Travel / Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Crownhouxe: 10:43am On Oct 12, 2019
Hello everyone,

I will join spouse soon in the UK, by the grace of GOD. I am curious about my chances of getting a job in the financial services sector on arrival. This will be a transition for me as my current role is the marketing department of a pharmaceutical company here in Nigeria. A bit of a background, I have an MBA with three years Sales/Marketing work experience. I have a passion for finance, hence the decision to transition to this sector. I will appreciate any and all information about my plan.

Best wishes.

Op, as knowledgeable as your write up suggests, why has your company not invested in a website. This will promote your business and you can spend the time used in posting here on some other aspect of your business. Just a suggestion.

Simply, self PROMOTION! Thank GOD that He has blessed you with your opportunities and privileges. Most Americans would not be impressed with the fact that that you have two European vehicles and a bike - big deal. You are are trying to impress upon members of this forum shamelessly and arrogantly because most don't know about Autozones, Pep Boys or even Walmart. We hear others on this forum tell us their products are from the USA, but you have to let us know it's from a Walmart close to where you live in Duarte, California. Who cares? Perhaps you are trying to impress those who wish they had your opportunity to travel back and forth to the US. Some on the forum actually do. Next time post on your local online forum for the benefit of residents of Duarte, California.

if you owe your previous partner Do not apply, I have a database of debtors and you might loose your deposit.

I so happen to value the opinions of gazzuzz and many other sensible and objective contributors on this forum that I wonder why the sudden adoption of the term "assurance" because it was suggested by a notorious contributor who shall remain unnamed here. I am writing about this because I noticed the "very credible gazzuzz" referencing the word "assurance" in his advertisement for a driver. Just to be clear assurance by common dictionary definition would mean a pledge, guarantee ...etc not necessarily in monetary terms. The term most appropriate is really not assurance but a "deposit" which by definition often relates to putting money down in lieu of something. In court the assurance term in your "terms and conditions" might betray you rather than safeguard you. Please take note.

MURTALA MUHAMMED INTERNATIONAL (LOS) AIRPORT
INSTRUCTION FOR DRIVERS

Riders at LOS can request Uber when leaving the airport. Learn how to receive these trip requests and cash in on the action.
Rules and regulations

LOS regulations for Uber partners

Per LOS regulations, drivers must adhere to the terms below. Failure to do so may result in impoundments. Sorry, but Uber will not pay for citations regarding illegal parking or other non-Uber related fines.

All ride dropoffs and pickups must occur on the departures level
Avoid any inappropriate behaviour at the airport or anywhere in the city while online
Pickups at LOS

How pickup requests work

It's easy to receive trip requests from riders leaving the airport. However, these trips work a little differently than other requests. To receive a trip request at Murtala Mohammed Airport [LOS] (International and Domestic), you can wait in the car park you want to pick riders up from. You will automatically be added to the FIFO (First In First Out) queue for requests.

Airport surcharges and waiting area

Riders fees at LOS

Uber partners may wait for ride requests at designated car parks at the airport. An automatic N400 will be added to your riders fare if you have a trip that starts from the airport area. Keep in mind that:

The lot is "first in, first out"; upon entering the staging line, you will be placed in line for the next trip request
There are only space for 100 vehicles at the airport waiting area. Should you arrive at the parking lot and see that it is full, we recommend leaving the airport
If you leave the staging lot or turn off your app, you will be placed at the back of the line
Car Parks

Uber driver-partners may wait for ride requests at the any of the available car parks. You will not receive an airport request outside of this lot.

Keep in mind:

The car park is "first in, first out"; upon entering the car park, you will be placed in line for the next trip request
If you do not receive a trip request in 30 minutes, we suggest to rather leave the airport area
If you leave the car park or turn off your app, you will be placed at the back of the queue
The parking fee for all three airports terminals is N400 for the first hour
You will be reimbursed the N400 parking fee if you pick a rider up from the airport. If you do not pick up a rider, or if you incur parking fees in excess of N400, you will not be reimbursed.
Designated pickup area at LOS

Uber users at the Lagos airport who request rides will be instructed to meet you at Level 1 Arrivals —a designated pickup area. To access this area, please stay in the right lane when entering the airport

Goodday sir/madam ok you spend max of 12k on fuel boarder clearance across the 3boarders is less than 10k depends on the luggage.. (if you are carrying contraband or valued luggage you pay custom clearance for it "mind you the passenger pays for it; it doesnt come from your pocket"wink so max 30k goes into road expenses from the 112k... so 112 - 30 =82.

now about the hotel... hmmm are you a hustler or a tourist?? hotel ke afterall uber drivers that live in Lagos still sleep in their cars why cant you do it? make yourself comfortable and have a good rest in your car there at the park security is sure other drivers are there too... well if you are that porch you can get motels for like 3000 - 5000 pernight na your pocket go suffer am.. P.S its not always possible that you comeback the next day ooo moreover why the rush just rest and stay on the queue when its your turn you return...

Risk hmmm Long distance drive on a very smooth road what Risk can u think of.... that is why its advised you rest one day before the trip... and also make sure you check your vehicle and make sure its in a good condition. another one is the police and custom on the road you really need to be vigilant they dont joke with Nigerian plate numbers (cars registered in Nigeria) so they set traps here and there for Nigerians and since you dont understand the language they can frustrate you waste your time and make you spend more... other risks are your luggage be very careful who and what you are carrying... cantraband can waste your time or even make them detain you... no fire arms registered or not is allowed.. yahoo boys aka internet fruadstars can land you in problem..

Thank you for your quick response @jixasi. Very useful information! It is sad that Nigerians plate numbers are targeted for some reason. A few more questions. 1. How do you make sure your passengers are not carrying contraband? 2.Is the driver implicated when a passenger is caught with contraband? 3.What is the longest you've had to wait on the queue in Accra, Ghana? Two, three days?
Thank you again for your anticipated response.
Investment / Re: Invest In Transportation (no Loss Roi Guaranteed) by Crownhouxe: 7:47am On Apr 02, 2018
Questions for you @ jixasi; what percentage of your total take per trip to Accra, Ghana (16k x 7 = 112k) would you spend for "fuel and boarder clearance"? Since your trip would necessitate that you spend the night in Accra, Ghana to return to Nigeria the following day- how much would you spend overnight as hotel lodging expenses? Also, you mentioned risks in your write-up. Can you shed light on some these risks?
I say thank you in anticipation of your response.

Thats to tell you that Taxify has safety of their drivers at heart. How can someone request for a trip in middle of the night, you can not see where he or she is heading to. Uber go soon do the same thing. Its not all about service and money, safety too matters

Driver and partners should find a way to communicate to Uber the importance of safety of drivers. Uber could be pressured to make safety of drivers a priority when there is a concerted effort of the parties involved. It better to start now. You don't want to wait until another driver or partner loses his or her life. Let's do it now! Make your concern known to Uber.

You said it all sir ... Grade A tokunbo car! Personally, I will do #40,000 per week rental for a Toyota corolla with mileage less than 70,000 miles. Car owner will service/maintain the car and handle major repairs; while I'll fuel and do minor repairs. Fair enough, but it has to be grade A tokunbo!

For a Toyota Corolla (2003-2006) you are barely breaking in the engine @ 70,000 miles or 112,000 kilometres if the vehicle was regularly serviced. I have read about many going well over 200,000 miles or 320,000 kilometres easy.
