Feel free to ask questions, but it's pointless if you're not implementing them on the go. I would like to see changes when I check again. |

The chat I spoke about yesterday. I'm still looking for it. I'll send it when I find it. It wasn't archived, hence the difficulty in locating it. |

Point of correction. Not.... [s]"You were mentioning every single one of them in an organized format"[/s] Correct one is.... "You were mentioning every single one of them and in an unorganised format" |

Well, a lot has been said already. I don't want to go back over those or deprive others of the opportunity to say something. There's so much to tell you about your profile. A lot of things are not right about it. It's impossible to write out everything I've seen, from skills to grammar to presentation, to portfolio. You're in a hot niche. Your profile needs to look like that of a true expert. You are kind of all over the place with your skills. Mentioning every single one of them and in an organized format. Your profile is more about yourself than about your clients and how SPECIFICALLY your skills can improve their business and their web experience. Are you about the architecture of websites and apps, or about bug fixes? Speed? What do you major in? What kind of websites? From scratch? What kind of problems exactly did you solve for those clients you spoke about? What companies did you work with in the past? You need to really narrow it down. And all these details need to go into your profile. Please, remove either "professional" or "expert" from your headline. Using both is an ambiguity. No need for any of the two, in my opinion. Words related to your niche shoukd show up more. How come the word "developer" hasn't occurred to you? Like I said, there's so much to correct. We can't tell you all at once, you'll be overwhelmed. How about you start off making corrections with what we've said already before we go to the nitty gritty of things, particularly your skills as affects your clients? That's what I would've done, I would've started making the corrections. As of today, and I just checked your profile again, you haven't changed anything. It helps to browse through other profiles in your niche to see how they present themselves. It helps a lot. Get involved in the learning process even while we are guiding you. See what subniches have become overused and avoid those ones. Implement, post here again, and we will revise till you're approved. If I see changes, only then will I say more. I wish you all the best. greenstar: |

No, please, by all means! This is not a monopoly. Wish you had gone ahead. You can still chip in. We all need each other and we all see different sides to things. Nobody's view is irrelevant here. I had wanted to say something about that too yesterday but had to attend to my work. So, please say what you were trying to say. Don't wait for me. islamics: |

You, bro!!!! Just visited your account! I don't want to believe that's you in the picture. Are you serious! As many coding languages as Zuckerberg knows, he never appears looking that rugged! That hair! And why are you frowning? Who send you? Bro, smile! Not trying to be funny. I'm serious. You look suspicious. First and foremost, get a more professional headshot with a brighter background and better camera. Look welcoming. Smile. Look professional. That profile pic is a turnoff already. Do that first. Let me attend to someone for now. I'll be back. greenstar: |

Hi. Me again. @softwareplus is right. But may I add? I was speaking with my white colleague few days ago. She was lamenting not being approved on Upwork. And she's white! Even the whites are disappointed in Upwork. But there are also many whites that are making a killing there. My friend told me and the others that she edited and edited and edited. Till she was lost. Then she edited her niche, and she got approved! She niched down real narrow to get approved. I'll do my best to locate the chat if it's still there. I'll copy it and paste it here for you to see if I can find it. I'm kind of busy right now, but I'll try to check your stuff too. If you're not unique, you won't get approved. Yes, it is racism. And no, it is not racism. Don't give up yet. I hope I can find that chat. Let me try sha. greenstar: 1 Like |

One more thing..... "arrrrrggggghhhhh"...... sorry y'all, just one more. About Fiverr (in case there's anyone here doing Fiverr) register with your real name (just in case). Use a username related to your craft or niche. Use a paid VPN. Use a logo for your profile photo. Or if you're confident enough and you have a good background (unlike me ) then use your real photo. Use your Nigerian phone number, don't ever use apps to get US numbers (much less Google Voice ). Or if you have connects on the other side, ask them to help you with a real foreign phone number. And most of all, listen. If you want to impersonate a white man, you will have to impersonate his/her demeanor or character or professionalism or communication. You can't be acting Nigerian while claiming white. Feel me? They know these things. They're reading us, but we're not taking the time to read them. They can sniff out a Nigerian from behind a chat. Yo, I'm outta here. Gotta go fix my laptop. Hi, my name is Coderific. I'm no Pro. I ain't judging. I'm just sharing my process and the insights I gain as I go along. Baba God go bless una nyafu nyafu. 1 Like |

