Former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has criticized the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over its choice of former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff as the party’s new chairman.
Fani-Kayode further described Sheriff as an “intellectually-challenged, morally-depraved and despicable character” in a new article written in reaction to the appointment.

On the 16th of February 2016, the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) adopted Senator Ali Modu Sheriff (aka SARS), a two-time ANPP Governor of Borno state, a former ANPP senator, the former Chairman of the All Peoples Congress (APC) Board of Trustees and the indisputable founder of Boko Haram as its Acting National Chairman. Modu-Sheriff is also the erstwhile godfather and sponsor of Governor Shettima Ali, the present APC Governor of Borno state (until they fell out),
He is a man that has a very deep and profound relationship and association with Idris Deby, the President of Chad and he is a man whose son is married to the daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Many have argued that his allegiance is more to the Republic of Chad than it is to Nigeria, that he is an agent of the Chadian intelligence agencies and that he is a Chadian citizen who often flaunts his Chadian passport.
I cannot confirm the veracity of these assertions but one thing that I know is that most of Modu Sheriff's funding and stupendous wealth emanates primarily from the Republic of Chad and that that country is as much a home to him as is Nigeria. Yet it is not his connection with Chad that give me cause for concern. Rather it is his role in the establishment of Boko Haram.
The truth is that appointing him as our Acting National Chairman is like appointing Jack the Ripper as the leader of the Conservative party in Victorian England. Kudos must go to the elders in the PDP Board of Trustees, a number of State Party Chairmen and a number of key individuals in the PDP Ministers Forum for taking a courageous and noble stand by rejecting and resisting the imposition of this abominable monstrosity.
What Ali Modu Sheriff stands for and represents is utterly repugnant to every fiber of my being. Yet I have no objection to his being a member of the PDP simply because politics is a game of numbers. It is a game in which everyone, no matter how big or small, counts.
If you want your party to grow and make progress you must accept the good, the bad and the ugly. To this end when he left the APC and joined the PDP sometime back, I was one of those that gladly welcomed him into our ranks and defended him in the public realm. This was at a time when others criticized the party for accepting him.
There is however a world of difference between accepting him as one of the many leaders of the PDP and appointing him as the Acting National Chairman. Others may seek to justify such a course of action but I cannot, in good conscience, do so.
To me it is a matter of principle. If we accept this then on what moral grounds did we condemn or oppose the APC or the APC-led Federal Government during the course of the last Presidential election? If we are comfortable with the likes of Ali Modu Sheriff leading us then on what basis did we criticize and oppose President Muhammadu Buhari for appearing to support Boko Haram when he said ''an attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the north''?
If we insist on Ali Modu Sheriff being our National Chairman then we may as well go and apologize to the APC for all our past criticisms and condemnations and join them. On what basis can we accept as our National Chairman a man who established, encouraged, supported and nurtured an organisation that later metamorphosised into Boko Haram?
This is a terrorist organisation whose ultimate objective is to turn Nigeria into an Islamic fundamentalist state by the use of terror and the force of arms? On what basis can we accept a man to lead us whose Commissioner of Religious Affairs when he was Governor of Borno state, one Alhaji Buji Foi, was the de facto operational commander of Boko Haram.
The man was later murdered by those closest to him after investigations into who and how Boko Haram was founded commenced. On what basis can we accept as our National Chairman a man who helped to create an organisation that wishes to establish sharia as the norm in our country, repeal all our criminal and civil laws, ban all our civil liberties and human rights, proscribe the teaching of western education in our schools, turn our women into 6th century sex slaves and abrogate the secularity of our state.
On what basis can we accept as our leader a man who supported a group that wishes to suspend our constitution, wipe out the Christian faith and the practice of moderate Islam in our country and create an evil ISIL-type empire in our nation? I really do wonder whether those that made this decision have lost all sense of rationality?
I wonder whether they have lost their ability to see reason properly and to exercise their discretion in a logical, responsible and lucid manner? I wonder whether they have lost their fear of God? I wonder whether they have forgotten the evil that was visited on our people, and is still being visited on them, over the last seven years by Boko Haram?
I wonder whether they know at whose instance it was that Mohammed Yusuf, the erstwhile leader of Boko Haram, was killed by our security forces whilst in police custody in 2009 just so that he wouldn't live to tell the whole world who gave him the funds to set up his murderous cult? I wonder whether they have forgotten the terrible havoc that Boko Haram unleashed on our citizens? I wonder whether they have forgotten the tears, wailing and suffering of the bereaved.
I wonder whether they have forgotten the slaughter of the innocents. I wonder whether they have forgotten those that were beheaded, those that were chopped to pieces and thrown down wells like dog meat and those that were burnt alive?
I wonder whether they have forgotten the savage and bestial rape, murder and abduction of the Chibok girls and all the other little girls that suffered a similar fate in recent times? I wonder whether they have forgotten that our nation is still at war with the bloodthirsty barbarians that committed these atrocities?
Since when did we, as a political party, lose our memories and jettison our moral compass in this way? Since when did we become so callous, shameless and insensitive? Since when did greed and the lust for power and money determine and motivate our every course of action? Since when did we throw away caution, decency and principle?
Since when did we become so barbarous and uncivilized? Since when did so few make a decision that will affect the lives and fortunes of so many in a profoundly negative way? Have we forgotten about the priests and servants of the Living God that were crucified by Boko Haram at their own church alters?
Have we forgotten those that had their homes, schools, churches, mosques and properties pillaged, robbed and burnt to the ground by this group of godless Phillistines? Have we forgotten that the international community, through the International Terror Index, has rightly described Boko Haram as the ''most deadly terrorist organization in the world''?
Have we forgotten those gallant young military officers that were killed at the war front whilst fighting this evil plague, all in their quest to keep us safe, to secure our borders and to protect our property and people?
Does all that count for nothing? Is this the way to pay them back for their great sacrifice and their noble courage? Are we prepared to throw away all decency and morality just to seek favor with a handful of misguided mortals and in a futile attempt to win political power?
Simply put has the leadership of the PDP gone completely mad or are they working for elements outside the PDP? Are they suggesting that you need a godless Haramite to run the affairs of the party before we can ever win power at the center again? Where is the patience and fortitude that is required from true leaders? Where is their faith in God?
Where is their sincerity of purpose? Does the leadership of the PDP really believe that it has kept faith with the founding fathers of the party, those that trusted them with power and those that bestowed them with leadership? There were so many other people that they could have chosen to lead our party from the north-east.
There were people like Mohammed Wakil, Nuhu Ribadu, Bala Mohammed, Wilberforce Juta, Aliyu Modibbo, Ahmed Gulak and so many others that could have been appointed. These are all committed people with impeccable records of public service, high moral standing and good character.
Instead of doing so the leadership of the party chose to impose the most controversial, intellectually-challenged, morally-depraved and despicable character that they possibly could to lead us and when asked why they did so we were told that it was because ''he has plenty of money to spend on the party'' and no less than ''5 private jets'' to lend out to those who needed a free plane ride. Evidently we have sold our birthright and heritage, not just for a mess of pottage like Esau, but rather for a free ride on a private jet. This is what a party that was once led by successive groups of seasoned and formidable intellectuals and great men of power, vision, courage and good character has been reduced to.
This is what the party that was founded and once led by giants like President Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Tony Anenih, General Ibrahim Babangida, General Aliyu Gusau, Alhaji Adamu Ciroma, General T.Y. Danjuma, Vice President Abubakar Atiku, President Umaru Yar’adua, President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Bode George, Col. Ahmadu Alli, Chief E.K. Clark, Professor Jerry Gana, Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, Chief Ken Nnamani and so many others has degenerated to?
What a pity! What a monumental tragedy! This is a party that once boasted of having in its ranks many promising and dynamic bright young stars that were collectively capable of shaking the very foundation of the civilized world and creating new frontiers and greater hope for the future of our people and our beleaguered nation.
How are the mighty fallen. What on earth has happened to us? As the Book of Galatians in the Holy Bible asks, ''who has bewitched us''? Over the the course of the last 17 years, in terms of the quality of party leadership, the PDP has gradually descended into the unceremonious cesspit of mediocrity.
Worst still, with the recent appointment of Ali Modu Sheriff as our Acting National Chairman, we have chosen to spit in the wind, sleep with the dogs, dance on the graves of our fallen heroes, piss on the blood and bones of the slaughtered innocents and wallow in the filthy pool of compromise, deceit, doublespeak and shame.
As a consequence of this calamitous decision we have, literally overnight, become a shell, nay a shadow, of what we used to be. Unfolding events will prove my assertion true. I have no doubt that time will eventually prove me right and vindicate me. The bitter truth is that this arrangement is an affront against the Living God and it cannot stand.
Yet if it does stand the party will pay a heavy price for it because it will inevitably lead to the end of the PDP as we know it. Imposing Ali Modu-Sheriff is an insult to all those that have fought for, led, served, defended, supported and risked everything for the party, at every level, over the last 17 years. Only the deeply malevolent can be comfortable with such an arrangement. It is evil. It is godless. It is indefensible.
It is shameful and as long as it stands the PDP does not have the moral standing or authority to criticize or condemn others. Those that made this decision behind closed doors and without proper or wide consultations have murdered sleep.
They have not only betrayed the confidence that the rest of us bestowed upon them but they have also prepared the coffin for our great party and dug its grave. It is a tragedy of monumental proportions and I have little doubt that God will judge them for what they have done.

This is one more sign of the beginning of birth pangs. Our science and technology shares a lot with Tom and Jerry as it cannot help anyone in this matter. Christ is calling because He is coming, the Second Coming, I mean.

Sent Back with a New Name
Then Peter said, "Now get up and go back to where you came from. Speak to the people who worship Buddha and who worship idols. Tell them they must go to hell if they don't change. Those who build temples and idols will also have to go to hell. Those who give offerings to the monks to earn merit for themselves with go to hell. All those who pray to the monks and call them 'Pra' [respectful title for monks] will go to hell. Those who chant and 'give life' to idols will go to hell. All those who don't believe in Jesus Christ will go to hell." Peter told me to go back to the earth and testify about the things I had seen. He also said, "You must speak in your new name. From now on you are to be called Athet Pyan Shinthaw Paulu ["Paul who Came Back to Life."].
I didn't want to go back. I wanted to go to heaven. Angels opened a book. First they looked for my childhood name (Thitpin) in the book, but they could not find it. They then looked for the name I had been given when he entered the Buddhist monk hood (U Nata Pannita Ashinthuriya) but it wasn't written in the book either. Then Peter said, "Your name is not written here, you must return and testify about Jesus to the Buddhist people."
I walked back along the gold road. Again I heard beautiful singing, the kind of which I have never heard before or since. Peter walked with me until the time I returned to the earth. He showed me a ladder that reached down from the heaven to the sky. The ladder didn't reach to the earth, but stopped in mid-air. On the ladder I saw many angels, some going up to heaven and some going down the ladder. They were very busy. I asked Peter, "Who are they?" Peter answered, "They are messengers of God. They are reporting to heaven the names of all those who believe in Jesus Christ and the names of those who don't believe." Peter then told me it was time to go back.
It is a Ghost!
The next thing I was aware of was the sound of weeping. I heard my own mother cry out, "My son, why did you leave us now?" I also heard many other people weeping. I realized I was lying in a box. I started to move. My mother and father started shouting, "He is alive! He is alive!" Other people who were farther away did not believe my parents. I then placed my hands on the sides of the box and sat upright. Many people were struck with terror. They cried out, "It is a ghost!" and ran away as fast as their legs could carry them.
Those who remained were speechless and trembling. I noticed I was sitting in smelly liquid and body fluids, enough to fill about three and a half cups. This was liquid that had come out of my stomach and my insides while my body was lying in the coffin. This is why people knew I had indeed been dead. Inside the coffin there was a type of plastic sheet fixed to the wood. This sheet is placed there to retain a corpse's liquids, because many dead bodies release much fluid like mine did.
I learned later that I was just moments away from being cremated in the flames. In Myanmar people are placed in a coffin, the lid is then nailed shut, and the whole coffin is burned. When I came back to life my mother and father were being allowed to look at my body for the very last time. Moments later the lid of my coffin would have been nailed shut and I would have been cremated!
I immediately started to explain the things I had seen and heard. People were astonished. I told them about the men I had seen in the lake of fire, and told them that only the Christians know the truth, that our forefathers and us have been deceived for thousands of years! I told them everything we believe is a lie. The people were astonished because they knew what kind of a monk I had been and how zealous I had been for the teachings of Buddha.
In Myanmar when a person dies their name and age is written on the side of the coffin. When a monk dies, the monk's name, age and the number of years he has served as a monk are written on the side of the coffin. I had already been recorded as dead but as you can see, now I am alive!
Epilogue
Since 'Paul who came back to life' experienced the above story he has remained a faithful witness to the Lord Jesus Christ. Burmese pastors have told us that he had led hundreds of other monks to faith in Christ. His testimony is obviously very uncompromising. Because of that, his message has offended many people who cannot accept there is only one Way to Heaven, the Lord Jesus Christ. Despite great opposition, his experiences were so real to him that he has not wavered. After many years in the Buddhist monk hood, as a strict follower of Buddhist teachings, he immediately proclaimed the Gospel of Christ following his resurrection and exhorted other monks to forsake all false gods and follow Jesus Christ with all their hearts. Before the time of his sickness and death he had no exposure to Christianity at all. Everything he learned during those three days in the grave was new to his mind.
In a bid to get his message out to as many people as possible, this modern-day Lazarus began distributing audio and video cassette tapes with his story on them. The police and Buddhist authorities in Myanmar have done their utmost to gather these tapes up and destroy them. The testimony you have just read has been translated form one of those cassette tapes. We are told it is now quite dangerous for citizens of Myanmar to be in possession of these tapes.
His fearless testimony has landed him in prison at least once, where the authorities failed in their bid to silence him. Upon his release he continued to testify of the things he saw and heard. His current whereabouts are uncertain. One Burmese informant told us he is prison and may have been killed, while another informant was told he is now released from prison and is continuing his ministry.

A REMARKABLE TESTIMONY OF A FORMER BUDDHIST MONK IN
MYANMAR (BURMA) WHO CAME BACK TO LIFE A CHANGED MAN!



