johnmattew: In your mind, Ghana is going through a recession because nigeria has closed its borders.. i laugh in Twi. Sorry to disappoint you but our economy is growing at a cool 7 to 8%. If your economy is also growing at a rate like ours or even far better than ours as a result of the border closure then thats good news for us all right... By the way why have you decided to reopen it in January 2020. You should extend it to 2050, since its helping boost your economy and you are making millions as you claim. Am I right?? |

nototribalist: You are as ignorant as those who liked your comment. So Ghanaians buy products in Nigeria and sell in Ghana means Ghana depends on Nigeria. Is it bad to buy from Nigeria and sell somewhere. Dont some Nigerian traders buy some items from Ghana and sell in Nigeria. Is it also bad?. Sometimes i read you guy's comments and i wonder how you guys reason. Close the border for 100 years and you think Ghana's economy will collapse? You must be dumb to think so. Go check how much products Ghana produces and exports to nigeria and vise versa, when you finish check the growth rate of both countries. And come back and tell me whether it will collapse our economy as you guys claim. My foot... Our leaders come to talk you over to open that border becos thats what a sane government should do. Even if Togo decides to for instance ban our products, our government must go and talk things over with them. Concerning the issue of retail trade in Ghana. The law is as old as our Constitution, its to reserve the space for Ghanaians. The law is to promote bigger retail investment and employment instead of that table top retail. And why do you guys always refer to this law. Dont you also know Nigeria has a similar law. Yes Nigeria has a similar law. That is why every year they select some goods that are 100% produced in Ghana and other countries in ecowas and ban them from entering Nigeria. Ask yourself why. Like I said close your border for 100 years and our economy will grow at a comfortable 8% more, with or without you. We are on fire and noone can stop us. Come to think of it why dont also shut your seaport, if you are really serious about this your thing. If you can shut your seaport and ban generator importation then i know you guys are really really serious, until then cheers. 2 Likes |

TheDestroyer: Do you care to give us the list of "pan African roles" played by Nigeria that Ghana has not played. In fact... I dare you. For every 1 you mention for Nigeria, I will mention 2 for Ghana. Are you ready to do this? If I were you, simply looking at that magnificent statue of Nkrumah at the AU headquarters in Ethiopia (not Ghana) would have kept my mouth shut. But hey... You are a Nigerian, you have grown to hate anything Ghanaian, to the extent of insulting such a great leader whom non of your nigerian leaders past or present, dead or alive would dare disrespect. Not even Ethiopia with their Haile Selassie could deny the fact that Osagyefo Nkrumah and not Haile Selassie deserves that special honor of a statue in front of the AU office in Addis Ababa. They whole of Africa could not even debate it. That was Africas man of the millennium. Go check that documentary about your own Fela again. The entire walls of his room was filled with Nkrumah's pictures. But thats what hatred for a people can do to you. You end up hating anything whether good or bad. Keep on my brother... CaptainMeks: Hahaaa ... I have followed most of your submission concerning this border closure and you seem to have a problem with Ghanaians and Ghana as a country. Tell me what exactly is your problem with Ghana? Becos I don't get it. I am not going to talk about which country needs which country more. But ask yourself what products does Nigeria export to Ghana that Ghana cannot get elsewhere..my brother. So if you go to buy a product at a shop and the seller is not treating you well, you cant go somewhere and get it? Look, i have told you before that your leaders cannot afford to underrate Ghana. They cant afford to not give Ghana a preferential treatment. They cant afford to turn their back on Ghana. It will be at their own detriment. Your views as an ordinary citizen is inconsequential. Forget about all this online bickering and insults. I have always said that if Nigeria is the King, Ghana is that sparkling diamond crown. Close that border for 20 years and Ghana will never face any economic problem. You know why? Becos Ghana will always have a way. We will look elsewhere while still working to get our goods into Nigeria..The largest market. We are like that persistent salesman whom after you have been rude to him on Monday will come back to you to ask if you will buy his goods. For him he doesn't care if the buyer thinks he needs him more or not. He is all about making sale and making his money. That is Ghana for you. 1 Like 2 Shares |