One more thing. For God's sake, buy a real VPN and leave all these free stuff. I can't seem to understand how some people be earning dollars but won't buy a real VPN. Only a paid VPN will ever be static. Stop listening to people telling you to "use free VPN then switch it off, you'll be ok". NO, YOU WONT BE OK. YOU'LL GET DEPORTED. A paid VPN is legal, and the whites respect the logic behind the use of a VPN. To them, you're a scanner unless your VPN is static. So please pay for a good one. Shouldn't cost more than ₦4000 a month or so. Then share with your buddy or just a some random newbie who maybe can't afford? Some VPNs allow up to 5 computers. My two cents. Are those stones coming at me yet? |
Business / Re: Elance.com, Upwork.com And Other Freelancing Site: How To Succeed Guide. by Coderific: 11:45am On Jan 13, 2018 |
Don't even bother using those apps that claim to give you US number. These freelancing sites now know the difference between virtual US numbers and real US numbers. They will block you instantly. Besides, those virtual numbers will only work at that instant you signed up for it. Not a second later. Speaking from experience. I actually bought one such number on an app. Used it immediately to open PayPal. It worked. Few days later it stopped working. Only knew when I tried Fiverr with it. My money was gone. If you're trying to do Upwork with that, you're only wasting your time. It would be better if you had a friend in the US or UK who will volunteer his/her phone number. That could work. But then how would you deal with tax forms and Skype calls? In my humble opinion, though? I think we Nigerians are the reason freelancing and PayPal has become so tough for us especially for the newbies. Always going through the backyard or offering less than stellar services. It breaks my heart to see the stigma Nigerians have to endure online. It's even more sad to see that we started this and we're still doing it. I've tried faking identity and stuff, so I'm not judging anyone. It's hard to be a Nigerian and earn money online. Anyone who thinks otherwise either isn't being real or was born with a silver spoon in the mouth. So I understand why we lean towards the back door. I've been there myself, done that. In fact I'm still struggling. And two days ago, I wept for my losses. And I tried again. Fiverr. My Upwork account is Nigerian, and nothing happening there yet. Don't know how long I'll be undetected on Fiverr yet. Just started another account. But it always backfires. There's no such thing as a singular lie. Every lie needs a backup lie. For how long will I keep telling lie after lie after lie, only for my earnings to be seized at just one missed step? I mean.....i just want to be me, to be known for what I have to offer and the value that I add to people's lives. We need to stop making things harder for ourselves. We need to stop making things harder for the next generation. If you must enter through the back door, resolve it in your heart while you are as yet undetected to save enough money to travel abroad and dig in some roots so that you look more authentic, then help your brothers and sisters. Hire them online and help them get stars or their first earnings online. Pay them via the freelancing site, not locally. It's a sacrifice that God will not overlook. Or if you must enter through the back door, enter as an agency not as a person. Enter with a website. And when you've established yourself, reveal your true identity so that foreigners can restore their trust in Nigerians. Is it easy. No! Is it doable? Yes! Hey, I know y'all probably gon' pick up stones and hurl them at me. But truth needs be told. I'm still struggling so like I said, I'm not judging anyone. Just lamenting and suggesting. If I've offended anyone, please accept my apologies. But truth must be told. My two cents. Good job, everyone. @victor101 you rock! odicity: 4 Likes |

expertix: I feel slighted by your comment. This is something I ACTUALLY SAW AND HAD A DEADLINE before i came to announce it here. The only reason I came here to blow a whistle was because I thought it would be of help to someone, not because lying is my lifestyle. For what, will it put bread on my table? Please!!! I tasted gall in your response to me, with all due respect to you sir, whereas I had no gall in coming to provide info. My mistake was that I did not also include the deadline I saw. Is that what justifies my being shamed in this way? I no be expert like you but I'm no liar or trickster either. I wish you had thought twice before making me look like a bad person in public. Anyway to everyone else who feels "misled" by my attempt at helping out as a newbie here, please accept my sincere and heartfelt apologies. The intention was not to mislead. I leave you all in peace and will keep whatever little info I may find to myself from now on because with what Master Expertix has done to me in his reply, nothing I post here will be considered truthful by anyone anymore. Thank you Expertix. God is watching. I don waka. God bless una dollars. |

Hi guys. I'm new here and a novice at domain business. Great job you are all doing here. I've been reading through all the pages. I wish I had found this thread before buying one stupid ebook from one internet marketer like that . The ebook doesn't contain half the info on the first 10 pages of this thread. But my money is already gone! Nigerians please let's drop this cannibalistic attitude so that we can grow. Na God dey bless person hustle o! Well I guess I'll just "man up" and pick up and move on. Keep it up guys, and please don't let this thread die. By the way, someone asked for promos, right? I saw Name Cheap offer $0.88 for a .com domain. Couldn't buy because I've just been scammed like I just told you guys. But maybe y'all should check it out. I hope this helps someone in some way. Peace and happy Sunday. |