Introduction
The story that follows is simply a translation of a taped testimony from a man with a life-changing story. It is not an interview or a biography, but simply the words from the man himself. Different people react in different ways when they hear this story. Some are inspired, some skeptical, a few will mock and ridicule, while some others have even been filled with rage and anger, convinced these words are the ravings of a mad man or an elaborate deception. Some Christians have opposed the story simply because the radical and miraculous events described herein do not fit their feeble image of an Almighty God.
We were first made aware of this story from several Burmese church leaders who shared it with us. These leaders had looked into the story and had not found any suggestion of it being a hoax. It was with this in mind that we decided to step out and circulate the story. We do not do so for any monetary gain, or with a motivation of self-promotion. We just want to let the story speak for itself, and invite Christian believers to judge it according to Scripture. If God wants any part of it to be intended for His glory or to encourage His people, then we pray His Spirit will work in the hearts of the readers in those ways.
Some people have told us they think the monk in this story never actually died, but that he just lapsed into unconsciousness, and the things he saw and heard were part of a fever-driven hallucination. Whatever you think, the simple fact remains that the events of this story so radically transformed this man that his life took on a complete 180-degree shift after the events described below. He has fearlessly and boldly told his story at great personal cost, including imprisonment. He has been scorned by his relatives, friends and colleagues, and faced death threats for his unwillingness to compromise his message. What motivated this man to be willing to risk everything? Whether we believe him or not, his story is surely worth listening to and considering. In the cynical West many people demand hard evidence of such things, evidence that would stand up in a court of law. Can we absolutely guarantee, beyond doubt, that all of these things happened? No, we cannot. But we feel it is worth repeating this man's story in his own words so that readers can judge for themselves.
My Early Years
Hello! My name is Athet Pyan Shinthaw Paulu. I am from the country of Myanmar. I would like to share with you my testimony of what happened to me, but first I would like to give some brief background information from my life growing up.
I was born in 1958 in the town of Bogale, on the Irrawaddy Delta area of southern Myanmar [formerly Burma]. My parents, who were devout Buddhists like most people in Myanmar, named me Thitpin [which means 'tree' in English]. Our lives were very simple where I grew up. At the age of 13 I left school and started working on a fishing boat. We caught fish and sometimes also shrimp from the numerous rivers and streams in the Irrawaddy area. At the age of 16 I became the leader of the boat. At this time I lived in Upper Mainmahlagyon Island [Mainmahlagyon means 'Beautiful Woman Island' in English], just north of Bogale where I was born. This place is about 100 miles southwest of Yangon [Rangoon], our nation's capitol city.
One day, when I was 17, we caught a large number of fish in our nets. Because of the many fish, a large crocodile was attracted to us. It followed our boat and tried to attack us. We were terrified so we frantically rowed our boats toward the riverbank as fast as we could. The crocodile followed us and smashed our boat with its tail. Although no one died in this incident, the attack greatly affected my life. I no longer wanted to fish. Our small boat sank because of the crocodile attack. We had to go home to our village that night on a passenger boat.
Not long after, his employers transferred my father to Yangon City [formerly spelt Rangoon]. At the age of 18 I was sent to a Buddhist monastery to be a novice monk. Most parents in Myanmar try to send their son into a Buddhist monastery, at least for a time, as it is considered a great honor to have a son serve in this way. We have been observing this custom for many hundreds of years.
A Zealous Disciple Of Buddha
When I turned 19 years and 3 months old (in 1977), I became a normal monk. The senior monk at my monastery gave me a new Buddhist name, which is the custom in our country. I was now called U Nata Pannita Ashinthuriya. When we become a monk we no longer use the name given to us at birth by our parents. The name of the monastery I lived at is called Mandalay Kyaikasan Kyaing. The senior monk's name was called U Zadila Kyar Ni Kan Sayadaw [U Zadila is his title]. He was the most famous Buddhist monk in all of Myanmar at the time. Everyone knew who he was. He was widely honored by the people and respected as a great teacher. I say he "was" because in 1983 he suddenly died when he was involved in a fatal car accident. His death shocked everyone. At the time I had been a monk for six years.
I tried hard to be the best monk I could and to follow all the precepts of Buddhism. At one stage I moved to a cemetery where I lived and meditated continually. Some monks who really want to know the truths of Buddha do things like I did. Some move deep into the forests where they live a life of self-denial and poverty. I sought to deny my selfish thoughts and desires, to escape from sickness and suffering and to break free from the cycle of this world. At the cemetery I was not afraid of ghosts. I tried to attain such inner peace and self-realization that even when a mosquito landed on my arm I would let it bite me instead of brushing it off!
For years I strived to be the best monk I could and not to harm any living being. I studied the holy Buddhist teachings just like all my forefathers had done before me. My life proceeded as a monk until I got very, very sick. I was in Mandalay at the time and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. The doctors did some tests on me and told me I had both Yellow Fever and malaria at the same time! After about one month in the hospital I was getting worse. The doctors told me there was no chance for me to recover and discharged me to make arrangements to die.
This is a brief description of my past. I would now like to tell you some of the remarkable things that happened to me after this time...
A Vision that Changed My Life Forever
After I was discharged from the hospital I went back to the monastery where other monks cared for me. I grew weaker and weaker and was lapsing into unconsciousness. I learned later that I actually died for three days. My body decayed and stunk of death, and my heart stopped beating. My body was prepared for cremation and was put through traditional Buddhist purification rites.
Although I faded away in my body I remember my mind and spirit were fully alert. I was in a very, very powerful storm. A tremendous wind flattened the whole landscape until there were no trees or anything else standing, just a flat plain. I walked very fast along this plain for some time. There were no other people anywhere, I was all alone. After some time I crossed a river. On the other side of the river I saw a terrible, terrible lake of fire. In Buddhism we do not have a concept of a place like this. At first I was confused and didn't know it was hell until I saw Yama, the king of hell [Yama is the name ascribed to the King of Hell in numerous cultures throughout Asia]. His face looked like the face of a lion, his body was like a lion, but his legs were like a naga [serpent spirit]. He had a number of horns on his head. His face was very fierce, and I was extremely afraid. Trembling, I asked him his name. He replied, "I am the king of hell, the Destroyer."
The terrible, terrible lake of fire
The king of hell told me to look into the lake of fire. I looked and I saw the saffron colored robes that Buddhist monks wear in Myanmar. I looked closer and saw the shaven head of a man. When I looked at the man's face I saw it was U Zadila Kyar Ni Kan Sayadaw [the famous monk who had died in a car accident in 1983]. I asked the king of hell why my former leader was confined to this lake of torment. I said, "Why is he in this lake of fire? He was a very good teacher. He even had a teaching tape called 'Are You a Man or a Dog?' which had helped thousands of people understand that their worth as humans is far greater than the animals." The king of hell replied, "Yes, he was a good teacher but he did not believe in Jesus Christ. That's why he is in hell."
I was told to look at another person who was in the fire. I saw a man with very long hair wrapped on the left hand side of his head. He was also wearing a robe. I asked the king of hell, "Who is this man?" He replied, "This is the one you worship: Gautama [Buddha]." I was very disturbed to see Gautama in hell. I protested, "Gautama had good ethnics and good moral character, why is he suffering in this lake of fire?" The king of hell answered me, "It doesn't matter how good he was. He is in this place because he did not believe in the Eternal God."
I then saw another man who looked like he was wearing a soldier's uniform. He had a large wound on his chest. I asked, "Who is this man?" The king of hell said, "This is Aung San, the revolutionary leader of Myanmar." I was told, "Aung San is here because he persecuted and killed Christians, but mostly because he didn't believe in Jesus Christ." In Myanmar the people have a common saying, "Soldiers never die, they live on." I was told that the legions of hell have a saying "Soldiers never die, but they go to hell forever."
I looked and saw another man in the lake of fire. He was a very tall man and he was dressed in military armor. He was also holding a sword and a shield. This man had a wound on his forehead. This man was taller than any person I have ever seen. He was six times the length between a man's elbow and the tips of his fingers when he stretches his arm out straight, plus one span of a man's fingers when he spreads out his hand. The king of hell said, "This man's name is Goliath. He is in hell because he blasphemed the Eternal God and His servant David." I was confused because I didn't know who either Goliath or David were. The king of hell said, "Goliath is recorded in the Christian Bible. You don't know him now, but when you become a Christian you will know who he is."
I was then taken to a place where I saw both rich and poor people preparing to eat their evening meals. I asked, "Who cooked the food for these people?" The king of hell replied, "The poor have to prepare their own food, but the rich people get others to cook for them." When the food had been prepared for the rich people they sat down to eat. As soon as they started a thick smoke came up. The rich people ate as fast as they could to ease their consciences. They were struggling to breath because of the smoke. They had to eat fast because they were fearful of losing their money. Their money is their god.
Another king of hell then came to me. I also saw a being whose job is to stoke the fires beneath the lake of fire, to keep it hot. This being asked me, "Are you going into the lake of fire too?" I replied, "No! I am only here to observe!" The appearance of this creature stoking the fire was very terrifying. He had ten horns on his head and a spear in his hand that had seven sharp blades coming from the end. The creature told me, "You are right. You came here just to observe. I cannot find your name here." He said, "You must now go back the way you came." He pointed me toward the desolate plain that I had first walked along before I came to the lake of fire.
The Road of Decision
I walked a long time, until I was bleeding. I was hot and in great pain. Finally, after walking for about three hours I came to a wide road. I walked along this road for some time until I came to a fork. One road, going off to the left, was wide. A smaller road went off to the right hand side. There was a signpost at the fork saying that the road to the left was for those who do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. The smaller road to the right was for believers in Jesus.
I was interested to see where the larger road led so I started down it. There were two men walking about 300 yards ahead of me. I tried to catch up with them so I could walk with them but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't catch them up, so I turned around and went back to the fork in the road. I continued to watch these two men as they walked down the road away from me. When they reached the end of the road they were suddenly stabbed. These two men cried out in great pain! I also cried out when I saw what happened to them! I realized the bigger road ended in great danger for those who traveled down it.
Looking into Heaven
I started walking down the believers' road instead. After traveling for about one hour the surface of the road turned to pure gold. It was so pure that when I looked down I could see my own reflection perfectly. I then saw a man standing in front of me. He was wearing a white robe. I also heard beautiful singing. Oh, it was so beautiful and pure! It was much better and more meaningful than the worship we have in churches here on the earth. The man in the white robe asked me to walk with him. I asked him, "What is your name?" but he did not answer. After I asked his name six times the man answered, "I am the one who holds the key to heaven. Heaven is a very, very beautiful place. You cannot go there now but if you follow Jesus Christ you can go there after your life has finished on the earth." The man's name was Peter.
Peter then asked me to sit down and he showed me a place to the north. Peter said, "Look to the north and see God create man." I saw the Eternal God from a distance. God spoke to an angel, "Let us make man." The angel pleaded with God and said, "Please don't make man. He will do wrong and will grieve you." [In Burmese literally: "He will make you lose face."]. But God created a man named anyway. God blew on the man and the man came to life. He gave him the name "Adam". [Note: Buddhists do not believe in the Creation of the world or of man, so this experience had a significant impact on the monk].

I lay there covered in bodily fluids, saliva and sweat from twenty five different men. Disgusted, sore, defiled and void of all emotions, a part of me died that day; my soul was shredded and separated among the twenty five men who I just sold my body for.
My journey into the porn industry was justified by my desperate need to feed my three children. I was a destitute single mother who would have done anything for my children.
My first porn scene was filmed in Las Vegas in 2006 for Clint and his porn company Sensational Video. It was shot in an apartment. There was no fancy set, no personal changing area, no security, just a rundown, run of the mill hole in the wall. I was told it was a “test” shoot and that I was lucky to get paid for it, but that if I went through with it, I would gain fame and fortune. So begrudgingly, I did the scene.
In an hour the abuse was over and I was paid $300. As I was ushered out the door and promised more work, the next victim walked in. As I drove home with a knotted stomach, my only thought was that I had just sold my soul for $300 dollars. I vowed never to do it again and was sure I would never make another movie, but I was wrong.
Eight months later, it was the same situation. I was in need of money even though I was working full time. The demands of being a single mother with no help from my ex husband was too much to handle. A couple of men I knew had seen my first movie and encouraged me to make more. I relived the trauma over in mind and wanted to cry, but I believed desperate times called for desperate measures. I wanted the fast money in hopes to cure my stress about finances; little did I realize my stress had only begun.
I posted a profile on sexyjobs.com and not even five minutes later I received what seemed like a million phone calls from so called producers and agencies, all with promises of grandeur and instant wealth. I got some weird calls too, men asking me if I would beat them up or sleep with underage boys on camera; I immediately hung up on them.
Having received no formal education about the porn industry, I accepted a “gig” from a producer in Compton, California who ran Tiger Media Group. I had never been to Compton and didn’t know what to expect, but I needed the money.
When I got to the hotel I was informed that the producer, who looked shabbier than the room, was also the male performer or “talent” and I was to pleasure not only him, but the female companion he brought with him. I was taken back; I was told it was going to be a boy/girl scene not a boy/girl and then girl/girl scene. It was double the expected scene for the price of one, but what was I going to do? They knew I was a single Mom and needed the money so they took advantage of me.
Before the scene started the producer told me I needed to show him my ID and sign a model release with legal terms I didn’t understand. Since I was new and uneducated about the ways of porn, I naively thought it was for his tax purposes. When I asked him if he was going to wear a condom he shoved an AIM’s test in my face and said we would not be using a condom. He never asked me for an STD test or said that one was required of me.
When the abuse was over, I was sore, tired and disgusted with the others and with myself. The producer paid me half of what he promised to pay me and said the check for the rest would be in the mail. I trusted him because he sounded professional. The check never came.
Within days I began to drink heavily and take pain killers that I had laying around for a previous back injury. I started popping pills, especially when it came time to do a porn movie. The porn industry offered me drugs, too. I was offered marijuana and alcohol from porn producers and other porn stars and I gladly accepted the drugs and alcohol. I didn’t want to feel the pain of penetration from an over-sized penis or from being told to hold poses for still camera shots while being penetrated and choked. Every scene was at least two hours or more because of the need to do freeze frame pics and get good angles and lighting. I was degraded on camera and had to like it or else no pay! I was called names like bitch, LovePeddler, slut and because I was in the BBW (big beautiful women) niche, my weight was consistently used as a form of exploitation and insult. I was actually told not to lose weight or that I would never make it in the biz.
I was also forced into prostitution. Producers lied and sent me to do “privates” for high paying clients that my agent got a nice percentage of. I wasn’t in control of my life anymore and I completely lost my identity as Jan and turned into the demonized character Elizabeth Rollings, the porn star.
I sold my soul to the devil without even knowing it. Ironically, I later performed a brutal Group Intimacy for Devil’s Films.
About six months into the porn lifestyle I was offered my own web site. A husband and wife team by the name of Ditto and Dutch who owned their own pay sites had an idea for a BBW network and wanted me to be their top model. I was promised if I worked tirelessly on my web site that I would gain financial freedom which appealed to me as I did not want to do hardcore scenes anymore. The guy made a contract convinced me that it was all for my benefit and when I suggested a lawyer read it over, Dutch guilt tripped me into signing it because of our so called “friendship” and besides; he promised me he would never keep the site up if we parted ways.
Of course, I fell for it. What drugged up alcoholic and traumatized woman wouldn’t?
It wasn’t long before Dutch started propositioning me for sex aside from the website work we did together and telling me if I didn’t have sex with him it would cost me. He often did this right after a scene, filling his selfish, lustful desires while his wife Ditto was downstairs. He threatened me time after time and said he would financially break me if I didn’t obey. He wasn’t the only producer to force me to do off camera sex acts. Prostitution was a form of manipulation producers use to get off and get more scenes out of the women. But I trusted Dutch. I thought he cared about me. I never thought he would have done this to me.
One particular producer Gabor, owner of Heatwave Video, really loved to use on the side sex as a tool for manipulation, telling me how much he loved me and that I was his number one model and that having sex with him was a sure way to have continued work. Gabor even sponsored a booth for me at LA Erotica in 2007, where I was billed as the first BBW to ever have a booth. He was happy to do it as long as I “gave it up” whenever he demanded. He was nothing more than a glorified love-vendor. I was assured that having a booth would help me gain more exposure and of course more money. I was nothing more than a puppet on a string.
As time went on and my thoughts of hopelessness and desperation grew, my web designer Dutch fed off of it like a plague. I wanted to die. I wanted to sleep and never wake up. Every day was a good day to drink heavily and ultimately I lost my normal job. I hated myself for being a horrible mother and just like in the beginning of my journey into porn; I was desperate only this time for a way out.
The abuse and pain was so bad that I ended up in the emergency room from a nervous breakdown. My world was a blur and I just wanted to end it all. But when I told my web designer that I couldn’t do it anymore, all hell broke loose. His threats worsened and of course he refused to take the web site down. In fact, it is still up and I have NOT received any money from it since mid 2007. I’ve reminded Dutch many times of our verbal agreement, but he just laughs in my face and tells me that he has a couple thousand to burn in a courtroom but I on the under hand am broke.
Facing the idea of committing suicide and feeling like I had no hope and not knowing who I was anymore I got on my knees and cried out to God for help. After a couple hours of tearful praying I went online to look for answers and Googled “porn help” and there she was my own personal guardian angel on earth, Shelley Lubben. I immediately contacted Shelley and told her my story and it didn’t take her long before she was sending me encouraging words from God, numerous gift cards to help feed me and my children and resources in my area to help aide me in my recovery. Not only was Shelley Lubben concerned with the physical and mental well being of me and my family, but she began to mentor me back into the relationship I once knew with Christ Jesus.
As I became close with God again, He began to heal me and one of the ways He did that was using my painful experience to help others. Not long after that day I searched online for help, I was suddenly involved in helping other women who were hurting just like me! Shelley asked me to join her in her outreach to women in porn and in 2008; I went back to the porn industry only this time I was on a powerful mission from God: I was out of the industry and into the ministry!
That year at the AVN Las Vegas porn convention, I found true purpose for my life. I knew what I was called to do: to help champion the cause against porn and rescue other women and men trapped in porn.
But the devil was fuming mad with me and wasn’t going to let me get away that easily.
In April of 2008, I felt very ill and reluctantly went to the E.R. Frightened at what it could possibly be; I was diagnosed with Chlamydia and herpes, a non curable sexually transmitted disease. My whole world came crashing down. I didn’t understand how God could let this happen! I mean, I did the right thing by getting out of the industry and now this? I always thought I was safe by getting tested on a monthly basis for STD’s through AIM(Adult Industry Medicine), but the so called “doctors” at AIM lied to me.
At that moment I had a choice to make. Would I blame God for my STDs and fall back into a pornographic world of lies or would I accept the fact that these are the consequences for being involved with an illegal and diseased industry.
I made the right choice. I didn’t give up. I cried out to the Lord Jesus Christ and He comforted me and strengthened me to continue to recover and do His great work.
Three years later I’m still volunteering with Shelley through the Pink Cross Foundation. I have witnessed God do supernatural miracles among those suffering in porn. I myself have been miraculously healed from herpes. It’s been three years and I have not had an outbreak. Shelley and the team prayed for me and just like Shelley, I am herpes-free through the power of Jesus Christ!
I have hugged and loved thousands of people in over 20 porn outreaches in three years. I have heard the heartbreaking stories of women just like me and even the men, sometimes drunk or high, come to our booth for help. Porn fans and porn stars, no matter, they all are searching for love and education. They want to know how we are recovering so strong. They want to feel like they matter and have purpose in this life. They want to be champions in life and Pink Cross reaches out and teaches them how to do it.
Working with Shelley and the team has been amazing and I am one of the women who hasn’t given up on her. It has been extremely difficult to face my past over and over again and relive those horrible memories in the middle of a porn convention, but how can I not reach out to my sisters and brothers who are suffering like I was?
I have witnessed a lot in this porn fight. People in porn sometimes think Shelley Lubben is a liar and using them for money. Of course, they believe the lies of crooked pornographers. The girls we reach out to are often addicted to drugs and alcohol and mix that in with the fact they do not trust anyone, you can imagine what Shelley and her family go through on a daily basis trying to reach out to these women.
I have seen Shelley suffer and sacrifice in ways unbelievable to help women and men escape porn. She constantly gives of herself without care to what will happen to her and her family because she truly believes God loves these people and will no longer tolerate the inhumane treatment of beautiful human lives that He created for greatness. Shelley always tells the women and men in porn, “You are made for greater things than porn.”
I’m so grateful to God to be alive and even share my testimony with you. I have performed in over 40 porn films including a Bleep scene with 25 men, over 20 pornographic websites including my own and 3 pornographic magazines. I want you to know the truth, the porn companies DO NOT care about human value, they do not care if the men and women who perform in porn, God’s children, live or die. The porn performers are NOTHING but replaceable objects that keep porn companies wealthy while the majority (at least 95%) of porn performers struggle to make ends meet. Porn is NOT glamorous, this is my story, and this is my truth.

