IVORY2009:

If we do all our import frm "China" we would save lot of straim on local currency, have you forgotten so soon how substandard Chinese goods are? The phone you are currently using is it a Chinese phone? Be senceria with yourself, the poster only measured the merit of the agreement, but failed to include the demerit of the agreement.

Sir there are equally standard Chinese goods, it depends if SON decides to do their job. In most Western countries 80% of goods on their shelves are made in China.

Only someone who lacks understanding of the rudiments of Economics will applaud this move. This is totally counterproductive and it will make no economic sense in the long run. For your information, this policy will perpetuate Nigeria in her already import dependency trap. They have only succeeded in dividing Nigeria and China into Consumption/import dependent economy and Production/export economy respectively. Any policy that cannot strengthen our export base in relation to import is useless for now. What we need is economy diversification via import substitution strategy of industrialization.

It is obvious the OP and indeed the FG do not understand the economic implications of this especially in the long run, hence the jubilation.

The question you should ask yourself is do we currently have the platform or enabling environment to be export based as you have suggested, the answer Is No. We have to first build our infrastructures and do we have the expertise to do that on our own, the answer again is No!
So please let's sign this contracts with people that can help us and thereafter if subsequent Govt feel we are now capable they can review the contract with China. The truth is that we Nigerians assume what we are not, ordinary decent artisans like bricklayers and painter's, we have to import cotonou boys if you want a perfect job and you are here complaining losing to China.

Politics / Re: US Releases Gory Report On Nigeria by Classiqharry: 2:49pm On Apr 15, 2016
ojuolu:
There are important questions we should asked ourselves.
1. Why now? why is this report coming out now that the president and Nigerian government have decided to romance China?
Answer: Because US know the implication and the import of what Nigeria is trying to do. The impact on our Economy as the most populated black race in the world, the largest market economy subsahara is better imagine than describe. US is just trying albeit very hard to scare investors away and paint Nigeria bad in the eyes of the world. When BH were busy committing unbelievable crimes against the Nigerian people and state where were these reporters?
2. Why is US not talking about our economy and policies?
Answer: We went to them, they could only unleashed IMF conditionalities and Gay laws on us in exchange for any help. The devil gift you will say.
3. Why the scanty remark to the anti corruption war going on?
Answer: Any positive comment about this government with our present ally with china considering the ongoing cold war between US and China is not good for the image of US. As much as US tried not to, they have to acknowledge that we are fighting and winning the war on terrorism. GEJ government asked US for help, they declined. The excuse is that the government was corrupt and not serious about fighting Terrorism. PMB asked them for help, they only promised and never delivered. I remember this two faced country call US and the story about Genocide in Rwanda.
US will do everything in its power to ensure we do not attain self sufficiency. Our economy remain vulnerable, our currency remain weak, and the brain drain continues as people run away from the hopelessness the country represent.
Fellow Nigerians, no matter our political affiliation and inclinations, let us be conscious of the fact that our continued existence as a country is not in the interest of the modern colonists. They want a fragmented and weakened nation both economically and politically, even morally so that they can continue to dominate and plunder us.
Are there no extra Judicial killings in US? what of war crimes?
US should leave us alone and let us fight for our destiny, our land and our future.

I have been in majek area in ajah and it has been about 1 hour of light over the last 8 days.

Totally unacceptable. The queue for petrol na die.
This was not the change we voted for, I live in Thomas Estate Ajah for the last 5 days they flash for 10sec take it for 6 to 9 hrs, reflash for another 10sec. . . Just like that for 5 days. This people have no sense of shame, to dehumanised fellow citizens like animals. Why don't they switch the dam switch off if they have no electricity for us, why torment us.

This is more like it, rather than telling us you are not a miracle worker and that queues will persist till May. We need hope to cling onto, in the event of none, you are inviting anarchy.
Sports / Re: Player Rating: Nigeria Vs Egypt by Classiqharry: 9:45am On Mar 26, 2016
Thanks for that observations, I thought I was alone on that. The constant hoffing and puffing of the ball into the sky by our players was painful to watch, the 2nd half was better though, but for the calibre of players in super eagles, it shouldn't be happening. I lost count of wasted opportunities due to constant balloon of ball to our attackers quote author=Oghumu1 post=44119904]Musa deserve a 2/10 . let someone introduce foreign football to SIASIA so he can change this dry pattern of football Musa and co love playing. We don't have any tall striker, so why crossing the ball any slight opportunity?? Can't they hold possession of the ball like MIKEL?? And play a calm football then knock into their box create a goal opportunity then score. Greedy players, they just dy dribble anyhow, lack communication.[/quote]

The Guinea team are just walking all over our midfield. Oliver seems to me a very poor coach, our boys are heavy and can hardly string two passes together. Very painful to watch.
