The Application

Once I determined my NOC, obtained my language score and ECA report, I was all set to apply.

Step 1 - Check eligibility

I used the online tool Come to Canada to see if I meet the criteria to apply for Express Entry. It takes about 15 minutes. It needs your language test results, NOC and Education Credential Assessment (ECA) report. At the end, I was provided with a reference number.

Step 2 - Build your Express Entry profile

Since the result was positive from the Come to Canada tool, I could now create my express entry profile. I then filled out my profile with the following information.

1. Identity
2. Contact information
3. Education Detail
4. Work experience
5. Language
6. Family immigrating (dependants)

You also need:

1. Your passport, travel document or other national identity document
2. Your NOC job title and code
3. Your language test results
4. Your Educational Credential Assessment
5. Copy of written job offer from an employer in Canada (if you have one)
6. Reference code from Come to Canada (Example: JM1234567890)
7. Express Entry Candidate Pool

Our road to getting Canadian PR

Getting Permanent Residency in Canada is a straight forward and transparent process. We had applied under the Federal Skilled Workers program and got our PR in less than 6 months from the date we posted our application. We felt the process was simple and well defined on their website www.cic.gc.ca. Additionally CIC officials are highly responsive and can be reached via email or phone for any queries and concerns.

Note, we are not immigration lawyers or consultants and each persons situation is different and with varying levels of complexity. Exercise your own judgement when choosing to either go it on your own or have an immigration professional do your paperwork.

Preparing to Apply

Being a Software Engineers looking to move to Canada I was lucky. My skills were needed and listed on the NOC - National Occupational Classification list. That means I qualified to apply under the Federal Skilled Workers program for Permanent Residency in Canada. Before I filled out your application under the Express Entry program I needed to have the following three things ready in hand.

Figure out the NOC code most closely related to my skill and work experience. I had to carefully read the skill description and example titles to make sure it closely matched my work experience.

I has to take a language test to prove my proficiency in English. So be quick to book your English proficiency test with IELTS. You need the language score to get started with your application.

Obtain ECA - [Educational Credential Assessment Report](https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/become-candidate/eligibility/education-assessed.html). Since I was educated Outside Canada, I needed to have my educational credentials assessed against Canadian standards. I used WES - (World Education Services)[https://www.wes.org/ca/eca/] to get our ECA report, they take about 20 days once you have posted them your degree.

Business / Re: Astonishing Secrets Successful Nigerian Business Owners Never Told You -Exposed! by Comsol: 8:22pm On Feb 20, 2017
1 - LOVE THE HELL OUT OF OTHERS AND YOU WILL EVENTUALLY HAVE ALL THE ICE CREAM YOU CAN EAT.

When you love others with a genuine heart, you become more present to their feelings which include their pains and needs. You approach them from the position of, “How can I improve this person’s life? How can I add value to this person’s life?” as opposed to, “Where can I get money? COME ON GIVE ME THE MONEY!”.
This is the mindset I see a lot of people have: “The XYZ market is a $50B market and is about to explode 30% within the next 2 years. I’m going to get into that and get a piece of the pie!”. The ice cream shop has the right to refuse service to anyone and does not serve those with that mindset. We only serve ice cream to those who love others and solve their pains. Well, maybe we’ll offer plain vanilla to the 99% who don’t.
Do you think someone will tell you their pains and needs if you genuinely show them that you want to help improve their lives? Or are they more likely to tell you their pains if you approach them from the angle of, “Hey would you buy this product from me? Come on, buy it!”
When you love the hell out of others, you begin building a brand with a noticeable heart. Customers WILL notice this and you will develop a loyal following. They will tell their friends and post it all over Facebook. You notice how Café Neo has a loyal following of fans? That’s because they show love for their employees and love for their customers by striving to always satisfy everyone’s needs. It’s a coffee joint with a frigging culture. I love it. The employees are always joyful as hell. The company has HEART and SOUL. Compare that to the majority of other fast food joints who are just a cold cash taker.
Sometimes it’s not always about profit. Love others first and the ice cream will come.
Love others. Drop the greed because it will blind you to opportunities for more ice cream around you. When you harness this mindset for a long enough amount of time, you will see the abundance of possibilities and realize the ice cream is everywhere. Fear and scarcity WILL be replaced by confidence and abundance.
The moment you stop caring about money is the moment you start making money.
Business / Astonishing Secrets Successful Nigerian Business Owners Never Told You -Exposed! by Comsol: 6:10am On Feb 20, 2017
I’m starting this thread because these guys gave me every reason to share the ice cream with others. I have mad respect for them so naturally it had to be done. All I used to have was a little pint of ice cream for myself and now I have an ice cream factory for everybody to eat from! There is a seat reserved for you at the table of abundance, but it’s up to you to work for it.

