I didn't say anything about being dumber, I said it was a stage in our thinking. A primitive intuition based stage. We obviously cannot remain at that stage but people like CMdunk35 want to remain there.

You can't tell me fully how the universe came to be. I say the universe came to be by something. Nothing can't create anything. Something outside the bounds of time and space, had to be responsible for everything. And judging by how beautifully, and complexly made it is, I put it all on intelligent creation, simple.

I like remaining in your so called outdated spot. Because it's the only way I can have an explanation. A simple scientific fact is that everything can't come from nothing. What is that starting point? God. The people of the old, and a ton of people now, including Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Jews, believe in the creator aspect of the universe.

The difference in the distance between Earth’s closest approach to the Sun (known as perihelion), which occurs on or about January 3 each year, and its farthest departure from the Sun (known as aphelion) on or about July 4, is currently about 5.1 million kilometers (about 3.2 million miles).

Please, don't take your life away. People will downplay this but suicide is a giant issue. I used to want to commit suicide myself. I know things may be hard but just work hard and pray hard, God would make a way for you. He was the one that saves me from suicide when things were hard for me. You can do it, I'm rooting for you. Please there are people around you that would hate to see you dead. They love you, and I love you, and God loves you. ❤️

Romance / Unpopular Opinion - Littering Is A Big Turn Off!! by CMdunk35: 7:01am On Jun 11
I know people are going to laugh at me for this, and I know I will get a lot of "We dey for Nigeria, abeg forget that one", but I will start the notion that littering is an ick. If I'm dating a guy right now, littering will be a giant turn off. I don't litter, so why should you? I wouldn't break up with him, but I will definitely make it known that littering is just yuck. Keep it with you till you find somewhere to throw it away smh. I can't let our children pick up your bad habit.

It's not my fault you education was inadequate and you know nothing of organic evolution.

Organic evolution did not start the universe.

ReacherSaidNoth:
How can you tell whether something is designed? When you look at mountains, the course of rivers, sand dune, waterfalls and all the magnificent physical features on our planet, what about them tells you that they are the works of a god and not just any god, the one you believe in?

I believe in intelligent creation. I look at everything, the birds, and how well they were tailored to divide into hundreds of species solely by adapting to their environments, the dogs, the sky, how perfectly it's engineered to have its colour, and how perfectly the earth rotates every 24 hours, and revolves around the sun every three sixty five(and a quarter) days. Do you know that if the earth was an inch closer to the sun, we'd all burn up immediately? And if the earth was an inch farther from the sun we'd freeze to death. The earth is in its perfect position. Perfect for us humans, with water, and plants and animals for food. We could have landed up in Jupiter. Or Venus. But we're here. The perfect planet.

Thinking about this makes me realize something created this. Not just something, an intelligent something. An intelligent creator that gives us a conscience and (most likely) free will.

All ancient cultures had the idea of God. Even ours. We knew something brought us there, and instinct was put in us to worship something we could think was creator of the world. Igbos believed in Chukwu, represented by the sun. Yorubas had Olodumare. Mind you, long before the Europeans came.

I think this is one of the most lame excuses for the existence of a god. In fact, I think it is more the excuse for the existence of millions of gods, since the universe is not one painting, but more like billions of paintings painted by millions of painters with millions more to paint in the small details like single planets and mountains and valleys and rivers and living things.
Then there is the problem of there being a god and therefore a god who created it, and another who created that god that created god ad infinitum.

What do you think?

The problem in the first paragraph of your logic is that you say the universe is a billion paintings. No. The universe is one.
There could be one painting, but a lot of elements. The people in it, the background, the meaning. Doesn't mean it was made by different people.

Your second paragraph. Who created God? In essence.
For the universe to exist today it had to have a beginning. We've gotten past that. There was a Big Bang. What caused the Big Bang, the start of it all? Something out of time and space (time started with the universe), something intelligent (creation works perfectly), something, something without a beginning and an end.
God, in essence.

