Politics / Re: Suggest Ways To Stop Tribal Bashing On NL by colinisation: 6:03pm On Aug 01, 2014 |
Emessy: 1 . Ban all children under 18 years from nairaland Or 2. Request for a photo of birth certificate before registration on nairaland Or 3. Ban all IGBOS Mods are not serious about the thing, they should start banning people for tribalism. Make the registration process a bit more difficult / longer so you don't set up a lot of fake dummy accounts. Start banning by IP address We can also start by asking this guy what that is supposed to mean. 1 Like |
Politics / Re: For Those Of Us Seriously Beating The Drum Of War. Is This What We Really Want? by colinisation: 7:12pm On Jul 26, 2014 |
IGBOSON1: I dont mean to be insulting but I have to ask what is the point of all you said? The OP was talking in general not just about Igbo's or any specific ethnic group. As you rightly say this "hatred" is based upon a dysfunctional society, does that mean it is justified? Or we find peaceful means of fixing our broken society. All ethnic groups (PEOPLE) in this country have the scars to prove the country is not working, this hatred we bear each other is based on the assumption that there is not enough to go round so we must fight with each other for every scrap. I am half Yoruba and half Igbo my mom is Lagosian born and bred. If she hears bombing in the North "Oh those northerners / muslims are killing themselves again *mtchew*", fighting in Lagos "I bet you its those Ibadan people they dont know how to behave". Point I am trying to make is we are all wounded in this country (some more than others - I think the civil war was the greatest single tragedy) but we unnecessarily hate each other when we are all just fighting to stay alive. This hatred is not only unjustified, its a lazy way of pinning our problems on others, it achieves nothing and only leads to more death. 64 Likes |
Politics / Re: Edo Cancels Teachers’ Competency Test, Recalls 936 Sacked Teachers by colinisation: 2:18am On Jul 04, 2014 |
Can I ask why is it a good thing that he withdrew the request of competency tests. At the end of the day I want the best education for my kids not political favoritism - PDP or APC all the same thing to me. I want competent teachers. No be to just carry my tax money to chop. 2 Likes |
Politics / Re: Gov. Fashola Spends N400 Million Per 1MW Of Electricity. by colinisation: 12:56am On Oct 12, 2013 |
jazzydee: No its not its N320 million per MW which is quite close to 260 million and not bad especially considering economies of scale that the FG is enjoying. And the fact that the FG constructed a whole power plant not a small scale one which had to fit within the constraints of Lagos. So stop being partial. |
Politics / Re: Extortion By Policemen In Onitsha (Video) by colinisation: 3:53am On Sep 27, 2013 |
mascot87: Can you see that when the man shows that he knows what to do and stood is ground showing it straight to the officer,he kept quiet and absconded. The moral of the lesson is get to know your right.Assuming the man was saying something like "abeg na,that one too much for me na,reduce am small" then the police officer will capitalize on that and make sure he collect something tangible from the man for himself.Kudos to the manOh boy you realise that they detained the driver? You hear the policeman say oga come down at the end. 1 Like |
Religion / Re: Investigating Atheiem by colinisation: 8:13pm On Aug 25, 2013 |
mumumugu: Investigating Atheism Disclaimer: I am not an atheist but I appear to have been loosing my faith small, small and was raised a Christian. 1. I will divide this into A and B part depending on if you like physics. A Is it a crime to answer this question as I don't know? After all, just because you don't know something does not mean that you should make up an elaborate story about magic beings and the like. That is just weird. B. For those of you who like physics and Biology we evolved from single cell organisms over billions of years adapting to various environments from replicating sequences of Amino Acids and there can never be nothing in the universe see the Casimir effect and Virtual Particles on wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casimir_effect 2. 3. and 4. are all the same question Justice and fairness are defined by an individual and collectively implemented by a society why do I want some one else to tell me what is just and fair? I have a moral standing based upon my knowledge and understanding of the world I strive to achieve this why do I need a preacher or a book in which God himself asked Israelites to kill all inhabitants (children included) of Jericho that to me is not justice and fairness. 5. I don't if he is not caught, therefore the society must work as hard as possible for peace, fairness and reconciliation. 6. Is my child happy? Yes! Then so be it, that is all I want for my children to be happy and not to cause harm on anyone. Why must everything be a fight between one religion and another? 7. Atrocities have happened throughout the ages - several Africans were enslaved, victimised, raped and murdered on their way to America and Europe to be put to work and discriminated against. Jews? world war II says hello! Native Americans were wiped out by Europeans etc..... My contention to you is if God stood by and watched all this he don't like non Europeans very much. 8. Look within yourself and as yourself what you want to be, explore, discover and seek knowledge. 9. Life is a journey not the destination, it is not on your dying bed when you appreciate your wife but in every waking moment spent together. 10. Where else are you going? Or does a Danfo come and pick you up for after party. |