Cutealexio: Yes... He's on point. But export to where exactly. Its obvious no European nation will buy weapons from Nigeria, likewise American, Asian countries. Not in a hundred years to come. Even the African countries the ones likely to respect your ingenuity and buy from you are your immediate neighbors Benin, Togo, Niger, Sierra Leone etc etc. The same countries you disrespect and call all sort of names. The same countries you closed your border on. Have you now realised you will need "ordinary Benin, common Togo and ordinary Niger ,etc" to buy those ammunities from you? |

You guys don't know Ghanaian leaders... Watch how they will maneuver through the situation and see how in the end it will benefit Ghana. Even if Gambia decides to for instance boycott our products, trust Ghanaian leaders to go and negotiate some kind of a deal with them. So its not new to us. Anything that will be in our interest internationally trust me they will do it. |

CaptainMeks: Hahaaa my brother... Forget about wat you hear people say on the media. If you base your entire idea of a nation based solely on what you hear on media you will be so wrong. I have had similar experiences while in Nigeria but i dont think i will judge Nigerians based on that. To think our media will overlook the myriad of problems in Ghana and spend prescious time talking about another country that is miles away is folly. Who told you that? Stop being paranoid. Our media doesn't have time for that... When a Nigerian commits a crime in Ghana, should we say it without mentioning his nationality, is that not what your media also do. When a Ghanaian commits a crime in Nigeria dont you add the name Ghana to the headline. Now with the issue of Francophone countries, they dont hate us, becos we are kind to them, We respect them and they respect us. We live with them just as neighbors should live. We have never had a brawl with anyone of them. They love us to death... Did you know at some point in time there were proposals to merge Burkina Faso with Ghana. I think during Sankaras time. So wat are you talking about... hate? Never. Nigeria needs Ghana as much as Ghana needs Nigeria. If you think you dont need any body..well thats your opinion. i wont argue with you on that. Now you didn't disprove the link I posted earlier. Concerning your country receiving aid. I didn't post it to insult Nigeria but to let you erode that notion that its only Ghana that takes aid. Dont think Ghana is Benin or Togo or Niger. Ghana is a different country all together. That is why Ghana could negotiate a corridor and Benin or Togo can not. Your leaders saw the need and importance thats why they granted that request of a corridor. If Ghana closes her border now. Are you telling me your government will not complain or negotiate on behalf of Nigerian companies that are doing business in Ghana. And if that happens does that make Ghana a superpower of some sort. Your border is your border... You can do whatever you want with it. It is only appropriate that a good government seeks the welfare of its citizens and that was what the Ghana government has done- to secure a corridor. The topic of this post is not true. It was just some noise made by the trade union. They were just proposing to the government. If theres one thing i love about our governments its how they handle international issues. You can ask the Ivorians how we handled the oil dispute with them. So my brother you can close your border to others for 30 years, and our leaders will always have a way. A way that is non aggressive and will be to the benefit of both. Ghana will always be given a VVIP treatment. You can ask your leaders. They know. Same way even if Togo closes their border with us, we will still go and negotiate with them for a deal if only it will benefit our citizens. 1 Like |

