My mood must have been noticeable, for as soon as I entered the house, Joyce came to my room.
‘And where were you coming from?’ she asked.
‘I visited a friend,’ I replied.
‘It’s that lady, right? That lady you were talking to the other day?’
‘What if she’s the one?’ I parried.
‘So, that’s how you’re going to use and dump me, right?
I was irritated. ‘No one is using and dumping anyone,’ I said.
‘You can’t treat me so selfishly,’ she said in emotion-laden tone. To my surprise, she came to hold my shirt in that I-will-not-agree manner.
‘Joyce, for God’s sake, what’s the meaning of this?’
She pulled the cloth more.
‘Oh, please, for God’s sake, let’s be reasonable.’
She put her head on my chest and started crying. I was scared. If anybody should see us like that, what would I say?
‘Alright, Joyce, please, stop crying,’ I pleaded. I had to use my most mollifying tone. ‘Please, I’m sorry, calm down.’ I wrapped my hands around
her and petted her like a baby. I then led her to sit on one of the two plastic chairs in the room.
‘I said I’m sorry,’ I repeated.
She used the back of her hand to dab her face. I offered her my handkerchief.
‘I’m sorry,’ I said again. ‘But you’re taking this thing too far. Ehn, you’re taking it too far.’
She kept mute, gazing soberly at the floor.
‘Joyce, listen. Please, listen. We cannot go on having an affair. It is very wrong. We have to put a stop to that.’
‘Is that why you completely ignored me?’
‘I’m sorry about that. How could I ignore you? How could I ignore a wonderful friend like you?’ her countenance relaxed a bit.
‘Listen, Joyce, you remain my friend and confidant. Stop having that kind of feeling. Let’s be good friends. Good platonic friends. Come on, smile.’
She smiled briefly.
‘That’s my girl. Now, let me give you a hug.’
We hugged for few seconds. She relaxed.
Later in the night, Naomi sent me a WhatsApp message.
‘Hello, Ola darling. I hope you know the implication of what we did the other time.’
I was a bit curious. What did she mean by implication? ‘Sorry, what exactly do you mean by implication?’ I wrote back.
‘The implication of the sexual intercourse we had is that you’re mine, and I’m yours. You must never sleep with any other lady.’
‘I thought we’ve already agreed on mutual faithfulness,’ I replied. ‘On my part, I’ll be faithful to you, I promise.’
‘It’s more than a promise, Ola. If you dare sleep with any other lady, there will be dire consequence.’
She used red prints for the word, ‘dire.’ I chuckled to myself. Why was she stating all these?
‘There is no need for threat,’ I wrote. ‘My dear Naomi, you can count on me.’
‘I’m not threatening. I’m only stating what will happen if you’re not careful. I love you,’ she wrote.
‘I love you more than you could imagine,’ I wrote back.
‘Good night, love.’
‘Good night, honey.’
On Sunday, when I was coming back from the church, an idea occurred to me. There was no way I would be the one visiting Naomi, while she could not visit me. I had to speed up renting a small apartment for myself. I had already saved some money. Getting a two-bedroom apartment
now would be a welcome and most desirable thing.
I thought over the area I should choose. I would have to move out of Ibeshe. What about Agric area? I would prefer a place not too far from
where I currently worked. I decided that on Monday, I would find time to explore Isawo road. I would meet an agent who would look for my specification.

Dont worry, you will understand, just say what you dont understand and we would try to explain in details for you, that is the aim of this thread: INFORMATION SHARING.
Let me take the Water issue:
- Borehole is on ground level, Tank is somewhere on a Scaffold (or inside a platform in the building, hidden from sight) at the level of first or second storey.
- The Upper flats (and all flats in some cases), take their water form the Tank located on the Scaffold, at a height higher than the Building or the highest Tap point, in the building. WHY?
- WHY? When the tank is placed at a very high point, relative to the point of Tap in the Building's upper floor, it can use GRAVITY (force which acts downwards) to provide the needed Pressure to drive the water into their taps.
- Pressure generally, is proportional to Height above ground. If you want more pressure in your taps, raise your tank higher.
So, how does the Water get from the ground (or Borehole) to the Tank placed at a height (say above the second floor for a single storey House) and does not flood the location or overflow?
- There is an Electrical SUBMERSIBLE Water Pump, placed inside the Borehole, deep under the ground or on a tank at ground level.
This Pump is the one that pushes the Water from the ground level/Borehole, Up into the Tank, placed Up there above ground.
- To prevent the Water from overflowing when full and messing up things, an AUTOMATIC FLOATING SWITCH is placed inside the Tank.
Its job is to monitor the level of Water in the tank.
- It is wired such that when the Water reaches a certain "Upper level" in the tank, it will cut-off Power to the Sumbersible Pump inside the Borehole in the ground. This prevents the water from overflowing and running off from the tank.
- But when the Water level gets low to a set-level, it will also AUTOMATICALLY switch-on the Electricity to the Submersible Pump, so that it starts pumping water into the tanks again.
- So, by cutting-off and Swutching on power to the Submersible pump, the AUTOMATIC FLOATING SWITCH can regulate the level of water int he tank and prevent overflowing while ensuring that there is always enough water in the tank, for use (as long as there is Power supply).
-That Automatic Floating Swith costs between #2,500 and #6,000 but l can assure you that there is almost no observable difference betwene the cheaper one, and the very expensive one. I stopped buying the expensive ones and the cheaper has lasted years now and still working!

As for Reverse Osmosis, it is just a fancy name for a subject (Osmosis) we did in Secondary School.
- Osmosis is simply the movement of Water, from area of Low Concentration to areas of High Concentration, through a Semi-Permable membrane (like a Cloth, sort of). It is an "equalisation of concentration process" across a separarting membrane.
- Reverse Osmosis, means the Reverse of the above, the liquid moves from the area of High Concentration to area of Low Concentration, though a membrane, under applied presuure.

What it does is basically to help you remove impurities from water, so that you can have a good, clean water to drink on the other side, when your source is from not very pure sources like a Borehole.