The True Account of Prisoner Claude Newman (1944)

The following true story of Claude Newman took place in Mississippi in 1944. The account was told by Father O'Leary, a priest from Mississippi, who was directly involved with the events. He has left for posterity an audio recording it.

Claude Newman was a Negro man who worked the fields for a landowner. He had married when he was 17 years old to a woman of the same age. One day, two years later, he was out ploughing the fields. Another worker ran to tell Claude that his wife was screaming from the house. Immediately Claude ran into his house and found a man attacking his wife. Claude saw red, grabbed an axe and split the man's head open. When they rolled the man over, they discovered that it was the favorite employee of the landowner for whom Claude worked. Claude was arrested. He was later sentenced for murder and condemned to die in the electric chair.

While he was in jail awaiting execution, he shared a cell-block of some sort with four other prisoners. One night, the five men were sitting around talking and they ran out of conversation. Claude noticed a medal on a string around another prisoner's neck. He asked what it was, and the Catholic boy told him that it was a medal. Claude said, "What is a medal?" The Catholic boy could not explain what a medal was or what its purpose was. At that point, and in anger, the Catholic boy snatched the medal from his own neck and threw it on the floor at Claude's feet with a curse and a cuss, telling him to take the thing.

Claude picked up the medal, and with permission from the prison attendants, placed it on a string around his own neck. To him it was simply a trinket, but he wanted to wear it.

During the night, sleeping on top of his cot, he was awakened with a touch on his wrist. And there stood, as Claude told the priest later, the most beautiful woman that God ever created. At first he was very frightened. The Lady calmed down Claude, and then said to him, "If you would like Me to be your Mother, and you would like to be My child, send for a priest of the Catholic Church." With that She disappeared.

Claude immediately became terrified, and started to scream, "a ghost, a ghost", and fled to the cell of one of the other prisoners. He then started screaming that he wanted a Catholic priest.

Father O'Leary , the priest who tells the story, was called first thing the next morning. He arrived and found Claude who told him of what had happened the night before. Then Claude, along with the other four men in his cell-block, asked for religious instruction, for catechism.

Initially, Father O'Leary had difficulty believing the story .The other prisoners told the priest that everything in the story was true; but of course, they neither saw nor heard the vision of the Lady.

Father O'Leary promised to teach them catechism, as they had requested. He went back to his parish, told the rector what had happened, and returned to the prison the next day to give instruction.

It was then that the priest learned that Claude Newman could neither read nor write at all. The only way he could tell if a book was right-side-up was if the book contained a picture. Claude had never been to school. And his ignorance of religion was even more profound. He knew nothing at all about religion. He did not know who Jesus was. He did not know anything except that there was a God.

Claude began receiving instructions, and the other prisoners helped him with his studies. After a few days, two of the religious Sisters from Father O'Leary's parish-school obtained permission from the warden to come to the prison. They wanted to meet Claude, and they also wanted to visit the women in the prison. On another floor of the prison, the Sisters then started to teach some of the women-prisoners catechism as well.

Several weeks passed, and it came time when Father O'Leary was going to give instructions about the Sacrament of Confession. The Sisters too sat in on the class. The priest said to the prisoners, "Okay, boys, today I'm going to teach you about the Sacrament of Confession."

Claude said, "Oh, I know about that!"

"The Lady told me," said Claude, "that when we go to confession we are kneeling down not before a priest, but we're kneeling down by the Cross of Her Son. And that when we are truly sorry for our sins, and we confess our sins, the Blood He shed flows down over us and washes us free from all sins."

Father O'Leary and the Sisters sat stunned with their mouths wide open. Claude thought they were angry and said, "Oh don't be angry, don't be angry, I didn't mean to blurt it out."

The priest said, "We're not angry. We're just amazed. You have seen Her again?"

Claude said, "Come around the cell-block away from the others."

When they were alone, Claude said to the priest, "She told me that if you doubted me or showed hesitancy, I was to remind you that lying in a ditch in Holland, in 1940, you made a vow to Her which She's still waiting for you to keep." And, Father O'Leary recalls, "Claude told me exactly what the vow was."

This convinced Father O'Leary that Claude was telling the truth about his visions of Our Lady.

They then returned to the catechism class on Confession. And Claude kept telling the other prisoners, "You should not be afraid to go to confession. You're really telling God your sins, not this priest, or any priest. We're telling God our sins." Then Claude said, "You know, the Lady said [that Confession is] something like a telephone. We talk through the priest to God and God talks back to us through the priest."

About a week later, Father O'Leary was preparing to teach the class about the Blessed Sacrament. The Sisters were present for this too. Claude indicated that the Lady had also taught him about Holy Communion, and he asked if he could tell the priest what She said. The priest agreed immediately. Claude related, "The Lady told me that in Communion, I will only see what looks like a piece of bread. But She told me that THAT is really and truly Her Son. And that He will be with me just for a few moments as He was with Her before He was born in Bethlehem. And that I should spend my time like She did, in all Her time with Him, in loving Him, adoring Him, thanking Him, praising Him and asking Him for blessings. I shouldn't be bothered by anybody else or anything else. But I should spend those few minutes with Him."

Eventually they finished the instructions, Claude was received into the Catholic Church, and the time came for Claude to be executed. He was to be executed at five minutes after twelve, midnight.

The sheriff asked him, "Claude, you have the privilege of a last request. What do you want?"

"Well," said Claude, "you're all shook up. The jailer is all shook up. But you don't understand. I'm not going to die. Just this body. I'm going to be with Her. So, can I have a party?"

"What do you mean?", asked the sheriff.

"A Party!" said Claude. "Will you give Father permission to bring in some cakes and ice cream and will you allow the prisoners on the second floor to be turned loose in the main room so that we can all be together and have a party?"

"Somebody might attack Father," cautioned the warden.

Claude turned to the men who were standing by and said, "Oh no, they won't. Will you fellas?"

So, the priest visited a wealthy patron of the parish, and she supplied the ice cream and cake. They had their party.

Afterwards, because Claude had requested it, they made a Holy Hour. The priest had brought prayer books from the Church and they all said together the Stations of the Cross, and a had a Holy Hour, without the Blessed Sacrament.

Afterwards, the men were put back in their cells. The priest went to the chapel to get the Blessed Sacrament so that he could give Claude Holy Communion.

Father O'Leary returned to Claude's cell. Claude knelt on one side of the bars, the priest knelt on the other, and they prayer together as the clock ticked toward Claude's execution.

Fifteen minutes before the execution, the sheriff came running up the stairs shouting, "Reprieve, Reprieve, the Governor has given a two-week reprieve!" Claude had not been aware that the sheriff and the District Attorney were trying to get a stay of execution for Claude to save his life. When Claude found out, he started to cry. The priest and the sheriff thought it was a reaction of joy because he was not going to be executed. But Claude said, "Oh you men don't know. And Father, you don't know. If you ever looked into Her face, and looked into Her eyes, you wouldn't want to live another day."

Claude then said, "What have I done wrong these past weeks that God would refuse me my going home?" And the priest said that Claude sobbed as one who was broken hearted.

The sheriff left the room. The priest remained and gave Claude Holy Communion. Claude eventually quieted down. Then Claude said, "Why? Why must I still remain here for two weeks?"

The priest had a sudden idea.

He reminded Claude about a prisoner in the jail who hated Claude intensely. This prisoner had led a horribly immoral life, and he too was sent to be executed.

The priest said, "Maybe Our Blessed Mother wants you to offer this denial of being with Her for his conversion." The priest continued, "Why don't you offer to God every moment you are separated from Her for this prisoner so that he will not be separated from God for all eternity."

Claude agreed, and asked the priest to teach him the words to make the offering. The priest complied. At the time, the only two people who knew about this offering were Claude and Father O'Leary.

The next day, Claude said to the priest, "That prisoner hated me before, but Oh! Father, how he hates me now!" The priest said, "Well, that's a good sign."

Two weeks later, Claude was executed.

Father O'Leary remarked, "I've never seen anyone go to his death as joyfully and happily. Even the official witnesses and the newspaper reporters were amazed. They said they couldn't understand how anyone could go and sit in the electric chair actually beaming with happiness."

His last words to Father O'Leary were, "Father, I will remember you. And whenever you have a request, ask me, and I will ask Her."

Two months later, the white man, who had hated Claude, was to be executed. Father O'Leary said, "This man was the filthiest, most immoral person I had ever come across." His hatred for God, for everything spiritual," said the priest, "defied description."

Just before his execution, the county doctor pleaded with this man to at least kneel down and say the Our Father before the sheriff would come for him.

The prisoner spat in the doctor's face.

When he was strapped into the electric chair, the sheriff said to him, "If you have something to say, say it now."

The condemned man started to blaspheme.

All of a sudden the condemned man stopped, and his eyes became fixed on the corner of the room, and his face turned to one of absolute horror.

He screamed.

Turning to the sheriff, he then said, "Sheriff, get me a priest!"

Now, Father O'Leary had been in the room because the law required a clergyman to be present at executions. The priest, however, had hidden himself behind some reporters because the condemned man had threatened to curse God if he saw a clergyman at all.

Father O'Leary immediately went to the condemned man. The room was cleared of everyone else, and the priest heard the man's confession. The man said he had been a Catholic, but turned away from his religion when he was 18 because of his immoral life.

When everyone returned to the room, the sheriff asked the priest, "What made him change his mind?"

"I don't know " said Father O'Leary, "I didn't ask him."

The sheriff said, "Well, I'll never sleep if I don't."

The Sheriff turned to the condemned man and asked, "Son, what changed your mind?"

The prisoner responded, "Remember that black man ¬ Claude - who I hated so much? Well he's standing there [he pointed], over in that corner. And behind him with one hand on each shoulder is the Blessed Mother. And Claude said to me, 'I offered my death in union with Christ on the Cross for your salvation. She has obtained for you this gift, to see your place in Hell if you do not repent.' I was shown my place in Hell, and that's when I screamed."

This, then, is the power of Our Lady.

We see many parallels between these facts of Claude Newman story and the Message of Fatima in 1917. There is the emphasis on:

• Sacramental Confession,
• Holy Communion,
• Making sacrifices for Sinners,
• the vision of Hell.

"Many souls go to Hell" said Our Lady of Fatima, "because they have no one to pray and make sacrifices for them."

While on death row, received a Miraculous Medal from another prisoner which he placed around his neck, That evening he had a vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He converted to the Catholic Faith. Several months after his execution, in May 1944, while another prisoner (James Hughes) who hated Claude was seated in the electric chair, James had a vision of Claude with the Blessed Mother standing behind him with Her hands on his shoulders.

Saint Faustina Kowalska — Divine Mercy
Saint Faustina Kowalska (1905-1938), of Cracow, Poland, experienced on a personal
basis a “judgment” where she was allowed to see her sins as God sees them. She wrote
about this spiritual experience: “Once I was summoned to the judgment [seat] of
God. I stood alone before the Lord. Jesus appeared such as we know Him during
His Passion. After a moment, His wounds disappeared except for five, those in His
hands, His feet and His side. Suddenly I saw the complete condition of my soul as
God sees it. I could clearly see all that is displeasing to God. I did not know that even
the smallest transgressions will have to be accounted for. What a moment! Who can
describe it? To stand before the Thrice Holy God!” “Jesus asked me, ‘Who are you?’ I
answered, ‘I am Your servant, Lord.’ ‘You are guilty of one day of fire in purgatory.’ I
wanted to throw myself immediately into the flames of Purgatory, but Jesus stopped
me and said, ‘Which do you prefer, suffer now for one day in Purgatory or for a short
while on earth?’ I replied, ‘Jesus, I want to suffer in Purgatory, and I want to suffer
also the greatest pains on earth, even if it were until the end of the world.’
Jesus said: ‘One (of the two) is enough; you will go back to earth, and there you
will suffer much, but not for long; you will accomplish My will and My desires, and
a faithful servant of Mine will help you to do this. Now, rest your head on My bosom,
on My heart, and draw from it strength and power for these sufferings, because
you will find neither relief nor help nor comfort anywhere else. Know that you will
have much, much to suffer, but don’t let this frighten you; I am with you.’”3
Her life and writings were silenced by the Church for over twenty years. The diary
of Saint Faustina, called Divine Mercy in My Soul, is considered a spiritual classic
today. Pope John Paul II initiated the reinvestigation of her life and writings while
he was Archbishop of Cracow. She was canonized as the first saint of the new millennium
on April 30, 2000 by Pope John Paul II, on the Feast of Divine Mercy before a
crowd of 200,000 people in Saint Peter’s Square.
Jesus spoke to Saint Faustina of a cross in the sky in the last days in great detail:
“Before I come as the just judge, I am coming first as the King of Mercy. Before the day of
justice arrives, there will be given to people a sign in the heavens of this sort: All light in
the heavens will be extinguished, and there will be great darkness over the whole earth.
Then the sign of the cross will be seen in the sky, and from the openings where the hands
and the feet of the Savior were nailed will come forth great lights which will light up the
earth for a period of time. This will take place shortly before the last day.”4

the people of God have ignored His warnings. The world does not understand the
darkness that surrounds them.
Many people continue to live in sin, and forget that the day is coming when
they will be allowed to see the state of their souls. What a terrible time this will be for
many, many souls. Many will die, for they will not be able to withstand knowing the
truth about the condition of their souls.
Janie: St. Joseph, could you explain why many people will die when they see
their souls? I don’t understand this, please help me to understand.
St. Joseph: My little one, the soul is where all truth lies and no one can see or
know your soul except the Eternal One. He alone knows all souls, and He alone will
judge all souls. No one knows the truth except the Holy Trinity. If people knew the
truth, they would choose not to sin, for the truth would enlighten their hearts to
know how much sin separates them from the truth. The Truth is the Eternal Father.
You cannot live in sin and say you know the truth, for you cannot have two masters.
You must choose to live in darkness or to live in the light. For those who believe
that they live in the light but continue to break every Commandment given by God,
to these souls, I, St. Joseph, say that these souls will not be able to see the state of
their souls and live.
Janie: This is hard for me to know. Are you saying that people who do not live
God’s Commandments will die when they see their souls?
St. Joseph: Yes, my little one, that’s how it will be for many unless they repent
and decide for conversion. There is still time for repentance, but time is growing
shorter with each day that goes by.5

Janie: “Beloved St. Joseph, what should we do to prepare for this?”
St. Joseph: Pray, my little one, pray. Remain faithful to all that the Holy Spirit
directs you to do. Act in everything that Most Holy Mary is calling you to. Be a
strong messenger of living her messages of peace, prayer, Holy Mass, fasting, conversion
and reading Holy Scripture. Do this as a family. Do not reject God’s Most Holy
Name, so that He will not reject you. Decide to be a holy family, to pray together, to
love, and to forgive one another. This is a time of decision for all of God’s children.
Live as God’s people, leading good, simple and just lives. Open your hearts to
God’s love and mercy. Every family must consecrate themselves to the Sacred Heart
of Jesus, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and to my intercession and protection,
that we may lead you closer to God. We will prepare you for the things to come. Live
as children of the Lord, and you will live through all these troubled times.”