I will be explaining the secret sides of their success they never speak of, but have become glaringly obvious to those who study the WHY and HOW behind their success.

But before I dive into giving you some ice cream, a little bit about myself…
I was a wantrepreneur for a long time, but didn’t even know it. Yes, I ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed. Started a bunch of different businesses for all the wrong reasons so I ultimately failed at each one. A few years into it, I finally hit the bottom and got sick of the shit life I was living so I wrote into my journal and started reflecting. It went something like, “I’m tired of who I am. Tired of the life I’m living. Tired of seeing all my friends get ahead in their corporate job while I’m here trying to figure things out. Just sick of my life in general”. Bottom line, I was at my lowest point and the fire under my ass was burning so hot that I had no other choice but to take some dedicated immediate action to get real results…or risk being forever frustrated in the hamster wheel of the 9-5.

Studied some successful businesses very closely and began to see exactly what they were doing. I wasn’t looking for business strategies. I wanted to know and understand the mindset behind their success. Why were they doing X? How were they doing Y?

Started learning copy. I read some books and copied some sales letters by hand for a few months. Armed with my new knowledge of copy, I set forth to start a business. While interviewing many different people in many different industries, I discovered a real need that couldn’t be solved online but could be taken care of offline…I prefer offline businesses anyway so I jumped into it head first. You can start an offline business faster because you don’t have to spend months on software development.

30 days later my sales were in the low 5-figure range. Let me tell you…when you go from making crap money and barely scraping to get by, to suddenly making 5-figures a month the feeling is sweeter than a gallon of ice cream.

That’s my story in a nutshell. I left out a lot of the details of the mental struggle: broken heart, angry parents, isolated friends, etc. You get the point.

Now let’s dive into giving you some ice cream....

Prior to the election, GEJ and pdp were not an option for Nigerians and I am afraid they are still not.

At least one positive from the election was breaking the jinx that the incumbent cannot be defeated. We need another opposition party to check Bubu and APC aside pdp

You missed the point here. This isn't about any political affiliation but rather about Nigeria as a nation. How we can make this country great and economic vibrant.

The masses are suffering and people are dying of starvation without any hope of where the next meal will come from.
Businesses are winding down every day because of the flip flop economy policies by this government. As someone put it, " Its better to be in hell than to do business in Nigeria"

Politics / Feyi Fawehinmi: I’m Sorry If I Convinced Anyone To Vote For This Government by Comsol: 12:03pm On Aug 10, 2016
2 days ago, the minister of agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, released the following statement:

The Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development — Chief Audu Ogbeh has threatened to shut down any fertiliser plant that denies local farmers access, while exporting the same commodities. The minister made this known following allegations that one of the two big urea plants in Nigeria is producing for export while selling to Nigerian farmers at skyrocketed prices, making affordability and accessibility difficult.

“Two urea plants are big enough to run the Nigerian demands. We know their capacities. But where there are allegations that some people are exporting instead of putting in the Nigerian market, and prices shot to N10,000 per bag of urea, we became extremely angry with them. Thank God now, many of them have started producing and putting into the market. The price is already dropping,” Chief Ogbeh observed.

“But, we are warning against the future. There can’t be any priority but the Nigerian market. If there is a surplus, they are free to export. But, unless and until there is a surplus, we can’t sit by and watch people selling fertiliser beyond the shores of Nigeria when the local farmers have nothing to buy. And we are saying the same to others. The priority is the Nigerian market.”

According to the minister, “Nigeria is a good market for fertilizers, therefore there is no reason to side-track this market and create difficulties for farmers. The government is giving every support it can to people who want to manufacture locally; and we will always give. So, we need absolute cooperation from all of them.”

There has to be a point where you say ‘enough’. And for me this is it. To the extent that I can afford to have some principles, I cannot have anything to do with people who are so openly hostile to enterprise and who speak the language of Venezuela to the economy.

