The Ona of Abaji in the FCT, Alhaji Adamu Yunusa has directed the immediate implementation of drug integrity test for couples in his domain before marriage.

A statement by the Director, Media and Advocacy, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Mr Femi Babafemi, said Yunusa gave the directive when he received NDLEA Chairman, Buba Marwa, on Friday.

Marwa was on advocacy visit to the palace on the NDLEA’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA).

The Ona of Abaji, who is the Chairman, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council of Chiefs, directed the Chief Imam of Abaji and other religious leaders to commence immediate implementation of the directive.

He said that the intending couples would be presented with certificate of fitness before marriage.

The Ona noted that before Marwa’s assumption of office, drug menace in Nigeria had become a huge problem, “ravaging” many young men and women, including couples.

Drawing The Line Between Personal Vendetta And Contempt Of Court Charges Against Effiong

On the 27th of July, a renowned human rights activist and lawyer, Inibehe Effiong raised an alarm through his official social media platforms that the Honorable Judge, Justice Ekaette Obot has sentenced him to one month imprisonment on charges bothering on contempt of court.

The public information surrounding the sentence which were made available by the victim and subsequent media reports and investigations are that Effiong was defending a libel suit filed by the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel against one Leonard Ekpenyong, who is also a lawyer.

Further details of the suit were that Ekpenyong had accused the Governor of bribing the Chairman of the 2019 Election Petition Tribunal for the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District election in the state, Justice W. O. Low Pass Rate In Maths, English As WAEC Releases 2022 SSCE Results


The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says results of a total of 365,564 candidates who sat for its 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates have been withheld.

A total of the 1,607,981 candidates registered for the examination from 20,222 recognised secondary schools across the country, but only 1,601, 047 sat for the test.

Mr Patrick Areghan, the council’s Head of National Office (HNO), announced details of the examination results on Monday, in Lagos.
He said the withheld results related to various reported cases of examination malpractice.

According to him, the number of seized results represents 22.83 per cent, making it 11.74 per cent higher than the 10.9 per cent recorded in the same examination diet in 2021.

Areghan said that the students’ lack of zeal to learn was largely responsible for the development.

Stephen Uwa, a show promoter, has detailed how Kizz Daniel, the musician, allegedly failed to perform at his event in Tanzania after he paid him $60,000.

Thursday night saw all 24 BBNaija housemates gather in the arena for their first Showmax task, which Modella won.

For the Showmax task, Biggie asked each level to split into two groups. Each group was expected to choose a genre, develop an idea for a Showmax original, and present a scene from their show to Biggie. Dotun, Sheggz, Daniella, and Khalid were called out and designated as the representatives of their groups.

Monkeypox: Reduce Sex With Multiple Partners, WHO Warns Men

The World Health Organisation has for the first time issued concrete recommendations about sexual behaviour for those most at risk, in view of increasing monkeypox cases in many countries.

According to WHO figures on Wednesday, some 98 per cent of the reported cases involved men who have sexual contact with multiple other men.

The WHO asked this group to, for the moment, reduce the number of sexual partners, reconsider sex with new partners, and exchange contact details with any new partners to enable follow-up if needed.

However, the organisation stressed that anyone can be infected.

On July 23, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency amid surging cases of the disease across the globe.

Nigeria is one of the countries grappling with the outbreak of the disease.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), since the emergence of monkeypox in the country in September 2017 to July 24th 2022, it has recorded a total of 869 suspected cases across 35 states out of 36. However, out of the suspected cases, 359 cases are confirmed.

N2.5bn Debt: We Stand By Our Statement Against Imo Govt, Says Innoson

Candidates Absent During UTME Excluded As JAMB Fixes Aug 6 For Mop-Up

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed August 6 for its mop-up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for candidates who could not participate in the examinations during the period of the exercise for some verified reasons.

Baba Dee, brother to the late singer, disclosed this in an Instagram post. Baba Dee detailed that Sound Sultan was producing the ‘Reality CHQ’ album before his death on 11th July 2021

Thus, as a brother, he pledged to make sure Sound Sultan’s Album came to fruition.