The World Wide Warning: Seeing the State of Your Soul

Amen, I say to you, unless you become like a little child, you will not enter the
kingdom of Heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in
the kingdom of Heaven.
—Matthew 18:3-4

Justice demands that God should make a public and solemn defense of His calumniated
and persecuted friends and servants, and that the malice and hypocrisy of
the wicked should be publicly unmasked and exposed to universal and eternal truth.
Then shall the just stand with great constancy against those that have afflicted them,
and taken away their labors. The wicked, seeing it, shall be troubled with terrible
fear, and shall be amazed at the suddenness of the unexpected salvation of the just
(Wisd. 5:1). Lastly, all angels, good and bad, all men, just and sinners, elect and reprobate
shall be summoned to the presence of the Judge before whose Divine Majesty
every knee shall bow in profound adoration. We must all be manifested before the
judgment seat of Christ, that every one may receive the proper things of the body according
as he has done, whether it be good or evil (2 Cor. 5:10).1

The World-Warning
The Lord in His infinite love and mercy for humanity continues to provide every
opportunity for His people to make amends. Much evidence, from many sources in
the Church today, indicates that the day of reckoning is soon to come upon us. As
prophets like Amos, Jeremiah, Jonah, and Isaiah warned their people of impending
judgments, we too are being warned by the prophets in our midst that earth-shaking
events are soon to happen. The warning will be an event on a scale unprecedented in
Church history. There is no precedent in Scripture or Tradition.
The warning is an event that will allow every man, woman, and child to see the
state of their own soul through the illumination of conscience, or as God sees them
in the fire of Divine Truth. The fire of divine truth will enable all of God’s people to
“see” their lives in the form of a miniature judgment. This will be one of several final
acts of mercy coming from Heaven to allow us to change the direction and focus of
our lives.
If one is not moved by these thoughts and what it would mean to the world,
there is either an insensitivity of spirit or a general unawareness of the profound
meaning of this event and its impact on the world.
In the early 1960’s the warning was predicted by the Mother of God, who communicated
her message through four young girls from the mountain village of Garabandal,
in northern Spain. She first appeared to them on July 16, 1961, the Feast of
Our Lady of Mount Carmel. She told them of the warning, a “correction of the conscience
of the world,” which all would experience. She also spoke to them of a great
miracle to be worked by the Lord at Garabandal so that all might come to believe.
The warning was predicted by Our Lady of Mount Carmel at Garabandal,
where she prophesied through four young girls three great events to come: the warning,
the miracle, and the punishment. Mari-Loli who died on April 23, 2009 at the
age of 60, knew the date of the warning, and Conchita knows the date of the miracle.
The miracle will occur within a year of the warning.

The Warning - Conchita
Conchita told us that the Warning will be like two heavenly bodies or stars colliding
that make a lot of noise and a lot of light, but they don’t fall. We are going to see it.
It will horrify us because at that very moment we will see our souls and the harm we
have done. In that moment we are going to see our conscience, everything wrong
that we are doing, and the good that we are not doing. It will be as though we are in
agony, but we will not die by its effects, but perhaps we will die of fright or shock to
see ourselves. The Warning is like a purification for the Miracle. Conchita said that
it is sort of a catastrophe. It will make us think of the dead, that is, we would prefer
to be dead than to experience the Warning. Conchita revealed to us that it would be
very fearful, a thousand times worse than earthquakes. It will be like fire. It will not
burn our flesh, but we will feel it bodily and interiorly. It is a thing from Heaven.
People in every part of the world will suffer from it. None of us will escape this: the
good, so that they may draw nearer to God; the evil, so that they may amend their
lives. Conchita said that if she did not know what the Chastisement was, she would
say that the Warning was worse than the Chastisement.
During an interview Conchita said the duration of the Warning is about five
minutes. In an interview in October 1968, in answer to a question about the Warning,
Conchita said: “The Warning is something supernatural and will not be explained
by science. It will be seen and felt.” According to Conchita: “The Warning
will be a purification, a preparation for the Miracle, and everyone will see it. It will
make people aware of the evil that they do with their sins.”

The Warning - Mary Loli
Mary Loli said: “When the Warning occurs everything will stand still, even planes in
the sky, but just for a few moments. At the moment everything stops, the Warning
will occur. The Warning will last just a few minutes. It is important we prepare ourselves
because it is a terrible thing. It will make us feel all the wrong we have done.
Everyone will experience it wherever they may be, regardless of their condition or
their knowledge of God. It will be an interior personal experience. It will look as if
the world has come to a standstill, however, no one will be aware of that as they will
be totally absorbed in their own experience. It is going to be something like an interior
feeling of sorrow and pain for having offended God. God will help us see clearly
the harm we are causing Him and all the evil things we do.”

The Warning, Jacinta of Garabandal
Jacinta stated: “The Warning is something that is first seen in the air everywhere in
the world and immediately is transmitted into the interior of our souls. It will last for
a very little time, but will seem a very long time because of its effect within us. It will
be for the good of our souls, in order to see in ourselves our conscience, the good and
the bad we’ve done. Then we will feel a great love toward our heavenly parents and
ask forgiveness for all our offenses. The Warning is for everybody because God wants
our salvation. The Warning is in order for us to draw closer to Him and increase our
faith…”
The warning will be like the conversion of Saint Paul the Apostle (Saul), who
was penetrated by the same light we will soon endure. He was on the Damascus road,
journeying to persecute the newly-converted Christians. Saul’s self righteousness and
bigotry was so strong, it took the Lord Himself to knock Saul off his horse. In a
glorious vision it was revealed to him that he was assailing not only the members of
the Church, but Jesus Himself. The blinding light of the Risen Christ convicted him
of sin. Paul heeded the warning Jesus had given him; he repented and became the
Lord’s faithful follower. Saul, one day a killer, stoning the first Christian martyr, Saint
Stephen, became the great Paul, a saint, after the “illumination of soul.” The same
grace granted to Saul will penetrate every human heart in a single, sudden burst of
divine light. Each of us must embrace our own road to Damascus. In addition, Saint
Paul became the first “visionary” in the New Testament as his teaching came from an
infused knowledge as he never walked with Jesus.
The warning will make us aware of God. Everyone, unbelievers as well as believers,
will declare that God has touched us with His immeasurable power. He will
intervene in an unprecedented manner to make all people aware of His existence,
His mercy, His sovereign rulership, His love for us and His concern for our salvation.
There is a God, and He is good. The warning will make God evident beyond all
speculation and doubt.

Our Sins Revealed
The warning will show us our sins much in the same way Dorian Gray saw the state
of his life, except it will not be on a canvas, but in our souls. It will be a “correction of
the conscience of the world.” The Scriptures foretold long ago that Jesus would send
the Holy Spirit to “convict the world of sin.” If we did not fully understand before
what that meant, we will by the power of the warning.
Sin—our resistance to becoming the loving kind of person God is – results in
many unloving deeds, decisions, and attitudes. These will all be vividly clear in the
brilliant light which God shines in our souls. Our consciences will be thoroughly
illuminated at that moment, exposing all the self-deception we indulge in so often,
pulling out the dead memories that have never been leavened with love, uncovering
the lies we told ourselves and the compromises we made.
We will see so blatantly the many harsh, stubborn, and unkind decisions we
have made, the times we cruelly trod on the feelings of other people, coveted their
possessions, envied their good fortune, rejoiced at their failures, aborted, jealousies,
and all sins of omission and commission. Then we will groan with anguish when
God reveals to us the neglect, the refusal to help, the undone deeds and the unfulfilled
plans. We will hear Him say to us, “Why have you persecuted Me?”
It will no longer be possible, because of the warning, to hide from ourselves. All
we ever did will be before our eyes, seen all at once, in a single glance. We will know
then how God’s gaze crosses all barriers and grasps the uttermost secrets. We will see
the true internationalism of Heaven with no barriers of color, race, or creed. He will
share with us, for our conversion, how He sees us, and in a mercifully brief instant,
whatever in us was displeasing to Him. We will understand our eternal state and
the lightness or blackness of our soul. We will suffer for a moment the pain of our
sin, the pain of separation from God, the pain of purgatory or hell. We will see it all
whether we wish to or not.
The warning is mercy from God. By the warning, we will become aware that we
are not yet what He wants us to be. His will is for us to become like Himself and to
become close to Him. Sin is the only impediment to that. It prevents us from achieving
perfect, eternal happiness. Our sinfulness will be unveiled in the warning, not out
of revenge, for vengefulness is foreign to His heart, but rather out of love and mercy.
Since the first edition of this book, numerous people who have experienced
the warning have called the author regarding their own personal experience of the
Warning. Priests, seminarians, and lay people have all experienced the same thing.
All speak of seeing their lives like a motion picture. Everything that has happened
in a person’s life is seen, and the person knows there is no excuse or rebuttal for sins
before Almighty God – the light of Divine Truth. In what seems to be a great deal
of time, but actually not, some have fallen to the floor and wept for hours as they
have seen sins in their life. In every instance observed, it has been the single biggest
life changing event that they have experienced. With no exceptions, everyone speaks
of this “illumination of conscience” the same way, as the defining moment of their
lives. All speak of unconditional love and purity in their midst, which gives them
virtually no way to refute their sins. All know they are in the presence of God and
His judgment.

Garabandal Is Key
The warning is a sign for the future and will be a major turning-point in world
history. The parting of the Red Sea and manna from Heaven were powerful divine
interventions for small numbers of people. The world-wide warning and the miracle
will be much greater interventions, for they will affect every man, woman, and child
on earth.
The warning will prepare all of the world’s people for the message of the Gospel,
prepare them all for Jesus and His life. By the warning we will all know our sinfulness.
We will know we need a Savior. Without knowing our own sins, we would
never understand how much we need Jesus and His forgiveness.
The warning is a direct intervention from God. This “sign” shows again the
depth of His love for us. Never before has God acted directly and universally to
make every person in the world completely aware of his or her sinfulness before His
holiness. Never before in history has He acted with such power, such precision, such
immediacy.
The warning will be the first dramatic sign to all that the old age is ending. It is
not God’s wish that we be among those who refuse to repent in time. Not in all the
ages is it ever His wish that even a single one of His little ones be lost.
We have made the choices, and in the past we have not chosen the way of the
Cross. For this reason He has intervened, so that the danger would be manifest, the
evil of the present age unmasked, and the darkness of false “enlightenment” exposed.
If the world has not wanted to listen to the truth, and the Father’s little ones are being
misled, He, in His sovereign majesty and power, will compel us to listen. With
the Warning, He will sweep away all the sophistry and deception with which Satan
has obscured the light of the Gospel.

The Warning as Preparation
The warning calls us to prepare for the miracle. A great miracle has been foretold by
Our Lady of Mount Carmel, which will take place in the little village of Garabandal.
The wisdom of Heaven is perfect: we are unable to grasp its complexities with our
finite minds and we must rely on a wisdom greater than our own. The warning is a
preparation for the future: and within one year from the warning the greatest miracle
the Lord has ever worked for the world will take place at Garabandal.
Another sign for all time is the miracle, another act of mercy. A similar miracle,
also predicted in advance, was granted at Fatima in 1917, in what has come to be
known as “The Miracle of the Sun.” The sun spun in the sky and hurtled toward
earth. Some 70,000 spectators witnessed it. Marvelous as that may sound, it is even
more amazing that the miracle will be experienced by so many people. Millions will
undoubtedly journey there to behold its glory, to be healed, converted, and comforted.
They will travel there because they have been prepared to accept the miracle with
faith. The warning will send multitudes to that remote Spanish mountain village. It
will alert the entire populace of the earth to the impending event of the miracle and
open hearts to the message and the action of God that will be revealed there.
The news about Fatima took many decades to spread throughout the world.
When the great miracle bursts forth at Garabandal, television, radio, newspapers and
the countless witnesses viewing the miracle will spread the story speedily to the farthest
corners of the planet in a matter of minutes due to the internet and global
communications. The warning will prepare us to hear God together at Garabandal,
where His people will be gathered once again, just as they were on Sinai, where the
protective covering of the Shekinah Glory — the cloud or pillar of smoke by day and
a fire by night — offered a protective shield and guidance for the people of God. The
place of the miracle will become a destination place.
The warning and the miracle are inseparable. They are two aspects of the same
intervention of the Lord. Neither can be understood properly without knowing the
other. The warning prepares us for the miracle, and it will offer further proof of the
truth of all that was spoken by the visionaries throughout the world.

Blessed Anna Maria Taigi
Blessed Anna Maria Taigi and others spoke of a great chastisement which would
come to the world, preceded by an illumination of conscience in which everyone
would see themselves as God sees them. She indicated that this illumination of conscience
would result in the saving of many souls because many would repent as a
result of this “warning,” this miracle of “self illumination.”
Beatified in 1920, and a model for women and mothers, Anna Maria Taigi was
not only a prophetess of our time, but one of the most extraordinary mystics in the
history of the Church. From the time she was twenty years old until she died at the
age of sixty-three, she was accompanied by a mysterious light in which she saw past,
present, and future events, some relating to struggles among nations, some relating to
individual souls. Her body is incorrupt.
Blessed Anna Maria gazed into that light only when she felt an interior impulse,
a sort of direction from Our Lord and the Holy Spirit. When she looked into the
light she was asked to offer some special suffering for a special need of the Church or
an individual.
In that light, Anna Maria saw a great chastisement coming upon the world in the
future, but at the same time a great blessing. She spoke about the illumination of the
consciences of men, just as though suddenly every man was given the same kind of
light that accompanied her, in which they would see themselves as God sees them.2
Blessed Anna Maria Taigi’s body in Rome is incorrupt (has not decayed).

The GAY AGENDA...

The Goal

As with every major political movement, the homosexual lobby is pushing a specific agenda. It is often called the "gay agenda." At its core is a concerted effort to remove from society all traditional notions of sexual morality and replace them with the post-modern concept of sexual relativism. That is to say, when it comes to sex, there is never right or wrong. All sexual appetites are "equal." If it feels good, do it.

Ultimately, the homosexual lobby's primary objective is to radically redefine our foundational institutions of legitimate marriage and the nuclear family by unraveling God's natural design for human sexuality. In so doing, they hope to elevate their own spiritual and biological counterfeit and establish a sexually androgynous society wherein natural distinctions between male and female are dissolved.

This creates cultural and moral anarchy.
Plan of Attack

Ironically, sexual relativists are anything but relative. They are quite affirmative in principle. But the principles they foist demand comprehensive acceptance of homosexual conduct — by force of law — through federal edicts such as "hate crimes" legislation, the so-called "Employment Non-Discrimination Act" (ENDA) and by imposing government sanctioned "same-sex marriage." All such government mandates grant special protected "minority" status to those who define themselves by aberrant sexual preferences and changeable sexual behaviors. These laws put people with traditional values directly in the crosshairs of official government policy.

Throughout society, homosexual activists demand that homosexual behaviors not only be "tolerated," but celebrated. (That's what the euphemistic slogan "celebrate diversity" supposes). They have masked their true political agenda by hijacking the language of the genuine civil rights movement and through the crafty and disingenuous rhetoric of "tolerance" and "diversity."

Anyone who believes the Biblical directive that human sexuality is a gift from God, to be shared between man and wife within the bonds of marriage, is branded "homophobic," "hateful" or "discriminatory." They are to be silenced by all means possible.

In Their Own Words

What you are about to read is just a quick, though disturbing, glance behind the homosexual lobby's lavender curtain.

Below are two of the central demands put forth by homosexual activists in their "1972 Gay Rights Platform":

•"Repeal all laws governing the age of sexual consent." (This should send a chill down the spine of any parent. It would legally allow pedophiles, and homosexuals who were so inclined, to access your children and teens for their own predatory sexual gratification — so long as those children "consented" to having sex.)


•"Repeal all legislative provisions that restrict the sex or number of persons entering into a marriage unit." (Once marriage is redefined, there can be no logical or ethical objection to any conceivable "marriage" combination, including polygamous "marriages." By watering down marriage, "gay" activists and like-minded politicos [usually activist judges] remove this foundational institution's intrinsic value.)


Here are just a few of the demands the homosexual lobby put forth during the 1987 (Homosexual) "March on Washington":

•"The government should provide protection from discrimination based on sexual orientation in employment, public accommodations and education just as protection is provided on race, creed, color, sex, or national origin." ([ENDA] This would force all religious business owners, landlords and schools to abandon — under penalty of law — sincerely held and constitutionally protected religious beliefs and adopt a view of sexual morality that runs entirely counter to central teachings of every major world religion.)


•"Anti-homophobic curriculum in the schools." (Translation: pro-homosexual, government-mandated indoctrination. This is already occurring in thousands of public schools throughout America. Children are being force-fed the absurd notion that male-male anal sodomy is a perfectly acceptable, "alternative" sexual "orientation." This calculated propaganda continues to expand, despite the fact that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has acknowledged that such behaviors place participants at extremely high risk for dangerous and often deadly infectious disease.)


•"The government should ensure all public education programs include programs designed to combat lesbian/gay prejudice. ... Institutions that discriminate against lesbian and gay people should be denied tax-exempt status and federal funding." (This means churches, religious schools and religious businesses. Some jurisdictions, such as the state of New Jersey, have already begun removing tax-exempt status from church related ministries that refuse to provide "commitment ceremonies" to homosexuals.)


•"Public and private institutions should support parenting by lesbian or gay couples." (This is now being mandated in many states such as California and Massachusetts. In Massachusetts, Catholic Charities' adoption service was recently forced to close down because it refused to assign children to homosexuals for adoption.)


The push for federal "hate crimes" legislation is another activist tool intended to silence traditional views on human sexuality and sexual morality. Similar laws have already been used around the world, and even right here at home, to persecute Christians and other traditionalists. For example, in 2004, 11 Christians were arrested in Philadelphia and charged with a "hate crime" for merely preaching the Bible at a public homosexual street festival. They could have served up to 47 years in prison.

More recently, a Christian photographer was dragged before the New Mexico Human Rights Division for refusing to photograph a "commitment ceremony" for a lesbian couple because lesbian behavior is inconsistent with Christianity.