Even though when used very well it can be an advantage. CaptainMeks: Ok i have heard, in effect all you are saying is you take aid, but not as much as Ghana, right... or to put it metaphorically, All African country's shit smells but Nigerians shit doesnt smell as much Ghanas Thank you... Kindly take a look at this link, read it till the end and tell me what you think. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2387359/amp/Nigeria-country-corrupt-better-burn-aid-money.html Look I am not one of those who will jump onto a public forum, defying all reason, bashing and denigrating another country simply becos he perceives a kind of rivalry between his country and another. Both countries are great. Each country performs better than the other in certain aspects. What Nigeria is doing at the moment is simply setting bad precedence in the subregion and considering the fact that Nigeria is the leader even makes it more inappropriate. France has dominated so much for so long in the subregion, Nigeria and Ghana by now should be looking at ways to get the other nations especially the francos to see us as their best friends... But how can we do that when you know these actions of yours are seriously going to cause dissent, erode any kind of friendly feeling towards the English speaking countries and then further drive them towards France their master. There are Nigerian manufacturers who use Ghanaian raw materials for production in Nigeria and then export, just as there are Ghanaian companies who use Nigerian raw materials in production for export. What you guys are doing is trying to say Nigeria should produce everything, which is not possible. Go ask America whether they produce everything. 60% of coconut consumed by Nigeria comes from Ghana. Similarly 70% of Ghanas onions comes from Nigeria and Niger. So wat happens to these Nigerian exporters who export onion to Ghana. No smuggler uses an approved route, what your government should have done was look for ways to close the loopholes, strict punishment for corrupt border officials and it could have solved the issue better. You rule a nation with both mind and muscle. Not muscle alone. According to the above article 400 billion dollars has been given to Nigeria in the form of aid since independence. Look, Nigeria is great but dont come around acting like you dont need your neighbors. |

Same way you claim you used 61 billion dollars to help fight apartheid in South Africa. I know yall feeling like America... You guys are really funny. I swear. Your economy was in tatters due to low price of oil in international market as at the time of the deportation, go and check. So how did you build the economy... The same thing South Africans are doing, Ghanaians did it earlier and we are ashamed of it... But even then we say we were not as civilized as we are now. Then Nigeria did it at a time when people were supposed to be more civilized than before. You claimed the foreigners were criminals, and prostitutes. If you were not xenophobic why didnt you fish out only Ghanaians for deportation so that it can be assumed you did it to also retaliate. But you chased away all foreigners including Ivorians, Togolese, malians, burkinabes etc, you beat some, you killed some, a lot died on their way to their countries due to hunger and suffocation at borders. Nigerians are as xenophobic as south Africa, you just hide it, but we know you too well. Evil pretenders... 3 Likes 1 Share |

IntrovertedK: Nigerians acting all clean and innocent as if they love and accept all Africans. Every country has xenophobic tendencies, including Nigeria. Ghanaians acted that way before by sending away foreigners (great mistake) in the 60s. Nigerians also did the same thing (in the 80s) by beating and expelling not Ghanaians but foreigners. At a time when the world was even more civilized than in the 80s. If it was a retaliation why didnt they fish out only Ghanaians and send them home. But they included all foreigners from countries including togo, benin, niger, ivory coast, malians, burkina faso. Non of these countries has sacked or expelled Nigerians before yet you sacked them all to go home. You called them illegal immigrants, you claimed they were armed robbers, drug dealers, prostitutes, even when you knew some of them were teaching you, some were skilled artisans, and business men and women. You cried that they have taken over your jobs. Now that i have proved to you that Nigeria is as xenophobic as any other African country, do you have the moral right to say someone is xenophobic, do you have the moral right to say other countries hate you when you also showed and still show the same hatred and disrespect towards other countries. |

