Hi there, It shouldn’t be a problem. There are other ways to show he’s your dad. Examples are: - stating it in your SOP - attaching your birth certificate (parents name usually show up on most) - Your dad stating you’re his son in his sponsorship letter etc NaturalKinzzy: 2 Likes |

Hi there, Please before you apply, pause and do a lot of research to familiarize yourself with the application process so you can put in a great application with few/no errors. There are a lot of resources on this page. If you go back to the beginning of the thread you will find a lot of info. Minimum required for proof of fund is 1 year tuition fee + $10,000 cad for a 1 year upkeep. This requirement could be higher depending on other factors. Students can work for 20hours per week while studying except if stated otherwise on their study permit Properties are not proof of funds but are important in your application because they serve as home ties. I do not understand your other questions, therefore I did not respond to them. All the best! cybertyrant: |

Hi there, Nobody gets rejected for ‘too much money’. You get rejected when you can’t show the source of the money, if if there are unexplained lump sum deposits in the account. Make sure you submitting supporting documents from your sponsor like: -Their employment letter/business registration documents -payslips -documents of assets they have eg land, if available -any other doc that shows their financially stable Cheers Bigdaddy001: |

Hi there, It’s very advisable to do a lot of research personally before embarking on this journey, there’s also a lot of info on this platform already. That being said, what program and level (Bsc/PGD/MSc) are you looking at? What do you mean by cheap? What’s your budget?Providing more info will help people better respond to you. Cheers. Hi there, There’s no rule that states that the GIC must reflect in your account, but please note that it’s still important to submit a solid statement of account from you or your sponsor in addition to the GIC. Cheers dearie: 1 Like |

Sorry to hear about your refusal. Looks like the application was not well put together. You can order your gcms notes via 3rd party sites(you don’t have to be in Canada, be a PR or citizen). Just type ‘order GCMS notes’ into google and it will give you many options to choose from. You can share the documents you submitted for the application to receive some advice before you GCMS note arrives. Cheers Creativeowos: 3 Likes |

Hi there, I’m guessing this is UBC. I doubt you’ll be able to open a bank account from Nigeria. Emailing the school won’t make you seem naive, just send a well composed message to graduate.awards@ubc.ca. They are in charge of graduate student awards and they respond quickly. Cheers olutoyiin: |

Your money will be refunded once you send the bank a copy of your visa rejection letter. It is not advisable to apply without showing any statement of account. The statement of account isn’t only there to show the current balance but to show your source of income and how stable it is. Cheers. KellyTech007: |

If your letter of acceptance has an issue, contact your institution to correct it and issue a correct one. You can upload the correct one via webform (you can google it) with a short letter of explanation and it will be added to your application. Cheers Bibianna1: 1 Like |

If you submit your application online (which is the recommended route) you’ll get a message 24-48 hours after the submission to go get your biometrics done. You’ll then have to book a date for giving your biometrics online (all instructions will be provided). Biometrics and medical exam venues are different! They are two different processes. You can choose to do an upfront medical or submit your application and wait for them to ask you to go do the medicals. But there are registered venues (panel physicians) where you go to for medicals. You have to go do the biometrics and medicals yourself. You can choose to book your biometrics and medicals same day if you want and if the dates are available (I recommend doing them on different dates) After the biometrics, they’ll upload your info to your portal. After the medicals they give you a paper which you upload to your portal if you’re doing upfront medicals. Cheers Ableman101: |

Hi, You can google SOP samples online, you might also find the below helpful. Info below was copied from @lekiboboe from an older thread Guidelines on How to write an SOP (Statement of Purpose) Most important thing: Avoid Plagiarism While writing SOP, the following things to be mentioned which will boost chances of convincing a VISA OFFICER and possibly getting a STUDY VISA APPROVAL are as follows: First of all, write ur name, address and your e-mail address at the TOP far right corner of your SOP. Your SOP will be addressed to the Deputy High Commission of Canada in NIGERIA Full Name Your Address email address To, The Visa Officer, Deputy High Commission of Canada, 4, Anifowose Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria Statement of Purpose for Canada Study Visa Dear Sir/Ma., 1. Introduce yourself in first paragraph. Write ur name (as written on your international Passport Data page) the qualification and Name of the program you are going for, the Program intake (Fall, Spring or Winter) and Program Duration. Write, what kind of person you are, your interests and personality etc. This may also include one line background of work & study you did earlier. This should be related to the course your are going to pursue. 2. Explain what do you know about the area of study you are applying for. Like HR, Marketing, Finance, IT, Multimedia, Engineering etc. Market trends, application of knowledge in work, organisations/roles where you can work after studying in this XYZ field and if possible, 1-2 real life example where you experienced this personally (in your current job or someone in family who works in this field etc.)This shows you are well read and know what you are getting yourself into. 3. Why this particular college/Univ. Explain ranking of the same or relevance of course being offered or if someone known is studying there etc. Mention positive points which you can gather from ex-student's testimonials and college website itself. Again, write in your own language and by your own understanding. 4. Why this Program in that School: Mention why you chose this program. Explain how courses (subjects) of this course will help you in your career, how some of these subjects you have learnt earlier (basic knowledge) and need better and upgraded knowledge about these (especially if applying for PG/masters), explain application of subjects in real job scenario etc. 5. Why Canada. Mention all points Canada is famous for like low crime rate, diversity (which helps in learning), livability and quality of life related statistics etc. Facts & figures help you here. Google a little 6.Travel history If u av not travelled bfor, state the reason why u av decided to travel at this point of ur life, and how important the program is to ur career & personal development back home. Also you might decide not to talk about this if you don't have a Travel History. 7. Employment/Work Experience Talk about your work experience here. Even if your NYSC PPA is the only place u have Work Experience in, talk about it. 8. Family Ties-Home ties U can talk about how children are apparent to family inheritance, and how u are obliged to take care of ur family (parent and siblings). U can attach their birth certificates Secondly, talk bout Landed Properties (Documents, deed of assignment, Deed of conveyance, survey plans and other important doc.) to of prove ur Hometies, also if you have a Job in Nigeria in which u gonna get back to after your study in Canada (Most Especially if the Job relates to the Program u are going for in Canada) 9. Proof of Means of Financial Support/Proof of Funds Mention that you have paid ur tuition fee or made a deposit of ur tuition fee and so so amount has bin set aside by your sponsor for ur Tuition (if not yet paid), so so amount for ur One year Living Expenses (might be more than one year) and so so amount for ur flight itinerary. 10. Summarize with reason of coming back to home country (Future Goals/Career Prospect): Now summarize all details by mentioning your career goals and what will you do post completing this course. Mention how this course will help you in making your career in your home country. Be passionate about job market of your home country and coming back to your country. Because "You'll not leave Canada after your studies" is one of the biggest reason for Student Visa refusal. 11. Conclusion U can end it like this or in ur own preferred sentence Dear Sir/Madam, I hope that you will find all my documents in proper order and I kindly request you to process my visa application as soon as possible. I am very much thankful to you for giving me your valuable time to process my student visa application. Your Sincerely, Write ur name (As Written on your International Passport Data Page) Note: Show proof (documents, picture ) on anything u talk about in ur SOP OneLocalMan: 12 Likes 5 Shares |

If you didn’t change your name officially, you don’t need to do anything extra. It’s not the name that shows you’re married, your marriage certificate is your proof of marriage. So if you still have your maiden name on the Passport and it matches the IELTS certificate, you’re good to go. If you’re trying to prove you’re married, including your marriage certificate is adequate. Cheers. Lishy: |