Such stark examples of homofascist persecution continue to mount. And they're by design. Noted homosexual activist and pornographer Clinton Fein addressed the "gay" agenda in a 2005 article candidly titled, "The Gay Agenda":

•On "hate crimes" laws: "Hate Crime laws are just the beginning. Once those are passed either federally or in all 50 states, begin campaign to eliminate homophobia entirely."


•On "hate thoughts" and "hate speech" laws: "Homophobic inclinations alone, even without any actions, should be criminal and punishable to the full extent of the law."


•On influencing public policy: "Make sure that gay representation permeates every level of governance."


•On "same-sex marriage": "Demand the institution and then wreck it. James Dobson was right about our evil intentions. We just plan to be quicker than he thought."


•On "gays" in the Church: "Reclaim Jesus. He was a Jewish queer to begin with, and don't let anyone forget it."


The homosexual lobby's goals have been clearly defined for decades. But for any goal to be successfully achieved, clever stratagem and sound methodology must be diligently applied.

In their manuscript, After the Ball: How America Will Conquer Its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 90's (1989, Doubleday/Bantam), Harvard educated marketing experts Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen meticulously laid out the homosexual lobby's blueprint for success in what is widely regarded as the handbook for the "gay" agenda.

They devised a three-pronged approach that the homosexual lobby has masterfully implemented in subsequent years: Desensitization, Jamming and Conversion.

Kirk and Madsen summarized their approach this way:

•Portray gays as victims, not as aggressive challengers.


•Give potential protectors a just cause.


•Make gays look good.


•Make victimizers look bad.


Desensitization

"Desensitization," wrote Kirk and Madsen, means subjecting the public to a "continuous flood of gay-related advertising, presented in the least offensive fashion possible. If 'straights' can't shut off the shower, they may at least eventually get used to being wet."

As previously stated, glamorizing and normalizing homosexual conduct in our public schools is a full time endeavor. But the schools represent only one field of battle in the war over America's body, mind and soul.

With the aid of a willing mainstream media and a like-minded Hollywood, societal desensitization has been largely achieved. Blockbusters like Tom Hanks' Philadelphia, the late Heath Ledger's Brokeback Mountain, and television programs like Will and Grace and Ellen represent a modern-day fairy tale, creating a dishonest and sympathetic portrayal of a lifestyle which is emotionally, spiritually and physically sterile.

Reality is replaced with fantasy. Gone are references to, or images of, the millions of homosexual men wasting away in hospice due to behaviorally related diseases such as HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis and Syphilis. (Unnatural behaviors beget natural consequences. As Romans 6:23 says, "The wages of sin is death."

And gone are references to, or images of, men and women trapped in the homosexual lifestyle who aimlessly seek to fill a spiritual and emotional void through promiscuous and meaningless sexual encounters.

The homosexual group, GLAAD, even offers awards to the television networks that most effectively carry the homosexual lobby's water. The more distorted and positive the portrayal of homosexual conduct and the more frequently the networks shows such portrayals; the more likely networks are to win the coveted awards.

As Kirk and Madsen put it, homosexuals should be portrayed as the "Everyman." "In no time," they said, "a skillful and clever media campaign could have the gay community looking like the veritable fairy godmother to Western Civilization."

Prophetic words from two very smart men.

Jamming

"Jamming" refers to the public smearing of Christians, traditionalists or anyone else who opposes the "gay" agenda. "Jam homo-hatred (i.e., disagreement with homosexual behaviors) by linking it to Nazi horror," wrote Kirk and Madsen. "Associate all who oppose homosexuality with images of 'Klansmen demanding that gays be slaughtered,' 'hysterical backwoods preachers,' 'menacing punks,' and a 'tour of Nazi concentration camps where homosexuals were tortured and gassed.'

"In any campaign to win over the public, gays must be portrayed as victims in need of protection so that straights will be inclined by reflex to adopt the role of protector ... The purpose of victim imagery is to make straights feel very uncomfortable," they suggested.

But, perhaps Kirk and Madsen's most revealing admission came when they said, "[O]ur effect is achieved without reference to facts, logic, or proof."

And so words like "homophobe" and "heterosexism" were pulled from thin air, not because they had substance, but because they were effective jamming tools. Anyone who holds traditional values relative to human sexuality suddenly became a "homophobe," a "hatemonger," a "bigot."

Not even churches are safe.

"Gays can undermine the moral authority of homo-hating churches over less fervent adherents by portraying [them] as antiquated backwaters, badly out of step ... with the latest findings of psychology. Against the atavistic tug of 'Old Time Religion' one must set the mightier pull of science and public opinion. ... Such an 'unholy' alliance has already worked well in America against the churches, on such topics as divorce and abortion. ... [T]hat alliance can work for gays."

And, oh, how it has.

Conversion

"Conversion" means, in the words of Kirk and Madsen, "conversion of the average American's emotions, mind, and will, through a planned psychological attack, in the form of propaganda fed to the nation via the media."

"In the early stages of any campaign to reach straight America, the masses should not be shocked and repelled by premature exposure to homosexual behavior itself. Instead, the imagery of sex should be downplayed and gay rights should be reduced to an abstract social question as much as possible. First let the camel get his nose inside the tent — and only later his unsightly derriere!"

So, as Kirk and Madsen both astutely understood and surprisingly admitted, homosexual activism is really a big game of "hide the ball." In order to achieve widespread acceptance of "gayness," they had to remove the focus from what homosexuality really is (deviant sexual conduct) and shift it onto the craftily manufactured specter of "gay civil rights."

In order to cut through much of the propagandist sugarcoating, one need only consider what two men must actually do in order to "consummate" a so-called "gay marriage." Kirk and Madsen understood that. Most people are repulsed by the mechanics of homosexual conduct, but everyone is for "civil rights." Of course, in reality, the homosexual lifestyle has nothing to do with civil rights and everything to do with conduct.

Therein lies the deception.

But There's Hope

There's hope for people who are trapped in the homosexual lifestyle or who suffer from unwanted same-sex attraction. Part of our fallen condition as humans is that we are all subject to sin. Those who know the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ, are no better or worse than those who engage in homosexual sin.

But through the loving and redemptive power of Jesus Christ, we can all find salvation from sin. So can homosexuals. "Gayness" is not an "immutable" or unchangeable condition as homosexual apologists would have you believe. People can find freedom from homosexual behaviors and even from same-sex attractions. It's not easy, but untold thousands of former homosexuals have done it.

There's also hope in the ongoing battle between the "gay" agenda and our national moral integrity. Concerned Women for America (CWA) endeavors on a daily basis to counter this destructive movement throughout all facets of culture and public policy.

With God's help, we can turn back the tide of sexual and moral relativism that has both permeated our society and offended our founding principles.

A conversation with my gay friend

The other day we got together with a friend of mine from high school named Andrew*, and his boyfriend, Tom. They moved out of state earlier this year, but a business trip brought him and Tom back through town recently, and we jumped at the chance to go out to dinner with them. This was one of the first times in a long while that we’d had a chance to sit down and talk with them, just the four of us. We caught up on life and work, Andrew and I clicking as well as we always have. I wore waterproof mascara because I knew I’d end up laughing to the point of tears, which, in fact, I did.
Then, when my husband and Tom went to pick up a round of drinks at the bar, Andrew had a question for me.
“So,” he said, grabbing a tortilla chip from the basket in front of us. “What do you think of gay marriage?”
The last time we hung out, this unspoken topic was not as palpably present as it was now. Even though our gay friends knew that we’d converted to Catholicism, nobody cared enough to bring up potentially controversial issues. But now, the mood in the world around us had changed. Throughout our country the issue of same-sex unions was being debated furiously; it had become a defining issue of our generation, and thus the average person was no longer allowed not to have an opinion about it. It was too weird to sit at the table, two orthodox Catholics and two men in a gay relationship, and not bring it up. We could no longer ignore the storm that raged outside the cloister of our friendship; the doors had blown open, and the rain had come inside.
I shrugged, trying to keep it casual. “I don’t think that same-sex couples getting married is the same thing as traditional marriage, if that’s what you mean.”
Andrew didn’t look surprised, but he seemed annoyed. “I didn’t realize you were a homophobe,” he said, only barely kidding.
“Oh, yeah, I’m terrified of you. I only hang out with you because you make the best dry martini in the world — but I’m trembling the whole time!”
“How can I hear your statement as anything but anti-gay?”
“I worry about what will happen to our society if everyone starts thinking that marriage is about any two people doing whatever they want. But that has nothing to do with being anti-gay.” I was afraid he was going to incur ocular damage from rolling his eyeballs back into his head so far, so I added, “Want me to explain?”
He folded his arms across his chest. “Sure.”
I immediately regretted my offer, wishing I’d promptly changed the subject to the weather, celebrity gossip, or any other subject inane enough that I could speak intelligently about it. I’m proud of being Catholic, and proud to stand by what the Church teaches. I converted to Catholicism in large part because I think that, through its moral code, it gives all humans a prescription for living a life of peace, in harmony with one another and with our Creator. I could not have converted to a religion that had doctrines that singled out one group of people in an unfair way, since it would seem illogical that an all-loving God would create such a system. But I knew I was going to have a hard time making my case; Andrew and I had such utterly different worldviews, it would be as if I were speaking through a distortion microphone that warps your voice and replaces every other word with random offensive phrases.
Before I could begin, the man and woman next to us caught our attention by gesticulating wildly in an animated conversation. They chatted happily over a shared plate of enchiladas, and each was wearing a wedding ring.
Andrew motioned to them. “You don’t think Tom and I are good enough to have what they have?”
“‘Good enough?’ It’s our insane culture that says that your entire life and personhood and soul are defined by your sexual attractions, not the Catholic Church. The Church articulates boundaries for behavior, not people.”
Andrew was still looking at them. They were in their late 20s, stylishly dressed, with golden summer tans. We could hear some of their conversation, and they seemed to be talking about a recent vacation. “I look at them, and I don’t see how what Tom and I have is all that different.”
“What do you see when you look at that couple? You see two people who really like each other, who decided to get married as a statement of lifelong commitment?”
“Yeah. Pretty much.”
“You’re imagining that they’re living life out of that Khalil Gibran poem, right?” I asked, referring to the famous verses that were read at a commitment ceremony we’d attended years ago. “The man and the woman each plan to do their own thing for the rest of their lives. There are no obligations on them outside of respecting one another and having fun. Is that about right?”
“Close enough. What is marriage if not a commitment? What else could it be about?” With that statement, Andrew had gotten to the core of the issue. This was the bulging pressure cooker where almost all of our culture’s misunderstanding roiled. I hoped I wouldn’t say anything that made it explode.
I tried for a silly analogy. “Have you ever looked backwards through binoculars?”
“Sure. Why?”
“That’s how I see our culture’s understanding of marriage: They’re looking backwards through the binoculars. They’re kind of getting it right, but because they have the thing flipped around, it’s going to entirely distort their view of things.”
Andrew sipped his drink. “How so?”
“Marriage is about new human life. All sexual morality is about new human life. From time immemorial, societies understood that people only respect human life to the extent that they respect the act that creates human life.” But when our culture embraced contraception, I continued, for the first time in human history, the sexual act was severed from its life-giving potential in the societal psyche. People began to feel like they had a right to the pleasure of the sexual act, without having to give a second thought to any new life that might be created. Not surprisingly, this tempted us to dehumanize those inconvenient lives that kept popping up out of the blue, and the destruction of newly conceived life became necessary in order for the “truths” of contraception to be upheld. As Pope Paul VI predicted back in 1968, the idea that we can and should exercise complete control over when new people come into the world could not be contained the realm of pregnancy alone, and an entire “culture of death” erupted as a result.
“Great soliloquy,” Andrew deadpanned. “So, umm, why is it that you don’t want Tom and I to get married?”
“Because marriage is about new human life. That’s what the binoculars analogy was about: Yes, marriage is about sex. But it’s about sex because sex is how new life is created — and, ultimately, it is an institution ordered toward protection and respect for new people.”
“So if you have a straight friend who’s infertile, you’d tell her she can’t get married either?”
“I said ordered toward. When a man and woman have sex they’re engaging in that sacred act that creates human life, even if none will be created in that particular act. It’s still sacred.”
“Okay, but for fertile couples, that sounds barbaric to say that they have to be trying to have babies all the time. Not everyone is as crazy as you guys.”
“That’s not what Catholics believe. Child spacing is perfectly fine, if done with natural methods. And the reason that natural family planning doesn’t lead to the same kind of cultural insanity as artificial contraception is because it’s a sacrifice-based system.”
“I’m not following. I don’t see why there’s any more sacrifice than with contraception — or, frankly, why it matters.”
I offered a brief overview of how NFP works, trying to avoid scarring Andrew for life with too many details about the signs and symptoms of a woman’s fertile time, and bumbled around to convey why abstaining during fertile periods is fundamentally different than artificially sterilizing the sexual act. “You don’t get to do whatever you want, whenever you want, even as a married heterosexual. All sexual activity must be ordered toward new human life, so there’s no, umm…” If there had been an awkwardness meter on the table, it would have exploded as I tried to elucidate this point without naming specific sexual acts ending in specific ways that aren’t licit in the Catholic worldview. I skipped it and moved on.
“Anyway,” I continued, “in this view you are constantly having to make sacrifices out of respect for what this act is all about: If you’re totally open to having kids, then there are the sacrifices that come with birth and raising children; if you’re abstaining during fertile times, you’re sacrificing. Infertile couples sacrifice by not using artificial methods like in vitro to force new life into existence. Gay men and women sacrifice by living chaste lives, as do people separated from their spouses, and people who are not yet married, or whose spouse has died. Notice that we’re all sacrificing, and that all of the sacrifices are about the same thing: love and respect for new human life, and specifically the act that creates new human life.”
“So you’re saying that gay men should never have sex?”
I hesitated. The way the question was phrased, to answer would make it seem like I see myself as some kind of moral authority. “I’m saying that every human being is called to make sexual sacrifices in the name of respect for human life. So, yeah, that would mean that a gay man would not act on his attractions. And would that be harder for him than for a single Catholic who hasn’t found a spouse, or for a person whose spouse has left him, for a married couple with a medical condition that’s not compatible with pregnancy — even for the average, healthy married couple who abstains regularly to space their kids? Honestly, I think it depends on the people. You’d be surprised at how much everyone sacrifices — not just people with same-sex attraction.”
“Great belief system you have there,” Andrew said. “Sounds like a barrel of laughs.”
“Andrew, you know me. You know how lazy I am, right?”
“Definitely.”
“And how weak I am? And how little fortitude I have in any area of life? Remember how I could never meet you guys for brunch because you met at eleven-thirty, and it was just too early to ask me to get up?”
“All true.”
“I have had to make plenty of sacrifices for this concept.” I told him about the DVT, my blood clotting disorder, the never-ending medical bills. “I’m not Mother Teresa in the streets of Calcutta or anything. A lot of people have it a lot worse than I do — ”
Andrew was laughing at me having used “me” in the same sentence with “Mother Teresa,” agreeing under his breath that, indeed, I am not Mother Teresa. I ignored him and continued. “Listen. Do you think that I would have gotten myself into a belief system that involves sacrifices if there weren’t a huge payoff?”
“What, does the Pope give you a pot of gold?” Andrew was on a roll.
“Ha, ha,” I said dryly. “Look, I can’t tell you what it would be like for you or any other gay man to live a chaste life. I have no idea what your sacrifices would be, and would never for a moment dream to tell you that it would be easy. But based on my own small experience, I will say this: When you get your sexuality in line with respect for human life, you get your soul in line with God, who is the Source of human life. And there is more joy there than you could imagine.” I told him about all the priests and nuns and monks who are some of the most joyful people I’ve ever met, pointing out that for thousands of years there have been large segments of society that live awesome lives without sex. I described some of the chaste single people I know who do more good for the world in a day than I do in a year. “Our society has forgotten entirely that it is perfectly possible not to have sex. Not only possible, but can even be a great thing.”
“I need a drink,” Andrew sighed, craning his neck to see if Tom and my husband were back from the bar.
“You’re not convinced?”
“You mean am I all anti-gay-marriage now after listening to your little speech?” Andrew look to the ceiling, as if appealing to the gods to help me with my ignorance. “Uhh, no.”
I didn’t expect that he would be; it certainly would have made for a weird dinner if Tom had returned from the bar to have Andrew say, “Tom! I just spent five minutes talking with Jennifer, and have decided that our love for one another would be most perfectly expressed in a chaste way! Let’s be celibate!”
“Do you at least believe that when I say that I don’t think gay marriage is a good thing, it’s not coming from a place of homophobia?” I hoped that my face expressed the depth of my concern for our friendship.
He didn’t respond right away. The silence that passed between us was palpable and heavy, as if the culture wars over human sexuality had become a physical thing that stood between us. Finally, a smile spread across his face. “You’re not homophobic. You’re just crazy, and have evidently joined an anti-sex cult!”
I laughed. “Okay. I’ll take that.” I started to make the case that Catholicism is actually quite pro-sex – so much so that it’s the only organization left in the world that demands that we respect it — but it seemed time to let the conversation drop.
The guys returned from the bar, and Andrew and I turned our attention to them. “What were you two talking about?” Tom asked.
Andrew didn’t miss a beat. “Jennifer was just agreeing with me that that shirt makes you look like you got drunk and raided Barbara Walters’ closet,” he quipped. This prompted a long and loud debate about Tom’s sartorial preferences, which would eventually end in our server announcing over our shouts and howls of laughter that the manager had asked us to please keep it down.
At the end of the evening — way too late, as always — we all exchanged hugs and promised that we’d do this more often. I watched Andrew and Tom walk away, holding hands, and prayed that I hadn’t done a totally terrible job of articulating my beliefs. I hoped that, if nothing else, he understood that there is no contradiction between me being a faithful Catholic and a close friend of his. I have converted to the religion of the crucifix, a belief system that promises joy in exchange for losing it all. Most people don’t want to sign up for that. I get that. I hope they consider it, for their own sake, since their lives would be better if they did — but it doesn’t change how I feel about them if they don’t. As the guys disappeared down the street, I hoped Andrew knew how much I loved him and Tom, and I hoped they still loved me too.

