Round one

Conor said he would attack and he’s true to his word. He gets in a few body blows but Mayweather absorbs them. He’s known for figuring his opponents out early and letting them attack. Irish “Oles!” ring around the arena. Floyd goes for a bigg-ish straight that Conor dodges - and the Irishman then stands with his arms behind his back. Excellent showboating. McGregor hasn’t looked out of his depth - but it’s still early. I have to give that round to the Irishman - he was more aggressive. He landed one good uppercut counter.

Round two

Conor said he would KO his opponent early. Let’s see what he can do. He gets a little excited and aims some punches at the back of Mayweather’s head - the ref warns him. Mayweather then lands a right hand. But Conor switches stance to land a flurry of blows. Conor looks ... can I say comfortable? His punches are a little crude but they are landing. Floyd has thrown very few punches so far.

Round three

McGregor throws another hammer punch at the back of Mayweather’s head and is warned again - fine in
MMA , not so much in boxing. He needs to be careful or he’ll be penalised. Conor looks a lot bigger than his opponent and is leaning on Floyd, tiring him out. Floyd is smiling but Conor is working his jab well and catches Floyd with a few. A better round for Floyd but - and I’m shocked to say this - the Irishman has won all three rounds so far by my count.

Round four

Conor peppers Floyd with some body shots - one is a little south of the torso in the forbidden place and Floyd lets the ref know. On two minutes, Conor lands a big left but Mayweather counters and catches his opponent a few times. Floyd is coming forward more now and pushing the pace a little. Conor’s punches are starting to look more tired - they’re almost pushed. Conor still leads overall on my card though.

Round five

Floyd is out of his corner first to start the fifth - not bad for a 40-year-old. Conor is proving an awkward opponent for Floyd - coming in at odd angles and using his weight advantage in clinches. If this goes deep and Conor is still ahead Floyd could be in trouble - he is not a knockout puncher these days by any means. A good left from Mayweather with 30 seconds left of the round.

Round six

Whatever happens now, Conor has won respect. Floyd turns his back on McGregor and he gets rocked. The veteran looks far less calm than the rookie. But Mayweather comes forward and catches McGregor with some good blows and the Irishman’s hands drop. Conor sticks his tongue out and chuckles - he’s having fun. $100m worth of fun. It’s even on my scorecard going into the seventh.

Round seven

And we’re into the second half of the fight. Conor hasn’t KO’d his opponent like he said he would - but this is more impressive than a victory through a wild punch. Remember that MMA fights don’t last as long as 12-round boxing contests so endurance could tell. Then again, Floyd is 40...
Conor turns Floyd again - a lot of shoving from the Irishman and he looks tired. Floyd catches him with a few more - and Conor’s punches look a little slow and sluggish.

Round eight

A lovely sidestep from Conor to avoid Mayweather’s blow - he looks light on his feet still but it’s his arms that appear tired: he’s just not hurting Floyd. That said, the Irishman gets a few blows in before Floyd counters. He ends the round an uppercut before Conor follows a right to the body with a head shot. Floyd’s round ... just.

Round nine

Conor has never fought for so long in a single professional fight. Maybe he knows he needs to go for the knockout because he charges out for the start of the round. He appears to have got in a big body blow but he’s warned for a low blow. As the fighters are separated, Conor puts in a late blow. With around 90 seconds to go, Conor check the clock and Floyd gathers hmself and comes in for the kill. He’s picking the Irishman off at will now and Conor tries to go into the clinch. The rookie’s hands are dropping. This could be over soon.

Floyd Mayweather wins by TKO!

I think Conor needs a KO now to win - but as he tires he’s losing any kind of power in his punches. It’s his lack of experience at a fight going this long that’s really hurting him. And Floyd comes forward - he’s rocked by a big right. The Irishman doesn’t go down though and continues. But his legs have gone and Floyd goes in for the kill - and the ref stops it.


The two men embrace in the ring. There’s clearly respect from Floyd - and no wonder, the rookie lasted 10 rounds with one of the great fighters.

Billionaire Kidnapper, Evans Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, has won his first case against the Nigeria Police Force.

