Two African women said to be hookers were arrested on famed red-light area, Bangla Road in Patong, Phuket, Thailand on Saturday. after it was found they had overstayed their visas.

However, no details on how long the women had overstayed or how they managed to fund their stays has been forthcoming.

Patong Police Deputy Chief Lt Col Jessada Sangsuree confirmed the arrest of the two women following a report titled ‘Suppressing Human Trafficking and Alien Overstaying’ issued on Thursday, July 19 and addressed to Patong Police Chief Col Anocha Jindamane.

The report noted that Patong Police officers Lt Nikorn Chuthong and Lt Narubodin Pangsenson had placed two women under arrest while the officers were on patrol and “checking areas” along Bangla Rd.

The two women were named as Shaniyah Nyongonga, 31, and Latifah Hazziwa, 28, said to be from Uganda

Nyongonga was arrested and charged for illegally staying in the country after her permit-to-stay had expired, while Hazziwa was arrested and charged for illegally entering the country and for staying in the country without permission.

“WE ARE WORRIED THAT MORE AND MORE WOMEN ARE COMING HERE TO PHUKET, ESPECIALLY PATONG, AND ARE DOING THE SAME LIKE THIS,” COL JESSADA GUARDEDLY TOLD THE PHUKET NEWS.

“THE SAME IS HAPPENING IN OTHER AREAS LIKE PATTAYA. THEY ARRIVE AS IF ON A VACATION, BUT STAY LONGER,” HE ADDED.

According to a court official, the girl was sentenced on the island of Sumatra alongside her 17-year-old sibling, who was jailed for two years for sexually assaulting a minor.

The court official noted further that the girl had an abortion while she was six months pregnant and that her brother had raped her eight times last September.

The siblings were arrested in June after a male foetus was discovered at a palm oil plantation near Pulau village in Jambi province.

According to Indonesian law, abortion is a taboo but if it must be done, only in a situation where the Mother’s life is at stake or certain circumstances like rape.

It notes also that an abortion must be performed by a registered professional no later than six weeks into a pregnancy, and the woman must undergo counselling.

The girl was allegedly helped by her mother who is facing separate charges.

National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi has stated that after three years in the wilderness, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is understandably excited with possibility of hiding its irredeemably bad image under the heap of a new coalition.

This is coming on the background of the PDP insisting they would not .be swayed by any steps of resolution and fence mending beihg carried out by the ruling party

“Like the vulture, PDP sees every altercation as a potential opportunity for a feast.

“If PDP is not alleging wild conspiracies, they are threatening to boycott elections or announcing fake defections. What is clear with all these is that no matter how long a leopard lives, it cannot change its spots.

“What President Muhammadu Buhari and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of our Party are doing, persuading every aggrieved member not to leave the Party, is what responsible and sensible party leaders would do.

“Party politics is a game of number. And that game is addition. If the PDP had the same presence of mind in 2015, perhaps the calamity that befell them would have been averted.

“We challenge the PDP to face Nigerians on their own merit in 2019 and stop shopping around for supporters’, he stated.

A political leader and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Apapa local government area (Apapa Iganmu and Apapa LG), Omoba Niyi Aborishade, is dead.

The politician was killed yesterday, Saturday 21st of July, 2018, around Epe, after a reconciliation meeting organized by Lagos State PDP party leaders.

His corpse has been deposited at the mortuary as a police investigation to apprehend his killers has begun.

According to the command spokesman, CSP Chike Oti, in a statement on Sunday, what was supposed to be a peaceful political meeting of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) members, in Lagos state, regrettably ended in unnecessary bloodletting.

“The incident took place on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at about 1800hrs, during Lagos State PDP Visitation meeting at Igbosuku village, Eti-Osa LGA, attended by Lagos State and Local Government PDP Chairmen.

“However, towards the end of the meeting, fracas broke out between contending factions of the party; one faction for the State Chairman, Hon. Moshood Adegoke Salvador and the other for the Eti-Osa LG Chapter Chairman, Engr Kehinde Fasasi.

“In the melee, one Hon. Borishade Adeniyi, the Apapa LG PDP Chapter Chairman, recognised also as the Doyen of PDP LG Chapter Chairmen in Lagos State, was allegedly shot and injured on the leg.

“He was rushed to First Consultant Hospital, Obalende, Lagos, where he was treated but eventually died. Corpse of the deceased is deposited in the hospital mortuary. Two other persons allegedly injured during the clash, are also receiving treatment in a hospital in Ajah”, he said.

In a swift reaction, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Imohimi Edgal, directed the Area Commander in-charge of Area ‘J’ Elemoro, to ensure the arrests of all those involved in the crime. Pursuant to the directive, five (5) of the principal suspects were arrested; viz:
1. Engr Kehinde Fasasi, chapter chairman, Eti-Osa LG,
2. Hon. Rotimi Kujore, PDP chapter chairman, Lagos Island LG
3. Alhaji Fatai Adele, PDP chapter chairman, Mushin LG,
4. Mr. Ismail Abiola, PDP chapter chairman, Amuwo Odofin LG and
5. Dr. Amos Alabi Fawole, PDP chapter chairman, Surulere LG. ..

The five suspects have been transferred to SCIID, Panti, for further investigation. The CP is said to be worried about the use of firearms and the frequency of violence involving the PDP in the state.

It will be recalled that on the 12/07/2018, two suspected party thugs, Wale Oye, 37 and Ganiyu Ajiboluwa, 47, were arrested at Festac Extention by Apple Junction, Amuwo Odofin with two pump action rifles given to them by their hirer, one Hon. Dipo Olorunrinu, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State House of Assembly, to escort him to a political rally. The said Hon. Dipo Olorunrinu was arrested and they are all helping the police in the investigation of the case.

The Police Commissioner warns that no political party will be allowed to truncate the peace in the state. He therefore calls on all political parties in Lagos to disarm their members as nobody without necessary authorisation is permitted to bear firearms. He added that henceforth, political party leaders will be liable for the actions of their supporters.