Any 'religion' or 'religious acts' that promotes violence or hatred a death culture, as a way of living of any sort, is founded on lies and on deception and on fraud and wickedness. The signs are clearly seen in the current news all over the world. 'I came to that you may have life', Christ continues to invite all, 'so that you may have life, and have it in abundance, but the enemy came to loot, to steal and to destroy' How many people and property have been destroyed in recent times? How many beautiful lives have been lost in recent times? How many have been looted, all in the name of 'religion'? Christ's command is even to love our enemies and to love our persecutors and repay them in good ways. That is the truth that our world needs, that is the medicine that every human being needs at this time whether Jew, Moslem or Christian, atheist, animist. Anything less is nothing but purified lies. What a pain that even 10years child who can merely differentiate between her left and right hands is becoming a free-willing living deadly weapon. What sort of politics is that? What sort of religion is that? What sort of ideology is that? A hatred unto and againt oneself or what? Without making mockery of other religions nor passing judgements on other religious adherents, especially the Moslems, I believe that Christ offers the best solution to all that is going on in our world today. If not for any reason for the fact that He and He alone is the only religious leader who gave willingly up Himself unto death, dying for others, and invites His followers to do the same.

Is there an established pattern or relationship mainly between the natural and economic disasters that have been suffered by the United States over the years, and the times that the United States has attempted to divide Israel in favour of the Palestinians? Now the End Begins blog recently inferred as much, pointing to twelve examples (summarized below) that seem to clearly illustrate this point:

1. The Madrid Peace Conference: 31 October 1991. President George H. Bush promoted the Madrid Peace Conference, where he attempted to divide the land of Israel in exchange for “peace” with the Palestinians. The next day, a very rare huge storm starting in the north Atlantic, moving east to west, hit North America’s eastern seaboard in October 1991 and was called a “perfect storm” because of the rare combination of factors that created it. Interestingly, one of the first places The Perfect Storm hit was Kennebunkport, Maine. Waves over 30 foot demolished the home of President George H. Bush, the instigator of the Oslo Accord.

2. The Madrid Peace Conference Part II, 23 August 1992: The Madrid Conference was not successful the first time around, so a year later President Bush tried it again. On the very same day, Hurricane Andrew smashes and crashes into Florida. Andrew causes over $30 billion in damage while destroying over 180,000 homes. At that time, Andrew was the worst natural disaster ever to hit America.

3. The Oslo Peace Accord, 13 September 1993: President George H. Bush promoted and proudly signed the infamous Oslo Accord. The Oslo Accord was labeled a “Land for Peace” accord that demanded Israel award their land to the Palestinian murderers and terrorists in exchange for peace. On the very day that the Oslo Peace Accord was agreed upon, Hurricane Emily slammed into the Outer Banks with winds up to 115 miles per hour.

4. Talks To Give Up Golan Heights, 16 January 1994: President Bill Clinton meets with terrorist and Israel hater Syria’s President Hafez el-Assad in Geneva. They talk about a peace agreement with Israel that includes Israel giving up the Golan Heights. In less than 24 hours, a powerful 6.9 earthquake rocks Southern California. This mysterious quake, centered in Northridge, is the second most destructive natural disaster to hit the United States, behind Hurricane Andrew.

5. Political Disaster: Impeachment, 21 January 1998: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meets with President Clinton at the White House and is coldly received. Clinton and Secretary of State Madeleine Albright refuse to have lunch with him. After Clinton’s rejection of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, later the very same day, the Monica Lewinsky scandal breaks out, destroying the Clinton presidency and resulting in his impeachment.

6. Land For Peace, 28 September 1998: Secretary of State Madeleine Albright finishes the final details of an agreement which requires Israel to surrender 13 percent of Yesha (Judah and Samaria). President Bill Clinton meets with Yasser Arafat and Netanyahu at the White House to finalize another Israel “land for peace” hoodwink. Later, Arafat addresses the United Nations and declares an independent Palestinian state by May 1999. The same day Hurricane George blasts the Gulf Coast with 110 mph winds and gusts up to 175 mph. The hurricane hit the coast and stalled until the agreement was finalized and Arafat addressed the UN. Then it hit and caused $1 billion in damage. At the exact time that Arafat departs the U.S., the storm begins to dissipate.

7. Land For Peace, 15 October 1998:Arafat and Netanyahu meet at the Wye River Plantation in Maryland. The talks are scheduled to last five days with the focus on Israel giving up 13 percent of Yesha. Two days later, on October 17, heavy storms and tornadoes hit southern Texas. The San Antonio area is deluged with rain. The rain and flooding in Texas continue until October 22 and then subside. The floods ravage 25 percent of Texas and leave over one billion dollars in damage. On October 21, Clinton declares this section of Texas a major disaster area.

8. Negotiations To Give Away Jerusalem, 30 November 1998:Arafat arrives in Washington again to meet with President Clinton to raise money for a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as the capital. A total of 42 other nations were represented in Washington. All the nations agreed to give Arafat $3 billion in aid. Clinton promised $400 million, and the European nations $1.7 billion. The same day, in a Financial disaster, the Dow Jones average drops 216 points, and on December 1, the European Market had its third worst day in history. Hundreds of billions of market capitalization were wiped out in the U.S. and Europe.

9. Land For Peace, 12 December 1998: President Clinton arrives in the Palestinian-controlled section of Israel to discuss another “land for peace” fiasco. The same day, the U.S. House of Representatives vote four articles of impeachment against President Clinton.

10. Negotiations To Give Away Jerusalem, 3 May, 1999:Yasser Arafat schedules a press conference to announce a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as the capital. The same day, the most powerful tornado storm system ever to hit the United States whips through Oklahoma and Kansas. The winds are clocked at 316 mph, the fastest wind speed ever recorded. Arafat postpones his announcement to December 1999 at the request of buddy President Clinton. In his letter to Arafat, Clinton praises and encourages Arafat for his “aspirations for his own land.”

11. The Roadmap To Peace, 8 June 2001:President George W. Bush sends Secretary Tenet to Jerusalem to promote his “Roadmap to Peace,” the continuation of the failed Oslo Accord. The same day, Tropical storm Allison hits Texas the home state of President George W. Bush. Allison causes over $7 billion in damage and closes George Bush Airport for two days. Allison continues for five long days. When Tenet leaves Jerusalem, Allison settles down.

12. America Pressures Israel To Give Up The Gaza Strip, 23 August 2005: Gush Katif was paradise. And it was destroyed by those who took it over. Israel completed the evacuation of the Gaza Strip and gave it to the Palestinians. The Gaza Strip evacuation came directly from President Bush’s “Roadmap to Peace.” Hurricane Katrina formed on the same, exact day that the last settlers were evacuated: August 23. Defying the computer models, Katrina turned south-east, scraped the south tip of Florida and then with the vengeance of a runaway freight train Katrina took an unexpected turn into the warm Gulf Coast… When Katrina ended her deadly mission America suffered the worst disaster in her storied history.

The reference scripture quoted in the blog is from Obadiah 1:15 which states: “For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.” The timing and force of these disasters seems to clearly indicate the hand of God upholding his promises to Abraham and his seed in Genesis 12:3, and other scriptures.

Others seem to believe that although these disasters reflect the judgment of God against the U.S, the position taken by Now the End Begins blog, and other similar sources, is narrow and does not consider other possibilities. Wild Olive.co.uk states: “Some disasters appear to be related to God's promise to bless those who bless Israel but curse those who slight Israel…But can we treat disasters in this way?... If we assert that God hit the USA with Katrina, we could be misrepresenting God. God may only have lifted His protecting hand. To interpret all these events only as judgment ignores Jesus teaching about persecution and disasters to come, the coming tribulation and the wrath of the Adversary against God's people in the end times.”

Despite the diversity of views, it would be wisest to heed the voice of the One who plainly stated prophetically to Abram (later Abraham), from whom the “great nation” of the Jewish race descended:
I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.(Genesis 12:2-3).

Also in the Book of Zechariah the warning is found: “Up, Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.” For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye” (Zechariah 2:7-.

It is true that has a lot changed since 2001 but the fundamental arguements and counterarguments have not changed much on either side. The conflict is an eternal one. Right from the Old Testament of the Christian Bible up till now, Jerusalem has witnessed all sorts of fights. Fights which assume different names and different reasons. The fight will continue, until the Second Coming of Christ. No politician nor religious leader will be able to bring a lasting peace there. Any one who attempts to do that will be a liar, in principle and in reality. The Bible is very clear on that. Many think it is all about US, oil money, the Jewish lobby. What is going on in Mid-East is prophetic in nature.

The following is the final installment transcript of a commentary given by Hal Lindsey in May of 2001. I have transcribed it below as a fitting conclusion to this segment on the Israeli and Palestinian problems.

JERUSALEM:THE BOTTOM LINE

TRANSCRIPTION:
Frankly, if I take a look at the situation Israel is in at this moment from purely a human point of view, I would say that they do not have a chance of survival as a nation. The Muslim nations that surround Israel are far more prepared for a war of annihilation than they were in the past. Conventionally, their weapons are first rate. Syria, Egypt, Jordan and Iraq alone possess more front line main battle tanks than the United States. They have far more advanced fighter bomber aircraft than Israel. They have well trained, well equipped armies that outnumber Israel ten to one. They have artillery and missiles that can accurately hit both military targets and the civilian population centers of Israel.
But where the balance of power has really changed is in the area of weapons of mass destruction. All of the nations surrounding Israel now have terrifying stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons. Some are believed to have a few nuclear bombs. It's fairly certain that Iran has at least three or four atomic warheads. All these nations named above now have missiles capable of hitting any target in Israel with accuracy.
Following World War II, there were just three nuclear nations – the United States, England, and France. Then came the Soviets and Chinese. Today the list is much longer for both nuclear countries and those almost there. Israel, South Africa, North Korea, Syria, Iran, India, Pakistan, Iraq, and Libya all already have nuclear weapons or are in a race to build them.
Internationally, Israel is more isolated than ever. Virtually all nations today are more sympathetic to the Palestinians than they are to Israel. Only the United States stands up for Israel's survival and seeks to keep her supplied with new weapons. But this support is a fragile thing. Given our dependence on Persian Gulf oil, it can be very fragile. In any event, if Israel were over-run by enemy forces, it is doubtful that we would step in directly with our armed forces.
The United Nations has just passed a United States sponsored resolution recognizing the vision of a future Palestinian state (March 2002). It would seem on the face of it all that both the US and the UN are rewarding the Palestinians for terrorism. The administration advances a number of arguments in favor of statehood, but they fall apart when examined closely.
1. Statehood will bring peace to the Middle East. Statehood will do nothing to erase a decade of anti-Isralie brainwashing in Arafat's school system. Only the truth can do that.
2. The hope that statehood will satisfy the Palestinians and peace will come. The charter of the Palestinian Liberation Organization was composed in 1964. Three years before there were any occupied territories to liberate. The charter defines the PLO sole purpose as to the destruction of Israel. The Palestinian Authority agreed to discuss revising the charter, and that's all they ever did – discuss it. It was never amended. In 2002, the PLO's defining purpose officially remains – Israel's destruction. Exactly as it was in 1964. Despite the spin to the contrary, facts are facts!
3. Statehood is based on the hope that Arafat will keep his promise to respect Israel's right to exist within secure borders. Arafat signed seven cease fire promises in the last twelve months, but broke all seven. In speeches, he promises a Palestinian state reaching from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean. The PA's official maps of Palestine don't mention Israel, but include all of Israel's territory as Palestinian territory.
4. It is argued that statehood will end Israel's occupation of Palestinian territory and rectify an historic injustice against the Arabs. Nobody has ever defined what constitutes Palestinian territory. Until 1967, the West Bank was Jordan, and Gaza was Egypt. The only Palestinian territory is Israel. The real historic injustice was the Arab refusal to accept the United Nations partition plan in the first place. The Palestinians would have had a state since 1948 if they had. But Jerusalem would have been an International city – the Palestinians could not accept this.
5. Statehood will assure Palestinian human rights. The Palestinian record on human rights was displayed this last week. Two people suspected of collaborating with Israel were murdered without a trial. Then their bodies were dragged through the streets to a cheering crowd and on to Bethelem's major square.
6. Statehood is expected to solve the Palestinian refugee problem. There is only one problem. The Palestinians say they will not absorb the refugees that are in Jordan and the surrounding countries. The right of return they demand is that Israel must absorb the refugees into it's diminished territory. If Israel does, it's population will be overwhelmed by returning Palestinian refugees. Israel will cease to exist as a Jewish state in the next election. If Israel does not accept them then Arafat will build refugee camps for them. These camps will become breeding grounds for terrorists, just like they did in Jordan and Lebanon. Only this time they will be in the heart of Israel.
7. It is argued that statehood will end Israel's economic oppression of the Palestinians. You know this would be laughable if it weren't so desperately serious. Israel depresses them economically by not letting them work in Israel, doing so because of the fear of allowing more Palestinian terrorists into Israel. You see there are no jobs in the Palestinian Authority territory. All the billions of dollars in international donations that have disappeared into the private bank accounts of Arafat and his cronies has been forgotten. Not to mention the multitude of weapons that were purchased with the money. Because of the PA's greed and ineptness, the jobs are all in Israel. Palestinian statehood will not change this situation.
Israel's birth came with blood and fire. No nation was willing to recognize Israel until America did. Many still oppose recognition. Israel is the UN whipping boy. It has been officially condemned by United Nations resolutions more times in 50 years than all the other nations of the world combined. Yet the UN is rushing to grant recognition to a Palestinian state ruled by proven and unashamed terrorists. A state populated by citizens who approve of suicide bombing to achieve political goals by a margin of four to one.
Doesn't anyone recognize the colossal wrong that is now seemingly being accepted by most nations of the world? But all this is about to change!
In Psalm 2, verses 1 through 9, we read:
"Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against His Anointed One. 'Let us break their chains', they say, 'and throw off their fetters.' The One enthroned in Heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. Then He rebukes them in His anger and terrifies them in His wrath, saying, 'I have installed my King on Zion, My holy hill. I will proclaim the decree of the Lord. He said to me, 'You are My Son; today I have become your Father. Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. You will rule them with an iron scepter; you will dash them to pieces like pottery."
You know Jesus did not leave us in doubt as to who this prophecy refers. When questioned at His trial, under oath by the religious leaders, He was asked:
"Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?" "I AM," said Jesus. "And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of Heaven." (Mark 14:61-62)
Islam says God has no Son. Even most of the Christian world doesn't believe Jesus will return. What's worse, Israel doesn't yet believe that Jesus is it's Messiah and is it's only hope. But we are all about to come face to face with Him whether we believe it or not. Israel is God's clock counting down to the last day. Events in the Middle East clearly show that the hands are approaching the midnight hour.
For over forty five years I've been studying what the Bible Prophets predicted about these very events that are unfolding before us. Moses predicted that Israel would be destroyed and dispersed twice in future history. The second dispersion, he said, would be very severe, and scatter the people of Israel in every country on earth. Other prophets pick up this theme and predict that when Israel is returned and miraculously reborn in the last days, she would never be destroyed and scattered again. Ezekiel, Chapters 36 through 40, make this very clear. However, Ezekiel and other prophets predict that Israel will experience a catastrophic invasion by it's surrounding nations that will come close to destroying her. But the Bible predicts that Israel's Messiah will intervene and save her.
According to the Word of God, the nation that was reborn in 1948 will never be destroyed again. The Messiah, Jesus, will rescue it out of a critical moment and the people will turn in faith to Him. Zachariah the Prophet predicts:
"In that day, the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem. The one who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David. And the House of David shall be like God, like the Angel of the Lord before them. It shall be in that day, the Lord says, I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. And I will pour out on the House of David, on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of Grace and Supplication. Then they will look on Me whom they have pierced, and they will mourn for Me as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Me as one grieves for his first born." (Zachariah 12:8-10)
As I look at current events, and try to reconcile them with what's developing right now, I realize it will take a miracle of God to preserve Israel – and that is exactly what is promised. God makes it clear that it's not because Israel deserves to be rescued, but because He promised He would do it, and His Name is at stake.
"Therefore, say to the House of Israel, thus says the Lord God, I do not do this for your sake, O House of Israel, but for My Holy Name's sake, which you have profaned among the nations where you were dispersed. For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land."
(Ezekiel 36:22,24)
God declares that all of this will be a witness to the gentiles who survive. He says:
"So they will say, this desolate land has become like the garden of Eden. And the wasted, desolate and ruined cities are now fortified and inhabited. Then the nations that are left all around you shall know that I the Lord have rebuilt the ruined places and planted what was desolate. I the Lord have spoken it, and I will do it." (Ezekiel 36:35-36)
Many of my critics have asked me, "What would it take, Hal, for you to admit that your view of prophecy is wrong?" I have one stock answer. If Israel is destroyed as a nation, then I would have to rethink my whole understanding of Bible prophecy.
I believe that we are very near the zero hour when we'll begin to see some very earth-shaking events. Israel could be attacked in a limited war before the coming of Jesus for the Church (the Rapture). This war could be so frightening to all the world that it will make it ripe for the Antichrist to step up and negotiate a pseudo-peace that is brokered by the Devil himself. This could be a war in which tactical nuclear weapons are used – including neutron bombs against troop concentrations. It could even be the time when the prophecy about the total destruction of Damascus is fulfilled in Isaiah Chapter 17 verse 1. This would certainly stop the other Muslim nations in their tracks. Israel has promised that it will nuke any Arab nation that uses chemical, biological, or nuclear weapons against them– and Israel has at least 200 nuclear warheads with the missiles to deliver them accurately.
Friends, we live in very dangerous times. But it's comforting to know that God will take care of His own. We need to learn His promises and believe them for peace and stability in the midst of the fearful things that are about to come. The great hope is that Jesus is soon coming for the believers. Let's take as many with us as we can.
As I complete this heavy report, I'm especially burdened that we pray for our president. President Bush, I believe, is especially open to the leading of God, because he is a believer. And I believe that Colin Powell is also. Let's pray every day for these men, because they have momentous decisions to make and very soon. He had to hit the ground running with this problem in the Middle East and it is not an easy problem to solve. But the decisions he's making right now are going to have long term effects. Not only does he have to deal with wisdom concerning the Middle East crisis, and we pray that he will have it from God, but he also has to deal with our relationship with China. And he needs great wisdom in how to deal in a way that doesn't provoke or doesn't look weak. So let's claim the promise of Proverbs:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6)