Why can't we be the result of natural processes? Have you seen a god making anything the way you see humans making paintings, buildings and so on?

Haven't come to this in a long time sorry about that.
Your question.
Same way buildings can't be results of 'natural processes'.
I'm sure you know about Mount Rushmore. The sculpture on the mountain of the four founding fathers of the US.

You can't tell me erosion cut through the stone, and made the foreheads, and lips and heads of four men.
A sculptor, a genius one did so.

For life to exist, there has to be a source that is infinite, outside the bounds of time and space itself, genius enough to create complex species.

In sense, God.

There shouldn't even be anything like "Atheist".
You're the one who decided to believe in an imaginary creature and dedicate your life to it. I don't see why I should be given a name for not taking part in your delusions. But anyways, it's what it is.
Well, I don't believe in the existence of gods or whatever, so that's what makes me an atheist.

The idea of 'atheism' is simply because mankind has always believed in a creator. The ancient tribes believed in the creator of all things, in a form or another. Atheism stood out, because you didn't believe in anything, so that's not my fault.
You could call my belief in God a delusion, but all logic points to a creator. Random coincidences can't have brought us to now.

There are several reasons but the central thing is when I asked myself if I never believed in a god and was presented with the evidence of all of human history and what we know of the universe then told there was a good god that made all of this, would I believe? And my sincere answer was no. I then moved on to so what explains all the evidence best, an evil god? A nonchalant god? Or no god. The first 2 explain some things but not some others but the last fits every piece of evidence we have. That means what we are experiencing is just men doing what we can, with what we have, where we are. I immediately discarded faith and I felt a relief of being unburden of belief in what in seems like a dream and started embracing what is real.

I'll tell you why I was convinced of the existence of God, first. It's a rather simple expression. You should look at a painting and know it's evidence of a painter. You've never seen Leonardo Da Vinci, but you know someone painted the Mona Lisa. And you'll look at a building, and even if you've never met the builder, you know there was one, because of the existence of a building. Same thing as the universe. I see all around me, a tiny fraction of the universe and I know that the birds, the trees, the skies the sun, the moon, how perfect creation is, I'd know it came from a creator. We can't be a set of random throw arounds, because the universe had to come from something. Order and design in the universe point to an intelligent mind.
Let me know what you think🧡

Nairaland / General / My Testimony (depression And Suicidal Thoughts) by CMdunk35: 12:40pm On Apr 11
Hi. I just wanted to share how I encountered Jesus.
Growing up, we didn't really go to church all that much. Still our parents taught us to love God, you know all of that.
I was into God when I was smaller, at least I read Genesis multiple times.🤧
I'd say the biggest wall that was built between God and I was secondary school.
I was (and am) very introverted. I struggled to make friends. I had nobody, and I was quiet, and the idea is that if you're quiet, you'll be taken advantage of a lot, which turned out to be massively true for me lmao.
People called me their friends, and they'd use me, and I knew they were using me, in a sense, but I didn't want to leave them because they were my only friends.
I was constantly angry at life. Puberty didn't hit me well, let's say that, haha, and I was tiny, which caused insults from everyone, including my family.
I hated life, basically.
A turning point, however was when I got into SSS3. I met my current best friends.
A big difference that stuck out to me, though was that they didn't take advantage of me. Which meant they actually liked me as friends. I could say I was happy at school. But not at home. My friends weren't at home. I couldn't tell my family what a typical teenager wants to talk about.
I left SSS3.
I moved from Lagos to Calabar.
I was on the other side from the only people that understood me.
Life was quiet. That quietness became lonely.
Fear hit. I started to become afraid of my future. That I'll be alone forever.
I became depressed.
At that point, I found out I was attracted to women, and I came out (in my head) as bi.
Porn came in my life.
Everything coupled up.
My friends, when they called or texted, noticed I wasn't the same.
That I was sadder than usual.
I told them that they wouldn't understand, and that if they woke up and couldn't reach me, they should understand that I must have killed myself.
I hated life.
My parents noticed, but I didn't want to say anything, because who knows how African parents will take it.
I looked at myself in the mirror everyday (tears out of my eyes while typing this) and I'd feel dirty.
I knew if my parents knew about the porn, and about the depression, they'd hate me. Probably even throw me out.
I cried myself to sleep everynight after a helping of porn.
Scrolling through Tiktok videos one day brought me a Christian video.
I didn't want to watch. I didn't care about God. I just stayed and watched, because at least if Jesus came right there and then, he'd let me into heaven because I watched the stupid video.
The Tiktok algorithm (or God, whichever way you want to say it) realized that I 'liked' Christian videos and recommended me more.
I didn't want to watch.
But I stuck by.