You can run a simple google search on ‘maduro threatens to shut’ and you will see results where the Venezuelan president is using the same language as Audu Ogbeh to threaten businesses. It did not start with Nicolas Maduro — it began with Hugo Chavez who conveniently died before oil prices crashed. Today, Venezuela is a complete humanitarian disaster that is on the brink of complete implosion.

Whether or not Audu Ogbeh carries out his threat, he has publicly shown the type of person he is and the kind of government he is part of. If you run a fertiliser business, you will have to find some way of protecting yourself just in case he actually carries out his threat. There is no way this can be good for consumers. If it was as easy as ordering prices to come down which country won’t be doing it? Why will some countries bother with the hard work of allowing markets do the job of bringing down prices?

For one year, some of us tried as hard as we could to get the government to leave the currency alone and let markets work. They only agreed to do it after they had tried everything else and it didn’t work. But even at that, they cannot help themselves. The first month was spent on trying to rig the market to keep the naira at N280. When that failed, they tried all sorts of things including mandating oil companies to only sell their dollars to oil marketers —an idea so foolish that even they quickly backed down from it.

The latest idiocy is to tell people like me that I can only use Western Union or MoneyGram to send my own money to Nigeria. I have not used Western Union to send money in close to 5 years now and I don’t know anyone who still uses them. We abandoned them for a reason. For the CBN to try to force us to go back to something we walked away from is so laughably idiotic that I will give them a few weeks to reverse themselves again.

Now they are telling BDCs that they are only allowed to add a 2% margin to forex sales. In a couple of months time, the forex landscape will be such that no one will remember that these same people ‘floated’ the naira a couple of months ago.

A few weeks ago, the CBN governor was in New York to meet with some investors and try to convince them to return to Nigeria. One of the big fund managers refused to meet at all. Please understand this — the CBN governor was in their city and they refused to meet him. Nigeria has less than zero credibility in the eyes of foreign investors right now. And less than a month later, he has proved them correct by constantly fiddling with the rules and trying all kinds of shenanigans. They know he is not reliable so nothing that comes out of his mouth can be believed.

The logic of floating the naira some of us campaigned for was simple — a transparently priced currency would give investors confidence to bring their money into the country after they all ran away. The inflow of forex would then reduce the pressure on the naira and make life a little less painful for Nigerians who are exposed to forex through the price of imported goods.

When the government then goes back to its vomit by fiddling with the market. When it keeps a CBN governor who has less than zero credibility with the people we are trying to entice back into the country. When the agriculture minister is openly threatening private businesses based on the idea that everything you have is only yours because the government allow you to have it. When the government is directly increasing the suffering of Nigerians even though it claims to be doing the opposite.

One must say enough.

It is possible that I convinced a couple of people to vote for Buhari and the APC. I owe them an apology. I never expected this. The instincts of these people is to run with their expired ideas directly in the face of all the contrary evidence i.e. the 21st century. In fact, they are not interested in evidence, they are so convinced of their own foolishness. A bunch of undercover communists and unreconstructed socialists.

I have nothing in common with such people and yet I somehow donated money to them and canvassed people to vote for them. I will freely say that this is one of the biggest lessons I have learnt in my life so far.

Was the evidence there all along? Possibly. The adrenaline of changing a government we were tired of closed eyes to the obvious. Sometimes there are no good choices and with or without me, Buhari and his APC co-travellers would have won anyway. I doubt I can swing 10 votes in a Nigerian election.

But what I should have done is to have been more skeptical. Ideas should have been interrogated a lot more. Even if it ended up not making a difference, it would still have been important to do so. Not just so one can say ‘I told you so’ but perhaps to have forced a few concessions and to make them know we were watching closely. If enough of us had done this, perhaps the APC would not have the confidence to be walking away so blatantly from the product it sold during the campaign as it is doing today.

It is hard to see where respite will come from. Unless oil prices go back up significantly, there is really nothing coming out of the government that gives you any confidence they know what they are doing. The ‘smart’ people who were supposed to lead sensible reforms and drive the change agenda have been reduced to actors in a silent movie.

In place of a change agenda that was promised, Nigerians are now offered a daily dose of high drama and the redefinition of extant words. ‘Padding’ now means a different thing from what it used to mean.

If I convinced even 10 people to vote for Buhari, then I owe them an apology. For not properly interrogating the people who offered themselves as the solution to Nigeria’s problems. Not because it would have made a difference but because it was the right thing to do. Nigeria was always the point.

