Five Reasons Why Adelabu Lost Oyo State

In a highly disappointing twist of events, the APC gubernatorial candidate in Oyo state lost to PDP Seyi Makinde in what is not so much of a surprise to political analysts in the state. The issues that led to his woeful performance can be summarized into 5 major reasons;

1. First Class Arrogance
Many people on the streets of Ibadan accused Adelabu of being arrogant. Many said he was constantly boastful and never respect party elders. There was the claim that many his relatives and families didn’t receive any assistance from him all through his days in CBN. And after his recent loss at the polls, it was reported that he has been abusing party elders for not delivering on their promises. Adelabu set himself up for disgrace through his behaviors and he has always carried himself around like a Lord of other people’s manor.

2. Falsified Religion
Many who knew Bayo Adelabu in Abuja during his days at the CBN is said to be a member of RCCG and was at various times seen in churches in Ibadan with his wife Oluseyi. Those close to his family say, his kids bear Christian names.
One of the unanswered questions is why has Adelabu never sojourned on the holy pilgrimage to Mecca despite his accomplishments in life if truly he were a Muslim. These lies and deceits infuriated the Oyo state League of Imams and Muslim Communities, especially in Saki areas and environs. Coupled with the promise Ajimobi made to CAN that he would transfer power to a Christian.

3. Transfer of aggression from Constituted Authority

Adelabu suffered from the sins of the incumbent Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi who many say is constantly very condescending to both old and young. Many who think Adelabu will mirror the behavior of Ajimobi decided not to support Adelabu. Ajimobi who had become largely unpopular since his outburst to students and demolition of Ayefele’s house came to the reality of the situation when he lost the Senatorial seat in Oyo State. Ajimobi is known to give all state contracts to his children and in laws and already signed a pact with Adelabu for continuity.

4. Abandonment of Party Structure and co Guber contestants

Adelabu didn’t make any effort to reconcile with other candidates that were forced to step down for him by Asiwaju Tinubu and Sheu Ajimobi. He repeatedly bragged that he would win the elections without the support of Tegbe the preferred candidate who had been to all the 33 local governments in Oyo State and received the support and prayers of relevant stakeholders. Adelabu became overtly confident of Asiwaju Tinubus support for reasons only known to him forgetting that Oyo state isn't Osun.

5. Was desperate to cover his fraud in CBN

Bayo Adelabu who was a former CBN Deputy Governor is under EFCC investigation due to fraud with the former Minster of Petroleum Diezani Alison-Madueke and a former MD of a first generation bank. Adelabu was also known to have made a fortune from racketeering and round tripping during the dollar scarcity period. It was discovered EFCC was closing in on Adelabu when he made a deal to resign his job at the apex bank. His case is currently being handled and desperate measures are in place to suppress it by a certain detective called Akpan and renowned hatchet man Zaccheus Adelabu who was the immediate past commissioner for finance in Oyo State.

Bayo Adelabu the APC Governorship candidate in Oyo State in the just concluded elections has been abusing leaders of party for making him lose the just concluded elections. He claimed the leaders who collected money still didn’t deliver their various political constituencies.

Our sources also said Dayo Iyaniwura who is one of Adelabu’s main allies was caught in his many rage yesterdays. Our sources claim he had attacked the Governor’s PA during an argument which resulted to a fist fight between the men.

Sources close to the governor also said Bayo Adelabu rained unprintable and abusive words on Tegbe when both of them met at Ajimobi’s residence yesterday after the elections on Sunday. Adelabu accused Tegbe of not supporting him and claimed Tegbe’s team worked against him during the campaign and that was what made him lose the elections. Bayo Adelabu, who many said didn’t reconcile with the candidates who were forced to step down and that he had all it takes to win the election.

The Source also claimed that Adelabu had at various times said Tegbes team was inconsequential and he will win without them even though Tegbe had canvassed and built a formidable team in all 33 local governments in Oyo State.

Bayo Adelabu lost the gubernatorial election which held on Saturday to Seyi Makinde with a difference of over 150,000 votes.