Presiding Judge, Justice Anka Abdulaziz, of the Lagos Federal High Court, on Wednesday, ordered that the fundamental rights suit filed by Evans against the Nigeria Police, will go to trial.

Recall, that Evans through his Lawyer, had filed a N300 million lawsuit against the Police, as exemplary damages for his ‘illegal’ detention and harm caused by his media trial.

Anka dismissed the objections of the Counsel to the Police, Eze Emmanuel, and agreed with the Counsel to Evans, Olukoya Ogungbeje, that service on the first and second respondents have been affected.

The first and second respondents in the suit, are the Inspector General of Police, the Nigeria Police Force. The other respondents, are the Lagos State Police Commissioner, and the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS.

Justice Anka, also ruled that leave was not required for the matter to be heard during vacation, as Order 4 Rule 5 of the Fundamental Rights Enforcement Procedure Rules of 2009, enjoins the court to pursue speed and justice on issues of fundamental human rights.

THE All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State has removed its Publicity Secretary, Mr Godwin Erhahon following a vote of no confidence passed in him by the State Executive Committee of the party.
Consequently, Mr Chris Azebamwen, another APC leader from Orhiomwon Local Government Area of the state was appointed as his successor by the party.
The former Publicity secretary Erhahon, who reacted, said he was not surprised with the suspension, adding: “I thank God that is how it ended. All my entitlement in the party had been withheld since July last year. This month made it the 14th month, the three months suspension was supposed to end in March but it lingered till Thursday, so it did not come to me as surprise.”
“I use to think that the immediate past governor, Mr Adams Oshiomhole was behind it but I have seen he has no hand in it. The implication is that the merger between the CPC and the APC in the state had been completely wiped out.”

Doctors in India have been left utterly mind-boggled after delivering a baby and realising days later that the newborn was ‘pregnant’ with his own twin brother.
The doctors at the hospital in Mumbra, near Mumbai, discovered the baby inside his brother’s stomach after he was born.
The half-formed baby was successfully removed and the full-formed baby and his 19-year-old mother are both alive, healthy, and doing well.
It is thought that the bizarre circumstances were part of an incredibly rare ‘Fetus in fetu’ twin pregnancy – which has occurred less than 200 times in history.
Gynecologist Dr Neena Nichlani said:
It is a case of monozygotic twin pregnancy sharing single placenta, where one fetus wraps itself around and envelops the other and robs the host of its nutrition.
It can be implanted in skull, abdomen or tail bone of the host. Sometimes it can also lead to the death of the host because both get nutrition from a single cord.
The parasitic baby was lying behind the stomach deriving its nutrition from the host. The parasitic baby has been sent for further testing, reports are awaited.
To make things even more outlandish the baby was only discovered during a routine check of his twin brother nine days after the first birth.
Radiologist Dr. Bhavna Thorat carried out the scan and discovered another unborn baby living inside the stomach of his brother.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu met with former President of the United States Barack Obama at halftime of the Catalan club’s International Champions Cup 1-0 win against Manchester United on Wednesday.
Obama was present as a special guest at the FedEx Field to witness Barca win their second successive match in the U.S., with Neymar scoring the only goal of the game in the first half.
In a statement, Barca said that Obama was very “cordial” during the meeting, in which he talked with Bartomeu about the possibility of working with the club’s Foundation in the future.
“During Mr Obama’s encounter with Mr Bartomeu, the two talked about the work the FC Barcelona Foundation is carrying out in the United States,” the statement explained.
“In addition, they also talked about the FCBEscoles project and the women’s football team the club will be fielding in the country. The two also discussed the possibility of a future project involving both the Foundation and Mr Obama.”
James Costos, who was appointed as the club’s new strategic advisor in the United States earlier this month, organised the meeting.
Costos previously served as the U.S. Ambassador to Spain and Andorra from 2013 to 2017 and has also worked as a corporate and executive manager in the retail and entertainment industry, most notably at HBO.

Neymar’s goal against United was his third in two games, following his brace in the 2-1 win against Juventus at the weekend.

Barca has one final ICC game left in the States before returning to Spain ahead of the new season, against Clasico rivals Real Madrid in Miami on Saturday.
