Politics / 8 Reasons Why You Should Not Vote For Muhammadu Buhari by Clementor(m): 5:18am On Feb 15, 2015
1) He is incompetent: Since he left power about 31 years ago, he could not grow his business to raise enough money to purchase his own INEC nomination form. He therefore cannot manage Africa's largest economy.
2) His alliance with notorious political thieves: He's generally perceived as a man that has zero tolerance for corruption, but the folks sponsoring his campaign are known government thieves who stole and are still stealing from their State treasure. How will Buhari "settle" them legally if he becomes president?
3) His Age: when Buhari became Governor of the then Northeastern State in August, 1975, I was only 4yrs old. When he became Head of State in December, 1983, I was 12yrs. Now I'm 44yrs old he wants me to vote him to become my president in a country of 75% youth.
4) He clearly shows the first sign of Alzheimer's disease: he can't remember his phone numbers, his running mate's name, where his certificate is and most recently his party's name.
5) His party, APC: nearly all their gubernatorial candidates in the north and the echelon and policy makers are PDP drop outs. For a party that preach "change", should they not have gone for fresh, vibrant and young blood? Especially since they want to "fight" corruption. If I change my name will it change who I am?
6) His Educational qualification and his relevance to today's hi-tech world: Nigeria is blessed with great minds, highly proficient individuals and well read academics. Buhari with the kind of result he paraded is certainly not the kind of leader our great nation deserve. Nigeria has been ruled by incompetent and largely unlearned people. That's why we're in this tragedy. We can no longer have the worst of us ruling the best of us.
7) He has no strategy: He's been asked severally during TV interviews the "how questions". I did not hear any strategy from him except "we'll fight corruption". When he was military head of state, he and Idiagbon used FORCED and high handedness to do what they did. They made decrees and used the military not the judiciary to enforce them. Now there's a democratic system in place. He cannot make decrees or use the military to try and kill people. How will he fight corruption without militry brutality that's he's used to? How? How? How? Buhari has no "how" answer. No Strategy!
cool He is an imposter: suddenly buhari has become a christian, he now goes to church, met christian leaders and receiving bible as gift all in the name of wining election. the boko boyz won't call him an infidel because he is their 'oga at the top'.

Politics / Why INEC Decided To Postpone Nigeria General Elections by Clementor(m): 4:27pm On Feb 07, 2015
The Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) has decided to postpone
the 2015 General Elections. »
Calls had been made » for the elections to be
postponed and INEC had said on Friday,
February 6 » , that it would reach a final
decision on Saturday, 7.
An official close to INEC told The Associated
Press » that the commission decided to shift
the polls in order to allow a newly constituted
multinational force to secure the North-Eastern
region of the country which has been suffering
attacks from terrorist sect, Boko Haram.
The multinational force consists of troops from
Chad, Niger and Cameroon which have also
suffered attacks from the sect.
The postponement will also give INEC more
time to distribute millions of Permanent
Voters Cards » (PVC) to prevent mass
disenfranchisement among Nigerians.
The poll shift was opposed by the Council of
State » and US Secretary of State, John
Kerry » after an initial call was made by
National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki » .

Islam for Muslims / 8 Facts You Need To Know About Islam And Terrorism by Clementor(m): 11:27am On Feb 07, 2015
In the wake of the Paris terror attacks, as we debate the role of Islam in Europe, of mainstream Islam in the context of radical Islam, and of the nexus between orthodox Muslim beliefs and terrorism, I wanted to reacquaint myself with some basics. How many Muslims are there in the world? How do beliefs vary by countries? Can we quantify, based on polling and other data, how many Muslims believe in concepts that are at odds with modernity?
We can, it turns out. And with some precision.
Here are eight key facts that should ground our debates.
1. There are 1.6 billion Muslims in the world. That's 23 percent of the world's population. And somewhere close to 1.6 billion of these Muslims have not committed an act of terror, nor have they directly facilitated any terrorist act. So it's absolutely true to say that (in the context of terrorism) not only are most Muslims peaceful, but almost every Muslim alive bears no direct culpability for terrorist acts.
