Hello chi1145. We addressed your concern a few months ago on this forum. Firstly, we should dispel any notion about the "change of intent" letter. Contrary to what you may have read on other threads or elsewhere on the Internet, these letters are not required, read or associated with an applicant's file. For visa and port of entry purposes, the only representations that matter are what you present at the Embassy/Consulate interview, in your application, and at the border. With regard to medical care --which includes pregnancy-- applicants are expected to pay the expenses in full. When doubts arise over an applicant's credibility and/or their ability to pay for medical care in the US, it can be difficult for the applicant to qualify for a visa. We do not discuss chances on this forum, only qualifications.

thank you for your response but do I still need to write to the embassy to present my case? as there is usually no time to do so while having a one on one interview with a VO because I would like to clear all doubts as well.

Hi everyone,
please i would like to get your opinion on this, myself and my family got a US visa 2years ago and we couldn't travel at the time we intended to go because my husband was bereaved of his mum and we eventually used the visa for a subsequent vacation and birthing as well, though I never sent a change of intent letter to the embassy because i dint know I was supposed to, I only got to know of such a letter when I joined this forum. Upon renewal our visas were refused under 221G and the VO said I was probably pregnant at the time of the interview and honestly I wasn't. We were asked to come for a fresh interview which we did and again we were denied under 214 (reasons not clear). My question is what are our chances if we re-apply and is it OK to write to the embassy attaching all necessary medical reports and scan to show I wasn't pregnant at the time of our first interview before re-applying again ? Even my LO birth date proves I wasn't pregnant at that time.. ..please your urgent response is required. Thanks

Good day, I'd like to share my experience at the Lagos US embassy today. I had initially been refused at Abuja in February with my husband and son because the visa officer claimed my bill showed pending final invoice and wasnt sure if I paid all my bill. At that time I didn't know about this thread and so many information on zero balance statement, letter of non-indebtedness n itimised bill. So I began to call the hospital to send these documents since February oh. Finally armed my self with every evidence that I wasn't owing, the budget sheet and all an envelope full of other documents. Mehn! The queue in Lagos no be child's play. I met an old lady, she refused 3 people before me. the following conversation took place

VO: Good Morning Ma'am
Me: Good Morning
VO: what did you go to do in Saudi Arabia?
Me: I went for pilgrimage July last year
VO: What did you do in US the last time?
me: I had a baby
VO: ok, how many kids do you have?
Me: 2
VO: how old are they?
Me: 4 and a year 8 months
VO: Do you have the receipts
Me: Hands over my receipts
VO: How much did you pay
Me: A little over $4000
VO: where is that?
Me: Florida
VO: How did you pay?
Me: I used my MasterCard as a self paid patient
VO: so what do you wanna go and do now?
Me: I'm pregnant and I wanna have my baby
VO: where do you work?
Me: Bleep
VO: what's your position?
Me: Bleep
VO: Does your Husband have a valid visa?
Me: No it also expired same time as mine, but he's planning on renewing it too
VO: where does he work?
Me: Bleep
VO: So you wanna go back to same place?
Me: Yes I want to go back to Florida
By that time she was already picking the white paper
VO: when do you intend traveling?
Me: End of July to Early August
VO: Ok you can pick your passport next week, we will email you when it's ready anyway. Did you avoid Abuja office so won't be denied?
Me: Smiled and said I'm in Lagos for meeting and I wanted to try a different place. God bless you.

She didn't ask for correspondence with hospital/doc, budgetsheet, bank statement, itemised bill, zero balance, why I applied for visit visa in January, why my husband and son did not apply this time around. I expected a lot of questions but she came down easy on me. I'm thankful to God and to all the people on this thread who give information. Wish everyone the best of luck

hi dear, please can I get your email so I can PM you? thanks

This America sef! Na dulling place to get stuck in. The beauty is in visiting for a few weeks, once it has passed one month, body go de scratch you. I did 5mths when I went to have my baby. I was frustrated. Everybody will go to work. You will watch TV till ur eyes water. U will be so bored you will decide to go out.

Bus pass is like $10. If u buy food outside, expensive. If you window shop you will b tempted. The worst is when people know you are available and jobless. That is when they will be sending you on errands which you will be glad to go on because of the boredom. There was a day I sat at a train station just to watch people passing. The boredom Na die!

the way Naija will hungry u eh! Now imagine that you cannot come back home again. See punishment.
pls can I get your full email address? would like to send you an email to clarify certain things pls

No one actually knows. But I would advice you against hiding the fact that you were denied a US VIsa renewal on your Canadian visa form.

Dear VO,
thanks for your response but is there anything I can do to save the situation now? how do I prepare for the next interview?
Travel / Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by chi1145: 4:32pm On Jan 26, 2017
[quote author=abujaniv post=53126274]Hello chi1145. All applications are adjudicated on the totality of the situation. Visa officers size up the overall credibility and financial flexibility of each applicant. We are not doctors (well, some are), so we're not going to delve into every detail of a person's medical history. No one has a right to a visa.

my family and I got a B1/B2 visa June 2014 and at that time I wasn't pregnant. I became pregnant in Aug 2014 and had my baby in the US April 2015. upon visa renewal via dropbox in 2016 June our visa was refused on grounds that our visa was wrongly used for medical purpose and we were asked to go for fresh interview...we went for a fresh interview a few days ago and the VO still insisted I was pregnant at the time of the interview in June 2014. I offered to show a scan result which I did then showing i wasnt pregnant but he turned it down..and refused our visa under 214b...what can we do to get our visas back...what can I do to support my case because to be honest I wasn't pregnant at the time of the interview in 2014...and by calculations Aug-April is 9 months. I had a miscarriage in may and did an evacuation. in July I was asked to do a repeat scan to see if I was fine and I still have that scan to show as proof that i wasnt pregnant at the time of the interview...but the visa officers have refused to even see the scan results....please what can I do to get our visas back?

no I did not fill that i had a baby in the US in the drop box form...I just wish the VO won't bring up the birth issue in the next interview since we already dealt with that during drop box...I dint know about this forum before giving birth i would have gotten all necessary information to help me then...hoping for the best during my next interview.

to be honest I did not know I was meant to write a letter of "change of intent" would have done that...and the VO checked my reciept and confirmed everything was paid for in full....my fear is that they never give time to explain anything and I am trying to imagine the possible questions they'll throw at us when we go for the next interview....

[quote author=KaptainAfrika post=52680155]To all VO's who will ever interview you, you always intended to have your child in the US.

Why didn't you just use it for the purpose you collected the visa for (maybe vacation, conference etc.), then you would have been in the clear to have your child in the US later.

Did you send the now worthless 'change of intent' letter?

These guys value honesty, which is quite hypocritical, when you realise the lies that they themselves will tell to further their national interests.

At your next interview, explain why you didn't you use your visa for the purpose, you applied for. Show you paid all your bills and hope for the best.

Hi everyone, please I am new here and i have a few questions to ask...my family was issued a US visa early 2014 and when the visa was issued I wasn't pregnant, I had scan results that proved i wasnt...in mid 2015 I went to the US to give birth. In 2016 we decided to do a drop box to renew our visas but we were called to appear for another interview explaining why I stayed almost 3mnths. myself n my husband appeared and I told the VO I had a baby and the VO did not give any chance for us to explain futher and dint bother to check my Dr's report (showing the med issues I had)....to summarize it all, our renewal was refused on grounds that the visa B1/B2 was used for a wrong purpose and she asked us to go apply again as freshers....my question is "what are our chances of getting the visas again?
