Hello, Thanks for the reply. I was actually drawn to this topic based on the original plan for a 3 bed bungalow you quoted earlier. The new picture looks really big and I want a small building as it will be occupied infrequently. Is it possible to amend the original bungalow to have a penthouse? Alternatively, is a multi level house possible? I just want a way to separate the master bedroom from the rest of the house. The other 2 rooms can share a bath. spyder880: |

Good day. Is this a bungalow or a duplex? I am also interested in a 3 or 4 bed bungalow with the master bedroom being in a penthouse to allow for some privacy. Location is Anambra state, soil is firm and very dry. spyder880: |

Hello Jide, I read this whole thread and I am very impressed. I just moved into a house with a very small paved backyard but I want to do some planting. I rescued 2 bathtubs and already have a dwarf plantain in one. I want to plant Ugu and/or tomatoes in the other. I'm hoping to practice container farming. Do you know where I can get a few seeds? I don't need commercial quantities. I'm around the Amuwo-Odofin Axis. Any advice will be greatly appreciated jidestroud: |

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by CNN80: 9:10am On May 06, 2019 |
OK. I assume that there is an advantage to using 48V to 24V inverters? With the 5 kVA setup, if I use 12 200Ah batteries, do I need to get more solar panels? My budget has become lower than expected so I rather not overspend. Alternatively, if I stick with 8 batteries, can I run a high performance fan, like a hurricane one (at least 2)? I noticed that Quantas doesn't make tubular batteries. I think I would prefer those. Any preference as to the brand? You have taught me so much already. I really appreciate it. NiyiOmoIyunade: |
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by CNN80: 8:39pm On May 05, 2019 |
Thanks for all your response so far. Already decided to go back to the original plan of a 5 kVA setup. The original quote is as follows INVERTER - PHASE1 5.00KVA/48VDC Pure Sine wave, Keye/Powerstar/Felicity Inverter 250,000.00 8 Nos. of 12V, 150AH Deep Cycle Batteries at 80,000.00 640,000.00 8-Unit Local Battery Rack & inverter rack 30,000.00 25mm2, 6mm2 & 2.5mm2 Cables & Cable-locks 50,000.00 32A Change-over Switch, 2DBs & Output MCCB 30,000.00 Freighting and Logistics 20,000.00 Installation 90.000.00 Total: 1,130,000.00 SOLAR PANELS INSTALLATION - PHASE 2 12 nos. of 250Watts, 24V, Mono PV Solar Panels @ N50,000.00 600,000.00 50Amps, 48VDC MPPT Solar Controller 120,000.00 Roof Mounted Solar Panel Frame 60,000.00 Earthing Materials 20,000.00 DC & AC Disconnect with casing 20,000.00 Freighting and Logistics 20,000.00 10mm2,6mm2, 4mm2 & 2.5mm2 Cables & Cable-locks 50,000.00 Installation 80.000.00 Sub-Total 970,000.00 Grand-total: 2,100,000.00 If my calculations are correct, the batteries can store 14.4 kWh but can be upgraded to 200Ah batteries to give 19.2 kWh. I guess we could increase the batteries to 10 like you suggested. I don't get what you mean by the 48vDC sweet spot or 60A charge controller would probably be maxed out at 15pcs of 300w panels As for the night time load, I'm a proponent for conservation and sustainability. The AC is going to be on between 10 pm and 5 am in one room while a rechargeable fan will be on in the second room. TV will run from 5 pm to 11 pm. The current solar power generated by this setup is 3kW (I hope I got it right). Assuming an efficiency of 30% with 8 hrs of sun, the production for the day will be 7.2 kWh. Does that mean that I need more panels? I also want to know why you recommend the products Canadian Solar and Quantas. The installer said he uses what is available so if I'm going to be getting it from you, I need to know why. Thanks for all your response so far. NiyiOmoIyunade: |

Hello, How do I switch to enerygy saving mode? The max rating of any of our LED bulbs is 15W and we are planning to change all to at most 10W. Of course we won't have all on at the same time. I am a big proponent of sustainability. By the way, can I run my water pump on solar? ceaser: |
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by CNN80: 5:25pm On May 01, 2019 |
HI, Thanks so much for answering me. I really appreciate it. I wasn't planning to run any of the heavy power equipment on the batteries although I'm now considering running one AC, maybe one of those inverter ACs. None of the offers was for a Lithium Battery. The 8 batteries offers were tubular batteries; the 10/12 Lead Acid. The Lithium Ion Battery offer was for a SmartLiving PowerWall LiFePO4 Battery Pack (48 V 200Ah/9,600 Wh) with 12 315W Monocrystalline Solar Panels and a 6kVA Hybrid Inverter. I'm looking to conserve power not consume it so the plan is to be as efficient as possible. Which is why I was hoping for an inverter or controller that will send power to the entire house when solar or grid energy is detected and power to a few designated power points when battery energy is detected. What is special about the Quanta battery? What kind is it? Have you used it before? Do you have any recommendations for inverters? NiyiOmoIyunade: |
