Please explain the bolded part above.

You said after the mechanic did his job your vehicle has been shifting well but anytime you scan you still get those exact same 3 codes?

The shifting has been good after the mechanic serviced all three gear sensors on Tuesday but the check engine light is still on. I cleared the error code but after driving for 15mins, the check engine light comes back on and when I scan, it still brings the three error codes..P0780, P0757, P1732

After you changed the solenoid b & c did you experience any type of difference in the way the vehicle shifts even if it’s for a moment?

If you didn’t experience any change then make sure you used a good replacement, your wiring harness is properly secured and you used original atf-dw1 transmission fluid in yiur gearbox only.

I experienced changes in the shifting, I traveled with the car and came back and it by started again 2 weeks ago

I took the car to the mechanic on Tuesday and he serviced all the sensors in the gear box and tested all three and they were working fine and since then the shifting has been good but the error code keeps is still coming up when I scan

Good afternoon everyone,

I drive a 2004 Honda Accord, 4 plug engine, I use the recommended gear oil and do routine maintenance. I changed my gear oil in August last year and in December I did another oil change because of these 3 code.

P0757
P0780
P1732

I experience delay shifting sometimes when changing from gear 2 to gear 3, a very light jerk sometimes when changing from gear 2 to 3, check engine light on and blinking of D light occasionally and if I turn of the car and start it again, the blinking stops.

Please what do I do because I don't want my mechanic to guess randomly and I have changed the solenoid but it still persists

What's wrong with you vehicle

The car doesn't shift from 2-3 with ease, it delays before shifting to hear 3, and this morning the D light was blinking and after I noticed it, I parked, waited for like 5mins, and restart the car and it stopped, I recently changed the gear oil and I use the Honda recommend oil

If that's the only fault code you are having, then I think changing the EVAP canister was a wrong move.

P0443: Purge Solenoid circuit malfunction.

The purge solenoid valve is in your engine bay.
Left rear side of the engine. (4-cyl)
Check that there is no damage to the wires and harness is properly plugged in.
If ok, then the valve itself may need replacement. Its functioning needs to be tested.

Hit me up if you need someone to do these for you.

My 2005 EOD rev high and Jerk while shifting from D1 to D2

Boss, I'm not a mechanic but I had the same issue with my car, I will tell you what I did for mine to stop

- First scan the car
- service the nozzles
- clean the throttle body
- check the throttle cable if it's set properly because is has a recommendef setting which most people don't know
- look for a good Honda technician to set the the throttle position sensor to the correct degree or position or change the sensor completely
- make sure all the sensors on the throttle body are in good working conditions
- lastly, service your gear if it's due and make sure you are using the correct Honda and original recommended ATF for your gear

These are the things I did and my car stopped jerking totally, I hope it helps.

Still ensure that the thermostat is working.....the amount of money thermostat don save me during this post-covid can't be quantified. Imagine my fuel economy jumping from 8mpg to 13mpg just by installing thermostat and using radiator coolant, isn't that a fortune

I don't have a thermostat neither do I use radiator coolant, my mechanic keeps telling me that I don't need a thermostat, I think I will get one and also use a coolant

Apart from the gearbox valve body (which can get blocked by debris) and the clutch packs (fiber) your gearbox solenoids too can cause drivability issues whenever they develop electrical problems or they get clogged due to bad fluid.

In the picture below all the gearbox solenoids and switches for the EOD 4 plugs is shown.

The BIG switch is AT CLUTCH PRESSURE SOLENOIDS VALVES B & C (one unit with two heads/wire plugs on the front of the gearbox facing the cooling fan) I put a picture of the switch too

while the SMALL switch is AT CLUTCH PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID A (single unit on top of the gearbox directly under the battery tray) I also put a picture of this switch

So if you scan your vehicle and any of the codes point to any one of these solenoids directly you can go shared and clean or change them to fix your problems.

I had a technician check it out and noticed two things, one of the solenoids socket on top of the gear box that is directly under the battery was bad and also one black cover that is small on top of the gear box was blocked with sand and all, it was cleaned and the socket was changed and after test driving and scanning again, the error codes disappointed.

But one particular code still keeps popping up, P0443, I have changed the evap purge valve but it's still showing.

Thanks for your input

The temperature going above usual mark might be as a result of weak fan. Do a visual inspection of your fans to make sure they are both up to speed. Happened to me last week. I parked at ShopRite for about 15minutes, I noticed my temperature needle was higher than normal. I opened the bonnet and discovered one fan wasn't working, I gave it a little tap and it started working... I quickly went and replaced it. Now the temperature needle has come back to its normal point.

I guess the needle being on the half way mark was because I was in traffic for more than 50mins and I also discovered that the front driver side tyre was going down and when I checked the fans, they were working fine.

I drove the car today and yesterday and the temperature was normal
Car Talk / Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by CjEmmar(m): 6:30pm On Jun 01, 2022
Conner44:

NO

It’s not normal. When you start the engine it should idle as high as 1.5k-1.8k rpm and gradually drop to between 750-800rpm when the vehicle is warmed up.

When you put your ac on it should dip to like 650-700rpm and immediately climb back up to the initial 750-800rpm and hold steady. Same with when you put the gear in D with your foot on the brakes.

While you’re turning your power steering either left or right the idle from 750-800rpm should climb to 850-900rpm and immediately drop back down to the initial 750-800rpm and hold steady as well.

That is the proper idling sequence for the EOD that hasn’t been abused.

From what you described, I guess my engine RPM is fine because after 10-15mins, the rpm stays within 600-800rpm

Go to your mechanic and tell them to service your gearbox big switch. If it doesn’t work then change it. I hope you used the recommended fluid during change or else you have bigger issues.

