Business / How To Become A Great Professional Speaker by coachsam: 5:13pm On Dec 18, 2019 |
If you want to grow your business, then you are going to need to be a good speaker because executives and CEO's must be able to present well in front of an audience. Speaking in public and giving talks in front of large audiences has many benefits because not only does it position you as an authority, but it also helps you build a loyal following of people who know and like you. Becoming a professional speaker is a great way to build trust and rapport and to build your brand. Unfortunately, many people shy away from this path due to fear and lacking of skills. Most of us have no idea what we look like or how our presentation of ourselves is viewed by others. To be a great speaker takes practice and more practice. Just like anything else. Professional speakers are not born, but spend many hours practicing to be their best. Here are some routines done by the pro's that can help you to improve your speaking skills. Forget memorizing things. Nothing sounds worse than someone speaking word for word something that they have obliviously memorized - Instead of memorizing try to internalize. By remembering the basic content of what you're supposed to say, and using notes as reminders as opposed to notes as a script. Doing this will make your speech some natural and flow through you just like a regular conversation. Speaking naturally will allow you to concentrate more on your pitch and tone and making your speech more interesting to your audience. Try your speech out with someone first. It's always good to get a second opinion, and by doing your speech in front of a friend first they can give you a more objective critique of it then you would be able to do yourself. Ask them to pay special attention to your delivery as well as the content Try videotaping yourself. This is probably the best way that you can actually see what your audience would see and how you've really done. Try to do this before your presentation as well as during (if possible). This will allow you to pick out your weak and strong points. That way you can work on these specific aspects and improve over time. Tape recording your speeches audio is another powerful tool in improving your speaking skills. By listening back to your speech you will be able to pinpoint areas that will need to work on, as well as acknowledge strong points. Make eye contact during your speech. If it helps to imagine everyone in there underwear so be it (just try not to laugh). But you should keep an eye contact with members of your audience throughout the duration of your speech, doing so by focusing on each member for a few seconds and then moving on to the next person. Try to spend and equal amount of time on everyone and you can either move left to right or up and down. By doing this you will make everyone in the audience feel as though you are talking directly to them. This will also keep there interest up in what you have to say. Family / The Importance Of Body Language by coachsam: 8:59pm On Jan 23, 2019 |
I currently work as a teen therapist and counselor and many of my clients are having problems with their self esteem and self confidence. One thing I am noticing in many of them is poor body language and how they carry themselves. I decided to take a survey and ask people about this and got some interesting feedback and wanted to share it with the community: Women only shook hands for professional reasons, and if they did they stretched their hand out first and the man accepted it, the man did not squeeze too hard....men have greater strength then women...if the men squeeze to hard they will hurt the women's hand. If a women squeezed the mans hand he must meet the same strength not more. As its become more general for women to shake hands a lot of men just stretch their hand out first so the women has to respond. It is still a dominate thing for men. Most women still don't want to shake hands with men. Trying to understand body language better as an Aspire. I gotta say, I was and am confused. Nope, did not notice a difference in my mood, though I did notice a difference in his hand signals. Sigh, humans are an odd bunch that's for sure. Also notice what he does between 2.30 and 4.35. He pulls the guy's hand towards him into his own energy. This allows him to control the other guy continuously while he's holding his hand, until he guides the other guy off the stage by moving his hand that way. With subtle hand movements he's constantly leading the other guy. People who have ever practiced Aikido, will recognize this. Might just be a personal thing, but while experimenting after this video, I imagined asking someone if they wanted to go somewhere and noticed something. Try gesturing in a direction with your palm up, down, and by pointing, and see what your head does. On palms up, my head turned slightly, palms down, my head pointed slightly in the direction, and sideways point, my head cocked to the side a bit. Let me know what happens to you. So lets just say someone is giving you a handshake an you can tell they are trying to get the upper hand. Now does that communicate them trying to see if they can trust you by seeing if you will submit to them which communicates weakness an unreliability or is it better to submit in due respect for the other person? This kind of hand shake does not make sense. First hand shake should be peaceful like Islam teaches. Islam teaches hand shake should be peaceful, no matter whether your hand is on top or bottom. When you are hand shaking someone you must feel kind and generosity toward the other person. What is the point of hand shaking someone when you have superiority in your heart. What is your take on this subject? Sam Miller http://parentingteenagersacademy.com/therapy-services/ http://parentingteenagersacademy.com/counseling-services/ |

A recent TED talk left the crowd speechless as this young teenager named Sam who is terminally ill shared his views on happiness and life. The young teen boy had been a therapist and was encouraged to share his story so that others may learn from his experience. Regardless to say, the responses he got was very moving as many people heralded this young mans courage. Here are some of the amazing comments from this talk: I loved his speech so much I cried and I am going to get a t-shirt of this young man. More people should have his beautiful mind.. I think of him when ever i get mad and i remember his words be with good company. He wanted to do something in biology related to genetics leaving behind his dreams of becoming an engineer just because he believed he could do something to ensure that this disease doesn't destroy anybody else's life. What a pure soul. The maturity in his words and thoughts is beyond his years.Thoughts and prayers with his family. Great philosophy. Enjoy today, every day; for we all live in the perpetual here and now. Yesterday is the memory bank we use to keep from making the same mistakes over.Tomorrow is a promise of better things; goals set to motivate us. But the present is what we have, what we can change, and is ultimately all we really have. I must be disciplined and stay consistent and strong and keep the eye of the tiger once I find it deep inside there's no limit to what I will accomplish in both my boxing career, love life and changing the world! My name is Dan Adams you don't know it now but someday you will as the next Rocky Balboa the future multiple heavyweight champ and hero of ending communism and the next Cold War! Career / Can You Consider Life Coaching As A Career? by coachsam: 11:56pm On Aug 12, 2018 |
If you are looking for a lifelong career, should you be a life coach as an option? I have not seen a job as fulfilling as life coaching; it gives you the pleasure of living life on your own terms. Yes, when you are a coach, you are your own resume. Meaning your life will become the advertisement for clients to come to you. Therefore, if you need a career to choose, the following are my three reasons to consider life coaching: 1. Self-development. People think life coaches can do everything because their lives exhibit the traits of someone who knows all. This is because a life coach always invests in self-development. 2. It’s a job you do with pleasure. A life coach takes everything easy. They don't get angry not because they lack emotions but because of self-discipline. They are calm, sociable and a jolly good fellow to be with at all times. These are essential qualities for managing coaching clients. 3. It is rewarding. The expectation of any business is the income. Apart from the monetary reward, job satisfaction is another reason for choosing a life coaching career. You will always be happy when your clients, who only yesterday was about to give up on life, is thriving and happy today; it is a joy every life coach feels great about! How to become a life coach If you have chosen life coaching as a career, your job of becoming a life coach has just begun. Here are my tips to activate your life coaching career, follow them with all your passion no and relax later to reap the fruit of your labor: Find a reliable life coaching program. Finding a life coaching institute or school is the easiest part of the job. The internet has abundant information where you can take your life coaching training. Take your Life coaching session. The beauty of life coaching is you will experience it first. You have to remove all your baggage of troubles before you can help other people remove theirs. Start your life coaching service. Once your sessions are over, you can start your practice while you continue your training for accreditation. The average time of continuous learning for a life coach is four years. But start your business and grow gradually. Remember, being a coach is a lifelong career. You do not start a marathon race with a 100-meter stride; go it gently.