JERUSALEM: WAR OR PEACE

The situation in the Middle East is heating up as the seven year anniversary of the Oslo Agreement approaches. The Middle East peace process now hangs on a single issue. The final status of Jerusalem. What does it mean both now and for the future? We will examine this most perplexing political problem of this age. Both the Israelis and the Palestinians claim the city of Jerusalem as their God given inheritance. Who is right?
Islam's entire claim to Jerusalem is based on the Koran. Despite the fact that Jerusalem isn't mentioned even once in that entire book. By contrast, Israel's religious and historical claim is well documented. The city figures prominently in the Old Testament being mentioned more than six hundred times. On the other hand the Muslim claim to the city is based on the Koran 17:1, which refers ambiguously to Al-Quds, which means "the furthest mosque". This passage in the Muslim bible reads, "Glory be to Allah who did take his servant for a journey at night from the sacred mosque to the furthest mosque." Many Muslim, especially in the north African countries do not even know the name Jerusalem. They call it Al-Quds. All Islam claims to Jerusalem is based on this one reference to the furthest mosque. But what is the evidence to support the position that either the Dome of the Rock Mosque with the gold dome, or the Al-Aqsa Mosque both located on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem is the Al-Quds, or furthest mosque referred to in the Koran?

The prophet Mohammed died in the year 632 AD. At the time of his death, Jerusalem was under the occupation of the Byzantine empire. When Mohammed died, there were no mosques in Jerusalem. On the Temple Mount stood a Christian church, the church of St. Mary. For Mohammed to have ascended to Heaven on a winged steed, he would have to ride that horse into a Christian church, and ascend to Heaven on a Christian alter. Now that is an unthinkable act to a Muslim.
The Muslims did not capture Jerusalem until 638 AD, six years after Mohammed's death. The gold domed Dome of the Rock Mosque which today stands on the Temple Mount, from which Mohammed supposedly ascended into Heaven, didn't exist until 711 AD, eighty years after Mohammed's death. In fact, the Christian church of St. Mary which stood on the Temple Mount at the time of the Muslim conquest, was restored and was then renamed Al-Aqsa so it would sound like the mosque mentioned in the Koran.
It seems obvious that Mohammed could not have been referring to Jerusalem as the site of the furthest mosque when he compiled the Koran. The mosque didn't exist for a full three generations after his death. In the days of Mohammed, the mosque at Mecca was the most sacred mosque. Whereas the mosque located in Medina was known as the furthest mosque.
In the light of true history, the basis of the Muslim claim to Jerusalem is impossible.
According to history, Mohammed didn't see Jerusalem as a place sacred to Islam. Indeed, he issued a prohibition against the practice of facing Jerusalem in prayer. He had originally instituted the practice as part of an effort to convert Jews to Islam. The effort failed, and on February 12, 624 AD, Mohammed issued an official religious edict forbidding observant Muslims from facing Jerusalem in prayer.
From that February day, Jerusalem never held any sacred status with Islam for the rest of Mohammed's life. The religious super status of Jerusalem didn't appear until it became politically expedient in the twentieth century. In 1917, the British Empire captured Jerusalem from the Muslim Ottoman empire. It is then that the Muslim leader issued the edict declaring Jerusalem the third holiest site in the Islamic religion.
In Europe, the ghettos were beginning to break up under the impact of the scientific revolution sweeping the continent. The ghettos served two purposes in Europe. First they kept the Jews away from the gentiles. It was, after all, the gentiles who forced the Jews into the ghettos to begin with. But it served an important purpose for the Jews. It kept them from being assimilated into their host population. As the ghetto system began to dissolve, their distinct cultural identity was jeopardized. The Jews of Europe had two choices before them – a homeland or cultural extension. For the Jews, any country no matter how hospitable, would be exile. Only Israel could be home.
At the close of the nineteenth century, the old Isralie homeland of two thousand years past, now an Arab state, was perfectly suited for a Jewish state. It was a sparsely populated, marginal province of the dying Ottoman empire. The land was populated by groups from a number of religions and seemed to have no national consciousness of it's own.
As the ghettos began to disappear in Europe, Jews living inside Jerusalem began to rebel against the old religious order. They began to hear the call of the land and started farming communities and to revive the ancient Hebrew language, which was probably one of the most centralizing facts of all. Hebrew returned to the Jews as a living vernacular and a national renaissance started. It was the time as the prophet Isaiah had predicted in 43:5-6. "Fear not for I am with thee. I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west. I will say to the north, give up, and to the south, keep not back, bring my sons from afar, and my daughters from the ends of the earth." The land of Israel responded to the touch of the people with a promise. What was desert fifty years ago, today supplies ninety five percent of Europe's oranges, and exports tulips to Holland. The transformation of Israel from desert, from waste land, to the oasis it is today could have taken place anytime within the last 500 years. Years of Muslim rule. Except for this missing ingredient. The land was waiting for the Jews just as Ezekiel 36 promised it would.
On November 29, 1947, the UN General Assembly passed resolution 181. That resolution forever changed the status of Jerusalem. By passing 181 the UN declared one covenant with Jerusalem, and another covenant with the rest of the world. Israel as a nation falls under the auspices of the UN Charter. Jerusalem, on the other hand, has a special status unique among the cities of the world. It is the only city in the world with such standing. Six months before there was a state of Israel, Jerusalem was established as an international city under the jurisdiction of the trusteeship council.
In 1950, the UN passed a document called The Statute For The City Of Jerusalem. The UN set forth it's objective to protect and preserve the unique spiritual and religious interests located in the city of the three great faiths throughout the world – Christian, Jewish, and Moslem. To this end – to ensure that order and peace, and especially religious peace, reign in Jerusalem.
This shows again how history can be totally changed in the minds of people, and thus becomes more powerful than the truth. The UN is man's attempt to counterfeit the one thousand year millennial reign of Christ as promised in the Bible. It even quotes Isaiah's passage about beating swords into plow shares on it's New York edifice. But Isaiah was talking about the kind of peace that will be wrought by the Prince of Peace. The UN brings peace at the point of a sword, contradicting the very verse they quote by Isaiah. Just as the Serbs, the UN has spent most of the past fifty years trying to enforce, by edict, that which God alone can settle.
God chose Jerusalem long before Satan attempted to exercise his control over the city of God. As Zachariah explained it, "And the Lord said to Satan, the Lord rebuke you, O Satan, even the Lord that has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you. Is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?" God Himself claims Jerusalem as His holy city. Satan would reduce it to ashes. But it isn't going to happen just that way. God said that it would be as a brand plucked from the fire, rescued from the holocaust Satan has planned for it. And so it will be. The UN declared it a city separate from the rest of the world, but God declared it His, first. And His declaration will, in the end, be the only one that really matters.
One of Arafat most affective weapons is the anti Isralie propaganda campaign. He has been waging this campaign in violation of the Oslo agreement since the day he signed it. Official Palestinian television recently broadcast a play performed by girls in a summer camp. The play shows the Israelis as murderers and thieves of their land.
It begins with the father speaking to his son Sala in the field.
Sala: Why do the settlers take people's land?
Father: These settlers, you can't trust them. They take land in order to build tall houses for themselves and we must move to the street.
Father to Mohammed: What is the settlers' goal regarding your land?
Mohammed: They want to take my land that I plowed and harvested.
Father: Those dogs. The settlers take but don't give.
The father is left alone in the field as a group of armed Israelis enter the stage, one of them dressed as an Israeli soldier.
Father: Get off my land. Get off my land. Stop taking peoples' land.
The Israelis wave a sheet of paper and say: Listen, it says on this piece of paper that this land is ours.
Father yelling and ripping the paper: The land is my property.
Pushing and shoving and blows are exchanged.
Father: Get off my land. I plowed and harvested it.
The Israelis push him to the ground and shoot him and walk away.
The son returns and says: Father, what did they do to you? Why are you fallen like that?
Father: My son Sala, watch over the land because the settlers want to take the land that I plowed.
Yasir Arafat learned his lessons taught by Israel's most successful enemies. This sort of drama is designed to deeply embed a passionate hatred of the Jews in a child's mind. Arafat has the best possible teachers for this sort of psychological conditioning. He is an unabashed admirer of Adolph Hitler and a keen student of his philosophy concerning the Jews. Throughout the 1930's Hitler commissioned hundreds of films and plays like "The Eternal Jew". They were designed to prepare the average German to accept the final solution of the death camps. It worked for Hitler, and Arafat is betting that it will work for him now.
It is obvious, even to an amateur observer that the Palestinians are preparing for war. Just recently, it came out that the Palestinian youth are being trained for gorilla warfare. They recently acquired fourteen platoons, and 50 BTR52 armored personnel carriers. These personnel carriers are military assault vehicles. They are also preparing for heavier armor. They acquired at least 30 flat bed trucks that have only one basic use – transporting main battle tanks into combat areas. They're not used to transport tour busses, I assure you. Egypt has hundreds of modern battle tanks near the border of the Gaza Strip. This could be transferred to the Palestinian army quickly if war began. The above mentioned personnel carriers are armed with multiple 50 caliber machine guns. If these were for police work it would be like hunting mosquitoes with a shotgun. These machine guns pack a punch roughly three times that of the US M16 rifle. The Soviets developed the BTR52 armored personnel carriers from 1950 to 1960 primarily for the Muslim clients against Israel. It's effectiveness was proven by the Soviets in Afghanistan which has conditions very similar to Israel's. It is a perfect fighting vehicle for the terrain and conditions found in Israel. It's speed and fire power make up for it's lighter defensive armor plating. It is especially deadly at night. It is equipped with night vision equipment and can carry 20 assault troops at speeds of up to 75 miles per hour in rough terrain. At the Palestinian Army's unofficial headquarters in Jerusalem, detailed records are kept showing topographical, logistic, military and population information on strategic Israeli targets.
It's certain that all these preparations are not for police work or military parades. Where is the UN protest about this? All of this equipment and training is in direct and specific violation of the Oslo peace agreement. In fact, the whole purpose of the present peace negotiations was to prevent the very thing that is openly going on now in front of our very noses. So where is the UN protest? Where are the condemnations of the western nations? They are all so quick to condemn Israel for infinitely fewer issues. Since Israel has already given ninety percent of what was promised, where is some sign of at least good faith from the Muslims? Maybe it's time to remember that before June 1967 the Arab nations already had everything that they are asking for now. Yet they still launched three wars against Israel. Those facts alone should wake up someone in Israel, and the west as well, to the reality of it all.
Israel's leading spiritual leaders recently conducted a formal hearing to explore an explosive proposal to construct a synagogue on the Temple Mount. At it's monthly meeting the chief council discussed the proposal at the request of the chief rabbi. The proposal as it stands failed to win approval. But it has renewed a debate in Israel that has simmered for 2,000 years. There is currently a ban forbidding Jews to set foot on the Temple Mount. The ban is the result of a kind of circular logic. Jews cannot set foot on the Temple Mount because all living Jews are ritually defiled. The only way to cleanse the defilement under Jewish law requires the restoration of temple worship. The temple doesn't exist, so no ritual cleansing can take place. As momentum grows for Jewish presence on the Temple Mount, so also does support for rebuilding the temple.
And of course, any talk about rebuilding the temple is an implicit threat against the existing Muslim mosque now occupying the site of the original second Jewish temple where the new temple must be constructed. That only serves to increase the likelihood of a coming war between Israel and her Arab neighbors over the city of Jerusalem, the third holiest site in Islam. The Bible says that during the seven year tribulation period, the temple, or some form of the temple worship will again take place on the Temple Mount.
Second Thessalonians predicts that the Antichrist will declare himself to be God in the Holy of Holies of the temple of God, thereby committing the ultimate sacrilege. His declaration takes place exactly three and a half years prior to Christ's Second Coming. This act, known in prophecy as the Abomination of Desolation will launch the most horrific war in the history of mankind. According to prophecy this war will imperil the very existence of the Israelites.
It's obvious that such an important prophetic event cannot take place without a rebuilt temple. The third temple need not be restored to it's original grandeur to qualify. Even a quickly erected temporary temple made according to the ancient measurements will qualify. This recent council of Israel's leading spiritual leaders is the first time in modern history that Israel's Rabbinate has even entertained the possibility of an official Jewish presence on the Temple Mount. Bible prophecy clearly reveals that it won't be the last. The prophet Zachariah predicts that in the last days the whole world will gather against Israel because of the dispute over Jerusalem. Any Jewish attempt to reassert sovereignty over this site would eventually cause exactly what Zachariah predicted. So for the first time in history everything is in place to fulfill this prophecy.
Arafat has made it clear that no price short of getting back east Jerusalem will purchase peace between the two peoples. But there is a little known fact – Not every Arab in Jerusalem wants to see the Palestinian authority take control of the old city. Many east Jerusalem Arabs have begun paying up all their debts to the Jewish Jerusalem municipal authority. Many are also bringing their interior ministry documents up to date. If a Palestinian state is declared, they'll be able to claim Isralie citizenship instead of being annexed to an Arab state. Senior Palestinian officials believe that if the question was put to a referendum, an overwhelming majority of Arabs would vote to remain under Israeli control.
This is one of the most amazing facts our study has brought out for this report. And that is that they have prospered under Isralie control, and not really been hampered. Look at the lands that the Israeli now control. It's green, it's fertile, it produces. Look at the way it was and look at now, then look at the Palestinian side. Another interesting point also – we know a few Christian Palestinians who do business and have done business under Israeli control – they don't have to pay the kind of taxes that they would have to pay under the Palestinian control.
This just goes to prove the obvious. Most of the Arabs who demand control of Jerusalem don't live there. Those who do would rather live under an Isralie democracy than under a traditional authoritarian Arab government. This is what makes any negotiation between Israel and the Palestinians all but impossible.
Arafat has to not just represent the Palestinian demands but the demands of the entire Muslim world. And the most vocal demands are from the fanatic Islamic regimes which want absolutely no compromises whatsoever. But the coming battle for Jerusalem won't be about who would govern best. In the majority Muslim world view, no city at all is preferable to a Jewish controlled Jerusalem. That is something that eludes the western diplomats trying to solve a deeply rooted religious problem with political tools. And that all but guarantees that the issue will still be on the table when the false peace maker, the one we know from biblical prophecy as the Antichrist, takes center stage. And I don't believe that's far off.
The battle for Jerusalem is four thousand years old and counting. It's time, whether you're Palestinian, Arab, Gentile, or Jew, to come to the real point, that the solution is not political. It is to come to a personal faith in Jesus Christ. He paid the penalty for all our shortcomings that would qualify us for God's acceptance. So right now, accept the gift of pardon that Jesus Christ paid for you no matter what your racial or ethnic background is. Receive this now and enter eternal life.

This program discusses and explains the difficulties involved in achieving peace between Israel, the Palestinians, and all surrounding Arab nations, and how it all began over 4,000 years ago. I'm certain you will consider this very interesting and informative.

