I’m loving it. Marriage or no marriage, I am happy and I have my children. That’s the important thing to me. Another source of my happiness is my focus on my music. If you are happy, you can make the next person around you happy. What I want in life is happiness, whether I get in marriage or out of marriage, is irrelevant to me.

At what point did you start enjoying the reward of your sweat?
At the moment, I released “Gongo Aso”as a single, not as an album. When I released my first album there were many singles that were making it. But I can’t genuinely say I have arrived. But when I released “Gongo Aso”, as a single, it announced me. After which I released album after album.

Celebrities / Prophet Who Slept With A Cult Member, Says He's Being Raped By A Snake Everyday by celestine540(f): 8:25am On Mar 24, 2017
A 40-year-old Zimbabwean self-styled prophet has revealed that he now physically engages in anal sex with a snake since bedding Sheila Taibu, a member of a popular cult in Zimbabwe.
Speaking about the tormenting trauma, Pachawa Kwanamba said since the encounter, a mysterious snake is in the habit of penetrating him from his behind every day.

'Sometimes I feel it is much better for me to die than to continue to live the life that I am living
'Mysterious things have been happening to me ever since the day I had sex with Sheila and I now regret the decision I made of indulging in sex with her. Whenever I explain my situation to people some think I am insane and others would cut communication ties with me.
'I helplessly find myself being a victim of anal sex every day; the snake only comes whilst I am about to sleep and enters me from behind.
"This does not happen spiritually but the snake comes in its physical state and I even have scars on my behind to prove what I am saying,' said Pachawa in a recent interview
He added that he has since lost his prophetic powers as a result of being intimate with the woman.
'When I reflect at what is happening in my life, I am reminded of the biblical Samson who lost all his powers after sleeping with Delilah.'

Islam for Muslims / Suicide: A Major Sin Before Allah. by celestine540(f): 7:06am On Mar 24, 2017
One of the sins Muslims commit inadvertently is abandoning a Muslim brother for more than three days. Most of us in this part of the world are guilty of that. A lot of reasons are adduced for this inadequacy.

While some will blame it on their busy schedule, some will say: “I ve my own life to live” and all that. Brotherhood in Islam is a matter of obligation and not a matter of choice and that is why it becomes a sin if you fail to fulfill your part as a Muslim brother.

It is a comprehensive concept that is based upon good character with others, treating others the way we want to be treated, and uniting under common values. In every Muslim, there must exist a sense of community, friendship, and common purpose in Islam for the sake of Allah.

It is only when we we do this that we will know what is happening to another brother and how we can offer assistance individually or collectively. Segregation, or showing lack of concern for others or forsaking another Muslim brother is one of the ways in which Shaytan causes division among Muslims. A dispute or some trivial disagreement may not be enough except it is only based on committing sin against Allah.

Trivial disagreement

No matter the differences, a Muslim must not say “I’ll never go to his house, or ignoring him if he happens to encounter him in a gathering is a sin. This is a cause of weakness in the Muslim community, hence the ruling concerning this is decisive and the warning against it is stern. Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (s.a.w) said: “It is not permitted for a Muslim to forsake his brother for more than three (days); whoever does this and dies, he will enter Hell.” (Reported by Abu Dawud, 5/215; see also Saheeh al-Jaami’, 7635). Now, on the issue of suicide, it is a major sin. A Muslim has no right to take his own life, no matter the circumstances. The Prophet taught that any one who commits suicide will dwell in eternal hell fire, adding that Allah will punish him with the means that which he used to commit suicide. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever throws himself down from a mountain and kills himself will be throwing himself down in the Fire of Hell for ever and ever.

Whoever drinks poison and kills himself will be sipping it in the Fire of Hell for ever and ever. Whoever kills himself with a piece of iron will have that iron in his hand, thrusting it into his belly in the Fire of Hell for ever and ever.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5442) and Muslim (109), In another related hadith, the Prophet (s.a.w) said: “Whoever kills himself with something will be punished with it on the Day of Resurrection.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5700) and Muslim (110).

It was narrated that Jundub ibn ‘Abd-Allaah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: “A man among those who came before you was wounded. He panicked and took a knife and cut his hand, and the bleeding did not stop until he died. Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, said: ‘My slave hastened his death; I have forbidden Paradise to him.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (3276) and Muslim (113).