Does anyone remember the corn kid (It's corn! A big lump with knobs, it has the juice)
This guy was lipsyncing to the song, but the words on the screen would say, 'It's the Bible, I can't imagine a more beautiful thing'

Anyway, I guess I decided to dust off my yellow Bible that had been laying in a corner for years and open it.

I got bored😐😶

So I downloaded a Bible app, so I'd remember to read it everyday.

The Bible app automatically shows John when first downloaded, so I decided to read it.

I have partial ADHD, so anytime I read, my brain goes restless. So I'd read it out to myself. Two chapters every day.
I got addicted to my Bible yay.
One day, I went to rest in my room, then I sat on my bed, and I said 'wait. I'm happy.'

It felt so good.

I knew I wasn't depressed.

I started following Jesus.

God is perfect. The whole idea is that you can't be around sin if you're holy and perfect. My parents are not holy and perfect, yet they saw all I did behind closed doors they would hate me. God went down in the form of Jesus to make us clean on his sight. Jesus suffered so we wouldn't have to.

We've lied, and stolen, and done all wrong. All that would be punished by a righteous judge. Imagine you had a fine to pay. And then instead of sending you to jail, the judge says, don't worry, I've paid your fines for you. That's how much God loves us.

If you read this, thank you, God bless you, and I love you. If you didn't, God bless you, and I love you also. Feel free to ask any questions.

Religion / Re: Why It Is Okay For Christians To Eat Pork And Other Unclean Animals by CMdunk35: 11:59am On Apr 11
CAPSLOCKED:

JESUS, GOD, MATTHEW, LUKE, ETC, ALL CONTRADICTED THEMSELVES BY THEMSELVES... SEVERALLY. THEY SAY ONE THING IN THIS VERSE, AND SAY ANOTHER CONTRADICTORY AND MEANINGLESS SHĮT IN THE NEXT.

THE BIBLE IS A COMIC BOOK. THE WORST IN HISTORY FOR THAT MATTER.

I don't know if you'll see this since it has been a few years since you made this comment.
That verse is not a contradiction.

-In Leveticus, God said not to eat pork. Understand the context of the verse in Leveticus. God was travelling with the Israelites, which of course, required them to be ritually clean. That was why there were a lot of rules. Against women on their periods, people with skin diseases, and what people wore(no mixing two fabrics) and of course the pork issue. The metaphorical wall still existed between God and mankind, including his people (Israel). There needed to be a form of cleanliness, in the form of the law to bridge God and man.

-By God's grace, the wall, the veil is torn down. Jesus serves as the means to connect God and man. Those rules don't apply anymore because Jesus already completed that for us. The bridge is already solidified, and we don't need to refrain from certain foods etc to make us clean, because accepting Jesus's sacrifice already makes us clean.

I hope you understand. God bless you.
Literature / How Was Your Experience In Secondary School In The Early 2000s? by CMdunk35: 6:36am On Jan 21
I'm planning to write a book, and this book somehow involves how secondary school (senior) was like in let's say 2002-ish. Please tell me some experiences or some highs and lows, or how fun or strict it was, or the general atmosphere of your life as a secondary school students in the early 2000s. Thanks.