JERUSALEM: THE WORLD IN CONFLICT
TRANSCRIPTION:
The most recent effort to hammer out an agreement between Israel and the Palestinians has collapsed in failure, as have all efforts in the past. The Israelis blame the Palestinians. The Palestinians blame the Israelis. Both sides accuse the United States of being biased for the other, and the stumbling block as announced by President Clinton as the summit closed, is Jerusalem. We all know how difficult the problem of Jerusalem is. Always it comes down to Jerusalem, and when it does, it stops the peace process dead in it's tracks.
Why is this dusty little city in the middle of a tiny little country so valuable to both sides? Jerusalem has none of the qualities that explain the founding of a great city. It is not a seaport. It isn't on a river. It isn't on a trade route or caravan trail. It isn't on a major natural source of fresh water. It isn't strategically located for military defense purposes. There has been only one reason for the centuries of passion that have been lavished upon it. Jerusalem's earliest history ties it to the realm of the spirit and God. It was first mentioned in Genesis 14:18-20, circa 2000 BC, as being the home of Melchizedek. He was the mysterious and great priest of the Most High God to whom even Abraham bowed.
Melchizedek's city was then called Salem, or Peace in Hebrew. After this it was the home of a fierce people called the Jebusites. Many of these were giants standing more than eight feet tall. Even Joshua and Caleb could not drive them out. So until King David, the city was called Jebus, and the Israelites lived there under the Jebusite rule. David finally defeated the Jebusites with an amazing victory in spite of their heavy fortifications and huge warriors. Psalm 24 records how the Jebusites taunted David and his army and mocked the God of Israel. That was their big mistake. David entreated Israel's God to enable him to defeat them, and he did. So a little over one thousand years before the birth of Christ, David established the city as the eternal capital of Israel by God's command. The city that had been called Jebus and Salem became Jerusalem. The city of peace. The City of David.
It was King David of Israel who, on instructions from God, bought a threshing floor in Jerusalem for 600 shekels of gold. The owner of the land was willing to donate the land but David insisted, wisely, in paying the full price for a clear title for what is today, the most strategic 35 acres on earth, the Temple Mount. It was on this site that David built an altar and offered burnt offerings. It was on this same site that his son Solomon was directed to build God's Temple. Jerusalem became the one place on earth where God's manifest presence dwelt, in the Holy of Holies of Solomon's temple. This is why the city is much more than a plot of earth, or stones, or buildings, or culture, or ancestral tradition to the sons of Israel. Without Jerusalem, Judaism has no ultimate meaning. Without Jerusalem, Israel's God has no place for meeting with His people. Indeed, without Jerusalem, the chosen people of God feel there is no validity to their existence. This is almost an impossible burden for any city to bare. Yet this is the burden that is forever part of the legacy of Jerusalem.
And so it has remained for three thousand years ever since it's founding by Israel's greatest king. Love for this city and all it represents preserved the Israelites as a unique and peculiar people down through the centuries of dispersion. Every year in the homes of Jews throughout the world, Passover ended with the prayer, "Next year in Jerusalem".
In 70 AD the Romans destroyed the Jewish temple completely. The gold that decorated it melted down between the massive stones of the temple itself. For the soldiers to get to the gold, they virtually dismantled it piece by piece. Thus was Jesus' prophecy of 37 years earlier literally fulfilled. He said, "Not one stone will be left standing on another." The temple, the seat of God's earthly throne, was lost to the Jews. It was now the time of the Gentiles. All that remained was the hope of "Next year in Jerusalem". Ironically, the city has experienced little of that for which it was named. Peace has been more of a prayer of hope than a reality.
What Jesus predicted about the interim condition of Jerusalem from it's destruction until it's return to the Israelites at the time of His Second Coming became literally fulfilled. Listen to Jesus' prophecy. "And they, Israel, shall fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem shall be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled." (Luke 21:24)
In Jerusalem's early history, it was caught between the conquest ambition of the great empires of antiquity. Israel sits in the middle of a land bridge that connects three continents. Anyone who wants to build an empire that embraces Asia, Africa, and Europe has to conquer the key span in the middle of that bridge, Israel. And since it's capitol is Jerusalem, it came in for one siege after another. The Assyrians, the Hittites, the Egyptians, the Babylonians, the Persians, the Greeks, and the Romans, all in turn, sounded their war trumpets at the gates of Jerusalem. God miraculously delivered Jerusalem many times. However, their greatest danger was never from without, but from within.
Because of Israel's frequent departure from faith in their God, He brought upon Jerusalem a destruction about which His prophets had long warned them. This happened twice in their history exactly fulfilling the prophetic warnings that had been given. In the long period since Jerusalem's second destruction by the Romans, the battle for Jerusalem has become the flash point of a four thousand year old conflict.
The family feud between two half brothers, Ishmael and Isaac, whose father was Abraham, has exploded upon our current scene and dragged the whole world into it. The Arabs are the descendants of Ishmael. They have always believed that the Israelites cheated them out of their inheritance. About AD 622, this deep age-old resentment became part of a new religion that was started by one of Ishmael's sons, Mohammed. The religion of Islam is intensely woven around the Arab culture and passions. So wherever Islam has been embraced, Ishmael's passion of hatred toward the Jew has been embraced with it.
Many years after Mohammed's death, some teachers of Islam began to claim something that would bind religious passions of all Muslims to Jerusalem forever. A myth was created that Mohammed and his horse were miraculously flown to the temple mount in Jerusalem on the night of his death. Mohammed ascended into Heaven, according to this myth fabrication, on his horse from the rock on which Abraham had been willing to sacrifice his son (the Temple Mount Mosque now encloses this rock). And of course they believe that the son to be sacrificed was Ishmael, not Isaac. Based on this teaching, Jerusalem is the third holiest site in Islam. Only Mecca and Medina are seen as more important. The blood that has been spilled because of this fervent belief is beyond calculation. And yet the past is merely a prelude to the blood that is soon to be spilled over this same issue. According to the prophet Zachariah, this ancient conflict between Ishmael and Isaac over Jerusalem will be the fuse which starts the last war of the world. And now that this issue has been made part of both Islam and Judaism, solving it is impossible. Muslims believe to give Jerusalem to the Israelites is to confess that the Koran, the holiest teachings of Islam, were wrong. Israelis believe that to give up Jerusalem is the same as saying their Holy Bible is wrong, and that all the sufferings in exile was for nothing.
Now to sum all this up, this is what the Jews believe is at stake here. Jerusalem is part of being a Jew. And part of being a Jew is Jerusalem. Without one, the other cannot exist. It is the city of promise. Isaiah predicts that Jerusalem will be the world's capitol city during the Messiah's one thousand year reign on earth. The possession of Jerusalem is viewed as critical for the survival of the Israelites.
To the Jew, if Jerusalem ceases to be, there is no longer reason for Israel to exist.
God Himself calls Jerusalem His Holy City at least eleven times. It is the only city on earth so designated. God declares "It is the city called by My Name". As I previously mentioned, Jesus said, "Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled."
Jerusalem remained in the hands of the Romans and Byzantine until AD638. The invading Muslims drove them out and held the city until the eleventh century. It changed hands a number of times after that. Then came the Crusaders. The city was passed back and forth between the Crusaders and the Muslims until the thirteenth century. Egypt took over in the fourteenth century. Jerusalem fell to the Ottoman Turks in 1517. The city was virtually ignored for the next 500 years. Jerusalem became of little importance in the Muslim Turkish empire.
The final stages of Jerusalem's destiny really began when the British General Alanby captured Palestine and Jerusalem in 1917. (Webmaster Note: Until that time, Israel, as a nation, had not existed for almost two thousand years. The land which is now Israel and the land now occupied by the Palestinians was called Palestine, and was considered, at that time, an Arab nation) When the British terminated their mandate over Palestine May 15, 1948, the Israelites declared the state of Israel. It is only when the Jews returned and wanted Jerusalem that the Muslims suddenly discovered this current all-consuming passion for Jerusalem. History verifies this statement.
In spite of nearly twenty centuries of war, conquest and neglect, Jerusalem survived, and so did the Jews. Confidently praying each Pass Over "Next year in Jerusalem". More than twenty five hundred years ago the psalmist wrote, "If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth. If I do not prefer Jerusalem above my chief joy." (Psalm 137:5,6)
The Israelis claim the city as their historical capitol. In other words, they claim the right of prior ownership. The Israelis have a legal claim to the city as the spoils of war also. The Israelis captured the city in 1967 when they defeated the invading Arab armies, including Jordan. Israel also captured what was historically Judea and Sumaria. Today it's called West Bank.
When the largely migrant farmers who had been sent to Palestine to prevent Isralie occupation were abandoned by all Muslim countries. The fleeing refugees were shoved into refugee camps by their own Muslim brothers. They were then presented to the world as the Palestinian people. From one of these refugee camps emerged Yasir Arafat, and over night the refugees were transformed into something not known before, the Palestinian people. Such status was never given by the centuries of Muslim rule before Israel was born.
President Clinton said that the Camp David talks failed because the two sides refused to compromise over Jerusalem. Jerusalem was founded, as we said, by King David. God gave title deed to Jerusalem, and only to one people – the Jews. Jerusalem is the only city with a place in eternity according to the Bible. The Arabs say Jerusalem is their holy city despite the shabby treatment it has historically received, and because of the lack of any reference to it in the Koran.
By mid nineteenth century, the city was a neglected back border where Jews were in the majority. Israel refuses to divide the city, claiming it must remain their eternal undivided capitol forever. Yasir Arafat on the other hand demands the city be divided and the half with the Temple Mount be given to him for his capitol city. Both sides can't be right.
King Solomon was once faced with a similar perplexing dilemma. Two women both claimed the same baby. Solomon offered to divide the child in half. One woman agreed, the other refused. Solomon concluded the one with the right to the child was the one who refused to divide it. It will take someone with the wisdom of Solomon to get these two sides to agree on anything where Jerusalem is concerned.
At the Camp David meetings, the US and Israel's prime minister Ehud Barak supported a plan that would give Arafat his Palestinian state and his capitol in Jerusalem. You'd think that finally Arafat would jump at the offer. If peace were truly on his agenda, that is. That solution would have expanded Jerusalem's borders and then redivide the city. The expansion would include West Bank Jewish settlements into the new Isralie city of Jerusalite, which is Hebrew for Jerusalem. The new borders would also incorporate Arab villages into the city. That portion would become the Arab capitol. The Palestinian parliament would be in the Arab neighborhood of Abudise inside of the dome of the Temple Mount. This slight of hand with borders of the city would give the Arabs what they previously wanted. Arafat turned it down. It was a good thing for Barrack that he did. The Jerusalem mayor was furious. As he put it, it is either a divided Jerusalem or it is not. Any compromise involving Jerusalem would have failed anyway. Nearly a tenth of Israelis are ultra orthodox Jews. Without their support, Barak's government would collapse like a house of cards. If Arafat had accepted the compromise, it is unlikely he would have survived long enough to sign it.
The prophet Zachariah said that in the last days, Jerusalem would become a burdensome stone for all nations (12:2). And that all who tried to shoulder that burden would be cut to pieces or destroyed. The warning is given to all peoples of the earth.
The prophet Daniel prophesied that someone would come up with a workable peace plan. In Daniel chapter 9 verse 27, it speaks of someone confirming a covenant between Israel and her enemies. The covenant is broken in the middle of the seven year period through an incursion into the same holy places currently responsible for Camp David's failure. Do you see a pattern here?
Today the only path to peace involves dividing the indivisible.But a form of peace will come according to the prophets. Somebody will come up with a solution to the thorniest foreign policy problem in the world's history. Hailed as a great peace maker, he will rise to global power.
In 1917, most of the land in the Middle East was given to the Jews. The grant was given to a Jew in gratitude for his invention of a synthetic material to make smokeless gunpowder. But after World War I, the British realized that the Arabs had all the oil. So at the San Remo Italy Conference in 1923, Churchill redrew the map of the Middle East freehand, dividing whole tribes in half and into different nations in the process. Churchill gave away most of the land promised to the Jews in 1917. With a few strokes of his pen Churchill unknowingly set in motion most of the conflicts of the Middle East of the twentieth century. The prophets tell us that Jerusalem will ignite the chain reaction.
Jerusalem, the city of peace, has known only war for most of the last two thousand years. Between the wars, it's various invaders occupied it. When not being contested in battle, it's occupiers and most of the world ignored it. By the nineteenth century, many westerners didn't know if it still existed as a real city. Today it is headline news on almost a daily basis. Now most Americans know more about Jerusalem than any other foreign city. This is exactly the way the Bible predicted it would be thousands of years in advance.
The same prophets also predicted the coming of a peace maker. Those prophecies were dependent on the fulfillment of Jerusalem's unlikely position on the world's center stage. Jerusalem is exactly where it should be in the last days. A powder keg. Both politically and spiritually. The powder keg of the Middle East is tailor made for Daniel's predicted peace maker.
The apostle John spoke of this coming peace maker in the book of Revelation, and he called him the rider on the white horse. He's the first of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse. John sees him with a bow, a symbol of war, but no arrows. Daniel says that "by means of peace he shall destroy many".
The stage is set for this peace maker's unveiling. Those who reject God's prophetic word will have no clue as to who this person really is. He will mesmerize the unbelieving world into a euphoric belief that he has finally brought a long-awaited millennium of peace. But this is pseudo peace, and it will fade like a snowflake in the sun.
Islam and Judaism fiery passion for old Jerusalem will explode again in a war and it will escalate into global proportions. The world will be so devastated within three and a half years that only the return of Christ can save mankind from extinction. He will have to immediately reset the earth's ecology so that it can sustain life. Those who survive this terrible period will be immediately gathered outside the walls of Jerusalem in the valley that is then called Jehoshaphat. They will be judged as to whether they believed in the Lord Jesus or not. Those who did will go as mortals into the new millennial kingdom over which Jesus will reign. They will experience the greatest period of peace, prosperity, security, and blessing ever know on this old planet. And Jerusalem will be the center of the world. Jerusalem will finally realize all the dreams and hopes the past generations have looked for. And the only city to be called God's City will be the place where He dwells among men. And His Name will be called at that time Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The eternal Son of the Living God.
For those of you who are not sure where you stand with God – You're not sure that you have been forgiven and accepted into a relationship with God, you can know that right now. Jesus Christ died in your place to purchase a pardon for your sins and make you acceptable for His Presence. You cannot deserve or earn this pardon. You can only receive it as a free gift. But you must claim it by an act of your will or else it's not valid for you. Right now, wherever you are, just bow your head and receive your pardon for sin. Just tell Jesus that you're willing for Him to come in and make your life what He wants it to be. He's the Son of God and He loves you. And in an instant, you will change your eternal destiny. You are forgiven all your sins in one moment. Jesus comes to live in you to give you a new heart with new desires. Don't put this off. Do this right now. You may be left behind to face the most horrible period of tribulation the world has ever known. God loves you and He will give you assurance that you have entered into His eternal family.

Sometimes we all need a reality check!


If they know of him at all, many folks think Ben Stein is just a quirky actor/comedian who talks in a monotone. He's also a very intelligent attorney who knows how to put ideas and words together in such a way as to sway juries and make people think clearly.
The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.

Here with a few confessions from my beating heart: I have no clue
who Nick and Jessica are. I see them on the cover of People and Us
constantly when I am buying my dog biscuits and kitty litter. I often ask
the checkers at the grocery stores. They never know who Nick and
Jessica are either. Who are they? Will it change my life if I know who
they are and why they have broken up? Why are they so important?
I don't know who Lindsay Lohan is either, and I do not care at all
about Tom Cruise's wife.
Am I going to be called before a Senate committee and asked if I am
a subversive? Maybe, but I just have no clue who Nick and Jessica are.
If this is what it means to be no longer young. It's not so bad.

Next confession:
I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And
it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit
up, bejeweled trees Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel
discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees.
It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, "Merry Christmas" to
me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a
ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and
sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all
that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my
beach house in Malibu. If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me
as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.
I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think
Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think
people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around,
period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an
explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution, and I don't like
it being shoved down my throat.
Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from
that we should worship Nick and Jessica and we aren't allowed to
worship God as we understand Him?
I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us
who are wondering where Nick and Jessica came from and where the
America we knew went to.
In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is
a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's
intended to get you thinking.
Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and
Jane Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this
Happen?" (regarding Katrina)
Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response.
She said, "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but
for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of
our government and to get out of our lives.
And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed
out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection
if we demand He leave us alone?" (She said the same thing when
interviewed after 9-11)


In light of recent events . . . terrorists attacks, school shootings, etc.
I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her
body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools,
and we said OK.
Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school: the
Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your
neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.
Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children
when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped
and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed
suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And
we said OK.
Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience,
why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them
to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.
Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it
out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."
Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder
why the world's going to hell.
Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what
the Bible says.
Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread
like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord,
people think twice about sharing.
Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely
through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the
school and workplace.
Are you laughing?
Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it
to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe,
or what they will think of you for sending it .
Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think
of us than what God thinks of us.
Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not then just discard it . . . no
one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit
back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.