I feel sad and ashamed at the way things are unfolding. I speak to people in Nigeria and the level of sadness without even the outline of a vision of a better tomorrow from the leadership fills me with despair. I speak to some people in government and even they know that things are not working. The government that promised change is now so bound up in politics that changing anything is practically impossible even when they know the thing is not working.

This has been a chastening experience for me. There are hard lessons to be learnt here.

So, even if you were 99% convinced of voting for the APC last year and you read something from me that finally pushed you to 100%, I apologise. If you overcame your skepticism because you thought the arguments that people like me made carried some sense, I also apologise.

All that is left to do now is try as much as possible to keep the government from tipping Nigeria over the cliff. It is already standing at the edge and is determined to jump off. And more importantly to start a process of ensuring that mistakes made last year are not made again in the future. It is the right thing to do.

Sorry

Travel / Nigeria’s First Ever High-speed Rail Is Finally Here by Comsol: 2:21pm On Jan 26, 2016

Nigeria’s first ever high speed train service will open for service in March 2016. It is the double-track, standard gauge between Abuja and Kaduna that runs at 120Km and 150 Km an hour. Come March, travelers will be able to journey from Abuja to Kaduna (and vice-versa) in less than an hour.

The project which was just completed by the China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) cost $849 million. The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Adeseyi Sijuwade while addressing the media in Lagos said

“Next month, we’ll be taking delivery of modern coaches to run on the standard gauge line, specifically for the Abuja-Kaduna line, so that that service can commence immediately,”

According to him, the corporation was looking at a February-March timeline to commence delivery of services.

The rail project was supposedly completed in December 2014, but was never delivered. And even if the delivery is 15 months later than expected, it is good news that it finally works considering the fact that it has spanned nearly four administrations.

Spanning from the Obasanjo administration to present, an active and efficient rail system has been marred for a long time by inefficiencies and corruption on a massive scale. As since the contract was awarded in the Obasanjo era, there has not been any positive move to see its fruition.

Trains were originally designed to transport heavy duty goods like the goods ferried from the seaports on giant trailers that block and damage the road causing traffic gridlock. Some rail tracks have been rendered dysfunctional and unusable from the many years of being left idle.

A working rail system is key to our messed up transportation system as roads would be eased off and traffic gridlocks become a thing of the past. The Lagos to Ibadan route was also commissioned in 2010 with this Abuja-Kaduna route, as well as the Lagos to Calabar route.

The government should also consider other routes that are frequently traveled and are heavily congested, like roads out of Lagos to other commercial hubs.

Politics / Oil Price Falls Towards $40! Nigeria Brace Up For Tougher Times -wsj by Comsol: 9:42am On Nov 14, 2015
The price of U.S. oil tumbled near $40 a barrel, capping a tumultuous week across commodities.

Fresh signs of increasing supplies and slackening demand, especially in China, pummeled markets from crude oil to coffee to copper. The S&P GSCI index, which tracks the prices of 24 commodities, shed 4% this past week to close at its lowest level since August.

The declines this week came as a flurry of disappointing economic data came out of China, a major consumer of raw materials. Meanwhile, indications emerged that commodity supplies would remain abundant longer than many investors had expected. Another factor was a strengthening dollar, which encouraged producers outside the U.S. to ramp up commodity sales, while concerns rose about global demand.

Driving the move lower is “evidence of a general economic slowdown outside the U.S., combined with supply gluts in many different commodities,” said Bill O’Neill, a broker with Logic Advisors. “A lot of these markets are cheap, but they can get cheaper.”

The drop in commodity prices rippled through other financial markets. Share prices of miners and oil producers plunged, weighing on stock indexes. On Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 202.83 points, or 1.2%, to 17245.24, falling 3.7% on the week, its first weekly decline in nearly two months. Currencies of developing economies dependent on commodity exports, such as Brazil and South Africa, slumped.

The selloff follows a period of relative stability across commodity markets in October.

The forces pushing down on commodities this past week were on prominent display in the oil market. Both the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and the International Energy Agency sounded alarms about large stockpiles of crude oil around the world, which could keep prices low even if non-OPEC production declines next year as expected.

Fashion / The Business Face Of The Nigerian Beauty Industry by Comsol: 6:38am On Nov 09, 2015

The Opportunities
The Nigerian beauty industry, employing over a million people and contributing billions to the economy, so isn’t it time to take its impact more seriously?

