Hmm, i see. Just what i expected. The unforgivable sin of disagreeing with the majority, especially when one is a newcomer. As christians, you guys ought to show more love to newbies even if they are still sinners like myself. Pastor chris should have talked about that.

Quote from Joagbaje:
Dont mind him, I wonder why he has to sign a new ID just because of CEC

That is very insulting to CEC. Please remove it before Pastor Chris sees it. (By the way, I only had to log in).

Quote from mabell:
Notice me poster smiley

Not really. But you’ll be noticing me a lot more when i decide to partake regularly in naijaland instead of just occasionally reading through comments and jumping in only when I can no longer bear the stupidity.

Meanwhile, may the goddess Oya guide you all through the day and destroy all our enemies with her hurricanes and tornadoes. Amen. wink

It’s amazing how people like ‘mabell’ and other supporters project their own idiocies onto rational people who are trying to enlighten them. I find the following quote both hilarious and yet highly revealing of the sort of mental condition that is keeping Nigeria in bondage.

Quote from nuclearboy:
“first time I will ever find myself in agreement with Mabell the old witch
CE members are usually violent, myopic and so so SO dedicatedly money minded yet here is this gentleman speaking like someone who still has brains not yet corrupted by yaks yaps.”

This is like pointing to a goat in the midst of lions and saying “here is the only animal that we can be sure will not be eaten within the next two hours.’

I very much agree with deols that many of these evangelical con artists all over the world are actually atheists/agnostics who realize that there is a lot of money to be made in the church industry. Also, many of these guys are sociopaths who have no feelings whatsoever for the people they are taking advantage of and feel no sense of guilt.

At the same time, one has to remember that human beings are very complex entities. One cannot immediately conclude that just because someone constantly lies and invents stories of miracles and supernatural events so as to deceive a gullible public into believing that he is a powerful MOG, or engages in other kinds of dishonest and rapacious practices, therefore means he is not a true believer. People often find all kinds of ways to rationalize and justify their actions even if they are inconsistent with their beliefs.

Of course, it is also possible that some of these men (and women) were once genuine believers but gradually lost their belief along the way on the road to immense material prosperity. The truth is that, at the end of the day, most Christians are not really certain about what they believe. There is a strong doubt that usually lies in their subconscious. That is why they need faith. Thus, when they are confronted with great material temptations it becomes difficult for them to take these beliefs seriously.

Sub title: What sort of government neglects and brutalizes its own citizens while committing billions of dollars and the lives of thousands of its soldiers to serving the interests of other countries?

Normally, a government acts in the self interests of its own country. When it comes to Nigeria, however, that rule appears to turn upside down. Let me highlight a couple of examples.

The Nigerian government, during the seventies, established a Trust Fund of US$ 80 million at the African Development Bank (ADB) in Abidjan to assist needy African countries. This is despite the fact that Nigeria itself was seriously lacking in basic amenities and infrastructure such as roads, electricity, public health care, etc,

The Nigerian Government gave huge donations to Cameroon to assist their relief efforts after the volcanic eruption they had in 1986. This was the same Cameroon that was fighting with Nigeria over Bakassi and would soon complete their insult of Nigeria in 2002.

The Nigerian government constantly donates huge sums of money to Sierra Leone to help in its development when its own citizens are in an even worse situation in many ways. And they continue to do this in the face of blatant ingratitude from Sierra Leone. Not long ago, the Nigeria government sent a delegation of doctors to Sierra Leone to help bolster their health care. This is the same government that cannot provide adequate health care to its own citizens.

The Nigerian government committed 12 billion dollars to its pathetic efforts to rescue Liberia and Sierra Leone from the grip of murderous rebels. Yet, the same government refuses to fund a proper and effective police force in its own country to deal with the daily scourge of armed robbery. Worst of all, the government sent thousands of Nigerian soldiers to their deaths defending foreign countries when not a single drop of blood has ever been shed by a Nigerian soldier for Nigerian citizens. On the contrary, the Nigerian army has had a record of brutalizing and committing genocidal acts on its own citizens.

The Nigerian government spent decades leading the campaign in Africa against the apartheid regime. Yet, the same government could not resolve, and was unwilling to address, the ethnic conflicts and ethnic oppression that was, and is still, going on in its own country.

The Nigerian government, within the past decade, gave free land to white racists from Zimbabwe who then came here and started making racist statements at Nigerians themselves even while enjoying their land.

Finally, the Nigerian government has shown its willingness to keep its citizens submerged in darkness, not to mention noise and air pollution, in order to do multinational generator-selling companies a favor by forcing Nigerians to buy their generators.

Of course, I know that Nigeria is not a real country, given its ethnic divisions. But it is still amazing and dumbfounding that any government in the world can behave like this. One cannot help but wonder who Nigerian leaders assume they are in government to serve: their own citizens or foreign countries.