I use the recommended Honda fluid, also will a high rpm cause it, because at first start in the morning, the rpm will be around 1800 then it gradually drops to 1000rpm, then after driving for about 30-40mins, it drops to 600-800 rpm

I am currently facing a similar but more severe issue.

I am also a first time car owner, here are my issues:

1. Got a 2008 Nigerian used honda accord car on 22nd Dec 2021 for N1.8m
2. I went with a friend who has been driving honda cars for over 11yrs, he brought his mechanic that has been fixing his car for over seven years.
3. Him and the mechanic confirmed the car ok before I paid, though the car was making noise but the car dealer convinced us that it was just a catalyst that we need to buy.
4. The mechanic drove the car to his workshop to do the necessary servicing and to fix the catalyst, I transferred 120k to him to buy and change everything necessary, he checked the legs, fixed new catalyst, changed the tires and changed oil using 5W-30 oil since we could not get the 5w-20.
5. After servicing the car that same day, the noise reduced but still loud, the car also vibrate on ac and on idle, I took the car back to the mechanic, he was afraid to tell me that it is an engine problem.
6. So I called the car dealer, he brought his mechanic and they confirmed that the noise is coming from the oil pump and top, I gave him 50k to change it on 28th December 2021.
7. On 20th January 2022 the same sound returned, this time it was louder, I took it to the mechanic and it was the oil pump again, this time, the price of oil pump has increased because I went with them to buy it myself, I spent 60k to fix the oil pump again on 25th Jan 2022
8. Fast forward to yesterday, 6th Feb 2022, the sound returned again.
9. Today 7th January 2022, I took it to the same mechanic, he said the parts seller sold bad oil pump to me that I should tell him to change it for me, the parts dealer is insisting that the oil pump he sold to me was ok.
9. The parts dealer brought his mechanic, they call the Mechanic 'Awilo' at Willoughby here at Oyingbo, Awilo said that he'll have to dismantle the engine in order to confirm every fault with the car, but he's suspecting that the crankshaft will be bad, that I should budget N200k.
10. I went back to the mechanic, and he advised me that I should not allow them to dismantle the engine that he is very sure that the problem is the oil pump.
10. With all the repairs that has been going on, the car still make a very loud vibration except when on motion, the ac cools well only when on motion or when the weather is cold i.e morning and evening time

Dear Nairalanders, I am regretting the fact that I used my money to go and buy wahala worth N1.8m, you guys should please help me with what I can do. I live around Oyingbo, Lagos.

Good evening sir, I must say that I know how you feel because I was in a similar situation.
One thing you must know is that, Honda is a very reliable and dependable car.
If you want to enjoy your car, save up and buy a tokunbo engine.

When I bought my car, I had issue with the alternator, battery, acceleration, the car will go off while driving engine was smoking, ac issue and all this issue started manifesting after a month of use.

I luckily met a mechanic who told me to change the engine when the car broke down at redeem camp.

After changing the engine up till today, I am enjoying my car and this is my seven months use after changing the engine.

I can recommend the guy who sold the engine at ladipo and the mechanic who worked on mounting the new engine.

Good afternoon house,

I have a 2004 Honda Accord v4, I have noticed that when about to change to the second gear, it jerks. I bought naija used back in March this year.

Because of this jerking, I accelerate soft and once it enter gear 2, I accelerate hard, and it won't jerk if I accelerate soft

The gear selection is fine, it doesn't slip to neutral or does anything funny, only the jerking.

Also note that the jerking can occur maybe 2-4 time in a day. And sometimes it doesn't jerk at all.

I recently replaced the old engine to a tokunbo engine late last month when the engine was smoking and consuming oil. The mechanic that works on the car said the engine is gone.

After the engine change, for like 2 weeks I didn't experience any jerk but recently I have started noticing the jerk when about to enter gear 2.

I also noticed that the way it jerks with the new engine is mild and not hard compared to when I was using my former engine.

I use the recommended ATF oil for honda because the former owner doesn't and I have serviced the gear once.

Also, I checked the gear oil this morning and it is well gauged.

Kindly assist please.

GAZZUZZ:

1. Fuel pressure/ Engine tune up required.

Check fuel pump, clean injectors and plugs decarbonize if you have the means.

2. 3. 4.

Check powersteering pump for air leaks at the supply route, usually an "O" ring leak. Also change powersteering oil.

Finally ensure idle speed is not static and varies according to load.

GAZZUZZ thank you for the response, as you mentioned, they were the culprit and it has stopped and starts normally in the morning. But the challenge I'm facing now is that many places I have gone, they don't have "O" ring.

Please can you link me to someone or anyone or direct me to where I can get it.( I reside in Ogun state)

Good morning house,

I have been following this thread for years now.

I have a 2004 Honda Accord and I have noticed the following;
1: whenever I start the car early in the morning, it doesn't start smoothly at first attempt and after driving for some time and I turn off the engine and start, it responds fine. This doesn't happen before and it happens every morning.

2: Once I start my car in the morning, and I want to drive out, I hear a whinning noice when turning the steering and after driving for sometime, the whinning sound stops.

3: whenever I drive without the AC on at very low speed, the steering responds fine, but immediately I turn on the AC, the steering becomes hard at low speed or when applying brakes.

4: when driving and I am stuck in traffic with AC on and I want to move to another lane, the steering will become hard, even sometimes when the AC is not on, the steering becomes hard atimes.

I was told it's leakage, which I have worked on, but it's still the same.
Please I need your help here.