Nigeria with a population of over 170 million people and a GDP growth rate of 8% annually is expected to become the 3rd largest population in the world by 2050. This puts Nigeria among the fastest growing markets in Africa. Faster than Brazil and Russia, according to a report by the IMF, the potential is massive.

When it comes to the beauty and wellness industry, this market is expected to double over the next two decades with an estimated annual growth rate ranging from 5% to double digits. A report by Euromonitor in 2012 projected the Nigerian beauty and wellness market to value about $3 billion in 2017. The industry had already generated over $2 billion in 2014 with skincare having a market share of 33%, hair care – 25%, makeup – 17% and fragrances – 17%.
With such market growth, Nigeria is considered as the African rising star for the beauty market. 77% of Nigerian women use skin enhancement products – the largest percentage in the world.

“World over, the makeup industry is a multi-billion dollar one, with Nigeria and the African continent as a whole at the heart of it all. The singular fact that international brands like Maybelline are making its way into the African market with Nigeria as its main market is a sole testimony to the fact that we are ripe for business. And that is the reason I’m standing here before you, for us to enlighten one another on innovative ways to globally position our indigenous beauty and makeup brands” Says Idy Enang, the Managing Director of L’Oréal Central West Africa.

Also, the growth rate in this sector is mostly driven by the growing population which in turn translates into a strong consumer base. This particularly includes the young and the middle class population, increasing urbanization, improving levels of education, the willingness to spend a larger proportion of their income on beauty products due to greater exposure to the western culture and rise of female independence. The industry is hence expanding to major cities, and businesses have also started to explore new venues for rejuvenation like spa, beauty and wellness centres across the country. With so much development in the sector, there is huge potential benefit for consumers utilizing the services.

As a result of such growth perspectives, it is easy to understand why Nigeria is targeted as a key country of focus by major international beauty brands like Unilever, P&G and L’Oreal, representing over 20% of the market share.
A major Indian group, Godrej also came into the market as a major player to bank heavily on buyouts. They have made key acquisition in Nigeria by buying Tura for $50 million.

Different events and platforms such as Beauty in Africa Exhibition and Conference, Makeup in Nigeria Conference and Pops Concepts MakeUp Fair Series are great opportunities for gathering makeup professionals, makeup brands and makeup lovers in Africa. These are educative platforms for acclaimed makeup professionals, industry educators and icons to gather, network, share and inform stakeholders.

Beauty in Africa is the region largest event dedicated to beauty and wellness. Launched in 2014 with 32 influential beauty brands were at the launch of Beauty Africa Exhibition and Conferences, showcasing the newest products and services on the market to over 1,200 attendees from across West Africa.
Beauty Africa provided a unique platform for these key industry players to demonstrate the latest collections of cosmetics, top-of-the-range wigs and extensions, as well as the latest skincare ranges.

Makeup In Nigeria Conference (MINC) was launched in 2014. With over 700 aspiring and established makeup artists, beauty bloggers and enthusiasts, TV stations and more, the event was indeed a great start to many more.
For MINC, it was about collaboration and developing industry standards to successfully compete internationally. Having a conference of that nature was one way of providing a building block for present operators and those looking to learn more about the industry.

Pops Concepts MakeUp Fair Series is one of the oldest and leading platforms in this industry founded in 2010 and headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria. The MakeUp Fair Series is one of the brands of POPs! which is a cross national industry event that tours major cities in Nigeria annually. The popular platform was created by Omolola Faleye the Creative Director of POPs Concepts and The Vice President of The MakeUp Fair Series with the vision of revolutionising the makeup business in Nigeria by providing a credible and vibrant platform for industry professionals and businesses to showcase their brands, services, and products to an interested and engaged audience. They also provide opportunities for networking and learning.
Unlike other exhibition platforms which hold in only one city permanently and once a year, The MakeUp Fair Series is a cross-national event that tours Nigeria, visiting different cities in the year.

The Challenges
However, there are some interesting challenges the beauty and wellness industry currently face like with other industries.
The distribution network is complicated and unstructured. The sector is wholly unorganized in the way services are accessed and rendered to consumers.
The need to adapt the products to local consumers’ requirements: for instance, make-up needs to be adapted to skin colour and texture.
Small market players are living in the shadow of big international brands.
Despite fierce competition in the sector, there is no set benchmark for quality.
On the business side there is no efficient tool to manage the bookings, appointments, and payments.

