Politics / Re: Jonathan Appoints Gbenga Daniel, Abacha’s Aide Varsities Council Chairmen by ChinemeOkpan: 10:42pm On May 05, 2015
Jonathan is going through a lot of pain. He is mourning.

He cannot believe that the Nigerian people have sent him out of Aso Rock. All his actions since his disgraceful loss at the polls is a representation of how this drunkard has misruled this great nation.

He is trying to create a chaotic situation for the government of Buhari after May 29 but as always, he underestimates the resoluteness of President Buhari

24 days to proper governance in Nigeria.

Jonathan can continue to appoint his corrupt friends. Buhari is just dancing and waiting to correct his errors

Politics / Re: Why Tribalism Will Never End On Nairaland by ChinemeOkpan: 10:41pm On May 05, 2015
meforyou1:
[s]How will it end when a man like soyinka will go to faraway USA and insult igbos for heaven's sake.
Soyinka's issue with igbos is 2-pronged with one never having anything to do with the igbos.
Soyinka is Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi's friend. And when a land issue ensued between Governor Amaechi of Rivers and First Lady Patience Jonathan, a native of Okrika in Rivers State, Soyinka naturally sided his friend. Which led him to calling her Shepopotamus.
The second is his rivalry with Chinua Achebe, an igbo man and a fellow writer. I am a writer myself, and know how deep and strong such rivalries can be. I will dissect the writing styles of both in the literature forum and explain the angst of Soyinka towards Achebe because Achebe's works are more accepted.
Soyinka doesn't hate Goodluck Jonathan. Have never critised Goodluck. Though Soyinka's criticisms don't matter much. He criticised IBB when IBB was ruling, till IBB established Federal Road Safety Commission for him and made him head. One, he did a poor job of it and was eventually removed, and two, his criticism of the administration died a natural death.
Back to the matter at hand. Why is he so bitter at igbos for voting Jonathan? We are not the only ones that did. South South did. Ekiti did. One or two states in the north did.
Soyinka just hate igbos because of Achebe, who is now late. I'm very sure it is because "There Was A Country" which I'm so glad Achebe wrote.[/s]

Barcanista, enough of this rhetoric. You impress no one with your baseless assumptions and equally daft conclusions.

You said you will criticize Buhari and his government, why dont you wait till he takes over before you start opening all these redundant threads?

Have you been mandated to open one anti-Buhari thread per day?

[s]My brother, APC is all about confusion. They lack these basic understanding and always refuse to learn from realities. Osun is so broke and highly indebted that BANKS have refused to give them more loan angry. Civil servants are on a 8moth streak without pay... They are just deceiving themselves.[/s]..

Enough of this castigation people!

Igbos are an important component of Nigeria and they have every right to make a case for equal representation at the presidential level

I actually respect Obiano for this proactive move.

I am very sure Igbos will be well represented in the incoming administration and I have no doubt Buhari will treat all Nigerians equally

He has forgotten so soon that its not business as usual with the oil companies. I can recall that there's a clause in the oil contracts which states that non-performing oil wells would be taken over by the FG, which means the oil company would have to prove beyond reasonable doubts that its oil block is performing, and that in itself is based on the premise that the revenue projections tally with the agreed benchmarks.

Its either you pay up or forfeit your oil block.

I was actually praying that APC supporters will not respond to his daft thread but I know Obiagelli couldnt sit down and watch him relay crap

These guys are really under estimating Buhari and I like it because his performance will be a shock to them.

Thanks for the mention Nne.
But how feasible is this?

This is still Nigeria.

Those huge sums I see up there have been there since time immemorial...
What tangible changes have we seen?

Even if Buhari and Osibanjo really wants this to fruition, are we going to turn a blind eye to the fact that there are Oligarchs up and around this country who get a kick from the sufferings of the common man?

Would they really just sit there and watch these funds being put to good use?

Not to mention the allocation to states and other capital projects we ought to face squarely.

This meal and money thing should be scrapped, imo.
I won't be surprised if it doesn't get to the rightful beneficiaries.

Sis, I am skeptical and rightly so.
I read GMB's interview.
It felt like he didn't want some oxes gored.

Could it be that they are the people who will eventually steer the ship of this nation?

Results will be produced. Yes. But at what price?

A lot of HOT air and pandering

Most of the issues you have raised are sociological submissions that can be addressed by well formulated and implemented economic policies.

Thankfully, the new President Elect is not part of this Oligarchy that you fear and has no personal interest in benefiting from their activities.

As a Nigerian, you have every right to make analytic inferences but they have to be based on factual evidence.

Right now, GEJ is your president. I will implore you to be patient till General Buhari assumes power and announces the exact methods he will utilize in effecting his party's manifesto.

[s]Forgive my miscalculation. You don't "give" oil companies what you think, the business is not based on guess work. If Nailja generates that much do you think we'll be crying 4 loans? Or do you think states will be crying for more funds? Lol[/s]

Conjectures and no sense in your submission.

This is a new government. New way of doing things.

Wait till Buhari takes over before you start complaining.

I think we are missing a key point here

PYO expanded on this issue on Channels TV

“We will give N5, 000 to the poorest 25 million over a phased period, if their children are enrolled in school and participate in immunization.

“So we are actually doing two things; we are giving stipends to the very poorest and ensuring that in order to earn that stipend they certify two conditions”, he said.

He further noted that the party decided on the 25 million figure because that is what they can deal with in the first phase, adding that “we are looking at phasing it over a period because it will cost about N1.35 trillion to do so if we do all 25 million at once.

He maintained that, if elected, the programme will be done in batches of 5 million people a year, adding that “depending on resources we can even do more”.

He said the N1.35 trillion they are proposing for the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme’ is not so much compared to the AMCON bailout of “persons who are in debt, many businesses and businessmen and it cost N5.7 trillion to do and that is a bailout of the relatively wealthy”.