I don't know how old you are or if you were in school when the whole commotion occurred in 2002, I was then in my second year. I willingly partook in the fight, lol. Your school, Quinaz thought they could override a mixed school simply because they were a boys' school. They had the shock of their lives. The rivalry has been there sometime now. but what caused this particular one as I was told, Two labone girls who stay close to your school were assaulted by some cowards from your school(as usual) on their way home, So later one of your guys were passing through our school and the girls were able to rec some of them, she pointed them out, I was in the cadet and I remember helping to save your guys from beaten even though he enjoyed some few slaps hahahaaa.. later Quinaz sent a message to us that they will attack us, true to their words they sent just 4 nima boys from their school..( I wonder what they took us for)... Little did they know we also had guys from nima, madina zongo, Ashaiman etc. And they were beaten basa basa.. they sent another message that they will attack us two the following day. Again they kept their word, they came like bees.... Abt... 400 to 500. We went opened our tools room where we kept cutlasses, sticks, clubs etc... They started from the entrance, beat our security destroyed our street lights, dustbins bulbs everything in their way. No building was burnt. We also attacked them with all our might they started running, we chased them, we got some of them and beat them to stupor... They were shocked, they never expected it. It's like they underestimated us.... Later on the same day abt a handful of Accra Aca guys came to our school and we went stormed your campus, in retaliation, I never knew you guys could run like that oo... We were chased by the police and we run away. Anyway, arrests were made, our school was closed for like a week for repairs, The rivalry is still on. RTSC: In Ghana there was this primary text book we used to read. It contained a story about the elephant and the tsetsefly. Very interesting story, but I won't go into the details of the story. At the concluding part of the story, the tsetsefly described the elephant in an epic way and whenever I think of your country- Nigeria, that statement echoes in my mind. The tsetsefly described the elephant as "big body, small brain, no food". Hahahahaaaa My brother it's not about size of your body (resources, land, population) anymore oo. It's about the size of your brain and wats inside it. You think Ghana or African countries have supermen as leaders? The problem is the people, even though I believe it's a leader who can changes the mindset of the people. Just put anger, pain and sentiments aside and read your comment again. It's like you wish Ghana or other African countries were under you, so you can exhibit your arrogance on them. But sorry...Enemies are not God. Let me tell you this, you can never be better than any African... If you ever think you are better than others, then you should also know that is what other Africans also think about you- inferior, which is not the best. So bro chill, respect others, respect yourselves and lets grow our respective countries. Peace 1 Like |

legitnow: So after serious brainstorming session, this is all you could come up with. Damn. Anyway God bless my homeland Ghana. Take this from a brother from another land... Upon constant meditation on Africans, I have realised that we (all Africans) need healing. Ghana included. But Nigeria needs a serious kind of healing. Nigeria in particular needs a certain kind of serious and holistic healing, this should be the kind that will stimulate the mind, invigorate the psyche and renew the thought and boost self esteem. Most Nigerians I have met lack self esteem. They mask this lack of self esteem with arrogance and then exhibit with being loud. I have worked with most of them. They are very loud at our workplace but will draw back when the time comes for us to forward our grievances to the our superiors. They will usually look for the calm, but firm guy (me) to speak. This lack of self esteem is exhibit in the way some of guys see yourself in relation to other Africans and also how you love and respect your country. Just look at your comment and look at that of the other Nigerians you will know what I mean. You guys are not patriotic one bit. But you guys overlook all that and think someone hates you. It's all in your head, no one hates. To expect others to respect you when you generally don't respect, love and cherish yourself is folly at best. Patriotism is far more than just supporting Super Eagles. 1 Like |

You are very right speaking for the innocent, thats the very same thing well meaning Ghanaians are also doing, including our politicians, MPs, and even the same media houses some of you are castigating. But you see when news like these come out, some of your compatriots also report it the way they want you to receive it- for all intent and purposes, the the generalisation starts... Ghanaians are this, Ghanaians hate us, Ghanaians are maltreating us. They never say some. The same generalisation you don't want us to use on Nigerians, it's the same generalisation you do to Ghanaians. Do you know all our MPs have unanimously lambasted the media, and will invite some to answer questions. For the professor to say this government came to power on the back of Nigeria bashing is a big lie... Ask any Nigerian in Ghana, what the message of the government was. Free Senior high school, one district one factory, one village one dam, etc. You can ask any Nigerian in Ghana. But you see he has succeeded in using lies to sew seeds of Ghanaian hatred in some of you. Certainly i want a West African country to fall, collapse and be made powerless.