AceBeauti Solution

It was high time this vertical market be explored and thus AceBeauti was borned. AceBeauti aims to bring thousands of salon owners and independent professional stylists on its platform when launched.
AceBeauti is an early stage location-based startup in Nigeria that helps users discover and book beauty services in and around their neighbourhood based on reviews and recommendations from trusted friends. The platform is designed to simplify the way beauty services are accessed and rendered in Nigeria.
Customers can search based on their current location, find salons, spas, independent professional stylists, compare prices, read customer reviews and instantly book the service they need within seconds. It’s that simple!
Our platform also offers a plethora of business opportunities for salon owners and professional Stylists by exposing them to a wider audience, both online and offline.
Founded just a couple of weeks ago, AceBeauti has already started recruiting independent beauty professionals and salon owners to its subscribers’ list in Port Harcourt, having signed up about 60 and adding more on a daily basis, with over 100 potential customers signed up. AceBeauti chose to focus on Port Harcourt currently rather than launching in the entire country. We believe this approach will enable us to concentrate and scale up quickly. AceBeauti will curate and verify all such professionals and help link customers to patronize them.
We are currently validating and testing our idea as we build the product. While most early stage startups fished for confirmation bias, AceBeauti developed a very creative validating strategy. A culture of testing by directly approaching and speaking with salons/spa owners and independent professional stylists.
This is very important to us because, this technology backed structure and timely feedback from these professionals, will enable our team build an innovative and unique framework that will give birth to the first of its kind app in Nigeria catering for the needs of the beauty and wellness industry.
The final output we believe will be the go-to intuitive platform for users ranging from working professionals, students, busy mothers, brides, jetsetters, and celebrities that want to be way ahead of the competition.

Career / Lacasera Shuts Down Operations; Sacks All Staff by Comsol: 12:06pm On Sep 14, 2015

Scores of angry workers of La Casera Company Plc staged a protest, on Monday, in Lagos after about 700 workers received their sack letters, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported.

The workers said they are protesting because the company’s management responded to their efforts at unionism by firing all of them.
The company, however, described the protest as an invasion of its premises by ‘hoodlums.’

Aggrieved workers

NAN reported that the crisis began after the workers arrived at the company premises in Amuwo Odofin Industrial Estate, Mile 2, Lagos, and found the gate locked against them and a notice of disengagement pasted at the entrance.

The notice, dated September 14 and addressed to all members of staff, stated that “as a result of the unwarranted breaking-in and invasion of our business premises on September 11, we cannot guarantee the well-being of our employees from hired hoodlums and their collaborators.

“As a result of this unprovoked act of vandalism, we are unable to continue operations under this circumstance. Unfortunately, we regret to inform all our staff of their immediate disengagement.”

The workers, under the aegis of the National Union of Food, Beverage and Tobacco Employees (NUFBTE), condemned the act, noting that some of them had worked for between five and 15 years.

Mr Mike Olarenwaju, Head of Education Department in NUFBTE, who spoke for the workers, said that for 12 years, the company denied workers the right to be unionised.

Olarenwaju said that when an in-house union was about to be inaugurated, the management of the company sacked the chairman, which made the NUFBTE officials to visit the company on Friday, September 11 to address the workers.

“We were surprised today that the company locked the gate and sacked the workers. Meanwhile, the case between the workers and the company over unionisation is currently at the National Industrial Court,” he said.

Olanrewaju urged the government to intervene in issues of unfair labour practices being perpetrated by foreign companies.
He said that until the workers were re-absorbed, the union would continue to picket the company.

Mr Idowu Adelakun, the state Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), told NAN that the act of calling labour officials hoodlums was wrong and vowed that labour would not allow the company to function until the matter was resolved.

Lacasera is a beverage company owned by Indians which started operations in Nigeria in 2000.

When contacted, the Human Resources Manager of the company, identified as Chief Otemewo, told NAN on phone that he was not aware of the crisis and promised to call back when he obtained details of the sack. (NAN)

Politics / Opinion! Can An Idea Be Stolen? by Comsol: 10:59am On Sep 12, 2015
Hello guys, I’m pre-launching a project I recently embarked on. It’s called Ideas Hunt, you can find it here. A hand-curated weekly newsletter of the TOP4 problems our community of aspiring entrepreneurs, startups & wantrepreneurs want solved!!