More Muslims live in Asia than in the Middle East, according to Pew Research. India and Pakistan have about 350 million Muslims between them; the Middle East-North Africa region has 317 million. There are 43 million Muslims in Europe, and 3.5 million Muslims in the United States. There are more Muslims in Indonesia than in any other country in the world, although Pakistan will have that distinctionby 2030.
2. European Muslims are more moderate on sharia law.Eighty-four percent of Muslims in South Asia, 77 percent of percent of Muslims in Southeast Asia, and 74 percent of Muslims in the Middle East and North Africa believe that sharia law should be official law in their respective countries. Only 18 percent of Muslims in Europe believe that sharia law should be enshrined in addition to (or in lieu of) the existing law.
3. Some Muslims — including the tiny fraction who commit acts of terror — are immersed in an environment that permits and nourishes the core beliefs they cite as reasons for acting as they have. For example: 2.3 percent of Muslims in Europe believe that people who leave the Muslim faith should be executed. By contrast, 63 percent of Muslims in South Asia share that belief, as do 44 percent of Muslims in the Middle East, and 20 percent of Muslims in Southeast Asia.
4. Just north of ten percent of Muslims worldwide support and sanction religously motivated violence against civillians in at least some contexts. That's about 195 million, according to the most accurate pollingof Muslim beliefs.
I could not find any polling about the percentage of Jews or Christians who support violence against civillians for violations of religious codes. Perhaps we should start asking before we draw any conclusions about the uniqueness of Islam in the modern world. Did a substantial minority of Catholics support Irish Republican Army violence in Northern Island? Did they condone it, at least?
5. The vast majority of the victims of Islamic terrorism are themselves members of the Muslim faith. This is a tragic but undeniable truth.
6. The chances that an American or a European — of any faith — will be victimized by an Islamic terrorist is vanishingly small.
7. There are seeming contradictions in how much Muslims support women's rights. In Europe, 44 percent of Muslims think that women should at all times submit to their husbands, but 88 percent believe that women ought to choose for themselves whether they should wear a veil in public. Outside of Europe, strong majorities of Muslims believe that women must obey their husbands and wear their veils outside their home. On other issues — homosexuality, divorce, suicide, and extramarital sex — practicing Muslims across the world are uniformly conservative.
8. There are big geographic differences in how people interpret the truth of the Islamic faith. In 32 of the 39 countries surveyed, half or more Muslims say there is only one correct way to understand the teachings of Islam. In the United States, nearly six in ten Muslims think there are many ways to interpret Islam.
You might try to fit these facts into a simple thesis about Islam, terrorism, and the West. Maybe Islamic terrorism is an existential threat to modernity. Maybe Islam is at war with itself. But these theses seem overly simplistic and fail to ring true.
Before we draw easy conclusions, we have a lot more hard work to do.

Romance / Confession Of A Lady. by Clementor(m): 7:39am On Jan 20, 2015
During lunch at work
lastweek, I ate 3 plates
of beans (which I know I
shouldn’t). When I got
home, my husband
seemed excited to see
me
and exclaimed
delightedly; Darling I
have a surprise for
dinner tonight.
He then blindfolded me
and led me to my chair
at the dinner table. I
took a seat and just as
he was about to remove
my blindfold, the
telephone rang. He made
me
promise not to touch the
blindfold until he
returned and went to
answer the call.
The beans I had
consumed were still
affecting me and the
pressure
was becoming
unbearable, so while my
husband was out of the
room I seized the
opportunity, shifted my
weight to one leg and
let one go. It was not
only loud, but it smelled
like a
fertilizer truck running
over a skunk in front of a
garbage dump!
I took my napkin from
my lap and fanned the
air around me
vigorously. Then, shifting
to the other leg, I ripped
off three more. The
stink was worse than
cooked cabbage. Keeping
my ears carefully
tuned to the
conversation in the other
room, I went on
releasing
atomic bombs like this
for another few minutes.
