Business / Re: Google Trader Nigeria To Compete With Dealfish, Tradestable, Nairalist by cmon(m): 9:12pm On Nov 09, 2011
It's google again!!!! angry

Now all nigerians will switch to their platform instead of patronizing our Nigerian Sites. Note, not like dealfish is not good enough, it's just that it's google.

If you ask me, google is a killer of ideas especially for those that don't have enough capital for marketing and all.

And yes, I believe this thread is an advertisement.

Still wondering why he's receiving only 4 years. Receiving a paycheck of $150,000 from Micheal Jackson for God knows how long. He'll probably just go to jail to think about what to do with all the wealth he had accumulated.
Webmasters / Re: Ever Seen The Source Code Of Google.com? by cmon(m): 8:38pm On Nov 01, 2011
Yup. Google likes too much JS. They don't wan't any back-end pressure at all. They just dump everything to your browser to do all the work.

You can't expect less from an organization as big as google. They'll try by all means to reduce pressure on their servers. Talking about that, is there really a limit to what the typical Google Server can process

Doubt it tho.

Ymodulus, that's exactly my point.

Yawa, you'll have to look at the source codes from www.google.com to understand what I mean. The source codes could have been simpler, just as Ymodulus described.
Webmasters / Ever Seen The Source Code Of Google.com? by cmon(m): 12:34am On Oct 28, 2011
Then you wonder, couldn't it have been simpler for a white page, links above, an Image, a form field and links below.

What's the excess codes for Image how you would have achieved an exact google.com homepage.
Webmasters / Adplacers Vs Google Adsense - On Nairaland - In Nigeria by cmon(m): 10:47am On Oct 08, 2011
If you are a web publisher and a regular visitor of Nairaland, I believe you must have been seeing the Adplacers ads on the homepage. I just visited the politics section of the site just to notice adplacers has totally replaced Google adsense. Now the questions are;

Is adplacers replacing competing with google adsense?
Is anyone else using it?
Because it focuses on nigerian/african products, do they actually pay more than google adsense?
are they a better option for advertisers?
Because of the bottle neck involved in working with google adsense, should nigerian publishers be switching to them?

Let's just discuss adplacers vs Google Adsense.

Politics / Banks In Imo Shutdown Over Strike. Rochas Do Something Asap! by cmon(m): 7:04pm On Sep 20, 2011
Owerri — Activities in Owerri, the Imo State capital have been grounded to a halt following the strike embarked upon by workers in the state over the non-implementation of the minimum wage.

Our correspondent reports that all government offices, banks and the state secretariat were under lock and key yesterday. The strike, it was gathered is biting hard on the people of the state due to the fact that banks are part of the strike.

Meanwhile, the state government has commenced negotiations with the NLC with a view to finding a solution to the problem.

The chairman of NLC in the state, Comrade Reginald Anyadike told Daily Trust that that they went on strike when they discovered that Governor Rochas Okorocha was not interested in approving the implementation of the N18,000 minimum wage for workers in the state.

He said the governor earlier agreed to pay only workers on grade levels 01 to 6 the new wage, but that the NLC rejected the proposal. The NLC held a meeting yesterday to review some issues raised during their last meeting with the governor, but details of the meeting were not known at the time of filling this report.

Politics / Is Imo State Not Supposed To Be Rescued by The New Government? What's this? by cmon(m): 10:31am On Sep 19, 2011
In its bid to push through its demand for the payment of the N18,000 minimum wage by the Imo state government, the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress has embarked on an indefinite strike action, thereby crippling economic activities in the state.

The strike action climaxed on Friday, when activities at all banks and other offices were brought to a halt. Addressing workers yesterday at the State Secretariat, along Port Harcourt Road in Owerri, the state NLC Chairman, Comrade Reginald Anyadike, accused the state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, of being insensitive to the plight of the workers, adding that the governor had no reason whatsoever to deny or delay the payment of N18, 000 minimum wage as announced by the federal government, which other states of the federation had accepted.

He said the strike was consequent upon the refusal of the Imo State government to sign the N18,000 minimum wage table jointly prepared by government and labour, coupled with several violations of establishment matters by the state government.

“The organised labour in Imo State is highly disappointed at the level of unseriousness exhibited by government as against the brotherly love and solidarity shown to the Owelle’s government by labour in the state.

“Against this backdrop, the leadership of the organised labour therefore directs all workers both in the civil, public and private sectors service to embark on an indefinite strike action till Imo State Government is ready to resolve all labour issues especially the issues of the N18, 000 minimum wage,” the NLC chairman said.

No government official was ready to talk on the issue as THISDAY reliably gathered that the governor was busy holding a closed-door meeting with traditional rulers in the state.

Meanwhile, Governor Okorocha has challenged the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to contribute in the ongoing war against terrorism in the country, saying the corps should always uphold patriotism in discharging its functions now that it has been empowered to carry arms.

Speaking at the passing out parade ceremony and commissioning of the Civil Defence armed unit in Owerri, Okorocha stated that though Nigeria is not known for terrorism, the recent cases of suicide-bombing have created a serious challenge to security agencies.