We are always looking for interesting problems in many fields because we believe that building a successful startup or becoming a great entrepreneur is about solving a problem and adding values to people's lives.

While testing the app and seeking feedback and critiquing, I had ran into many people say they don’t want their ideas to be stolen even when that isn’t the main aim of the project. This is the single major feedback I’m getting and I find that interesting.

Though I never tried to argue with them knowing they are my vita assets in the testing phase. I was mainly concerned in getting feedback on the ways to improve the project and trying to understand their ‘pain points’
I would like to know if ideas are easily stolen as people probably think they are.

I have always believe in the saying that ideas are worthless, there is no need stealing them and that it’s all about execution. For an idea to be stolen, it means someone probably had to execute it and that’s the hardest part of it. If you have an idea, probably 20 other people have got that similar idea, it all boils down to the first person who takes action and successfully see that the idea is executed from start to finish and brought to the market that succeeds. Though with all the disruptive startups springing up everywhere, this might not entirely be true.
However, those 20 people might have the same basic concept of an idea but that each would implement it differently depending on their thought process, resources at their disposal. That being said, the fact that some persons have the same idea does not necessary guarantee the same amount of success.

No one will ever pay you a shiit just because you have that one billion dollars idea. If you doubt just try take that your one billion dollars idea and walk into a bank and try selling it to anyone. No matter how fantastic that idea seems you’ll absolutely find no buyer and I repeat it’s all about execution.

For example, a user mentioned in my website ideashuntng.com about an idea of developing a groundbreaking financial service tool in form of an app that will help people save more and make better investment decisions. I thought that's a fantastic idea and interesting problem. And so what? Even if that idea sounds great and brilliant on paper and it’s going to dominate the billion dollar industry, there are many other things one needs to consider.

You have to design that tool, you have to develop it, take it to the apps stores and you have to market it. You have to compete with other existing financial tools out there and take market share and trust me none of those processes are easy to come by or cheap.
My question is this, are they going to pay you a billion dollars a year for that amazing idea of yours? Not in my lifetime.

Okay lets say you are lucky enough and you walk up to an investment banker or company and tell them about your idea and they thought that’s a brilliant idea and wants to buy it. What exactly would they be paying you a million dollars a year for? An incorporeal idea? No sales nothing!
To conclude this hypothesis, ideas aren't worth shit and no one will steal your ideas. As someone rightly put, “The only people who think ideas are worth anything - are the people who have them”

Go get that idea executed and stop thinking that someone is out there lying in wait to steal your idea. This is not only annoying and counterproductive but also simply untrue.

I thought that's a great idea and a good site, however, the background colour looks alittle too mean to the eyes. You may want to see what others think too.

Congrats and I have subscribed

Thank you for your good comment and for subscribing grin grin Good point you raised there, that's one area we struggled with, colours!!! We are trying to keep it simple and avoid using multiple colours.

We'll be looking more closely on that. Thank you for that feedback.

Were you expecting several F16s to fly behind the presidential jet to Abuja? Anyways Buhari was invited by the US and he has gotten commitment from one of our allies to help fight Boko Haram and return stolen funds.

So the US is now one of our allies? I thought you're just being delusional.

PRESIDENT BUHARI: Thank you very much, (inaudible). I’m very pleased to get this opportunity to thank the Secretary of State because his visit to Nigeria, which he’s just referred to, since his visit seemed like a friend to Nigeria. As the United States’ message sent to the previous administration was clean and clear that the United States would not accept anything extraconstitutional, that prepared the minds of Nigerians to back us and to arrive where we are today. Nigeria will remain very grateful to the United States, to the President, and to the Secretary of State. He saw the president then, he saw the chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, and he saw the opposition. And by the day, the United States maintained pressure on the government, the law enforcement agencies, and the election officials to make sure that the election was free and fair.

We thank God, we thank the United States, we thank technology for the introduction of a permanent voter’s card and reader cards made so much difference from previous elections. I thank you very much, Secretary. Thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen of the press.

SECRETARY KERRY: Thank you, Mr. President.

PRESIDENT BUHARI: Thank you very much. Happy to see you.

SECRETARY KERRY: Thank you very much, everybody. Thank you. We’re going to have a working lunch now. Thank you.