The pleasure was
indescribable! Eventually
the telephone farewells
signaled the end of my
freedom, so I quickly
fanned the air a few
more times with my
napkin, placed it on my
lap and folded my hands
back on it feeling very
relieved and pleased
with myself. My face
must have been the
picture of innocence
when my husband
returned,
apologising for taking so
long.
He asked me if I had
peeked through the
blindfold, and I assured
him
I had not. At this point,
he removed the
blindfold. To my utmost
surprise, twelve dinner
guests were seated
around the table, with
hand holding their
noses!
Love y'all
good mornin
Romance / A Love Story Of A Unilag Babe And A Bus Conductor. by Clementor(m): 7:33am On Jan 20, 2015
Something interesting happened on my way to
Oshodi this morning.
At the park this rough mean-looking conductor
also known as “agbero” in Yoruba was screaming
for passengers, his vernacular oscillating between
Yoruba and pidgin English. “Oshod! Oshod!” He
shouted angrily as I along with some other
passengers scuttled for seats, decided not to take
my car out to avoid the Monday morning Traffic.
There was this beautiful young lady who couldn’t
throw caution and decorum to the wind but
waited patiently until the bus was almost filled.
Then she pleaded to sit by the agbero until
somebody came down then she would pay for a
proper seat. The agbero didn’t even look at her
pretty face, he hissed and shouted to the driver
to move that why didn’t she rush when others
were rushing.
The girl started pleading in Yoruba and clean
‘oyinbo’ english; “please, ejó, help me out sir, I
know you are a good man, never mind all this
shout you have been shouting (people burst into
laughter). Let me sit by your side please”. Finally
with much squeezing of face the agbero relented
and she sat beside him. It was a tight squeeze
but she didn’t complain but rather started
praising the agbero.
He in turn started teasing her, speaking (and
sometimes spitting by mistake) into her face but
the girl never looked away, she never let the
smile leave her face. He asked her where she
worked and she replied that she was a student in
the University of Lagos (UNILAG) studying
accounting.
He teased her in Yoruba about her boyfriend and
car (maybe asking why her boyfriend didn’t drop
her at her destination…she laughed it off and
continued to gist with the guy in Yoruba. When
she reached her junction the agbero alighted the
bus for her to come down. She did and paid her
transport fare, then the agbero told her to give
him a peck on the cheek for being so
‘gentlemanly’.
At this point some of us became indignant, haba!
He had been teasing her since, he should let her
go. Another argument almost ensued between
the agbero and the passengers although it was
not as if the agbero was really serious, he told
her to go. Then it happened! She jumped forward
and gave him a peck on the cheek! We all
shouted, the agbero was quiet out of surprise.
She then waved bye and ran down to her street.
The driver and other people started to hail the
agbero, see hailing! The guy was just forming
boss, saying he knew he was irresistible etc and
others were yabbing (taunting) him, some were
yabbing the girl and we moved on and suddenly
the bus was quiet, show over. Then the agbero
put his head down and became uncharacteristi
cally quiet. The driver soon asked the guy why he
wasn’t calling out bus-stop abi the girl don do am
jazz (cast a spell on him).
The agbero said something in Yoruba and then
his voice became emotional and believe it or not
HE STARTED CRYING. Others were now consoling
him in Yoruba. When I asked what the problem
was, the lady beside me explained that the
agbero said he just realised he would never be
able to get a girl like that in his life because he’s
an uneducated bus conductor and she was going
to be a graduate.
He was weeping because he knew no girl of her
class might ever do to him what that girl just did,
to touch a dirty person like himself; that the girl
is nice and well brought-up and if he had money
he would have chased after her. So the
passengers were consoling him in Yoruba that he
would go higher in life and be able to marry a
girl like that. He should not cry because it was
not the end of the road for him.
That really touched me. For a moment in that
agbero’s life, his facade of a street thug fell away
and he was a vulnerable emotional aspiring young
man, just like everybody else.