Another important thing to note is that scholars and clerics in Islam may refrain from offerring Janaza for anyone who commits suicide. This follows the action of the Prophet (s.a.w) who refrained from offering the funeral prayer for one who had committed suicide, as a punishment to him and also as a deterrence to other. Although, he was said to have given permission to people to offer the funeral prayer for him. It was narrated that Jaabir ibn Samurah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: A man who had killed himself with a broad arrow-head was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and he did not offer the funeral prayer for him. Narrated by Muslim, 978.

The believer in any kind of trauma has to be patient and seek the help of Allah. He should understand that no matter what hardship befalls him in this world, no matter how severe it is; the punishment of the Hereafter is worse than it. It is not acceptable according to anyone who is of right mind to run away from the heat of the desert and throw himself into the fire. How can he flee from temporary hardship and difficulty; which inevitably will come to an end; to an eternal punishment which has no end?

Eternal punishment

Any Muslim in that circumstance should ponder and realise that he is not the only one in this world who is affected by that adversity. Different kinds of adversities befell the greatest of mankind, namely the Prophets, Messengers and the righteous. They also befell the worst of mankind, namely the disbelievers and atheists.

It is part of natural order of things to have issues and occurence that will sometimes be painful, and hardly anyone is safe from it. Human being is bound to face them, and he must endeavour to overcome them no matter how difficult they are. We are even taught that even when pain, hardship, sickness or grief befalls a believer, if he remains steadfast and overcome it, some of his bad deeds will be expiated.

If the believer handles it well and remains steadfast, and it becomes a means that makes him turn back to Allah and strive hard in worship and righteous deeds, then the calamity would have been good for him and would be expiation for his sins, and perhaps he would meet Allah with no burden of sin.

May Allah give us the taqwa to keep us away from sin and enough devotion and obedience to Him to help us reach His Paradise. Amin.
Crime / Cultists Kill Final Year Student In Enugu. by celestine540(f): 6:38am On Mar 24, 2017
ENUGU—A final year student of the Department of Political Science, in one of the South-Eastern universities, one Joseph Emmanuel, has been reportedly murdered by suspected cultists at his off campus accommodation.

The victim, it was gathered, was in company of his friends when the suspected cultists, numbering about three, armed with guns and machetes, stormed his home. He was allegedly beaten and given several machete cuts before they shot him twice in the head. An unidentified friend of the deceased, who was with him, was said to have escaped with severe injuries.

Emmanuel was immediately taken to a medical centre and later transferred to Bishop Shanahan Hospital in Nsukka, where he was confirmed dead. A friend of the deceased, who pleaded anonymity, described the incident as unfortunate, adding that the deceased was the one who introduced him to the Ponzi scheme, MMM. He said: “It is quite sad. I have known him for quite some time now. In fact, he was the one that even introduced me to MMM. I do not know what could have led to this.” When asked about the personality and character of the deceased, he said he was social but lived a lavish lifestyle. Another resident in the area, who simply gave his name as Mark, said the murder could be a retaliatory attack by rival cultists. He said: “Last Sunday, they shot somebody at that gate over there (pointing). This may be a revenge mission.” Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the incident, adding that investigations and a manhunt for the suspects have begun.

Politics / Release Nnamdi Kanu, Other Biafra Activists — Peter Obi. by celestine540(f): 6:22am On Mar 24, 2017
ENUGU—Immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has called for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and other detained Biafra activists.

Obi, while fielding questions from newsmen in Enugu, yesterday, emphasised that the use of force was not the solution to the Biafra agitation as such agitations are best resolved through dialogue.

He said: “I wish to appeal to the Federal Government to change its hardline posture on this issue and yield to the persistent clamour for the release of Nnamdi Kanu and other Biafran activists to douse the tension in the country, especially in the South-East and South-South geo-political zones. “The Federal Government should engage them in dialogue. Every agitation in the world is resolved through dialogue and not by means of force.” The former governor recalled that he was among the first to advocate a political solution to the renewed Biafra agitation and expressed disappointment that the advice was yet to be heeded. “This has been my consistent position, and I remember making the same point when I spoke at an event organised in Enugu in February 2016 by the Igbo Youth Movement,” he said. He noted that while the Federal Government may have reservations about the Biafra agitation, it should realise and acknowledge that the agitators, like other citizens, have their fundamental rights of freedom of expression and assembly guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution.
